Today Debbie talks with Jill Grunewald of www.healthfulelements.com about how to manage the sugars in your bloodstream. Jill is dedicated to improving the way people eat so that they can avoid or manage dysglycemia or conditions like Hashimoto’s or hypothyroidism.
As Jill points out, all things lead back to blood glucose levels, in that many conditions start with some kind of imbalance in blood sugar levels. Everything will be harder to manage when you are dysglycemic. She says that you need to make sure you are getting a good amount of fats and proteins at each meal to make sure you’re taking in the nutrients you need to make sure that blood sugar levels are properly managed.
She makes clear that she’s not against carbs, but is rather just concerned that we’ve been told that it’s healthy to load up on them, and types of carbs that aren’t the best options. What she is recommending is a more balanced approach, eating more proteins and fats as well as good carbs.
You can visit with Jill online, and she also has an ebook on balancing blood sugar that’s free to download at https://www.healthfulelements.com/bloodsugar. She’s also in the process of co-authoring a cookbook for the management of thyroid conditions with her colleague Lisa Markley.
