Opening Bible verse: Matthew 14:24-33

Some months you're okay.  All the bills are paid and you can exhale.  You are walking on water.  The next, you're not okay. You feel overwhelmed and as if you are drowning financially.  Are you tired of not feeling safe financially?  Do you feel like one storm will do you in with your money?  Take a look at this one number to see if this could be the problem.

Your monthly fixed costs.  What? These are the costs that don't fluctuate too much.  Your mortgage or rent, car payments, tuition, elite sports fees, utilities, student loans, credit card debt and on and on.  

Add up all of your fixed monthly costs.  What percentage of your monthly take home pay is this number? If it's higher than 60%, this episode is for you.  Focus on your top 3 culprits (your big wins) in this category.  Is it your house? Your car? Your kids' school? Debt?  Now you know where to focus to cut costs.  You can skip coffee all month long but it won't move the needle as much as addressing the big 3.
