Welcome to Healing From Within with host Sheryl Glick author of The Living Spirit a story of spiritual awakening communication healing energies miracles and ways to know and utilize intuition for health prosperity and a less fearful life experience. Today Sheryl welcomes once again, Dr. John J. Miller to discuss what has become a threatening epidemic in modern day time: rising levels of diseases we had thought to be eradicated or at least under control.
As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware Sheryl and her guests share intimate stories and insights into the human condition and talk about ways to use our spiritual and intellectual knowledge creating a healthier more positive life experience. We share our understanding of the dual nature of individuals as both spiritual and physical energies who may use this awareness of higher consciousness to improve their everyday lives. In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we will learn about the Measles Epidemic happening in the United States and other parts of the world and highlight how international travel and unvaccinated populations all over the world are a source for infection and what we need to know in order to hopefully protect our children and ourselves. We can acquaint ourselves with greater awareness of the symptoms and ways the disease is being contracted and spread, as well as what to do if you or your children should develop symptoms. U.S. measles cases in 20-19 have climbed to their highest level in 25 years in a resurgence largely attributed to misinformation that is turning parents against vaccines. New York City health officials recently reported 61 new cases pushing this year’s nationwide tally past the 667 cases reported for all of 2014. That would make 2019 the worst year for measles since 1994. What is causing the outbreak? Just how dangerous is this disease? And what do parents and others need to know? With us today to discuss the measles epidemic and answer these questions is author and pediatrician John J. Miller.
John begins the discussion by sharing with us how at five years old he contracted cancer and was hospitalized and treated and how that experience, as well as his desire to help people, intuitively and perhaps by a divine life plan lead him to know he would be a pediatrician help children and their parents through the most challenging of times.
We then fast forward to the challenges of present day reality and seek the primary cause of the measles outbreak We discover Measles is an extremely contagious viral infection caused by exposure to a person infected with the virus. Sneezing, coughing, and talking can spread it, but the virus can even live on surfaces and the air for a limited time—long enough to infect someone new. Before routine measles immunization began in the United States in 1963, there were about 3 to 4 million cases of measles each year. Though vaccination has virtually made measles a worry of the past in the United States, it is still a concern in other countries. Outbreaks all over the world still occur and those who are not immune to the virus can put themselves and others at risk
Some arguments used by people who do not believe in vaccinations begin with parental refusal of vaccines which is a growing a concern for the increased occurrence of vaccine preventable diseases in children. A number of studies have looked into the reasons that parents refuse, delay, or are hesitant to vaccinate their child(ren). These reasons vary widely between parents, but they can be encompassed in 4 overarching categories. The 4 categories are religious reasons, personal beliefs or philosophical reasons, safety concerns, and a desire for more information from healthcare providers. Parental concerns about vaccines in each category lead to a wide spectrum of decisions varying from parents completely refusing all vaccinations to only delaying vaccinations so that they are more spread out. A large subset of parents admits to having concerns and questions about childhood vaccinations. For this reason, it can be helpful for pharmacists and other healthcare providers to understand the cited reasons for hesitancy so they are better prepared to educate their patients’ families. Education is a key player in equipping parents with the necessary information so that they can make responsible immunization decisions for their children. Measles are spread in many ways. Sneezing, coughing, and talking can spread it, but the virus can even live on surfaces and the air for a limited time—long enough to infect someone new. The signs parents should be looking for include the first symptoms of a measles infection which usually are a hacking cough, runny nose, high fever, and red eyes. Kids also may have Koplik’s spots (small red spots with blue-white centers) inside the mouth before the rash starts.
The rash breaks out 3–5 days after symptoms start, sometimes along with a high fever up to 104°F (40°C). The red or reddish-brown rash usually begins as flat red spots on the forehead. It spreads to the rest of the face, then down the neck and torso to the arms, legs, and feet. The fever and rash slowly go away after a few days.
We can protect our children from measles and other diseases by being diligent about having them vaccinated. Vaccines are our best defense against infections that may have serious complications such as pneumonia, meningitis, cancer, and even death. CDC recommends vaccinations before the age of two years to protect children against 14 infectious diseases: measles, mumps, rubella (German measles), varicella (chickenpox), hepatitis A, hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), Haemophilus influenza type B (Hib), polio, influenza (flu), rotavirus, and pneumococcal disease.
Some municipalities have made it illegal to go to public places if you have not been vaccinated. States clearly have the authority to require that all children receive vaccinations. Vaccinations serve two purposes. One is to protect the health of the child, the other to protect the health of the general public. Under most state laws, failure to provide vaccinations might also be considered “medical neglect” if the vaccination is needed to protect the child from serious physical harm.
All states have mandatory vaccination laws. These are generally enforced through making vaccinations a requirement for school enrollment, including preschool and daycare. Enforcement through child welfare laws is not very common, since child protection laws generally require the threat of serious harm to the child, which may be hard to establish.
If for some reason you haven’t vaccinated your child yet you can begin a catch-up schedule designed to bring unvaccinated children up-to-date, they wonder if their plan should consider the fact that there are disease outbreaks in various parts of the country and they also may have a new baby on the way. Until their doctor is able to provide more specific guidance, they’ve reached out to our immunization community for words of wisdom, understanding and encouragement. Please note that they are not looking to be convinced whether they should, or shouldn’t, vaccinate. Rather, they’re looking for intelligent insight into how they should best get their children caught up.
While every parent has the right to make personal decisions about their children’s health care, parents need to know that not vaccinating their babies can also have scary and dangerous consequences.
Observing vaccinated children for many years to look for long-term health conditions would not be practical, and withholding an effective vaccine from children while long-term studies are being done wouldn’t be ethical. A more practical approach is to look at health conditions themselves and at the factors that cause them. Scientists are already working to identify risk factors that can lead to conditions like cancer, stroke, heart disease, and autoimmune diseases such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. Thousands of studies have already been done looking at hundreds of potential risk factors. If immunizations were identified as a risk factor in any of these studies, we would know about it. So far, they have not.
We learn about a vaccine’s safety during clinical trials before it is licensed, and monitor it continually as millions of doses are administered after it is licensed. We also know there is not a plausible biologic reason to believe vaccines would cause any serious long-term effects. Based on more than 50 years of experience with vaccines, we can say that the likelihood that a vaccine will cause unanticipated long-term problems is extremely low.
We should know what to do if we come in contact with an infected person. First we would call our healthcare provider as soon as possible to discuss exposure so special arrangements can be made for you to be seen at the office and evaluated without putting other patients and medical office staff at risk. A person infected with measles can be infectious before they have any symptoms of the disease. Your healthcare provider is the best person to determine if you are immune to measles based on your vaccination record and any medical conditions you might have.
· If you or your child are not immunized, you may be advised to stay home (quarantine) and away from work, school, and public places for 21 days to ensure you/your child do not become infected and pass measles to others. · If you have not been vaccinated, measles vaccine may help prevent disease if given within 72 hours of first exposure. Immune globulin (a blood product containing antibodies to the measles virus) may prevent or lessen the severity of measles if given within 6 days of first exposure. · If you are immunized, or have other proof of immunity to measles, you do not need to be quarantined and may continue with your normal activities.
Can a child get the disease after being vaccinated? With an inactivated (killed) vaccine, it isn’t possible. Dead viruses or bacteria can’t cause disease. With live vaccines, some children get what appears to be a mild case of disease (for example, what looks like a measles or chickenpox rash, but with only a few spots). This isn’t harmful, and can actually show that the vaccine is working. A vaccine causing full-blown disease would be extremely unlikely. One exception was the live oral polio vaccine, which could very rarely mutate and actually cause a case of polio. This was a rare, but tragic, side effect of this otherwise effective vaccine. Oral polio vaccine is no longer used in the U.S.
Should adults who have had measles or been vaccinated need to be vaccinated again? And at what point does the vaccination stop being effective? Most people born before 1957 are thought to have been infected naturally with the virus through measles outbreaks. However there are some who are not immune. Doctors can check a patient’s immunity levels with a blood test to detect antibodies that fight measles. People born before 1957 who have had the lab testing that shows they are not immune and may be at high risk should have one dose of the MMR vaccine and then a second dose 28 days later. You are at a high risk if you travel during an outbreak, are near travel hubs or destinations, or are a healthcare provider. You could be at risk if you only got one dose of the vaccine
There can be serious dangers to adults who contract measles. Some people may suffer from severe complications, such as pneumonia (infection of the lungs) and encephalitis (swelling of the brain). They may need to be hospitalized and could die. As many as one out of every 20 children with measles gets pneumonia, the most common cause of death from measles in young children.
As a pediatrician for more than four decades Dr. Miller has seen great strides in medicine including the development of many more vaccines and suggests to parents who wants to spread out their child’s vaccinations that is a reasonable approach. No need to overstress the body nor to cause more discomfort than necessary during a doctor’s visit that could create emotional stress for the child.
Considering that rates of vaccine-preventable diseases are very low, my child is unlikely to get one of these diseases. Therefore, isn’t the benefit of vaccination also very low that’s a reasonable question. Statistically, the chances of any particular child getting measles, pertussis, or another vaccine-preventable disease might be low but, you don’t wear a seatbelt because you expect to be in a serious accident; you wear it because you want to be protected in the unlikely event that you are. If you’re never in an accident, the benefit of wearing a seatbelt might be zero. But if you are, the consequences of not wearing it can be very high. It’s the same with vaccines. Your child might never need the protection they offer, but you don’t want him to be lacking that protection if he ever does need it.
Dr. John J. Miller for participating in a most important discussion to help parents and the public in general be aware of the increasing problem of the Measles outbreak that puts so many people at risk. The last show Dr Miller recorded with me on his book The Book of Spells which piques the imagination and helps medically affected children to feel powerful in the conquering of their illness go to the radio page of my website where the show can be heard April 2020
In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within, we have shared a great deal of helpful facts about the measles epidemic and indeed an understanding of why some parents are confused or afraid of vaccinating their children, simply because they don’t have the facts. Indeed, preventing contagious disease is a necessary part of living in populated areas of society such as cities, going into schools, public utilities where many people work closely, side by side. Having the knowledge and understanding the reasons for the spread of disease is advantageous so we may improve preventative medical techniques and certainly vaccinating our children and the entire population is one of those techniques. True healing is really using our mind, body and spirit to think in terms of creating the best environment for prosperity, well being and happiness. When we must suffer through the symptoms and complications of any disease, we always learn that we have an inner source of strength to heal our self if our attitude is hopeful and trusting in the science of the medical treatments and vaccines that aid us in this personal journey of well being. We thank the doctors who try to educate and lead us to making good choices.
Dr. Miller and I would hope you discuss with your doctors all options for preventing and protecting your immune system and create conditions in your home and work place that limit contracting measles or any other disease.

Welcome to “Healing From Within” with your host Sheryl Glick author of Life Is No Coincidence and The Living Spirit: Answers for Healing and Infinite Love, and the newest in the trilogy, A New Life Awaits which shares stories of spiritual awakening, spiritual communication, healing energies, miracles and ways to find and use intuition for improving decision making and living with greater health prosperity and joy. Today I welcome Robert Sharpe author of his newest book The Heart and Soul of Caring which highlights 11 unique true stories of the challenges and joys of being a caregiver for a loved one.
As listeners have come to expect through the years Sheryl and her guests have been sharing intimate and insightful looks at the connect between the physical and metaphysical elements of life as we know it, and as it actually continues to unfold, we find Universal Laws of Energy that when understood and practiced, can help us reach our full potential as human soul beings and help us excel at living with compassion and love for all life.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Robert Sharpe the founder of BITEradio.me, host and producer of “Bringing Inspiration to Earth” radio show and author of Joy Potential, which is designed to enlighten and entertain listeners in Self-Help Spirituality Children’s Corner and Environmental Awareness will help listeners find answers to difficult questions in caring for relatives at the end of life and sometimes even when communication is not possible the bond of love is known by your loved one.
The inspiration for Robert’s newest book The Heart and Soul of Caring is to share as an adult in these very rapidly changing world shaking times what helps us maintain your balance and level of peace and well being no matter the situations we are facing with health or family challenges. Robert tells many wonderful stories of people he interacted with and who helped him realize the eternal nature of the soul and that physical death is merely a transition of our soul energy to a higher dimension of life. This was taken from the story of Louis J. Concotilli & Corrine De Winter by his daughter and Robert writes, “there can be a positive way to approach the decline of a person’s health or changes in life in general …. “So, to watch my Mom go through what she did, and to experience what my Dad did subject to his affliction, you’ve got to know and believe a few things in order not to crumble. I can admonish myself, say “This is life, not always a piece of cake.” Or I can tell myself and take into my heart that his remaining days, the days where he still knows who I am, and can still sing along to old rock-and-roll songs, are good enough for the moment, they are a treasure, and the biggest treasure is yet to come. He will live again, and be as clear as a spring day, and all the confusion and sorrow will be a little cloud that has meandered away in the sky. In the care-giving of my Father, I was taught patience, gratitude and the absolute meaning of unconditional love. My Father, unknowingly, was teaching me a huge lesson about what truly matters in our existence here on earth. He had taught me in my life about enduring Faith, and it truly was applied in those very difficult moments.”
The Heart and Soul of Caring contains only 11 stories and is not a large book and it was necessary to publish this book now because in life, we have many roles: parent, child, brother, sister, friend, co-worker, boss, mentor, and sometimes – caregiver. Some people choose the role as an occupation; nurse, doctor, health aide, etc. More often, we as individuals, are called upon to pick up this role by becoming a caregiver to a parent, child, friend or relative who needs life assistance due to illness, disability, old age or dementia. I believe the compassion we experience as a caregiver strengthens our spirit simply by helping those in need. The caregiver role is one that carries with it many challenges for caregivers and those in our care. Yet, it also demonstrates our humanity to others and has its rewards. This book is an opportunity to give a voice to caregivers who would like to share their experiences, the good and the challenges. There is comfort in knowing that you are not alone with your feelings of frustration, anger, fatigue and yes, also joy and fulfillment
Something personal that Robert learned from the stories was that one area we can demonstrate our love for those around us is to have a health care proxy or directive. In Joe’s case he did not have one and the burden it placed on Maya after his stroke was a struggle. When it comes to medical treatment and end of life decisions, we should ensure that our desires are written down so that there is no question as to a course of treatment. It ensures our desires are met, and the loved ones around us are free from making the excruciating decisions. He had a personal experience with this. As his father was nearing death, Robert was asked to produce the DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) order he had signed. Many times, he had the discussion with him and he was clear as to what he wanted to happen (or not) when the time came. When looking for the Do Not Resuscitate order Robert was unable to locate and produce the document. Then he remembered his father had also given a copy to his then-wife and one to his doctor. When Robert could not locate his, he approached both. Neither could lay hands on their copy. What are the chances that three copies of a document cannot be located? The missing documents caused him to wonder, “Is this a sign that maybe I was not to follow those instructions?” Even though Robert had the conversation with his father many times about end of life decisions, he was now unsure.
Sheryl shares a story with Robert of a time when she was asked to sign a DNR form for her mother in the hospital. Even though she knew her Mom would not want extraordinary measures or procedures if she could not recover from the illness she was enduring and if she could not have a good quality of life, it still made Sheryl very sad and she had a sense of guilt about signing a DNR during her mom’s last illness. As it turned out her mother was able to go home under hospice care and passed 6 weeks later. Months later Sheryl was at a Spiritual Conference in Barbados and one of the mediums told her that her Mom was telling her at that very moment from Spirit that she was aware that Sheryl was disturbed by the DNC form she had signed and her mom firmly said that it was the right thing to do and she wanted it that way. Sheryl was able to release that guilty feeling and be happy that her Mom was okay in Spirit, free of the suffering of the last three months of her life. It was also proof for Sheryl that mediums or intuitive healers are able to pick up information from deceased loved ones that are accurate and healing in their content. That was twenty-two years ago and Sheryl as a result of all these metaphysical experiences was able to develop her own gifts of clairvoyance and to do reading and healing sessions that help people expand their awareness and know that consciousness continues after physical death.
The common threads discovered from the stories Robert has shared in his book The Heart and Soul of Caring beginning with the story of Roberts father when asked about a DNC and when he asked his father how to proceed as his father was still alert at the beginning of the illness. Robert knew he was questioning whether or not he would be able to follow that course of action and could feel that he didn’t want his father’s life to end. Robert and his family weren’t quite ready to let him go. Robert acknowledged that to his father as he gave him the facts of what was happening. In the end, his father said, with a blink of an eye, it was time to move on and Robert was able to accept it. Robert has not shared that moment in such depth until now in his book. It was a very personal moment. Yet, he felt it needs to be told so that if you find yourself in such a position, remember that honoring the wishes of the “care receiver” is of utmost importance. It’s their life, it’s their decision. And please, prepare now because life can change in an instant.
Another important fact to remember is that a caretaker is a hero who must wear bulletproof armor and must react to conditions spontaneously as they occur. One must possess thick skin as well and a keen sense of compassion, the ability to recognize the enemy, and not shy away from reinforcements, understanding a one-person war cannot be won, and being a martyr will not win the battle. A hero must remain healthy, take care of themselves first of all, or all hope can be lost in the blink of an eye for those you’ve fought so passionately to serve and protect. There is no shame in allowing others to help you on the battlefield. The weary require rest to continue the good fight. A hero takes on the deadly foe because he or she wants to, not because they have to. Never take for granted the one providing the care for the one requiring it. The hero, the caregiver, deserves care-giving as well. A one-person fight is a battle lost. Support those who care for others, but do it because you want to and not because you have to.
Often care takers forget to take care of their own health which is reflected in the story of Mary & Thomas J. Winn/Ruby Holmes Bowie – Tom Winn, son & grandson tells of his father who took ill and his mother cared for him and then was herself diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died before her husband and mother. Mama as Tom tells us had been the matriarch, never sick, the rock and then, just like that, without warning she had been taken away. The warning signs had actually been there if she would have paid them any attention or shared them with us. Caregivers don’t do that. Their patient comes first if they are sincere in their role. They grow accustomed to having their lives occupy the backburner. It’s sort of a caregiver curse.
Here is their story: My wife and I have journeyed the path of the caregiver. No, I’m not tooting the hero horn because of what we have done; I just have a new appreciation and respect for those who do after experiencing it firsthand. I documented our account in my memoir, The Caregiver’s Son, Outside the Window Looking In. Mary Winn, my mom, was the primary caregiver for my dad, Thomas J. The last half dozen years of his life, him having been stricken with a double whammy, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, bedridden and completely dependent his last couple of years. She embraced her role, keeping him at home but also suffered from the dreaded martyr syndrome. We helped as a back-up, but both had full-time jobs. Mama had also eventually brought her mom into their household, taking on the responsibility as the primary caregiver for her too.
While Granny Bowie didn’t require the hands-on care as my daddy, she still required minimal assistance. My wife and I eventually stepped into the primary caregiver’s role when mama, the day after Christmas, sickened and after a doctor’s visit, was admitted to the hospital. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, advanced stages, no treatment or surgery recommended as was the writing on the wall. She had become a victim to one of the caregiver’s worst flaws, neglecting one’s own health, even when the signs were present, to take care of the one needing the care.
A caregiver’s health and mental wellbeing are of the utmost importance if they intend to be an effective care provider. My wife and I inherited the primary role as the caregivers, three requiring our attention. We placed our home on the market, receiving an offer the first day it was made available, our sign of what would become our destiny. Mama succumbed to her disease three months after being diagnosed, dying in my arms and sitting on the side of her bed. Her last words to me, her only son before taking a gasping breath was, ‘I love you, sweetie.’ My daddy who had been so sick for so long, joined her three months later from aspiration as we fed him his Sunday meal, drawing his last breath in the very room she had passed, their bedroom. Emergency personnel didn’t arrive in time to save him.
The suggestions Robert might make for those embarking on this caregiving journey to help them along the way would include: First of all there is no shame in allowing others on the battlefield. Providing care can be difficult for both the giver and receiver. However, there is much to be gained for both. For the care receiver, there is the realization that what they did independently now requires assistance. For them, having to depend on others can be frustrating and depressing. For the caregiver, the difficulty comes in having to adjust their life to make care giving a priority. It too can be frustrating and depressing. Add to the mix if either the caregiver, or receiver has a ‘difficult’ personality, and then the challenges are increased exponentially.
Second, there is the other side of the same coin: The benefits. For the care receiver there is the comfort in knowing that in a time of need, someone is there to be of assistance. For the caregiver there can be unexpected benefits such as Jennifer’s intuitive abilities kicking in and in Maya’s case gaining a strength and self-confidence that she had not known prior.
Caregivers can experience both positive experiences and strain simultaneously. Many of the stories in this book support that reality. Emotional distress and satisfaction as well as positive personal growth are not incompatible, and it is that conflict that can drain the energy of the care provider. So, while the primary reason to be a care provider is to help a loved one, in the end, the lives of everyone are enriched.
Robert might want people to remember after reading The Heart and Soul of Caring the following:
You are the Hero
Tom so eloquently framed the caregiver role as that of a hero facing a challenging battle that it bears repeating.
A hero wears bulletproof armor and must react to conditions spontaneously as they occur.
A hero must possess a thick skin and a keen sense of compassion.
A hero must have the ability to recognize the enemy and not shy away from reinforcements, understanding a one-person war cannot be won.
A hero will recognize that being a martyr will not win the battle.
A hero must remain healthy, take care of themselves first, or all hope can be lost in the blink of an eye for those you’ve fought so passionately to serve and protect.
A hero will understand there is no shame in allowing others on the battlefield. The weary require rest to continue the good fight.
A hero takes on the deadly foe because he or she wants to, not because they have to.
A hero will never take for granted the one providing the care – for the one requiring it.
The hero, the caregiver, deserves to receive care as well.
To the care receiver – You are their hero.
We want to thank Robert Sharpe, author of The Heart and Soul of Caring for sharing insights into an event which most of us will have to face at some point in our lives, that of caring for those we love at the end of life, which can benefit the caretaker by providing meaning and greater love beyond the pain or sorrow that may be experienced.
In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within it has become apparent once again that what we see as good or bad, doable or impossible, right or wrong, is neither one or the other but always an opportunity to experience the best withinourselves and our magnanimous capacity for the heart to open and expand through the most dire of times. What you may discover from reading this book or being a caretaker yourself is that a strength of character and resiliency lies within each of us and there is a sense of purpose by giving back to those who were providers and now need to be provided for, loved, and to carry the connection of being helped at the end of their physical days into the next phase of eternal life that transcends time and space.
Nothing of value comes easily or without great effort on our part, but in the end, as in the beginning, there is always a way to learn more about ourselves and those we love even as we learn to let go, and allow life to flow in its infinite direction forward to greater wisdom and acceptance.
Robert and Sheryl would have you see the value in all stages of life, relinquish fear, and know yourselves as never being alone, but always aided by an infinite soul energy that always responds when simply asked to help…Conquer fear, and perhaps we conquer death.

Welcome to “Healing From Within” with host Sheryl Glick author of Life Is No Coincidence The Life and Afterlife Connection and The Living Spirit which share stories of spiritual awakening spiritual communication healing energies and miracles which lead us to discover our intuitive nature and ways to know ourselves so we may live in accordance with our life plan and am delighted to welcome Stephen Fulder PhD author of What’s Beyond Mindfulness?: Waking Up To This Precious Life a life changing guide on every aspect of modern life from using mindfulness to heal conflict, age wisely, deal with tiredness, find fulfillment at work and in relationships and make friends with your body heart and mind.
As listeners of the show are well aware Sheryl and her guests share intimate experiences and insights into the complex nature of energy, Universal Energy and the seemingly divide or duality of our physical and spiritual essence in order to know ourselves as one with unity to the world in its entirety so we can maneuver and be comfortable in our bodies mind and heart.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within Stephen Fulder PhD will share through the Buddhist practice and philosophy how we may discover that what’s beyond mindfulness are important concepts such as happiness being found in being not having, to the impact of deep listening and sharing our suffering as a way to create empathy and build bridges among war torn groups and finding ways to know peace within and peace for the world begins with each of us learning more about our human and divine aspects and creating a joyful way to walk with our neighbors and find how we are more similar than different and need to respect life our planet and world as the first step to being a conscious citizen of the Universe. Stephen Fulder has spent years teaching healing and peace work in Israel and Palestine and offers a unique way for us to move forward in these changing challenging times in helping ourselves individually and collectively to find well-being.
When Stephen is asked to think back to his childhood and remember a person place event or value that may have shown them or others the adult lifestyle and work they would pursue for often in the beginning is the passion for our true destiny in this life Stephen tells us the following: ”When I was a kid I remember sensing that life was one big mystery. I read a lot of fantasy books, my imagination wove vast worlds and I saw magic in everything and every place: the way apples grew on trees, the way both myself and the butterfly enjoyed the spreading aromas of a lilac bush and the way the people walked in the streets of London. I had one serious problem—that I knew that one day I would have to be an adult and the magic would disappear. It was a terrifying thought. Adults it seemed spent most of their lives worrying and stressed, were never satisfied with what they had especially money were busy all day or just worn out from their busyness…. Etc. Now I am an adult.”
He goes on to tell us how decision making was hard for him and others and writes, “Sometimes it’s agonizing and usually stressful. We just can’t decide about something. It might be as trivial as what restaurant to go to tonight…..I remember the gut wrenching nights when I was just 15 and the school required that I choose the humanities or science. Faced with the endless possibilities of what might happen in the future, the mind spins one scenario after scenario trying to predict the best outcome. This is what causes stress. The reason that the mind does this is that it is driven by a “me” a “self” which has as its job description the search for the safest and most comfortable outcomes for itself in an unpredictable world. Essentially it cannot be done. The future is unknown. The best we can do is to write possible future scripts based on our experience of the past or who we know ourselves to be.
Sheryl responds that we may not know the exact future or even the results from the choices we make, but must determine the next part of our journey make a choice and whatever happens is exactly the experience we are meant to have. An intuitive healer, Sheryl has at times picked up spiritually certain future happenings. In a reading for a client she told her that she saw a large green grasshopper. The client understood all the other messages given, but not that one. About a week passed and Sheryl received a phone call saying she had been cleaning out a drawer and a giant green grasshopper jumped out. Sheryl asked her, “ Well, what does that show you?’ It shows us the past has already happened and Sheryl had just picked up a little piece of that event which would happen. Perhaps our energy is swirling simultaneously in the past present and future and also a part retained above in what some call the afterlife?
Stephen tells us about years spent working to bring healing and peace to Israel and Palestine and sees that this divide may one day be ended with peace and well being achieved as the practice of working living together following the basic mindful tenants of the Buddhist spiritual path allows for greater harmony and peace to reside within and for an acceptance of all living things without judgment. If we can see past our differences to the humanity and love we feel for family children nature the Divine and for living a life without fear we may learn to enhance the love and joyful part of our human and divine nature and give up negativity and emotions that hold us back from peace.
Stephen Fulder PhD is the founder and senior teacher of the Israel Insight Society, the foremost 25 years guided thousands of people in Israel and worldwide in exploring Buddhist teachings practices and perspectives He is also well known for applying these methods to promoting peace in the Middle East. Dr. Fulder has written 14 books on health related subjects.
Stephen goes on to tell us how his book What’s Beyond Mindfulness?” is organized and why it is this way. The book is divided into three sections which can be read in any order, the first part of the book is about how we act and function wisely in the face of sickness, work, ethics, money etc. The second part deals with the pathway up the mountain and what we should take with us. These chapters include working with difficult emotions, conflict conditioning and so forth. While the third section is how things look from up there and deals with divine, autonomy, wise social action, karma and liberation.
This book will imbue your life once more with the sense of magic and mystery that you felt as a child: it will allow you to put down the burdens of anxiety, joylessness, restlessness or a judging mind and shift your experience of the world in a truly profound way.
What’s Beyond Mindfulness? is a uniquely practical and accessible exploration of Buddhism in everyday life that will appeal to people of any faith and to those of none.
Stephen shares with us the universality of the Buddhist teachings and how he discovered that it also works with your primary religious beliefs.
Stephen writes, “ This is where wakefulness, mindfulness and spiritual practices are important. They can make a shift at the deepest level, in the way we are with ourselves, with our experiences and with the world, moment by moment. And gradually something extraordinary happens. We discover that our very nature is peaceful joyful and connected, but we could not see it because it was obscured by beliefs, stories, memories, narratives and habits that filled our consciousness with clouds and burdens. Once the clouds are seen as unreal and not solid, we realize the sun is there and it will shine out again. And in its light our view of reality expands beyond the boundaries that we thought were the world. We are changed and life is lived differently.”
This book is grounded in Buddhist teachings and how they may be applied meaningfully to our outer and inner life but the vast teachings of Buddhism are an absolutely vital resource, a practical treasure trove: simple, direct, non-mystical and non-religious in essence which has reached us today intact and not covered by layers of religious obscurations. We are in a new phase of acceptance and an interest in Buddhist inspired teachings in the modern world and the West. In particular, mindfulness a key Buddhist practice which has changed the face of psychology with the rise of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and impacted health care.
Stephen and Sheryl discuss what they feel may be the way to eventually have peace for Israel the Middle East and political cooperation here in the United States and in the world as all nations are dealing with many of the same issues: migration economic issues religious difference and inequality and a need to recognize our commonality as human beings.
In reference to war Stephen aptly writes, “Most wars including this one in Gaza as I write this or those happening as you read this are fought because of fear insecurity anger or revenge. But these are individual and national emotions often stoked up by media and political leaders. The emotions create a national blindness in which neighbors become demonized and labeled as the enemy. Then communication and sort out problems become impossible. Fear and insecurity are dangerous because it is human nature to want to destroy the object or source of anxiety and fear which are uncomfortable emotions. Most wars are fought in the name of peace but in reality they are fought in the name of comfort and instead of dealing with fears internally there is an attempt to destroy the source of them externally.”
Stephen goes on to see as with everything there is a choice and writes, “There is a choice to see things entirely different. To see us and them as a habit of mind and not a reality, to see how much we are connected not separate, even as we fight together and certainly as we live together on this same earth. Pain and joy, love of life and fear of death know no boundaries. The opposing sides can both wake up and realize that our happiness depends on the happiness of our neighbors and our real safety is in togetherness not in intractable conflict.”
In regard to Gaza each act of violence breeds another act of violence and conditions the collective consciousness to feel peace is impossible. But we can unroll this in a different direction. It is possible to create chains of peacemaking to turn acts of aggression into acts of healing to look for windows of opportunities for communication dialogue and understanding of “the other.”
Stephen shares ideas on how to find our way to peace and liberation. You might start with the five moral guidelines or precepts of the Buddhist world regarded as fundamental.
Subscribe with your favorite podcast player
Apple PodcastsAndroidRSSIf we can live in the light of these five guidelines our lives and the life of our environment will change beyond recognition. But it is not easy.
By following the five principles of morality we stop harming others which gives more freedom from fear anger oppression and like a circle of transmission and reception, those who transmit ease also receive it. This view is based on an understanding of karma and the knowledge that every action we take, every word we say, every thought we think, sows a seed. The seeds do not disappear they produce fruit. All beings in the world are connected by a network of interactions.”
Therefore an act full of light brings light to the world, a murky act results in a muddled outcome, a mixed action is what characterizes or is created in most cases, a bit of both: a pure life and occasionally a bit aggressive or drink alcohol or watch a stupid movie.
The ideal action is peaceful and creates no karma at all. It is an action that seems to happen by itself and takes place when life flows through us. It happens when essentially there is no “I” separate from and ceaselessly trying to control the world. This is liberation. It seems you must be free from control issues and allow accept and surrender as you simply glide through life with thoughts of compassion and love as your constant companion.
Sheryl Shares with us that in her Reiki Master training there are also Five Tenants or Principles to Remember Each Day and they are:
Like all practices they include an adherence to proper thinking speaking and action exactly like the Buddhist way.
We can learn to deal with the challenge of sickness, aging or personal issues with other people in our life by following a few key ideas when dealing with adversity.
Choices in life are made radically easier if we wake up a bit and live according to three main insights.
These awakenings are not complicated. They are part and parcel of a more spiritual aware life. In this kind of life pressure to choose is replaced by something else. This is intention or direction: a real sense of what is good for us what helps us and a wholesome and steady direction to our life. This is the big picture which makes all the choices less critical, There is a sense of rightness harmony or what is fitting to us and the world, from that place of awareness, and we will know what to do instinctively.
In regard to a sickness and how to handle it..We all dread the moment we are diagnosed with some serious disease. The mind is besieged by fears worries what will happen concerns for our children or family and strategies for fighting the disease. We also build may narratives and may blame ourselves or be angry at life or others around us. All of this causes emotional turmoil confusion and despair which makes the struggle for health almost impossible. But if we could know that a disease can be an opportunity, a turning point in our lives and it may not be as bad as it seems we can give ourselves some space to look with reflection an open heart and some persistence and can transform the situation bringing hope and love to replace all the fear and doubt.
The basic tools to clear the heaviness and bring laughter lightness and gratitude are mindfulness meditation using the breath and body as the main focus. Using imagery and developing a sense that there is a deep home inside us that nothing can steal from us.
Taking the disease down off center stage and replacing it with our lived experience causes a profound shift in attitude
One of Sheryl’s favorite chapter or a feeling in the book that speaks to the heart of the matter of your personal truth? was..”What Are We Saying?” Sheryl feels that our words thoughts and actions foster our reality and materialize as we think it so it becomes. So learning to monitor our thoughts and words is a full time job which dominate our inner and outer lives. Words may be empty or powerful, creating either insecurity and fear or comfort and blessings.
So what is right speech which Buddha defined as one of the eight primary paths leading to awakening.. The Buddha defined right speech as follows:
If it is not true and not helpful, don’t say it.
If it is true but not helpful, don’t say it.
If it is not true but helpful, don’t say it.
If it is both true and helpful, find the right time.
To be more mindful of what we are saying. This turns speaking into spiritual practice. It means being more awake as to the source of words within us, and to the effect of the words we are saying both on ourselves and on others. Thoughts arise out of consciousness and consciousness is pure-it is our Buddha-nature our pure being. Words are the feeling and the result of thoughts.
A word spoken right that encourages the best in others and creates healing can be felt directly as a moment of joy and ease. It creates an atmosphere that spreads in all directions and spreads help to others.
Sheryl feels that readers might take away with them after reading What’s Beyond Mindfulness? A very kind and loving picture of life no matter the circumstance or hardship and she shares a beautiful poem that Stephen wrote about his mother when she was totally incapacitated by Alzheimer’s and pretty much expresses the truth of the soul in all its infinite wonderment.
I want to share a secret
About the gentle radiance
Of those last years,
So clear, so soft, so good,
That even the doctors
And the visitors who come and go,
Stop to take a breathe
And will never forget you.
You are not ill
Illness is our label
Inscribed by our fears.
You know no illness nor wellness
Just there-ness.
No fear of death
No anxieties of what the future may bring,
Or not bring.
No pain, no blame,
No loss no regret
No anger at those who abandoned you
No time no purpose
But the gentle kiss of life itself
The grace that comes when all else goes.
To what do you listen, so intently?
Is it the music of your heartbeat,
Tapping celestial rhythms
On the gates of your soul?
Or is it the humming of bees
On that summer’s day?
Or the barking of your dogs, That only you
can quiet, Or your fingers in their thick fur?
Or dreams of play and play of dreams;
The kaleidoscope of past in present
Uninterrupted by our harsh reality.
As I lie next to you,
And feel this life flow through
And watch your face,
No frown, no wrinkles,
Just open present,
Then, like the moon that shines between passing clouds,
Beams a joyous smile that vanishes so fast,
That I do not know If I really saw it
And now, again, you teach me,
About a life without fear, without walls, without end,
Just as you did when I was born
And, like then, share your happiest years.
We thank Stephen Fulder for sharing a wonderful , and immeasurably improves our health and level of happiness mainly by knowing the truth of our eternal being.
In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within we have discussed ways to find peace within and in the world, and happiness through opening our heart to the possibilities of awareness and higher consciousness. Living with the tenants of Buddhism and Reiki help us fulfill our human and divine journey of life to participate with gusto and live with courage love harmony and balance in order to make our communities and world reflect “Heaven on earth.” That state is not an idea, but a reality when you understand you are a spiritual being having a physical life, and the choices you make in response to the situations you face make all the difference. We are each of us capable of deep feeling and knowingness within the passion of life and love, and holding that energy and awareness through the many challenges we face in a physical world. The power to thrive not merely survive depends on your perception of hope that you are never alone and will receive the guidance and help you ask for at appropriate times.
Stephen and I would ask you to remember that life is full of possibilities for your personal power to grow and expand, as you allow yourself to surrender and not resist the daily life challenges, but flow into contact with adversity and conquer it, through your efforts to remain dedicated to your true soul nature: to love and be loved.

Apple PodcastsAndroidRSSWelcome to Healing From Within. I am your host Sheryl Glick Reiki Master Teacher an author of Life Is No Coincidence and The Living Spirit which shares stories of spiritual awakenings spiritual communication and an understanding Of Universal Energy Laws for remembering your dual nature as both physical and spiritual beings and my new book A New Life Awaits: Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening just released February 7th on Amazon. Today I welcome Master Paul Fletcher of the International Association of TAO who will share his experiences and life long journey of healing and the wonderful teachings he has absorbed from 2 unique masters of the healing arts.
As listeners of Healing From Within are well aware Sheryl and her guests share intimate stories and insights into the metaphysical world of Spirit in order to answer age old questions, “Who am I?” and “How can we explore life improving our thinking actions and find health prosperity and happiness.” We find unless we begin a practice of self-investigation to clear us of our past traumas and wounds, it is hard to live and function at our optimal state of well-being. Therefore, the quest to explore life in its spiritual and physical aspects and to merge the two is a way towards true healing of mind body and spirit.
In today’s episode of Healing From Within Master Paul Fletcher will share his experiences with his first teacher Dr. and Master Zhi Gang Sha and talk about the 6 months spent in South Korea becoming a Dahn Master in the Dahn Yoga healing system and further studies with his second teacher in Hawaii and his alignment to Shen Chi Jing transmissions.
Paul tells us a little about his path to becoming a Master Teacher of Soul Wisdom as well as explaining other Eastern philosophies such as Taoism
Taoism (also known as Daoism) is a Chinese philosophy attributed to Lao Tzu (c. 500 BCE) which contributed to the folk religion of the people primarily in the rural areas of China and became the official religion of the country under the Tang Dynasty. Taoism is therefore both a philosophy and a religion. Lao Tzu (Laozi) is traditionally described as the founder of Taoism, but modern writers think he is a legendary figure, and that the book attributed to him – the Tao Te Ching – is actually a collection of writings by many different wise people.
Chinese philosophy to signify the fundamental or true nature of the world: simplicity and selflessness in conformity with the Tao, leading a life of non-purposive action, a life expressing the essence of spontaneity.. Taoism, also known as Daoism, arose about the same time as Confucianism.
Taoism does not have a God in the way that the Abrahamic religions do. There is no omnipotent being beyond the cosmos, who created and controls the universe. In Taoism the universe springs from the Tao, and the Tao impersonally guides things on their way.
There are many other sacred writings by the teachers of Taoism. Instead of spending a lot of time trying to explain what the Tao is, Taoists focus on living a simple and balanced life in harmony with nature. This is one of the most important principles in Taoism.
Taoism Facts. Taoism is a Chinese philosophical, religious, and spiritual belief system that teaches one to flow with life and to be true to one’s nature. Taoism is one of China’s five religions.
Religious Taoism. Taoism in the West today is not at all like Chinese Taoist religion. Very few Westerners have adopted its gods and goddesses, although there are a few organizations… that have installed altars in their centers, worship Taoist gods, and celebrate Taoist (and Buddhist) festival days.
The process of death itself is described as shijie or “release from the corpse”, but what happens after is described variously as transformation, immortality or ascension to heaven. … In Taoism when one dies if they need to be contacted it is done so through meditation by an alchemist.. Tao Te Ching
Taoism has never been a unified religion, and has constantly consisted of a combination of teachings based on a variety of original revelations. Within the Daoist tradition, one can distinguish three types of organization and practice: literati, communal, and self-cultivation
Religion in China. Although China is officially atheist, many Chinese people are religious. The main religions in China are Buddhism, Chinese folklore, Taoism and Confucianism.
People’s Republic of China (1949–present) The Communist Party of China, officially atheistic, initially suppressed Taoism along with other religions. During the Cultural Revolution from 1966 to 1976, many Taoist temples and sites were damaged and Monks and priests were sent to labor camps.
Karma is an important concept in Taoism. … In the third stage of karma doctrine development, ideas of rebirth based on karma were added. One could be reborn either as another human being or another animal, according to this belief. Many religions, whether they believe in the soul’s existence in another world like Christianity, Islam and many pagan belief systems, or in reincarnation like many forms of Hinduism and Buddhism, believe that one’s status in the afterlife is a reward or punishment for their conduct during life.
Sheryl says that it is often said, “The teacher arrives when the student is ready”…In Sheryl’s case born as a sensitive child often overwhelmed by the energy and emotions of other people, many who she felt were not acting kindly or righteously it caused her to ask many questions about Why and How could we make the world a better place? But she pushed those childhood thoughts aside to fit into the world and the expectations that others held for her. It wasn’t until she was about 42 years of age that her heart actually began to hurt and she sensed there was something more to life than home family children and work experiences… Sheryl was seeking a higher form of love and connection to her infinite soul energy and to be of service to others. She answered the call to action and to develop in time her natural healing gift and the gift of connecting to souls through energy and truly bridge time and space proving to herself that life is infinite and eternal
Master Paul and Sheryl share how this journey of the Soul has led them to feel Spirit and know peace.
Sheryl says that one day when driving in the car she experienced a moment of pure light and heat flowing through her whole body and felt such joy that she was able to know It was her soul reaching up to the sunlight and Spirit and blessing life in its beauty and infinite wisdom.
As a Reiki Master Teacher like Master Paul attuned to that spiritual discipline and practice of soul healing. I give a definition of Soul Healing or multidimensional healing in my book The Living Spirit and wrote, “As All these modalities of energy healing are further integrated into our health system we will undoubtedly see more and more people pursuing energy healing as full time careers. It is impossible for all to understand their role in the healing process. The healing itself is an agreement between God and the patient’s soul. The healer—whether he or she is a Reiki practitioner, MD or both—is merely the conduit of these healing energies. In addition the patient can also learn to directly connect with the healing energies particularly through meditation.”
Asked how a person can use Soul knowledge to communicate with other souls and have it positively affect their everyday life Master Paul might say “Whenever a person thinks about a loved one or says their name that soul or eternal energy is around them and one can feel and access their love and thoughts through being in the silence or quiet time of meditation or prayer. To develop this gift one needs to follow a regular spiritual practice Sheryl follows the Reiki 5 Laws which like Tao Buddhism lead us to live a simple and harmonious life being loving kind thoughtful and flow in the experiences that present themselves without judgment and lower vibrational emotions such as anger envy fear distrust and so on.
People interested in the ancient healing arts and spiritualism hope to bring this knowledge and love of Spirit to more people especially in these times of upheaval and so much dissention between different religious groups and spiritual practices by understanding the unity and onesness of all life as connected to Universal Source the Divine or Universal Energy that sustains us all.
We can work with many people wounded in childhood by trauma emotional sexual or physical abuse or parents with addictions and other issues. One day Sheryl had a client and one of the messages received for her prior to her session was of seeing a girl fall down and feel like a rag doll too weak to move or get up. Sheryl had no idea what it meant but felt uncomfortable while receiving that impression. The woman immediately told her she had been sexually abused by her father for years and that was her lying on the floor unable to get up. Sheryl felt like crying but quickly responded that she was not a victim and her father was the problem. The woman had made a good life for herself now and had her own family. Sheryl was proud of her resilience and ability to not be a victim. Now after Sheryl felt what she had felt she was free and could truly let it go and not bring back that hurtful memory of the past any longer. For each time a painful hurtful memory which no longer lives except in the past it is brought back, talked about, given life and energy again and destroys the present moment where something valuable and loving can be created. Memories of the past should not be resurrected. She had the ability to create what brought her joy now.
Master Paul may believe the reason for a physical life and how can we learn to appreciate life as the gift it really is, is by moving beyond fear limitation and sorrow or pain as all spiritual lifestyles encourage. Perhaps the reason for a physical life is simply to remember the soul and the eternal nature of life.
In The Living Spirit Sheryl wrote, “Throughout the amazing journey of awakening I learned several truths. The first is that there is indeed an afterlife: the second is that the separation between this world and the next is not a thick impenetrable wall, but a thin veil that allows our loved ones in spirit to communicate with us and we with them. We are never alone. We are guided by these loved ones at all times. They assist us in making the choices in this life that prepare us for the next dimension where we will encounter further support for our soul development in that world. The assistance received from spiritual influences will be in proportion to our wish for help and to the effort we expend in our self-growth process in this lifetime.”
I thank Master Paul Fletcher for sharing his journey to truth and to the Spiritual essence of life that waits for us to appreciate and utilize our divine gifts and to bring love and joy into the physical world.
In summarizing this episode of Healing From Within Master Paul Fletcher has shared in words and a life time of actions setting an example of living a wholesome and simple lifestyle, his desire to serve humanity and share the Universal Divine Energy of love and compassion that is the healing vibration that flows through those who have been born and chosen to bring that part of heaven to earth as they resolve their own traumas and misconceptions and know Love in its all powerful and inspiring way, To move mountains and to heal hearts and move humanity towards it’s true destiny to live in the higher realms of awareness and higher consciousness is the desire and life experience of those who chose this way. There are many paths to this state of Knowing and all are appreciated by Spirit. Effort consistency and dedication are the foundations of all spiritual practices and lead to achieving a state of peace and reverence for all life forms. Who really could turn away from this path which opens up the heart and mind and allows us to overcome any sense of frustration or failure to finally know that there is no loss, no good or bad, right or wrong, only personal experiences of the soul essence to refine and renew itself through the challenges of the physical world. The post TAO HEALING WISDOM appeared first on WebTalkRadio.net.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” your host Sheryl Glick author of Life Is No Coincidence and The Living Spirit which shares stories of spiritual awakening communication healing energies miracles and ways to develop and utilize your intuitive wisdom. Today I welcome Marc Treitler author of Alcohol Drugs and You which his daughter Lianna worked with him on in order to share their personal journey of success in dealing with alcoholism and learning the actual facts to help young people deal with challenges in their own lives and to make good choices to avoid spiraling into a lifetime of addiction and suffering.
Sheryl directs listeners to the radio link of her website September 2018 www.sherylglick.com to listen to Marc discuss his first book Alcoholism Is A Disease Let’s Treat It!
Listeners of “Healing From Within” have come to expect over the years that Sheryl and her guests share intimate experiences along with facts and insights to help us focus on both our energetic presence and physical life so we may begin to recognize Who We Are? and How Best to create a purposeful healthy human and spiritual life journey working our way past illness pain and suffering to health positivity and a prosperous life with love and healthy interactions with family.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Marc Treitler a successful corporate attorney loving husband and father and a recovering alcoholic shares his total growing awareness of the effect alcoholism had on his life until his recovery initiated by his daughter Lianna, along with statistics and information the public needs to know about alcoholism as a disease. Marc and his daughter Lianna are on a mission to reach kids before they become statistics by learning the facts on the abuse issues associated with alcohol and other substances.
When asked to think back to his childhood and remember a person place event dream or thought that was important to them Marc tells us of his first therapist who helped him understand how to deal with alcoholism and gave him a ring telling him it was no coincidence they were here together implying that a certain higher force was at work to support and help Marc move past his own dependence on alcohol so he could help others do the same. Perhaps he had to suffer to understand the seriousness of the disease so he could have a calling and passion to help others. Sheryl who believes nothing in our life is random is delighted Marc realized the synchronicity of that first counselor as a gift from those above.
Marc also tells us about growing up in a family with a history of addiction, Marc Treitler succumbed to alcoholism while in college. Despite a successful corporate career Marc continued to drink until an off- hand comment by his daughter woke him up to the damage his drinking was doing to him and to the relationship he cherished. While in recovery, Marc realized the power of information. It was while teaching his children what he had learned in rehab that the idea for Marc and Lianna’s book took hold. Today through books, speaking and their “Rosebud Foundation” the Treitlers work to help young people stay alcohol and substance free.
Marc tells us something of the pressures that lead him to drink excessively and also the fact that if alcoholism is in the family a child is susceptible to activating the disease even from taking that first drink. Marc suggests this book is for the person who decides to read it as they are moving towards independence and an understanding of their choices, challenges and the destructiveness of substance abuse they may see around them, so they can equip themselves with what it takes to avoid falling into its trap. In most families alcohol is a normal part of entertaining. Many of us see our parents serve drinks to their friends and observe their parents have a glass of wine or beer before dinner. For many of us that is just a part of regular life, and we are lead to believe we must follow this pattern. But for kids to reach adolescence without having some exposure to adults drinking alcohol is nearly impossible.
What you may not realize is the potential for these substances to take over your life and make you dependent on them forever.
Sheryl tells Marc that she just looked at an issue of US magazine and opened to a page showing everyone holding a glass of wine or alcohol and the caption was “Wine-Down Time” The media and advertisers have been promoting a culture of abuse of all kinds: verbal sexual addiction and a lack of respect for family values for a long time. The thought, “Anything goes” which of course is not true, has become the mainstay of our personal attitudes and behaviors. It must change for the many ills of our cultural decline to improve.
Despite the volume of accumulated medical knowledge about alcoholism many still think it is a choice. When does drinking stop being a choice? Marc tells us drinking or any addiction stops being a choice when you do not have the knowledge that might have stopped you from activating a disease which once activated needs to be controlled for the rest of one’s life. If our children are taught some of the following ideas we might prevent many from becoming alcoholics.
Subscribe with your favorite podcast player
Apple PodcastsAndroidRSSOne thing is apparent many addicts have not been about the downside of addiction or the disease hiding in their genes. Marc’s family genetic tree included dozens of addicts and alcoholics which means that he had addiction in his genes.
We go on to define an alcoholic. According to the dictionary a alcoholic is someone who uses alcohol to excess and becomes addicted to it to the detriment of their health and well-being.
Marc writes, “Doctors politicians teachers and addiction specialists have been talking about drug and alcohol addictions for the last hundred years –even at one point legally banning alcohol—and yet the epidemic is getting worse. From one generation to the next, the cycle of addiction worsens.”
An addict is a person who has a disease that makes it almost impossible to stop using drugs or drinking alcohol on his or her own. If your father drinks beer every night, he might have the disease of alcoholism which is also a type of addiction. Experts say that addicts, while unlike non-addicts are “allergic” to drugs and alcohol. This allergy makes it almost impossible to stop drinking or using drugs once he or she have started. While you are more susceptible to becoming an addict if there is addiction in your family the truth is anyone can develop an addiction. The addicts brain reacts differently to certain substances than a non-addicts brain does. It’s like if a person has a peanut allergy and begins to swell up after eating a single peanut while another person has no reaction at all. The addict’s brain says, “Have another drink.” While the non- addict’s brain says, “ Let’s go home.” Remember we’re talking about a disease.
Children of an alcoholic are up to eight times more lightly to become alcoholics than are the children of a non-alcoholic.
Sheryl goes on to say that we are at the present time seeing people addicted to all kinds of stimuli: social media, food binging, shopping, gambling as well as alcoholism excessive exercise practices, drugs pills etc. All are symptoms of an unhappy state within a person and an inability to recognize in some cases that they are using any repetitive form of behavior as an escape.
Sheryl says , “Addiction unhappiness suicides and a general social decline is at an all time high worldwide. The real problem begins with not teaching our children an awareness of Universal Laws of Energy and a metaphysical approach to understanding our spiritual as well as our physical life needs. Sheryl goes on to share that our culture promotes violence, abuse, and the theme that we are entitled to everything we desire or immediate gratification. We are encouraged to believe this as we see this on television, in the movies, in our music, and social media and it is an unrealistic approach to finding happiness as it implies the outside world is what brings happiness and the truth is happiness comes from within with a greater love for Self and Life and workable sustainable values.
There are only two emotions in life and everything else falls into one of the two categories…Fear and Love. Encouraging people to assess their choices by seeing which side of the equation they are in at the moment, as the body soul and mind are in a continual state always moving from fear or unhappiness to love and happiness. Awareness and consciousness of what is truly good for us as souls is what is needed more than ever during these challenging changing times.
The media is busy now talking about Toxic Masculinity and looking to blame an entire group or half of the world population for the problems we are experiencing now. But that is a truly unrealistic way to correct what really is destroying our society…Economic and social injustice and not learning tolerance of all people as they are, not as we expect them to be. Looking to use labels to find answers to problems is ineffective. We cannot simply talk about these problems but must discover and find our way to wholeness, pass addiction, hatred, judgment and negativity. KNOWLEDGE AND TRUTH ARE THE WAY.
Let think about the differences of similarities between alcohol and drug use and abuse. We refer to both addiction and alcoholism which in reality are the same thing. The disease of addiction uses both drugs and alcohol to hook people. So, when we say either drugs or alcohol we mean both. That includes illegal substances such as heroin and legal substances you see advertised such as beer.
The brain of an addict does not care whether drugs or alcohol are entering the addicts system. To your brain alcohol is a drug and drugs are alcohol. For addiction, are drugs different than alcohol and the answer is NO! An alcoholic dad is not different from a drug addict living on the street. A woman hiding bottles of vodka is no different than a man concealing his cocaine. For years Marc justified his alcoholism by saying he never did drugs, yet he ended up in the same rehab as heroin addicts. Whether a person’s drug of choice is heroine or beer, anyone who is unable to stop using the substance is an addict.
Marc writes, “I know addicts who take only pills prescribed by doctor and never drank alcohol, and has known addicts who only smoke marijuana : they avoid beer. Yet they all ended up in the same place. An alcoholic can easily transfer his addition to heroin because his brain treats both substances the same way. To your brain, alcohol is a drug and drugs are alcohol. So if your mom is taking too many pain pills, or your dad is drinking too many beers, they might both be addicted.
Marc tells us that when we think of alcoholics or addicts we tend to think of people whose lives are unproductive people who live on the edges of society yet many alcoholics and addicts are talented intelligent people and can still be successful while drinking yet still they pay a price for diminishing their energy and often not feeling their optimum best. It is indeed very common and often people work and socialize with others having the same addictive issues, so it is denied, overlooked, rationalized, and people function on the fringe of well being not fully present happy or living their full potential for a well balanced joyful life experience. It may be managed like many diseases, but never truly understood or allowing for full disclosure.
It must be know that some people have a genetic predisposition to substance abuse and others don’t. How and when do we know we have that gene and what should be done in that case? Even without being tested for the gene if you are in a family with a mother father sister uncle aunt grandparent who has had an addictive lifestyle, it would be wise to think you could have the predisposition or gene and simply never start with any abusive substance including marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, beer, wine, liquor, crack, Benzoes, valium, or crystal meth, bath salts, or other synthetic drugs It’s all poison
So if your mother father aunt uncle grandparent or great grandparents is or was an alcoholic or drug addict you most likely carry the same predispositions for the disease.
This means you have two choices:
I guess there is no specific age but you could start talking about it before a party or an occasion where people are drinking. Children are very observant and might notice how loud or unpleasant a person who is drinking becomes. Marc says after going through a 28 day program at rehab, I wish I had known about this when I was young. What if during my college years I’d been told that I had a fatal disease and couldn’t drink alcohol like a normal college student. What if I had known that this disease was easy to avoid? And what about the rest of my family? What if my sister and cousins had been informed that youthful experimentation with drugs or alcohol would lead them to a lifetime struggle with addiction.
Sheryl goes on to tell Marc that she has heard President Trump on several occasions say that he has never had an alcoholic drink. It seems his older brother died from addiction alcoholism and other mitigating factors and he told Donald never ever take a drink. Perhaps he understood the disease and that there was a genetic predisposition to becoming an alcoholic. President Trump may drink Diet Coke but not alcohol.
It may get easier to get kids to communicate with parents by doing certain activities together. Perhaps watching television or a movie that shows a family struggling with addiction divorce financial problems can open up a pathway for some healthy talk. Listening to your children’s concerns and observing when they are challenged or struggling with understanding daily events or even tragic events.
Sheryl says, Recently there were two young fathers in my daughter’s community that committed suicide. A sad time indeed for the families and community, but also a good time for an open truthful talk of the conditions affecting us all in these changing challenging times. A way to teach your children that they can and must ask for help…Everyone can find help for their problems.
It bears repeating : non-addicts can drink alcohol and not become alcoholics. People with alcoholism in their genes do not have this luxury. One drink too many in high school or college could turn you into an alcoholic forever. But your predisposition genetically may not turn into a full blown disease. You have the control and now you have the knowledge.
There are signs for kids or parents to see a problem at home. Lianna writes “During the years of my dad’s drinking my parents would often fight. The words they would scream at each other would replay for hours in my head and the sounds would echo in my mind until I fell asleep. I would often pray that my parents would find happiness and that God would blanket our house with His care and make the fighting stop.”
Sheryl says other signs to take note of would be to see how many bottles were accumulating or disappearing, or if your parents seemed more tired and unable to do their normal activities. Sleeping more, less care in taking care of themselves, or the house, not paying attention to the responsibilities they have, or attending important family or work events are all signs that something is amiss.
Some of the ways you may tell if a member of your family is an addicted to alcohol or drugs.
Identifying an addict in your family tree will help you understand the disease you may face.
We are watching now as marijuana is being legalized in many states. Marc and Sheryl are truly disturbed by how politicians are fueling and pushing laws to legalize recreational use of this drug. Marc tells us that only today a new study shows that marijuana diminishes cognitive function and a loss of intellect or IQ points in our young people whose brains are still maturing until the age of twenty five.
Marc addressed this situation by saying our country is in the midst of a troubling trend of legalizing marijuana and on January 1, 2018 California became the latest state to make recreational use or marijuana legal along with Oregon Washington Colorado and Nevada and virtually to use this drug in the same way as alcohol is used. Sheryl says, ”I am seriously disheartened to see the way local states are using this to provide money. It is obvious they have no understanding of easy it is for our children to become addicts and how these substances act differently in the brains of one predisposed to becoming an addict. Marijuana will only serve to be a gateway drug to other addictive substances.
Marc agrees with Sheryl that making marijuana legal is a horrifying idea for our children and non productive for our nation, and in the end will continue to cost us more to combat the opiod and drug crisis. There is a massive amount of power and wealth behind this legalization effort, but like other attempts to control populations this effort is consistently incompatible with the well-being of our society. According to Arcview Market Research’s 2017 report legal sales of marijuana are expected to surpass $22 billion by 2020..suntan production in 2016 was only 1.6 billion…The increase in profits is all that matters here.
Here are a few legitimate statistics to bear in mind:
Marijuana is absolutely addictive and is the “ambition killer” in people. In a socialized society like the Far Left Radical political left is pushing for a disengaged and dying population would make perfect sense. Getting high and chilling out is actually the death of creation and positive life styles. We cannot allow government corporate interests or the stagnant status quo leadership try to guide us to more control over all areas of our life in the pursuit of making more profits. We need an alert and educated population to protect our Republic and democratic way of life.
It is clear to anyone who has a love of life our country and young people that this push for the legalization of marijuana gambling or any dysfunctional activity is making money for the rich and a detriment to middle class society. It must be stopped.
Parents must work to create an environment where competition and parental expectations do not overwhelm their children and help our children explore what they need to create happiness self esteem and self confidence.
Sheryl writes in her book The Living Spirit “When asked, “How can I find peace and happiness in my life? This is the answer I give them: Before there can be peace and happiness in a person’s life and in the world, every person must be responsible to do their own work about acknowledging what needs to change within their attitudes or actions so that they may better relate to the outer world. Finding true happiness and joy is the natural outcome of self-investigation. There are no shortcuts. No one can make you happy or unhappy unless you give them the power to do that by surrendering or giving your own power away.” Marc tells Sheryl that thought is a strong message of AA and any rehab program..
Marc and his daughter Lianna suggest some tools or practices for raising an emotionally healthy child. Have them engage in healthy activities: sports, clubs, reading, family events, working for charities. And simply talking to you and you asking them personal open ended questions…Really listen beyond the words while watching body language and what makes them change moods. Respect their opinions and if you can suggest other ways of doing or perceiving events discuss that but don’t diminish their feelings. Setting a good example by your own behavior is a must and getting professional help if you see your child or any member of your family or friends is running into trouble. Be very aware of limiting time on social media and pay attention to theirr friends and the families where they spend time. You probably don’t want them with people who you know are alcoholics or show other addictive problematic behaviors.
According to the CDC our children are starting to abuse alcohol as early as age 8 and the stats on young driver alcohol related deaths are staggering. So why knowing this, is the country now set on a course to make marijuana for recreational use legal. Sheryl says she has actually spoken to many parents who feel it’s better than alcohol for their children. They are so unaware of the consequences and problems. They are just being feed talking points by the media and or political pendants.
Once there is an addiction problem the best solution is to begin discussions and find a rehab program and counselor. Marc says in his research he has discovered that addict families are less likely to discuss serious issues than non-addict families are. Addict families tend to bottle up emotions and often treat family issues with a “better off not spoken” about attitude. But the reality is with drugs and alcohol as available as they are these days and with so many dysfunctional families, a conversation about the dangers inherent in them is absolutely necessary. The average American child begins drinking in middle school The conversation should start before that.
Marc would want readers to take away with them after reading your new book Alcohol Drugs and You-A Young Person’s Guide to Avoiding Addiction that there are four stages of alcoholism and other addictions. Addiction is a progressive disease In other words over time it gets worse not better. Alcoholics do not grow out of it.
The stages are:
Sheryl thanks Marc and Lianna Treitler for working to help others to avoid falling into a lifetime trap of alcoholism or any other addiction by beginning to recognize the behaviors and lifestyle that foster such action. We learn that everyone is constantly moving from the negative feelings of fear anxiety pain to the positive spectrum of life joy happiness and positivity and every interaction and event lead us to be part of that dynamic. When in pain and negative emotional states a person is susceptible to finding relief and that is how an addiction is born. A more open minded and open hearted approach to loving your children and life are the ways for better communication and understanding of individual needs which must be observed and then respected.
In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing from Within” we have touched on a very serious concern in modern day American Society. In a world where materialism and success is measured in monetary and socially accepted ways to relate to the world, our children are losing bits and pieces of their innate energetic or soul essence which naturally knows that, life is good, and individual development of our personal needs is necessary to bring joy positivity and success on a multi-dimensional level, spiritual and physical world realty. We say we want our children to be happy, but then expose them to conditions, rules, and our expectations for choosing friends, hobbies, work situations, and even how they spend their quiet free time. In other words our children are either living with parents who monitor their every action, and control their very thoughts, or living with parents who have their own societal and emotional distresses, and are not present at all. It is in helping all our citizens understand the nature of Life, and how to create a better life by becoming aware of their thoughts actions and behaviors, that we may begin to understand how our emotional well being is the key to avoiding or conquering addictive behavior. It all begins with education and our values, including an acceptance of people, and allowing each of us to find our own path forward without so much judgment and restriction.
Marc Lianna and I would hope you know that no matter how challenging your situation or problem may be, the first step on the road to knowing yourself and loving life begins with asking questions, observing patterns, building self-confidence, self-love, and asking for help when needed. Before you know it, life improves and there is a way past the darkness to light.

Welcome to “Healing From Within” with host Sheryl Glick author of Life Is No Coincidence and The Living Spirit Answers For Healing and Infinite Love which shares stories of spiritual awakening spiritual communication healing energies miracles and ways to utilize your intuition for greater health and prosperity and welcome to Amy Beth Ballon author of Fabulous to Framed which shares with us that all too often an innocent person is arrested simply because the police are called and must arrest someone not always the perpetrator and there has been an increase in the number of women being arrested because of domestic violence complaints. In these troubled challenging times “false accusation” and misinformation as well as judgment has become a new problem in our culture and social media thinking processes.
As listeners of “Healing From Within” have come to know Sheryl and her guests share our intimate truthful experiences and insights so we may begin to know ourselves, who we are and how life functions on both a spiritual or energetic level, and on a physical level as well. The purpose is to find ways to align ourselves to the Universal Laws of Energy so we may handle the challenges in the physical world and create our best version of life, using intuition and awareness of higher consciousness as we attract the best people conditions and results no matter what the challenge is.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Amy Beth Ballon who now works with the Innocence Project as a result of her own traumatic experience will share how naïve she was about the justice system until she was falsely accused and arrested. With mandatory arrest laws in 30 states which require someone be arrested if the police are called, there’s been an increase of women arrested. Between 30-40% are arrested on domestic violence calls, yet conviction rates remain at 95% men. It’s an epidemic. This second level of victimization can ruin a person.
When Amy thinks back to her childhood to remember a person place or event that may have led to the experiences and decisions in their adult life and perhaps created or added to the values and lifestyle she leads now she tells us that she lived in an affluent successful family with two brothers and as the non-conformist middle child and only daughter, she rebelled against the strict rules her parents set for her and left home during her senior year of high school. It was such an abrupt break-off that an entire year would pass before I would be reunited with my parents. Obviously Amy’s parents weren’t helicopter parents who barely allow their children to breathe without checking in with them. Amy ran away to my best friend Karen’s home in Pacific Palisades. She jokes saying it wasn’t much like running away from home, because she could hardly think moving from Brentwood to Pacific Palisades to be considered a hard-core runaway experience. My parents didn’t try to contact me during that year and they missed many milestones in my life, including my high school graduation. My grandmother, aunt, and uncle came to my graduation, but that was it for family.
Living with Karen’s family showed me a different side of what being part of a family really felt like, and Amy says she is forever grateful. Karen and Amy met in the ninth grade and have been friends for more than four decades. We’ve been blessed with a rare friendship that has withstood the test of time.
Karen’s biggest gift to Amy was her mother, the now-deceased Honorable Federal Judge Florence Marie Cooper. Florence was a single mother in her thirties, raising two young children while working as a paralegal. One day her boss, who also went on to become a judge, told her that she was too bright not to become a lawyer. Florence said that as a single mother in her thirties, she didn’t see how she could do that. He pressed her further, and Florence did go on to become a lawyer. Isn’t it amazing how people we meet inspire and encourage us to move out of our comfort zones and expand our inner true potential. Judge Cooper did that for Amy.
Florence became a Superior Court Commissioner. She came home each day and told us interesting stories of people who were in her courtroom. Florence was eventually appointed to Federal Court Judge, where she worked on high-profile cases. She handled a case about the daughter of a Holocaust survivor whose parents lost a Gustav Klimt painting to the Germans during World War II. The woman in the case lived in the U.S and the painting was in Austria. Florence is credited in the 2015 movie about this case, “Woman in Gold,’’ and Florence’s name is in the film credits.
Amy tells us what life was before and after the domestic violence incidence. Amy wrote, “Both literally and figuratively, I never saw it coming. And why would I? Until that night, my life had been fabulous. I had two beautiful and loving children, a successful career in real estate, and a circle of cherished friends. Other than what I had seen on television, I had never been exposed to an abusive relationship. I grew up in Brentwood, California and was raised in a “good” family. Domestic violence simply was not a part of my world.” I had been married once before and had other lengthy relationships, but I never feared that a man I was with would ever hit me, and I certainly never feared for my life. All of that changed on a Monday night in October of 2014. On that night, I became a victim of domestic violence. Now, though, I felt like a shell of my former self. I was the victim of domestic violence and I was fighting a heinous charge against me, with major consequences if found guilty. I felt like I was wearing a scarlet letter for all to see. My identity was stolen from me. It was as if half of me was confident, powerful and successful while the other half was scared, alone and traumatized.”
Amy decided to write this book to bring new awareness to the downfalls of mandatory arrests and reporting laws. Victims of domestic violence too often fall victim to wrongful arrests and charges. This intimate partner violence shatters the victim it is perpetrated upon. Calling for help in fear for your life, only to be wrongfully arrested, adds another layer of victimization and a feeling of helplessness. The voice you used to protect yourself is not only silenced, but now you are publicly victim-blamed as your perpetrator becomes the perceived “victim.” This has become more prominent since political groups often favor certain categories of people as “victims}, seek to protect and favor them accusing and attacking anyone not from that group. This is the effect of identity politics over the last twenty years from the Radical Far Left community which has influenced all aspects of life within corporations families and legal decision making. Political Correctness has limited freedom of speech as this allows for only certain viewpoints and discussion is not encouraged and can even be actively violently discouraged. It truly infringes on our constitutional rights and must be ended for law and order to prevail.
Amy tells us of the end of her second marriage and the attack that was to change your life. Already in the process of getting a divorce after a short time being married Amy had allowed her partner to stay over the last time as his apartment was not ready. The mood that evening was tense, and a few harsh words were exchanged. Eventually, we both went to sleep and the evening ended without incident. The next night, he wanted me to meet him for dinner so we could talk over a few things. Hesitantly, Amy accepted his invitation. The week before had been full of cruel words and chillingly odd behavior that she hadn’t seen from him before during their short marriage. She didn’t really want to go because her real estate partner and Amy had been working 12-hour days on our new multi-million-dollar project on the beach and she was exhausted and also “talked-out.” There was really nothing left of our marriage and there wasn’t anything else to say that would salvage it. He was staying at my condo because he’s new place was not ready yet.
As he headed to the bathroom, Amy crawled under the covers, looking forward to the night being over. As she laid down in bed, Amy grabbed her phone to text a friend. Amy’s nerves were already shot from the nonstop issues we were dealing with, and the next day could not come soon enough. When he came out of the bathroom, instead of walking to what was his side of the bed, he made a beeline for me. He pounced onto my side of the bed and dug his knee deeply into my waist, grabbing my arms to take my phone. Fear overtook me because he began screaming at me, trying to get to my phone and demanding to know who I was texting. I am 5-foot-4 and 118 pounds, and he is 6-foot and 225 pounds, so I was no match for him. He easily restrained me as I struggled to escape. When he finally pulled the phone from my hand, Amy watched a darkness come over him as he read the texts. A chill ran through her body as she looked at this stranger in front of me. She no longer recognized this man that she had once loved. This was the moment she realized that the person she had trusted with her life was gone and had been replaced by a person where lies, deceit, and manipulation would now reside.
He slammed the phone against my bedside table. Amy jumped out of bed to try to take it back, but he tackled her, threw her to the ground, and again used his knee to strike me in the side. The broken glass from the front of my phone was everywhere and the thumb on Amy’s left hand was sliced by one of the shards. He threw the phone, and when he released his grip on me, Amy ran to the kitchen to get his keys, so he could never re-enter our condo again. As she reached the kitchen, he caught up to me and shoved me to the floor. Once he had knocked me down, he dug his thumb into my neck and held my head down with his hand while pushing his knee squarely against my back. I was completely immobilized. The pressure was so intense Amy thought her head was going to be crushed. He held me down hard for a while, then placed me in a cop hold, which is used by police officers when subduing a violent offender. He knew what he was doing, because he was trained to do it. He was a former police officer. A was lying on the floor in his tight grip for what seemed to be an eternity. Afterward, he got off of her and walked to our balcony. In a state of shock, Amy slowly got up off the kitchen floor and watched her husband, a man she no longer knew throw her phone off of the balcony. She knew then that she had to run. Amy was in fear for my life and exited the condo wearing nothing more than pajamas. Bruised, battered and barefoot, she ran out of the condo and down to the lobby to call the police.
While she was on the phone with the dispatcher, Amy’s husband arrived in the lobby. With her back to him, she heard him yell at the concierge, “Did she call the cops?” The concierge answered yes, to which he yelled that he also needed to call an ambulance because she had stabbed him with a knife. Incredulous, I told the dispatcher he had just arrived in the lobby saying I stabbed him, which was an outright lie. I also said on the recorded 911 call that he must have stabbed himself after I had left the condo and he was going to try to blame it on me. When the 911 call was later played for me by my lawyer, we could clearly hear the shift in my voice on that call from, “I am a victim, please help me,’’ to “Oh my God, I am going to be accused of stabbing him.’’
As a child, I had been taught to believe that if I was ever in danger, I should call 911 and the police would save me. Little did I know that as a result of dialing 911 that night, the course of my life would be changed forever. His story and his accusations were quite different than Amy’s.
Amy wrote, “The stories, told within four hours of one another, were in total contradiction of the first story he told. I was the victim of a raging, jealous man, and I can recall – in crystal clear detail – the entire attack from start to finish. My story has never changed. I suppose the great irony in that is many people asked me afterward if it was possible that I stabbed him in self-defense. I certainly displayed the wounds of a person viciously attacked, and it would not have been inconceivable. No, there was no self-defense, only fear for my life, which is what led me to run out of the front door of our condo once my phone was thrown over the balcony. I have been told, by too many people, that the self-defense statement would’ve been much better than the truth. But the fact remains that I did not stab this man. I was not there when this man was stabbed, and I did not witness his stabbing. “
This incidence change Amy immeasurably. “This one night stripped me of everything I was, and my life would forever change. The man I thought I loved turned me from victim to criminal with his lies, all in a matter of minutes.”
But then you tell us that you had met many men who were emotionally unavailable for a full time long term loving arrangement or marriage and wrote, “Since childhood, I lived in a world where “no’’ and “failure” were not options. In many ways, fearlessness is an admirable trait, but when you’re dating someone and they say they are not interested in a relationship, they mean it. To me, in those circumstances, all I ever saw was a challenge. But after four engagements to men who vowed to never get married again, that mantra did not serve me well. My pattern of dating emotionally unavailable men did not get me what I wanted. It was evident that these men were asking me to marry them only because they had a fear of losing me. They were willing to put a ring on my finger, but they really didn’t want to be married to me – or anyone else, for that matter. In the end, a proposal for marriage should come from the desire to be together forever. There is a huge difference between getting something out of the fear of loss rather than the deep desire of love.
Sheryl says “Perhaps these challenging relationships and even the one with your father who was a perfectionist and if expectations was not met was ready to tell you that you might not amount to much. It was his way or the highway it seems.” We do seem to carry our childhood habits into new relationships often without understanding we are repeating the same pattern. For Amy her good will and lack of understanding the narcissistic personality traits of her husband led to the accusation led to years of involvement with law agencies. She learned then that often the accuser is the problem and should not be allowed to get away with defaming others. They need to be called out for their behaviors. Many of them are mentally ill. Some suffer with Narcissistic Personality Disorder or Borderline personality disorder or are sociopaths or psychopaths without empathy. Whatever the problem they often create serious problems for others and move from one place to another when they are found out.
Amy goes on to tell how things changed after the incident, “Over the next several months, as I was building my business and working long enough hours to keep my mind off the real-life issues I was dealing with every day, I slowly but surely started receiving the depositions in my case. The first one deposed on July 30 was my ex-husband. My lawyer picked away at a lot of issues about him that were troubling. My lawyer brought up that he had lied to me when he first met me, leading me to believe he was divorced when he really was still married. At the end of the deposition, my lawyer asked him if he was given the opportunity, would he take a polygraph? He comes from law enforcement, so his answer was, “Well, if the state thinks I should.” My lawyer was quick to reply with, “That is not what I asked you. I asked, given the opportunity, would you take a polygraph?” He then said, “Of course. Yes.” I am sure at this point the prosecutor was cringing, because she was aware that I had already volunteered to take a polygraph test and I had passed with flying colors. Over the next few months, I would attend every calendar. Every month my lawyer would require an extension, because he could not prove my case until he had all the depositions from the police officers who were on the scene, and they were difficult to get scheduled.
With each reading, Amy was made more and more aware of how our system can be so flawed, and how those involved along the way take no responsibility for their actions. The next deposition was from the detective who was on the scene that night. He proceeded to say that the “defendant” refused to talk to him and wanted legal counsel. While this is true, Amy had already told my story to any officer who would listen. He repeated the story he had written in his report that was submitted by the state’s attorney, that “the victim’’ had been stabbed during a domestic violence incident that transpired as the result of arguing about infidelities.
Amy’s day to day life changes during the pendency of her case. Before the incident she was living the American dream. She drove an S-class Mercedes, her two beautiful children were healthy and happy, and her life was much more fruitful than I had ever imagined. She made many great friends in my 20-plus years in South Florida, and still have close friends in Los Angeles. These are friends for a lifetime, and she felt truly blessed. But after the attack and what followed Amy lost a large part of the trust and herself when she saw how the system handled her description of events and her husband’s rendition.
What Amy found quite compelling about that evening was that every single officer who arrived on the scene was made aware he was once a cop. It is her understanding that in domestic violence calls – and I would later read the policies on this at least a dozen times – the police are supposed to assess the two people involved in the altercation before arresting either person. But to these cops, that didn’t matter. All that mattered was that he had a stab wound, which was more compelling than the bruises all over my body.
That’s when the cop said those words that would haunt me forever. “You’re going to jail.’’ I was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony only one level under manslaughter. As in so many cases, I was a victim who became victimized not once, but twice. My crime was calling 911, and unlike my former cop/husband, I was unaware that someone always gets arrested in domestic violence cases. I never would have guessed that the someone would be me.
Amy was headed off to attend the Grammy Awards which she did every year and called her criminal lawyer to let him know I would be out of town, and that’s when he told her that the state had requested a copy of her polygraph test, so the state’s polygraphist could review it. The state prosecutor had made the request for the review. He said, “It looks as if they may dismiss the case. The state’s polygraphist agrees that you were truthful.’’
When I returned to Florida, I called my lawyer to get an update, and he said to meet him at the calendar call. I was shocked, because I thought we were done, and it was going to be all over. It turned out that it was far from over. The original prosecutor on my case was transferred to another county, and then, tragically, the polygraphist had a family member pass away and his report was not provided to the prosecutor in time for her to dismiss the charges. On February 19, 2016, I went to the courthouse accompanied by Jeffrey’s wife, Ingrid. As we walked in, my lawyer asked to speak with me outside. He told me not to get excited, but there was a new prosecutor on the case and the polygraphist report had still not been provided. He said I should be ready for the judge to set a date to start the trial, but he would try to get the two prosecutors to talk so the one who had been on my case for sixteen months could tell the new prosecutor all that was discovered during the pendency of this case. A court date was decided on.
The new prosecutor knew the state had already agreed that I had passed a polygraph. She knew I had no prior criminal record. She knew I was the one who called 911. She had seen the images of the crime scene which showed I had been assaulted. And if my ex-husband wasn’t going to come to the trial, why didn’t they force him to? To this day, there has been no accountability for any of these things.
On February 29, 2016, I stood next to my lawyer, and the state prosecutor stood at her podium. The judge entered the courtroom and welcomed me. The prosecutor addressed the judge, stating that she was going to ask for a “nolle prosequi,” which is a Latin legal term that means that they no longer wish to prosecute
As we left the courtroom, my lawyer asked if I knew just how rare this type of verdict was reached in domestic violence cases and that he even believed the state would pay for some of the forensics that I had to pay to prove my truth. Amy told her lawyer that whatever monies she received back from the incident would be donated to the Innocence Project. He asked how she knew about the Innocence Project and she reminded him of when she was introduced to the producer of 20/20 by a childhood friend and asked if they could film the court proceedings. When Amy first met that producer, she told him that her story was two-fold. First, it was a story about the brotherhood of the code of blue. But it wasn’t just about me and my story. Amy also told him that she’d learned about a young girl who was 21 years old when her child perished in a trailer home fire. She was wrongfully charged and convicted of killing her son and after serving more than twenty years in prison, she was exonerated by the work of the Innocence Project. And so began my work with the Innocence Project of Florida, Reflecting on what had happened to me, I wondered how many others had been victimized as I had been. It was with this thought in mind that I created “Raising Awareness For the Innocent.’’ This is the platform for my voice to be heard and to help support others who experienced the effects of being wrongfully charged. It is a site where those people are encouraged to use their voices in the face of adversity. They know they aren’t alone and that there are others who are experiencing the same feelings of injustice. I started Raising Awareness for the Innocent as an outlet to process the multitude of feelings of injustice I had. But in the process of building it, it has become a place where people can choose to embrace their pain, forgive whatever caused the pain, and learn to turn it into something to help others. To have courage when the odds are stacked against you serves a great purpose. Currently, there are more than 100,000 followers on the Raising Awareness for the Innocent page on Facebook.
Amy’s story like most women who marry abusive or violent men who have had a privileged safe life could not even imagine what she allowed herself to commit to. This man wanted to marry Amy quickly, he was from a very different lifestyle state and interests than Amy had. She really should not have been whisked into a quick decision without really paying attention to her own needs and requirements for what was important in a marriage. When they married, a life of peace and quiet stability was all Amy desired. Marrying a man who enhanced her life in beautiful ways was what she had always longed for. Marrying someone who would preclude her from achieving her goals was not what she was looking for. Amy was in too deep and knew it but didn’t know what was coming next. The night he attacked me, he sent a text to my daughter at 3:30 in the morning, stating that her mother was in trouble and she had to call her father. My daughter said to him that after all, he was the reason her mother had been arrested and, since he was a former police officer, he could have handled this without me going to jail. He knew how these things work. Next, she reminded him that he knew I was starting my own company and now, because of him, she would have a criminal record. Lastly, she reminded him that in the space of one week, he’d told her that her mother was going to commit suicide, she was having an affair, and that she is currently in jail. He was obviously the problem her. He also attempted to reach Jeffrey, Amy’s ex husband who refused to take the call or call him back. He tried to contact my former sister-in-law to tell “his side” of the story. When Amy received our phone bill, she learned exactly how many of my loved ones he had contacted or attempted to contact. There was so much for my brain to process: Spyware on all of my devices, phone calls of lies to my family, my mug shot in cyberspace for all to see, and a police report to read.
This sounds like Narcissistic Personality Disorder where they try to turn people against you manipulate control lie and set up facts that make it look like you are the problem. They are often quite good at doing this.”
Sheryl tells Amy she is interviewing Susan Sparks author of Sparks in Love who lived through twenty years of Domestic Abuse before getting out and offers this suggestion throughout her book STRENGTH + SUPPORT + PLAN = FREEDOM
Sheryl would like to think that nothing is bad or good, only experiences to ultimately remember we may have chosen this life and the challenges we would have for our soul to expand in greater awareness and higher consciousness so we might learn greater love in all its forms and greater compassion for other.
In Sheryl’s book The Living Spirit in reference to this thought she wrote, “It is possible with practice to recognize negative thoughts and experiences and dismiss them. At the same time, it is understood that there will always be people who choose to hide from their problems, whether out of fear, ignorance, or simply not knowing an alternative way. Perhaps they feel the darkness around them because others have acted towards them inappropriately and harmfully. They may believe that keeping secrets and avoiding change will shield them from issues they can’t face at the present time. In actuality only going towards the light and full truth can bring peace harmony balance and the end of suffering. As we cannot change the way anyone thinks or acts even those that we love the most, we can change our way of interacting with them. And this is an important soul discovery for each of us, regardless of our race, religion, or socioeconomic status.”
Amy Ballon author of Fabulous to Framed has shared her unique and painful experience and what she has learned about the justice system domestic abuse and violence and how we may all come to understand the dangerous and sick people who cause so many problems for people who are unable at times to even imagine this degree of control and disruption by one person for another often for no legitimate reasons.
In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have talked about a frightening subject that of being accused and imprisoned for false accusations. How can we begin to change the dynamics in a society and culture that has over the last twenty year being radically changed by social media and law enforcement that have been devalued by government and have lost their ability at times to act the way that should be expected but are often unable due to laws that are not right. Why would we arrest anyone on the basis of someone else’s accusation? How do we know if they are telling the truth or have another agenda at play? There must be due process and evidence at the time of an arrest. The person making the accusation must be able to prove it beyond the shadow of a doubt and other people must be questioned as well.
In the case of domestic abuse or violence sometimes there is physical proof of the incident and both people need to receive treatment and counseling. Of course the person should be removed from the home for a time if possible so there is no further escalation of the abuse. It is a difficult and challenging task for law officials to handle as often this is an ongoing problem and there are emotional or mental problems.
We must continue to shine light and remove shame guilt and blame from the problem and focus on the health issues economic and mental challenges that have created the dysfunction in the first place. Please make a plan with professional before youleave the home and make sure that the abuser doesn’t know what you are doing. Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline and ask them how to start your plan for getting out safely.
Amy and I would have you remember that in the end you will remember the best parts of yourself and life and move past the wounds and trauma of being involved in such a negative hurtful experience and will not be the victim but the survivor and wiser for the experience as you are able to view life with new perspective and know we all do the best we can at any given moment with the knowledge we have but change comes when we ask for it intuitively and we will be helped to achieve our soul journey through the physical challenges

As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware my guests and I share intimate experiences and insights into the world of energy and observe a metaphysical view of life, in the hopes of answering age old questions…Who are we? Where do we come from? And What is the purpose of a physical life experience? In understanding the duality of our spiritual and physical concerns we come to realize the oneness and value life often finding our destiny and life plan.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we will discuss a spiritual perspective on understanding terrorism poverty hunger desperation and despair in the Middle East and throughout the world and possible ways to alleviate the pain of the world by learning to share the world’s food and resources more equally leading the way to justice and peace. We will discuss how spiritual teachers throughout history have emerged to show humanity the next step forward. We will learn through the futurist Benjamin Crème how a group of such spiritual teachers living in the modern world, not as religious leaders, but to inspire all people, religious and non-religious alike, to create a civilization based on sharing justice and peace.
All the great religions posit the idea of a further revelation to be given by a future Teacher. Christians hope for the return of the Christ, the Buddhists look for the coming of another Buddha (the Lord Maitreya), while Muslims await the Imam Mahdi, the Hindus a reincarnation of Krishna, and the Jews the Messiah. Students of the esoteric tradition know all these as different names for the same individual — Maitreya, the World Teacher, the head of the Spiritual Hierarchy of Masters, and they look for His imminent return now.
In July 1977, Maitreya emerged from His centre in the Himalayas, when least expected, “like a thief in the night.” Since then, He has lived in London as an ordinary man concerned with modern problems — political, economic and social. Since March 1978, He has been emerging as a spokesman in the Pakistani-Indian community. He is not a religious leader, but an educator in the broadest sense — pointing the way out of the present world crisis. According to esoteric teaching, Maitreya manifested Himself 2,000 years ago in Palestine by overshadowing His disciple Jesus — now the Master Jesus.
This time Maitreya has come Himself. Maitreya’s spiritual teaching: Maitreya does not intend to build a new religion around Himself, nor to create followers, but to teach humanity “the art of Self-realization.”
The first steps are “honesty of mind, sincerity of spirit and detachment.” Maitreya’s social concern is reflected in His list of priorities: an adequate supply of the right food, adequate housing and shelter for all, healthcare and education as a universal right.
His social message can be summarized in a few words: “Share and save the world.” Maitreya knows we will accept His advice and that we are on the threshold of an era of peace and goodwill.
In late 1991, Maitreya began carrying out a series of appearances like the one in Nairobi, Kenya. There, on 11 June 1988, He appeared miraculously, “out of the blue,” at an open-air prayer/healing meeting. He was photographed addressing (in their own language) thousands of people who instantly recognized Him as the Christ. Similar events have now been witnessed by large numbers in different countries.
In December 2008 Benjamin Crème a visionary and founder of Share International announced that in the very near future a large, bright star would appear in the sky visible throughout the world, night and day, heralding the imminent appearance of Maitreya in His first interview on a major US television programme. Within weeks reports from all over the world of an unusually bright star, often moving and changing colour, began to appear in the media and on YouTube
In thinking about what a spiritual master is Sheryl says… For me….A spiritual master is one who has discovered the being within and the eternal life force as a result of a spiritual transformation and lives in alignment to Spirit Nature and man learning to trust and be open to the possibilities for creative change and to living joyfully accepting and allowing to be detached from judgment and control, and knowing All is happening as it should according to a Universal Divine plan.
I wrote in my book The Living Spirit, “Spiritual transformation is the key to manifesting a better physical experience, period. It is also necessary to attain life achievements that are not only materially advantageous but are a real reflection of your true Divine Self. Coincidentally, spiritual transformation also allows us to find our higher selves and a connection to universal energy….By seeking deeper knowledge of your soul, heart energy, and your life purpose, you automatically begin to remember that you are more than your body, more than the material or physical world: you are part of a higher life force that is eternal and divine.”
On 14 January 2010 Benjamin Creme announced that Maitreya had given His first interview, on American television, and that millions had heard Him speak both on television and the internet. Benjamin Creme explained: “He was introduced not as Maitreya, the World Teacher and Head of our Spiritual Hierarchy, but simply as a man, one of us. In this way He ‘ensures that men follow and support Him for the truth and sanity of His ideas rather than for His status’. He spoke earnestly of the need for peace, achievable only through the creation of justice and the sharing of the world’s resources.” Maitreya has now given a series of 92 television interviews [as of 11 April 2013]—in the USA, Mexico, Brazil and Russia—and more are expected to take place in the Americas, Japan, Europe and the rest of the world. Maitreya’s open mission has begun. Maitreya expects this approach to lead to the Day of Declaration, when He will leave no doubt that He is the World Teacher. Maitreya will mentally ‘overshadow’ all of humanity simultaneously. Each of us will hear His words inwardly, telepathically, in our own language, and all will know that the World Teacher is now among us.
When Sheryl asks Felicity and Julian how she can direct guests to hear the message of Maitreya Julian says he is “Incognito” but when you listen to leaders who are expressing these ideas of sharing and saving the planet he is seemingly speaking through many teachers and souls who are on his vibration and mission to heal and restore humanity and the world to the beautiful soul energies of peace and love.
Maitreya is going to inspire us to action such as with sharing based on an experience he will give us of our oneness , Humanity wil be motivated to share. Maitreya is not going to force anyone to share, but he is going to talk about the necessity of sharing as the only way to produce a rational economic system which will create justice. It is the influence of the present system which is bringing us to our knees. It is ending because the age which brought it into being has ended. It is a corrupt crystallized form which does good to a few and to the many a great deal of harm. Of course it also does harm to the few to whom it seems to be doing good. It is poisoning dividing and threatening the world, so it has to go. All of this will be spelled out by Maitreya.
Maitreya will also release his energy-the Christ Principle- in tremendous potency. As Maitreya himself has said, It will be as if I embrace the world. People will feel it even physically. If that energy flowing through us plus the words of Maitreya analyzing the economic situation and the harm which it is doing to the planetary life do not motivate us to share then nothing else will. If it does not motivate humanity then we will not learn to share and we will destroy the world. We have it within our hands.
Sheryl shares with her guests that she is a Reiki Master Teacher who during sessions can see the faces of her clients relax and release all fear and anguish and reconnect to the soul energy..the oneness of connection to Universal Source or Divine Life and that in those moments of connection one feels whole, at peace safe and trusting. That is the embrace of Love.
It is important to underpin the structures of Self-love selflessness and service to others and to share the best of our heart mind and body in a multi dimensional healing guided by the Universal Laws of Energy including The Law of Attraction. That which you give, so you shall also receive. Words from World Leaders support this truth.
If we listen to the words that inspire love and living fairly we hear Maitreya and the other Masters in their energy. Here are a few quotes that speak volumes of truth.
“Unless America finds a way to help more of the impoverished people of the world share in its economic prosperity and teach them how to help themselves, attacks like 11 September will always remain a threat.” Bill Clinton former U.S. President
“All humanity is one undivided and indivisible family and each one of us is responsible for the misdeeds of all the others.” Mahatma Gandi
Since the power in the world continues with the rich and the powerful is it up to the rest of us to wait until they change the world? Of course not! No, we will wait forever for that to happen. Few rich people and powerful people will give up their power or riches unless they have to. The mechanics of change is a world stock market crash will end the present distorted and unjust economic structure.
A quote from Nelson Mandela Former President of South Africa “Is the time now upon us when we should cease to treat tyranny instability and poverty anywhere on our globe as being peripheral to our interests and our future?” emphasizes the need to begin to rebuild our systems to include and improve life for all in a more balanced and healing way to live well in thought word and action.
Sheryl says…Just take a look as our southern borders and the large influx of immigrants migrating across thousands of miles to find a better life because of the gangs drugs and corruption in their lands. We have poured money into these places but have not been able to build lasting places to improve the poverty and lack of resources. We need schools, hospital, valuable work situations, and honest leadership and governing bodies. No country can absorb all these fleeing groups of people, but the civilized and more prosperous countries can provide teams to help build these poor nations into sustainable countries, so the people won’t have to flee their culture and country.
Improvement can only come through the efforts of all the people rich and poor who work together to become educated enlightened and caring and to build a New World of Justice Peace and Prosperity not for the few but for all.
Sheryl thanks Felicity Eliot and Julian Crème for joining her on “Healing From Within” to discuss the concept of Maitreya and spiritual teachers as they relate to the modern challenges facing our world and the ways we may begin to move cooperatively forward to share the resources of nature to benefit people across the globe.
In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have explored a new, or perhaps old spiritual perspective that says that sharing the world’s food and resources more equally is the way to justice and peace and to the evolution of the human soul, which will allow for human nature to evolve to a new level of compassion and love.
When more than 80 percent of the world’s food and resources are used and wasted by only 20 percent of the world’s population, mainly in the developed world, we know something is just not right. This inequality forms the basis of terrorism environmental degradation crime and social unrest. The greed of a few has placed the entire planet at risk.
Humanity is one family and the earth’s food, raw materials, energy and technological resources belong to everyone equally, not just to those individuals who can afford to buy these resources and those nations who control the global economy.
The time is now for the survival of present and future generations that we work towards establishing teams to go to support the disadvantaged masses of people so they may have enough of the basic necessities of life : food shelter health care and education. We can only help those struggling to survive by giving them the tools to do so, and to create sustainable life styles that support health, prosperity, and justice for all. While that has been the hope of the American Way it now needs to become the hope of the World’s way and we can do it with the grace and goodness of our heart’s intentions.
Felicity Julian and I would ask you to reprogram your fears of losing anything, by sharing everything, and supporting mental health care, homelessness programs, and helping in whatever way you can to become aware of how much you need to live well, and relinquishing your excessive hold on material goods so you can become more conservative of the world’s resources and become the solution for the change which we all know is coming.

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” your host Sheryl Glick author of The Living Spirit which shares stories of spiritual awakening, spiritual communication, healing energies, miracles and a way to know and use your intuitive abilities for a healthier and more purposeful life journey welcomes Kristen Grayce McGary author of Holistic Keto for Gut Healing. Kristen is a Holistic Healthcare Practitioner who will shed light on the importance of Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis to discover what’s really going on in your body.
As a Reiki Master Teacher and medium Sheryl is delighted to speak with Kristen Grayce who has a most extensive history of merging Eastern medical philosophy with Western allopathic medicine and Sheryl has long been aware that almost all illness or dysfunction begins at the gut level and healing must begin at this level for a multi dimensional approach to true healing.
As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware Sheryl and her guests share intimate experiences and insights into the metaphysical world of energetic and physical life to find a connection or balance to the needs of both for awakening higher conscious and moving towards “true healing” of the mind body and spirit: not merely attending to physical ailments or disturbances. The cause of all illness lies within and must be discovered and then released.
In today’s episode Kristen Grayce will tell us about Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis and what she calls The Ketogenic Cure, a diet program that can heal your gut and heal your life. We will learn more about autoimmune disorders and how to treat them, especially since she has recovered from Hashimoto’s disease and Fibromyalgia . We will discuss Glutahione and how it can hold back the years and promote positive aging.
When Kristen Grayce is asked to think back to her childhood and remember a person place event or dream that may have shown them or others the lifestyle or work and interests they would pursue as an adult, she immediately remembers when she was two years old and picked up a stethoscope and put it on the arm of her grandmother. It seems she wanted to help people feel good and that has been a theme of life for her ever since.
Kristen Grayce tells us about her plan to personalize people’s health plans and understand what foods, exercise program and treatments, would best serve them. She tells us how valuable Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis is and how important it is to revealing the health issues and offer a preventive process that would individualize a person’s health plan. Kristen wants Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis (FBCA) to be more widely available through healthcare providers who understand how to use holistically individualized treatment plans. FBCA takes the guesswork out of health decisions. And helps guide people with nutrition supplementation and lifestyle recommendations that better meet their unique biochemical health needs. It also directs her to use other testing tools and recommend them to more specialized medical services when needed and allows her to catch people who have fallen through the cracks of the Western medical model.
Blood chemistry is a screening tool identifying imbalances in the body metabolism. Few MD’s and NMD’s are versed in Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis, nor do they know how to order appropriate comprehensive panels. Conventional blood chemistry analysis complies its normal reference range from millions of patients, most of whom are moderately to severely ill. Which begs the question-How can a patient whose blood falls within the normal range among a group of sick people, really learn anything about wellness? Perhaps we should think of this old approach as Dysfunctional Blood Chemistry Analysis?
By contrast Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis focuses on healthy people to create normal ranges. Functionally normal ranges are much narrower that their conventional counterparts. When a patients level fall within functionally normal ranges we can be much more confident about the health of that blood component. When a patient’s level falls outside functional ranges, but within conventional ranges, we can note a red flag for imbalance, and possibly developing disease patterns that traditional medicine would likely ignore. By catching imbalances before they manifest as symptoms and severe tissue damage, a patient’s prognosis is much better.
Kristen Grayce tells us more about this type of testing and you can go to her website to find out how to take advantage of her different programs.

We know that what we think often manifests as thoughts have real consequences and what we ingest creates either a state of health or not. Let’s talk about food as medicine.
We go on to talk about Ketogenic diets which are higher in healthy fats than paleo/primal nutritional plans and much lower in carbohydrates. Please note that Kristen Grayce works with Ketogenic gut-repair nutritional plans that exclude certain fats such as dairy, eggs, and nuts. General keto diets allow those foods. Please see the Paleo and Primal recipe section for other recipes that include nuts and eggs.
60-75% of calories from fat (or even more)
15-30% of calories from protein
5-10% of calories from carbs
The general macronutrient ratio guidelines are: The exact amount of your daily fat and protein intake depends on your individual body responses and activity levels. However, most people on ketogenic diets don’t consume over 5% of calories from carbohydrates. You likely won’t need to count calories unless you’re goal is weight loss and you’ve hit a plateau.
Paleo and Primal diets are based on the premise that our ancestors didn’t eat processed foods and grains so we aren’t genetically designed to do so either.
Eating Paleo or Primal has many benefits but may not work for everyone.
Our Paleolithic ancestors got a few things right when they consumed:
Three times more produce than the typical
Much less saturated fat and sodium We go on to discuss the differences between Veganism and Vegetarianism.
Veganism means no animal products are consumed, not even honey.
Vegetarianism has more variations, some eat eggs but no meat, others eat fish but no other animal or fowl, and others eat dairy but no other flesh food.
Kristen Grayce is passionate about educating people about FBCA because of her own autoimmune situation when she was in her twenties. She was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease and Fibromyaglia. “ I want this blood testing to be more widely available through healthcare providers who understand how to use it in a holistic way to individualize treatment. I also want you as a consumer to be well educated so you can make informed choices. FBCA has enabled me to more effectively guide people with nutrition, supplementation, lifestyle and treatment plans to better meet their biochemical health needs. I personally went for years undiagnosed and misdiagnosed until I learned about a full thyroid panel. It really saved my life. And if I can help you prevent the suffering I experienced, then my purpose is fulfilled. Your doctor truly does want to help you, but they don’t have all the tools necessary because they are limited by a standard of care, in which they must treat each patient the same. I believe you are a unique individual and deserve to understand what is really going on inside your body.”
Kristen Grayce tells us more about the value of Acupuncture and Asian Medicine. This safe and ancient medical system has been used to treat both chronic and acute conditions for over 6000 years. It seeks not only to treat dis-ease in the body and mind but to improve overall health and vitality. The tiny, hair-like, solid, sterile needles are inserted into acupuncture points. The intent is to contact Qi, vital life force energy. It is this Qi, or energy, that causes our bodies to move. Qi is what enables our vital organs to function like the beating of our hearts, blood pumping through our veins, nerve signals being sent from our brain to our limbs and vice versa, our respiration, digestion of our food and elimination of toxins via our kidneys, intestines, liver and skin
We discuss CranioSacral Therapy which Sheryl as a Reiki Master Teacher has also studied and Sheryl finds all energy body work very valuable in learning to understand energy, our emotions, and to begin to self-investigate so we may truly find a greater understanding of our own needs, the best way to interact with others, and the world. The restrictions are commonly the most important and least-often addressed components of somatic dysfunction. We am able to locate these restrictions and offer the brain an opportunity to release, reorganize and rebalance itself. CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a form of Osteopathy that was developed by Dr. John Upledger. It is an incredibly gentle, non-invasive modality that supports the body’s innate ability to heal. This hands-on technique uses about 5 grams of pressure, the weight of a nickel, to evaluate and treat various forms of restriction in the body, including osseous, fascial, connective tissue, visceral, and ligaments to name a few.
Neural therapy is a natural healing modality that works with your autonomic nervous system to resolve blocks, dysfunction, and imbalances so you can fully heal. Neural therapy historically addresses scars, glands, trigger points, acupuncture points, vascular structures, ligaments and autonomic ganglia. It is excellent for treating chronic pain and illness by restoring normal function to the autonomic nervous system and resolving blocks (aka interference fields, foci, and blocked meridians) that were caused by trauma or surgery scars, or sports injuries.
Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT) is excellent for pain! Previously known as Neural Prolotherapy (NPT), it now has a more accurate name. Dextrose (sugar) is injected near cutaneous nerves which alleviates neurogenic pain and inflammation. It is incredibly safe and effective in nearly all pain challenges. It was developed by Dr. John Lyftogt, with whom I’ve studied. Neurogenic pain is caused by damage to the C-fibers of subcutaneous nerves, which are unmyelinated . Sugar changes the signal of the receptors of the nerves. Nerves that are restricted via a chronic constriction injury (CCI) can be relieved with this therapy. You can expect 4 hours to 4 days of complete relief and then improvement of the pain after each subsequent session. Some patients only need 1 session, others may need a series of 8-16. I incorporate many other modalities which also address the root causes of why the pain is there in the first place.
We go on to discuss the Lifeline Technique. The Life Line technique is a unique and holistic philosophy, science and quantum technology to discovering, interpreting and releasing the root cause of physical symptoms, metal and emotional stress and trauma. This incredible system is the synergy of more than 16 different modalities in one, including Five Element theory of Asian Medicine, Meridian theory of Acupuncture, Ayuvedic, Homeopathy, Psycho-Neuro biology, Total Body Modification, Kinesiology, EMDR, Chakra, sound, color therapy, aromatherapy, aspects of Shamanism to name a few.
Sheryl thanks Kristen Grayce McGary for discussing alternative ways of testing establishing guidelines for individual wellness plans and working to help people via diet reduction of stress proper evaluation of potential health challenges and offering so much information on utilizing energy medicine supplements and natural approaches to heal immune disorders and create a more healthy way to live well.
In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have talked about a path that often leads to a new understanding of life in its multidimensional aspects, impacting health awareness and learning how to create the best version of ourselves, beyond emotional physical or spiritual challenges. We may be able through this exploration of alternative modalities avoid an excessive use of medication, and or, surgery which we know comes with many side effects. Of course, awareness of energy and who we are as spiritual beings having a physical life, is always the first step to awakening to a clearer view of “Who we are?” and to finding the magnificent intuitive guidance system that lies within each of us, that offers us keys for knowing how to make better choices for improving our health and life in general. We have discussed Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis, diet plans, and many alternative healing modalities such as Reiki, CranioSacral, Life-Line Technique, Acupuncture, to name a few, all which seek to help the body release blockages that contribute to symptoms of dis-ease and health issues.
Kristen and I would hope after discussing so many modern ways to approach dealing with any health situation you would begin to merge the wisdom of past cultures and lifestyles with allopathic medicine and good health directives to live your most dynamic and well balanced life style, incorporating simple, but often effective and powerful energy approaches for positive lasting changes.

Welcome to “Healing From Within.” I am your host Sheryl Glick author of The Living Spirit a story of spiritual awakening, spiritual communication, healing alternative energies, miracles and ways to know or perceive yourself, the world and life in expansive ways. Today I am delighted to welcome Hillary Raimo award winning photographer artist writer and radio show host and author of The Hillary Raimo Show Transcripts
As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware Sheryl and her guests share intimate experiences and insights in the hopes of broadening our awareness and understanding of multi-dimensional aspects of our energetic and physical life in the hopes of improving the quality of human development, personally and collectively. We discuss topics that awaken our subconscious memories of Universal Life or the eternal soul living force and possibilities for reaching higher realms of consciousness.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Hillary Raimo who is a combination of healer journalist and spiritual leader with the perfect combination of left brain intellect and right brain intuition shares interviews with many leaders, visionaries and change makers who help us see the world and ourselves as much more than a physical being.
Sheryl asks Hillary how the experience for so many years of talking with many of the important news makers risk takers earth shakers and ground breakers on the planet changed her own nature or perceptions of reality or did she perhaps much like them just enjoy the openness of their observations and the energy of their soul brilliance?
Hillary responds that it was a great privilege and joy to bring to the public information and events that had been concealed by government and media as much goes on behind the surface that takes time to reach out into the world but eventually in time much is revealed and Hillary and her guests talked about subjects that may not have been mainstream at that time.
Sheryl interjects her feelings and appreciation for hosting a radio show for eight years by saying that the many topics she has explored as host of “Healing From Within” have Ma healing and to this end I have interviewed some of the most incredible metaphysical experts, religious leaders and open-minded medical professional at work today. The knowledge these guests have provided me with has greatly expanded my awareness and improved my own practice.”
Many of us know that change must happen and can be desirable and necessary yet so many people fear and fail to change even when provided with opportunities from the Universe to do just that. Fear like every other emotion serves a purpose and if confronted can allow us to overcome past restrictions and limitations and to grow personally.
Sheryl says….Fear of not being in control or able to handle the consequences and challenges of finding new solutions or ways to do things keeps most people stuck in obscurity, not allowing them to explore their spiritual gifts and find greater happiness peace prosperity and success. In her book The Living Spirit Sheryl addressed this and wrote, “Many choose to believe its life circumstances that are at the root of the destruction of so many fine plans, intentions and opportunities. I believe it is the perception of limitation and self-doubt not our circumstances which destroys dreams and thwarts wonderful ideas. What I call The Law of Attraction is a universal energetic truth of creating our own reality by bringing to us the people and circumstances that our mind and actions generate. What we focus our thoughts time and energy on—whether knowingly or unknowingly, whether positively or negatively, whether lovingly or hatefully—sets up a ripple of interaction with other people places and events that ultimately brings these possibilities into reality. The thought begins on an energetic mental level and sometimes proceeds after days, months or years into a manifestation of a concrete reality. We can observe that in addition to our ability to heal and change certain patterns that separate us from our natural state of well being, difficult and tragic events are occasionally the precursors of taking a soul to the next level of their development.” Therefore change is necessary and often good
When asked to select one of the interviews documented in the book and to tell us about the importance and relevance to the changes we are experiencing worldwide at the present time Sheryl says she herself liked the story of Dr. Steven Greer who Hillary met on one of his expeditions to Mt Shasta in Northern California in 2010. At the time Hillary was exploring the world of UFO’s alien agendas and Ufology in general on her show. Some of the perspectives at the time focused on the fact we needed to protect our world from aliens who may be a threat. Dr. Greer was teaching a new story: that of off- world intelligences actually being friendly and seeking our cooperation. Dr Greer is an American physician UFOlogist and founder of the Orion Project and the Disclosure Project. In 1990 he founded the center for the study of extraterrestrial intelligence know as CSETI. Dr. Greer also teaches the use of meditation techniques that he claims allow attendees to remote view locations and times, both past and present and develop what he calls cosmic consciousness and supernatural abilities such as precognition.
Dr. Greer goes on to tell of an encounter he had when he was eighteen years old in North Carolina while hiking on a mountaintop path. He says he had a shared experience on this craft and sort of procreated this concept of how humans could contact them using consciousness and expanded awareness and remote viewing. Where you see distant places in space and see into the future not just the past and present. Hillary asked Dr Greer to speak about the quickening of disclosure events. We have reports of UFO’s in China Manhattan El Paso, Texas. The UN has recently assigned an extraterrestrial Commission. Dr. Greer goes on to say at around the time of 9/11 there were about 110 people working on top secret military and intelligence and corporate aerospace people and now there are over 550. Since that time massive releases of files from the French space agency , Japan and the ministries of defense of Great Britain Denmark Chile and Mexico showing footage of these crafts all over the world. Dr. Greer says that when he briefed Bill Clinton’s CIA director R. James Woolsey for nearly three hours he didn’t need convincing that UFO’s were real. One of the things that Dr Greer’s Orion Project has been working on is understand the physics of this new energy where you use very high voltage systems to pull energy out of what is called the zero point energy which will be the prototype of something that would run your house or car pulling energy out of space energy rather than burning oil or gas and coal…this will be the way of the future. President Eisenhower in the past discussed the way that secrecy within the CIA The DIA and other agencies or a small group of shadow groups were keeping information that could have changed our entire economic system and modernized society as well as provide information on extraterrestrials.
When you ask the question how are these beings getting here from different star systems you find that there must be trans-dimension energy and propulsion systems and if disclosed would completely remove our dependence on oil gas and nuclear power and create a sustainable society. The reason it hasn’t happened is because there’s a 600 trillion dollar interest group that deals with these commodities and the whole financial structure would become obsolete. There are almost 8 billion people on the planet and the balance of money rests in a very elite small group of a few hundred or fifty families and individuals that have half of the net worth of the world. But for this change to happen and for the world to sustain free energy for all and for the deserts to blossom, the elite must lose their power and that is the reason so much has been hidden from the public’s view.
Dr Greer talks about nuclear missiles being disarmed in military facilities in many countries around the globe and that would hopefully suggest that intelligent life or extraterrestrials have a vested interest in ensuring we don’t blow the planet up.
Sheryl says she has interviewed many military people and people who have had their own interactions with aliens and suggests you go to her website www.sherylglick.com over the past few years of interviews to listen to

Sheryl tells of her own encounter with a star traveler. Years ago in Arizona at a Conference of alternative practices and healing methods she was the last person to get to the room where a sound bowl healing session was being conducted Only one seat in a circle of 12 chairs was opened and so she sat down. Shortly, Sheryl turned to look at the woman sitting to her right. There was an unusual quietness to her energy and Sheryl took notice of it. The next day Sheryl saw her again at her booth where she was displaying CD’s with vibrational music to heal our planet. Sheryl discovered her name was Victoria. Victoria told Sheryl she was from a different star system and had been communicating with her guides or people since she was a child. She was not supposed to have children in this life but was married and raising his children. Then I asked her if there were more people like her that were living here and she answered “Yes.” What do they look like I asked and she responded, “They look like me.” She had very light blond hair but other than that and her quiet energy level she looked like all of us. That does not mean that there are not other life forms who are intelligent and either interested in working with us or that look like us.
We talked about an interview Hillary had with Phil Corso Jr whose father was a time traveler and great remote viewer. He said there are going to be some big things coming in the future and people are going to pull together to save the world. We already have many of the technologies and will get pass greed and be more in alignment with God.
Phil said his Dad said that God is the intellect so is God is the intellect and that is us…we are each the messiah or God then we might get into trouble with the many religions that offer other philosophies. The Bible is still being written and religion needs to be upgraded or young people being guided by technology will not be interested any longer. They’re going to find their way which might not be the right way so the religious leaders need to address it. The Pope says he would like to baptize and E.T. and we seem to know we may have to deal with foreign entities real soon. Perhaps ET is waiting for spirituality to catch up with science and technology so we can truly know the achievement of God or Universal Wisdom is within us already.
Hillary asks Phil Corso Jr. Are there two worlds converging? You have the UFO and alien activity and planetary hierarchy masters angels guides religious beliefs…Are they the same? That’s a great question and does it really matter as life is eternal and whether we are in or out of a body we are evolving souls merging with Universal Energy change and greater love and compassion
Phil describes it as, ”Well you see there’s a level of government that we learn about in school, the judiciary, the Congress and so on, the President You have this college level or entry level. The next one is the secret societies. They all think they run things that they have the power over this other lower run. They’re going to impose their will with the wealth and then you have a third level. You have the great military which President Eisenhower warned about. Above that you have the alien agenda, and above that you have God.
By the way my father was friends with President Reagan who was very aware of ET’s as was Khrushchev …It’s a Secret war not unlike the Cold War. We have been working on The SDI or planetary defense system and why don’t they want the public to know about it, because there’s not much they can do about it.
Hillary You interviewed Jim Marrs who spoke with you about investigator into stories like JFK to UFO sightings. Truth is part of the problem Jim insisted. We have all trusted the government to tell us the truth and they haven’t. Some of his books include the Rise of the Fourth Reich, The World By Secrecy Alien Agenda and Crossfire and his most recent release The Tillion Dollar Conspiracy: How the New World Order Man-Made Diseases and Zombie Banks Are Destroying America.
Marrs goes on to say “Well let’s start with the Middle East. What’s happening in the Middle East is that the New World Order guys, Wall Street City of London the financial masters of the world are aligning with middle men They’ve been popping up for decades now in the Middle East and its becoming problematic because they no longer want to be subservient to other leading powers.” He also suggests our elections are rigged and the financial powers and corporations have taken over the state. Sheryl says, We have just seen in the 2018 Midterm Elections much manipulation by groups trying to change the results that they didn’t like and the chaos and anger it generated in states like Florida Arizona California Georgia and so on. Must find ways to fix these disruptions to the law.
We are now seeing President Trump fighting all these factions: media Hollywood corporations and Congress all aligned to their own financial interests.
Marrs goes on to discuss how Obama gave military aid to Gaddafi and then decided he’s a big dictator and launched hundreds of tomahawk missiles bombing this nation that had done nothing to us. So it appears this is a move by the New World Order people, of which many of the elites of this nation and others, are part of. They are trying to do nothing more than a return to the Middle Ages where you’re going to have the super rich and then the Serfs with not much in between. That’s why you hear so much about the decline of the Middle Class and that’s why they’re eliminating their costly aid to support middlemen in these countries, and putting military leaders in, many of whom are trained and educated in the United States with much help from our CIA. That’s what seems to be happening in the Middle East. All this is tied to the approval of the International Bankers and when they are threatened, character assassination and propaganda take over.
Many governments including The United States are hard pressed to find seize and suppress any sort of alternative energy sources or technology that might interfere with the monopolies enjoyed by the ruling elites of the world. The Iraq War may have been an attempt to find ancient forms of energy that have been hidden from the world since Biblical times.
Marrs goes on to tell Hillary that certain sections of his book The Trillion Dollar Conspiracy were actually censored. He had a whole section on the corporate media and how it sensors the news and how that of the five major corporations that own virtually everything you see and hear have interlocking dictatorships. So in other words there’s a handful of people who control the five corporations and all the information being dispensed to the public. Even when it’s not entirely censored they can still leave stuff out:censorship by omission. That is what President Trump is trying to fight against when he keeps calling MSM Fake News.
Some people believe that in our pre-history of the planet there was a world-wide highly technological civilization and that one of the centerpieces of their energy system were gigantic pyramids…Saddam Hussein French and German archeologist were making amazing discoveries in the ancient Samarian cities and perhaps the technology of that time. We might be looking at the reality of ancient technology that actually shows us how to build Stargates and manipulates energy at the sub-atomic level. So are we at war with countries who may have lost technologies hidden in their museum collections. It does seem odd that the Middle East has sustained so much fighting and invasions by other governments during the present time.
Sheryl asks Hillary after speaking with all these advanced creative authors and visionaries what do you think individual citizens can do to improve the quality of everyday life when the shadow government is controlling the media, products water that we ingest and indeed the wars that we fight to maintain this New World Order they want.
She suggests that the way to begin to deal with this corruption is at the local level. You can take over your city council and local school board and county commissioners. You can write letters to the media. The media believe it or not still responds to the public as they have to build up numbers to show to their advertisers. Continue to ask for the truth..demand the truth.
Hillary would like readers of The Hillary Raimo Show Transcripts to take away with them after reading all the interviews in your book that it is indeed really difficult watching the bashing that’s taking place now..It’s like a never ending waterfall of bashing energy..name calling and its nasty and mean. It’s the same energy that many are calling Trump out on. Many are not aware that they are participating in the same energy. If you know what energy is and put yourself out there as a healer you have a responsibility to not do that. Angry hate energy whether attached to Trump or others is still hate energy and you are spreading it by hating either way. Anger is an elemental catalyst for change. Trump is just a catalyst for change. The emotional responses that are being triggered provide a healing moment for you. All the ranting can show with more clarity the things that have to be dealt with unresolved: victimization, unresolved traumas, and wounds, so we can find a gateway into our micro-dimensions What are you angry folks really resisting? Is it your own growth or a chance to look at your own healing process.
Let’s face it. He’s our president whether we like him or not. There comes a time when you have to move on..the election is over. We should have been concerned when Obama and The Bushes and the Clintons were in office. Many problems with economics, war, water, disease, famine were festering. Now all of a sudden, Trump is here and he brings out so much for people. Get real ..the emergence of your own Shadow Side and that of our government and world leaders needs to be addressed fairly. None of us have clean hands. This concept that in a four year period of time all consequences of actions are wrapped up and there’s a clean slate when the next person jumps in is ludicrous. We all have our prejudices our biases our knee-jerk reactions. Realize your own fears and work together with others to do what is right for the majority of our people. Just relate to your shadow side and that begins a process of growth and compassion. In the end that is the purpose of a human life: to remember our inner soul essence and simply fight our personal demons to be fair loving and honorable to ourselves and others.
Hillary’s many shows over the years and the many gifted and extraordinary guests she has been privileged to speak with have given her the tools and a powerful sense of peace and inner knowingness to relate to most issues with a quiet mind and heart, and that comes from “within” through a realization or remembrance of our true soul essence.
In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have traveled into the past to understand cultures that laid the foundation for modern civilization: technology and energy sources that are available to us now. We strive to understand the structure of government corporations media and educational systems that are not often used for the common good and at these particular time in history actually seem to be taking us back in time to create conditions that led to fascism also know as corporatism A New World Order which can allow the Shadow side of each of us, nature history and society to corrupt our spiritual source of Universal life force energy slowing down evolution and the movement of our citizens to improve life for themselves and their communities is at play in the dynamics of the cultural social economic and political situations we are engaged with.
Whether we study ancient history extraterrestrial life, wars in the Middle East, government controls and lack of transparency, time travel, 9/11 and an understanding of human consciousness and lives beyond this earth plane, we come to realize that until we stop repeating the same judgments biases prejudice and human errors made before, we are delaying our entry into the divine space of our eternal true life force for creating worlds of pure love and compassion.
The many authors that Hillary Raimo and I have interviewed over the years have delved deep into the mysteries of their own soul and physical life and studied the world through the lens of science spirituality religion philosophy antiquity medicine and the arts in the hopes of illuminating beyond our Shadow Side the potential for life to expand and to create worlds of beauty light goodness and the best within ourselves.
Hillary and I would have you remember that the world we leave to our children and grandchildren should possess some of the purity that we experienced before technology big business and corporate greed made social media and the opinion of the group more important than our individual talents and inner wisdom. Remember that as spiritual beings having a physical life we must leave the world a better place, and I have no doubt that we will do just that.

Welcome to ‘Healing From Within” I am your host Sheryl Glick author of The Living Spirit which shares stories of spiritual awakenings spiritual communication healing energies intuition and ways to understand your energetic and human aspects. Today we welcome Dr. Julia Mossbridge co-author with Theresa Cheung of The Premonition Code which addresses an unprecedented shift in scientific understanding of reality and the underlying potential for psychic and precognitive abilities that are within all of us.
Listeners of “Healing From Within” have come to expect over the years that Sheryl and her guests share intimate experiences and insights into the world of mind body and spirit as they seek to understand the creative forces of life which influence our subconscious and conscious view of reality and the world. Beyond time and space, there is the eternal life force of soul and spirit. When we transcend the limitation to that thinking we know ourselves as energy beings having a physical life.
In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Dr Mossbridge will share with us what precognition is and the different types, how to tell when premonition is a genuine precognition or just a coincidence, an overview of the science of time, scientifically validated evidence for precognition, including what is known, and what is still a mystery, and tools to help cultivate our own precognitive experiences.
We begin by discussing that having a hunch that an old acquaintance will make contact, dreaming about a plane crash or feeling excited by a knowingness that you will win a raffle are all examples of premonitions, assuming the event you predicted does occur. Precognition is the scientific name for premonitions—precognition is the knowledge or perception of the future. Premonitions are common—precognitive dreams are by far the most reported psychic experience by Westerners with between 15-30 percent of people having experienced them. Premonitions may also occur in waking visions, auditory hallucinations, flashing thoughts entering the mind, a sense of knowing and physiological changes that portend future events.
Originally premonitions were considered to be forewarnings of negative events. Now however people use the word to mean receiving any information about a future event positive or negative. Precognition is also a scientific name for a group of abilities that have to do with knowing or using information about the future without drawing on information from the five senses memory or logic. Premonitions are one of those abilities—a premonition is a feeling or sense about a future event. Clairvoyance seeing things in the present beyond the range of ordinary perception and psycho kinesis, changing or moving things in the physical world using only your mind, or telepathy, two minds sharing information are other psychic skills.
Sheryl says, “ As a medium or clairvoyant I receive information for people so they can know themselves and understand the nature of both human and energetic life, but for our listeners to know, sometimes information comes in and doesn’t make much sense at that moment, so we simply dismiss it. Years ago, I was flying in from Toronto to New York City and it was a bright clear day. I could see the whole skyline. Suddenly a thought went through my head, “If a plane goes into the city, it will cause a lot of damage. I was distressed by that thought and a week later, the planes hit Twin Towers. Other psychics and mediums picked up similar premonitions but weren’t able to completely understand it. Some events it seems, as unfortunate as they are, must happen. Sometimes a premonition can be extremely helpful and at other times there is little that can change events which we deem to be dreadful.
Precognitive events have shaped the lives of our authors and most of the case studies described in the book. In the book Julia tells the story of Theresa who co-authored this book with her. Theresa tells of a premonition in a dream that saved her life and the life of her unborn children and also was, she believes, the catalyst for her career as a spiritual writer and popular dream expert. Theresa writes, “In the dream which appeared like a movie I was wandering in a field of flowers and feeling very content. I even felt the sun shining on my skin. I came to a point in the field where there were two directions. The road to the left was filled with beautiful things and I saw my beloved cat Krystal who had passed away 15 years or so ago. I wanted to head down that path, but then I hear my mother calling my name and telling me—just take the right path. What troubled me was the right path was filled with shadows. I couldn’t see the way ahead. I didn’t want to take that path but I knew my mother wanted me to. She told me the right path was the path of my intuition. When I woke up I missed my mother as I always did, for she had passed away several years before. That day I was headed to my first radio interview and running late. I was stuck behind two massive trucks going very slow. We reached a junction and I had a clear choice: I could turn left and follow the slow trucks or go right. Suddenly I remembered my dream and heard my mother telling me to take the right path. I was five minutes late getting to the interview and I had to wait another ten years before being invited on to talk about my paranormal research. Driving home my irritation turned to horror when I saw an accident three or more cars smashed into the truck I had been following. All three drivers in the cars behind the truck that stopped for a stray dog in the road had been killed. I had grown up in a family of psychics and spiritualists and was frustrated by my inability to glimpse the unseen or what was called, “the sight.” That night I had another dream that showed me that the three victims of the accident in spirit were fine and well, and I was filled with the desire to make those souls proud of the chance to spread the word that there most definitely is more to this life than meets the eye.”
Sheryl says that for her the gift of awareness or connecting to higher energy to receive messages for others so they can know that they are spiritual beings having a physical life as well as know that their energy of soul existence is eternal, has helped her conquer many of the fears of her earlier life. Knowing she is empathic and picks up physical symptoms feelings or fears from others, makes Sheryl know she must be able to ground herself and quickly balance any anxiety that temporarily affects her. Sheryl was able to do volunteer work for hospice for eight years where her sensitivities and spiritual gifts helped patients and family to be more comfortable about the transition they were about to make.
Sheryl shares with Julia that she usually has what seems to be coincidences or synchronicity with her talented guests, but as the author of Life Is No Coincidence The Life and Afterlife Connection Sheryl knows there really are no coincidences only connections to an Intelligent Universal Source that works through us, with us, and around us for evolution and change. Sheryl notices that Julia has endorsements from Dr. Eben Alexander, neurosurgeon and author of Proof of Heaven and Living in A Mindful Universe and also Steven Taylor author of Spiritual Science who have been guests on the show and endorsements from Deepak Chopra and James Van Praagh who she has met over the years. Julia goes on to share what seemed to be a coincidence with her co-author Theresa Cheung who knew she would write this book The Premonition Code way before Julia knew.
In the foreword of The Premonition Code by Dean Radin he describes a simple shift in worldwide view that is compatible with existing paradigm as horizontal slices within a pyramid. Can you tell us something of that and why it may help us to make sense of exceptional forms of consciousness such as genius savants and psychic phenomena?
The bottom layer of the pyramid is in accordance with the doctrine of materialism, the physical world. Above that is chemistry and above that, biology, then the neurosciences with psychology at the top. Materialism asserts that somewhere in the upper tier of this pyramid, conscious awareness somehow emerges just like biology emerges out of chemistry and chemistry emerges out of physics. Core elements within each layer of the knowledge pyramid permeate all layers above it. For example electrons are key concepts in chemistry biology neuroscience and so on. Based on this pyramid model, it’s hard to imagine how something as ephemeral as consciousness which rests atop the knowledge pyramid conceptually far removed from physics—can perceive through space and time. With this in mind, let’s revise our knowledge pyramid by adding a new bottom layer. Let’s call it Awareness. The new layer can be imagined as a primordial proto-substance that is prior to or transcends physics including ideas about space time energy and matter. All of the physics we know today including quantum physics emerges from this fundamental awareness, so all of the explanatory power of materialism remains intact for all levels above it. And because the consciousness we are considering comes about before time and space, suddenly genius, savants and psychic phenomena are no longer weird anomalies. They begin to make sense, because all of these exceptional forms of consciousness share a commonality—they do not appear to be bound by the everyday limits of space and time.
Sheryl says , “As she was studying how psychics and energy healing was possible, beyond her methodical, scientific training and mindset, she kept hearing and sensing the words “time and space” and wasn’t sure what Spirit or Universal Consciousness wanted her to connect to. It seems beyond time and space and the physical world there is just energy and each of us is connected to this primordial source of expansive eternal life..no death, just transformation and new creation.
In the book there is a story of Gary a traveling salesman who has a premonition. Gary was a travelling salesman and dreamed of driving down a road he didn’t recognize where he passed a church before coming to a sharp corner. Before he had a chance to slow down in his dream. the headlights of an ongoing car appeared in front of him. The car was travelling fast and he woke up at the moment of impact. Gary was sweating and shaking just as if I had been there. He forgot about the dream until he found himself days later driving to collect a delivery on a road he didn’t know. Gary saw the church he had seen in his dream. He found himself slowing down and suddenly another car came hurling around the corner at a crazy speed, with a police car following it. In his original dream there hadn’t been a police car. Gary truly believes the dream saved his life…It was a miracle.
Sheryl says that she recently interviewed Kathleen O’Keefe Kavanos and Dr. Larry Burk authors of Dreams that Can Save Your Life relating true stories of many people who dreamed of health challenges that assisted them in requesting the proper treatments that ultimately saved their lives
Now not all premonitions or precognitive events are that stunning. One night years ago Sheryl had a dream of a man with a big smile and shiny bald head writing on a chalkboard. The man looked a bit like my father –in- law or my sister’s husband but wasn’t either of them. Sheryl had never seen him before. Days later Sheryl brought a copy of her first book Life Is No Coincidence to her agent in New York and then proceeded to a workshop with SQuire Rushnell author of God’s Winks. As soon as she took her seat, a man with a broad smile and baseball cap went down the aisle shaking everyone’s hand and announced that he was SQuire Rushnell, the guest speaker. Sheryl thought his manner and approach was very lovely. Soon he took his place on the podium, and started to write on a chalkboard. Next he took off his hat and turned to the audience. Sheryl was startled to see the exact face she had seen in her dream. At the end of the show, Sheryl went up and told him what happened and that like him was having constant messages or coincidences from Spirit. When Sheryl started this radio show “Healing From Within” a few years later, SQuire was one of the first people kind enough to join her for an interview. Sheryl calls these coincidences little blessings or miracles for those on the path of knowing that life is a great gift.
Precognitions can help you prepare for the future. Dr Stanley Krippner who is well known for his work on telepathic and cognitive dreams shared two precognitive dreams about his father’s death that he had when he was in his forties. In the first dream he saw a hearse pulling up to his childhood home. The driver took away his father, his next-door neighbor and the father of a grade school classmate. The first died his father and next door neighbor died a few months after the dream. The father of the grade school friend died within a year of the dream. He had recorded the dream in his dream journal because by this time he already knew the power of precognition as a preparation tool.
Sheryl says her Aunt Lily shared some of her mystical awareness thinking and a premonition she had personally two weeks before her father passed. Aunt Lily dreamed her father died, but didn’t mention it to her mother. Sheryl hopes Lily didn’t feel she was in any way the cause of that event for she was only a teenager. Sheryl as a medium knows we all have a time to come and to go, and it is in our eternal soul plan. There can of course be changes, but generally not so much.
Sheryl shares a precognitive dream she had when she was sick with the flu 26 years ago. In her dream Sheryl sensed her grandfather who had died many years before trying to tell her something. While she couldn’t quite hear him as she normally hears people talking to her she knew he was telling her in her thoughts to write something for her father. The next day Sheryl got a phone call from her mother who told her dad had passed. Sheryl wrote his eulogy, but the feelings and connection to her grandfather in energy led her to develop intuition, study Reiki energy healing, and develop her ability to download precognitive information from Spirit, the Universe or that place beyond physical life and time and space. Sheryl has tried to use that gift to help others develop their own soul awareness and spiritual gifts.
Julia felt that her life’s work at some point was to teach and learn about time. What really is time? Most of us think of it as some kind of flow of events, from the past through the present, and into the future. We remember the past, live in the present and the future is unknown. Precognition, however, makes no sense of that common definition suggesting that the future can be glimpsed in the now. Of course it can and by the many stories in this book we discover how it all works.
Sheryl says One day I had a client and in reading a saw a large grasshopper and she didn’t know what that meant so I said Well it may make sense later. A week later she was cleaning out a drawer and a giant grasshopper jumped out. Isn’t that great so we know the past has already happened and we don’t need to worry about it. I think perhaps the past present and future are happening at the same time in swirling energy that we are all connected to and time is not linear so at times our energy is in the past or future and that’s quite miraculous.
Julia wrote in The Premonition Code, “Even though philosophers and scientists have a difficult time defining time, one thing is for sure-if we could discover a way to make more time, we might be able to solve every mystery and cure every disease. We would have all the time in the world to heal broken hearts, learn about every subject, correct all mistakes and become infinitely wise in the process.”
Sheryl says that many people have discovered that reincarnation is a reality know that the soul is eternal and constantly evolving and changing so we seem to have all the time in the Universe.
Physicists don’t seem to agree on whether the flow of time exists at all. Some physicists suggest that the flow of time is a complete illusion and we live in a series of “nows” that are static, and not flowing in any sense of the word. While others feel time is so essential to the workings of the universe that it is liked a fundamental force. To make things more confusing for most physics equations, time can go in either direction: forward or backwards.
The psychologist and cognitive neuroscientists pursue a relationship to their thoughts on time. Most of them focus their investigations on the mental experience of time as opposed to the physical time. Understanding the science of precognition or how we might access information about events that occur in the future of our own personal temporal flow might sound like mental time travel rather than physical time travel, and might be entirely correct.
Dr. Julia Mossbridge might like readers to take away with them after reading The Premonition Code one idea out of all the ideas on causality causal loops quantum effects and different ways to resolve the paradoxes that seem to emerge from causal loops. You will find a lot of disagreement about how the flow of time works and how or whether one thing causes another, and may find that the everyday feeling that the future has no effect on the present is not necessarily true. As a result of the current uncertainty about time and causality, in philosophical and scientific circles, it is not at all unreasonable to talk in a serious way about the possibility of genuine precognition. We also hope that our brief mention of spirituality has opened your mind to the idea that there may be a spiritual perspective as well.
In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” it has been Sheryl’s great pleasure to share this discussion on the many years of exploring the mysteries of time and space and spiritual awareness of the complexities of human and energetic life in order to garnish a greater way to advance this great potential we all share: to be present, aware, and to utilize precognition, premonition, psychic gifts such as clairvoyance, telepathy, and psycho-kinesis to learn more about the creative force of Universal Life and to use this knowledge to further understand ourselves as spiritual beings having a physical life, able to bridge the gap between life and Universal Energy, ultimately discovering there is no death, only a transference or transition to New Life beyond this physical life.
I love the way both authors offered what life might be like as a Positive Precog who learns to be unique in their approach to using dreams premonitions and any kind of psychic awareness to make life more positive, purposeful, and joyful. They wrote, “All Positive Precogs should strive to embody five “REACH” principles.”
