Welcome author, musician, and spoken word artist Humble the Poet.
"I’ve been a full-time artist for ten years. No two days are the same. The longer you do it, the more confidently you can say, ‘I have not seen it all.’” - Humble the Poet
The Toronto native looks back on his humble beginnings as a teacher with a hyperactive imagination who believed that his penchant for music and poetry would never be anything more than a hobby. A fateful encounter with a particular “producer” who promised him fame caused Humble to quit his teaching job prematurely, thrusting him into debt and a long period of unemployment.
He called that moment the real beginning of his story, the rest being false starts. Humble took to Facebook to publish his reflections to a small group of followers which grew by the day, inspired by Humble’s depth and eloquence.
Listen in as Humble speaks of vulnerability, empathy, and love as his pillars for life and career. He explains that an artist’s ultimate responsibility is “to work through something, and then to share that journey.”
He and Ruben also break down what it means to love actively, to be willing to open one’s sails and let the breeze push us where we are meant to go.
"Vulnerability encourages vulnerability, which in itself creates an authentic connection.” - Humble the Poet
