Amanda was in the Foster Care system from 12 years old. While some of her carers were great, many abused the system, using her for money and forcing her to work. She was left to fend for herself as a teenager and would end up in an abusive relationship that nearly killed her. Amanda came through such intense struggle and hardship, including the suicide of her new partner, that its a wonder she is still here. Amanda's resilience in the face of trauma after trauma is an inspiration to us all and gives hope to others that one day, things can really be OK.
TRIGGER / CONTENT WARNING: Discusses domestic violence, abuse, and suicide.
