This week I’m talking to New York Times bestselling author Dr. Kelly Brogan. We’ve had a handful of New York Times bestsellers on the podcast, and I usually don’t even mention it. But for this book, it’s a pretty big deal. When Kelly started the process of promoting her book, A Mind Of Your Own, no mainstream media would cover it (you’ll hear why in the episode). So she started her own grassroots campaign to get her book and message to the masses…and it worked. It’s an incredible story that I haven’t stopped thinking about.
In this episode, Kelly and I talk about how her own illness and pregnancy began to shift how she looked at her own practice, why she believes that depression is not a disease and how we should treat it, how antidepressants and pharmaceuticals are making us sicker, and why she’ll never prescribe another drug again.
