Dan Walker is a Journalist and Broadcaster with over twenty years' experience, previously at the helm of the BBC breakfast show for 6 years and now the lead anchor for 5 News on Channel 5. Dan’s long list of impressive career achievements includes being the host of Football Focus for 12 years, covering 5 Olympic games and 5 world cups, being a Strictly Come Dancing quarter finalist and a bestselling author. Dan lives in Sheffield with his family and spends a lot of his time raising money for different charities and bringing people together who have done extraordinary things.
In this episode Dan talks about his big decision to move to Channel 5, his love of storytelling and his thoughts around our paths being laid out for us with opportunities. He tells us all about the Sliding Doors moment when he was going to become a teacher but didn't get onto the course because of an unconventional moment - which is what led him to study journalism! Dan opens up about the decision of him saying no to BBC Breakfast twice before making the decision to take the job- and how different life would have been for him without this opportunity!
