There have been many "fads" in dentistry and orthodontics over the last 100 years (and even earlier) and the ideas about many  of them can be both polarizing and intimidating. While many talk about the rush of clinicians to fads, many don't talk about the intimidation that many opinionated docs create in the minds of younger doctors. This intimidation  prevents the latter from even doing  a good faith evaluation of the purported fad to see if there is any degree of merit in learning about it.
