This week’s catch-up episode covers everything — because life doesn’t separate it for you.
While Frankie was in Moab celebrating Tammy’s 54th birthday, a 3.6 earthquake hit West Valley. Jess felt like her house was on a wave machine.
We talk Moab, Dead Horse Point, and the haunting legend behind its name.
Then the tone shifts.
On the drive down, Frankie got the call he knew was coming — his Aunt Pat passed away at 82. We share the hilarious stories (the “blue hands” emergency that was actually wet jeans… the restaurant send-backs… the almost-abduction misunderstanding) and the deeper moments about aging parents, phone buddies, and what it feels like to start losing the people who shaped you.
We also reflect on Jon Absey's funeral — ten years to the day Frankie lost his dad — and how grief seems to stack as you get older.
And then there’s the Savannah case.
The Ring footage delays. The conflicting reports. The blood/no blood confusion. The theories. The questions. The frustration with how long it takes to retrieve critical digital evidence. We talk about how hard it is to know what’s real anymore — and how unsettling it feels when a story just doesn’t add up.
This episode is funny.
It’s heavy.
It’s frustrating.
It’s human.
It’s life happening all at once.

Some days are still scary.
We didn’t just “walk away” from the machine without fear. We were terrified. And some days we still are. But at some point, you have to go for it anyway.
In this episode, we talk about:
• Leaving corporate security
• Riding the waves of grief and different seasons
• The tension between providing for your family and actually being present
• How ego can disguise itself as “I’m doing this for my family”
• Different forms of compensation that aren’t money
• And why time — not income — might be the real currency
We share how life looks completely different than it did four years ago. The missed games. The early mornings. The stress that quietly crept into relationships. And what it means now to be intentional — especially when health, family, and time feel fragile.
We also talk about:
• The pressure corporations create
• The fear of “launching” kids
• Why time feels like it speeds up
• And a story about someone in his 20s who recognized burnout before it wrecked his life
At some point you have to ask:
How much is enough?
And what are you really doing it for?

Shara Park spent nearly 18 years at KSL — the station she dreamed of working for since junior high. She thought she’d retire there.
She didn’t.
In this deeply honest conversation, we talk about:
• Being known as “the blonde from Channel 5”
• The 24th of July parade moment when she thought, I made it
• Losing confidence… and finding it again
• The mental fog of morning shows and breaking news
• “Fun Shara” vs. “Working Shara”
• The Walmart gingerbread house moment when she chose herself
• Her daughter’s quiet shift after she stepped away
• And the freedom of being able to say, “Yes, I can braid your hair.”
This conversation isn’t about bitterness.
It’s about breathing again.
It’s about realizing your career is something you did — not who you are.
And it’s about choosing your family when you finally get the chance.

This episode covers… everything.
We start with what was supposed to be a “quick dog tangent” — which turns into a full breakdown of allergies, senior dog coughs, brand-new furniture rules, and the now-legendary Stupendous couch showdown.
(Christy, you can fast-forward. We’ll let you know when it’s safe.)
Then we shift into life lately:
• A friend who bought the cabin after hearing Frankie say, “It’s an investment in your family.”
• Why sometimes being “broke” means you’re building something meaningful
• Dance class, product launches, hockey moms and elite teams
• Super Bowl gatherings that are more about community than the score
• Frankie’s inner conflict during Utah vs. Detroit
• And why gathering — win or lose — is really the whole point
It’s messy, funny, honest and full of real life.
Thanks for being part of ours.

In this episode of the Frankie & Jess Podcast, we welcome Ed Harrold—breath coach, author, and creator of Breath AS Medicine—for a conversation that unfolds slowly, intentionally, and right where it needs to.
Ed shares his journey from growing up on the East Coast to eventually finding his way to Utah, drawn by space, nature, and the ability to finally breathe—literally and mentally. What began as a love for movement and athletic training eventually led him to a deeper realization: slowing down the body and breath unlocked something far more powerful than pushing harder ever did.
We talk about rock bottom as a starting point, ego and competitiveness, sensitivity as a strength, and how breath became the shortcut that helped Ed rebuild his life. He breaks down the science behind breathing—why mouth breathing signals panic to the brain, how nasal breathing calms the nervous system, and why the speed of your breath often mirrors the speed of your thoughts.
Ed also explains the difference between stress-based breathing practices like Wim Hof and more functional, everyday breathwork you can actually use in real life—at work, in traffic, or standing in line. We dive into brainwave states, the role of the lungs in regulating emotion, why slowing your inhale can help you become the “CEO of yourself,” and how simple awareness can shift how you show up in the world.
To learn more about Ed, his work, and his breath training programs, visit:
This episode is part science, part story, and part reminder that maybe what we’re all really searching for… is space to breathe.
Take a breath—and listen.

We begin by honoring and remembering their dear friend Jon Absey, the original Utah Jazz Bear, who passed away peacefully in his sleep after battling pancreatic cancer. Jon was only 58 years old, and to know him was to love him. He was one of the kindest, most selfless people you could ever meet, and his impact on this community runs deep. We reflect on who Jon was, the love he gave so freely, and the sadness of losing someone far too soon.
From there, the conversation turns personal as we talk about tattoos—why Jess has several, why Frankie only has two, and the deeper meanings behind each one.
We also discuss the concerning and ongoing situation involving Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has gone missing in Tucson, Arizona. At 84 years old and of sound mind, the circumstances surrounding her disappearance are troubling, especially as her home has become a crime scene. We talk through what’s known so far and why it’s weighing so heavily on so many people following the story.
And yes—we also touch on some lighter moments, including thoughts on the Grammys, because sometimes that’s how real conversations go: grief, concern, reflection, and moments of pop culture all living in the same space.
🤍 For Jon. Always loved. Always remembered.

She’s back — and this one feels extra special.
We’re talking with the real Sundance Lisa — and yes, we’re having a little fun with that. 😉 While Lisa Barlow jokingly dubbed herself “Sundance Lisa”, our Sundance Lisa has been doing this for 16 years, first coming on our radio show back in the day and becoming a true Sundance staple ever since.
This year hits different. It’s the final Sundance Film Festival in Utah before it heads to Boulder next year — and Lisa absolutely went out with a bang. From celebrity encounters to behind-the-scenes stories, she shares what this closing chapter feels like after so many unforgettable festivals.
And then there’s life. It sounds like Lisa may have found romance — and not the messy kind. The way she talks about it, it feels healthy, kind, and genuinely good. We couldn’t be happier for her.
Lisa is hilarious, quick, warm, and just plain fun — which is why we’ve loved having her on the radio show and Frankie and Jess Podcast for nearly two decades.
An era ending. A new chapter beginning. And one incredibly fun conversation with the real Sundance Lisa.

The old narrative says that once kids hit their tween and teen years, they pull away — and parents just have to hope they come back around.
But what if that’s not actually true?
In this episode of the Frankie & Jess Podcast, we chat with Susan Caso, a licensed therapist, author, and mom of three with a 14-year age gap between her oldest and youngest. She’s parenting in real time through two completely different eras — and she’s seeing firsthand what’s changed.
Susan is the author of The Parent‑Teen Connection: How to Build Lifelong Family Relationships (SusanCaso.com), a practical guide for building trust, connection, and emotional safety in families navigating the complexities of modern childhood and adolescence — and you can check it out on her site at susancaso.com or grab a copy here: The Parent‑Teen Connection on Amazon. You can also follow her insights on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/susan.caso/ — she’s sharing great resources and moments for parents there.
We talk about:
This episode is for parents who care deeply, feel unsure at times, and want to build a foundation their kids will actually come back to.

Sometimes the magic happens when you stop worrying about how things will work out.
Nashville trips, good food, ice cream stops, candle-making nights, and friendships… to the moments that remind us how fragile and meaningful life really is.
We talk about the importance of community and connection (especially for men), why we’re not meant to do life alone, and how energy—good or bad—has a ripple effect on the people around us.
Frankie opens up about a scary few days when his mom was hospitalized with COVID, the fear that comes with watching a loved one struggle, and the gratitude that follows when things turn around.
We also share some good things: home updates, hockey games, and Axel scoring his very first game goal—plus a real conversation about parenting, pressure, and letting kids love what they love without forcing the outcome.
