In this episode of Five @ Five, Dr. Rogers answers YOUR questions!
This week's questions:
1. I have lost 40 lbs in 3 months without trying. I wake up several times a night. Have heart palpitations. Am losing a lot of hair. My PCP writes it off as just anxiety and isn't ordering any further tests beyond a CBC and CMP. What other tests should I be running to try and find out the root cause? What else would you look at?
2. You mentioned in this week's Doctor's Note that there are some conditions where you wouldn't put someone on iodine. What are some of those conditions? Who should stay away from iodine supplementation?
3. 5,000 to 10,000 units of Vitamin D per day seems like a lot. I hear a lot of people say that's too much. Why do you say we should take that amount? Is there a reason people are afraid to take that dose and what don't they understand?
4. Are there supplements that can help short term memory loss?
5. You said recently that insulin might be the most important hormone we have. Why is that and how can we make sure our insulin levels are under control?
