Annette and Seth Hill have a conversation about Annette's background and childhood memories. Annette shares that she is from Kansas City, Missouri, and grew up in a small suburb called Lee Summit. She talks about her experiences growing up, including attending church camp at the Lake of the Ozarks and participating in outdoor activities with her church friends. Annette also mentions that she is an only child and reflects on her upbringing, which was more conservative due to her father being a pastor. Annette shares her family's immigration story from Cuba to the US, including her father's persecution as a pastor and their escape during the Mariel boatlift. She discusses her own background in nursing, modeling, and designing wedding gowns, highlighting the challenges and lessons she learned in these industries. Annette also reflects on her resilience, work ethic, and ability to adapt to new opportunities. She discusses her approach to handling anger and stress, as well as her experience at a personal growth retreat in Canada. Annette and Seth discuss their experiences at a personal development retreat and the impact it had on their lives. They reflect on the introspective nature of the retreat and how it helped them learn more about themselves. They also discuss the importance of accepting love from others in order to give love in return. Annette shares her excitement about participating in a triathlon relay and how it has pushed her to try new things. They also talk about Annette's recently released book, 'Simple Country Living,' and the inspiration behind it.
