Dr Hilary Jones is a GP, Author and Medical Broadcaster who has been on our screens for 32 years as ITV's health editor, on shows such as TV-am and Good Morning Britain. He is the UK's most well-known and trusted GP and his broadcasts have seen him cover ground breaking medical news stories. Hilary continues to work in public health and believes that exercise, love and laughter remain the best medicines of all. He has also just written his first novel, Frontline- the sweeping WW1 drama. He has been a trusted and caring part of the public’s life for so long and was recently awarded an MBE for his services to public health, medical broadcasting and charity work.
In this episode Hilary discusses all about the moments that have built his life and career so far. He opens up about the loss of his best friend at a young age and how this opened up his curiosity to becoming a doctor. We chat about how a career in medicine is not just about the academics and how studying the arts at a young age, made him a better communicator and the doctor he is today. However, Dr Hilary wouldn't have helped the millions of people he has through TV without writing a simple letter to a TV show...the rest is history!
