Lent is not a demand for hungry people to go more hungry, or lonely people to become more isolated. It’s an invitation to make room, where we are a little too full. There are some things we cannot see, some things we cannot hear, some things we will not consider—until we are hungry. What would it mean for you to not live in denial of the hunger, but follow it wherever the hunger might lead you? That is the invitation of Lent.
