Stevie-Jade Turner rose alright. Indeed, against the odds if you ask me.
A father who passed before her mother even gave birth. A mother who fell to the clutches of heroin all too young to come back.
Stevie-Jade is an astute financial planner who I met personally this year through my business networking. She is confident, reliable, professional, modest and very, very... very good at her job. So naturally when I learned of her 'story', her upbringing whilst being exposed to turmoil at far too young an age and a lack of the usual maternal and paternal love, connection and guidance that generally fosters a child's identity and shapes their path in life... Well, naturally I was blown away. I was inspired. I was curious. I know you will be too.
Stevie-Jade opens up about her experience and the incredibly grown-up perspectives she had at an age where I was still playing with Barbie dolls and crying about having peas mashed up in my dinner. How many of us could really fathom what it would be like growing up only to visit our mother at times in maximum security prison.. and the times she wasn't there, not knowing where she might be at all.
It's one of those stories that highlight just how much we at cause when it comes to our own life. You don't hear a single 'poor me' or anything that resembles an excuse in this podcast.
Enjoy.
