  • FALLING PREY TO A PSYCHOPATH /MIND CONTROL: A RECIPE FOR DISASTER

Welcome to “Healing From Within” with host Sheryl Glick author of The Living Spirit: Answers for Healing and Infinite Love which shares stories of spiritual awakening spiritual communication healing energies, miracles, and a way to remember our deeper selves through intuition and higher consciousness and today we welcome Tarra Judson Stariell author of Sanity Lost and Found which shares a true story of brainwashing abuse and recovery through the power of love.

As listeners of “Healing From Within” know Sheryl and her guests share intimate stories of becoming aware of life not merely on a physical level, but an energetic level: knowing that in connection to energy and feelings, we can know in metaphysical reality much about the dual nature of life and begin to answer age old questions, “Who are we?” and “What is this life really all about?”

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we will journey with the main character of the book through childhood trauma, emotionally distant parents, life on a rural farm, drugs, sex, and the turmoil of the 70’s to a cult like life falling prey to a psychopath using mind control techniques who took away her freedom and will and made her a victim through fear and her own irrationality. Her search for spiritual truth lead her to explore many avenues before recognizing her own strength and power were within her all the time.

When Sandra is asked to think back to her childhood and remember a person place or event that may have shown her or others the path she might pursue as an adult Sandra writes, “At four years old she had been hospitalized twice with life threatening gastroenteritis and on the second occasion watched from the ceiling as medical staff rushed around her body lying on the gurney below. She survived and went home with a heart murmur. We lived on a farm and death was a common occurrence on the ranch. My questions without answers bothered me at night. What happens when we die? Where did we come from? If we come from God what is God? Where did God come from? Why can’t anyone give me answers.” At five I had surgery to correct a squinty eye. No one prepared me for what would happen at the Children’s Hospital in San Diego and the doctor asked if I wanted to wear one of the rubber masks and I said, “Yes” but as soon as they placed the rubber device reeking with a disgusting smell and held it tightly against my face I kicked and fought to rip it off . When I awoke my left eye was patched and the muscle stretched to correct the problem. It was common practice to trick children or mislead them about surgery. The result was from that time on I was frightened of doctors and cried whenever I encountered them or needed a medical procedure.” Lack of preparing Sandra for these medical procedures wounded her and took away a piece of her trusting soul nature. We really need to communicate and allow children to be ready to enter any challenge with some awareness of the process.

Described as a bright and beautiful child brought up in what many would think and idyllic ranch setting, the seeds for her being susceptible to being the victim of a psychopath and cult life style began in the experiences of her childhood. Can you tell us what went wrong early on and how we can caution parents to watch for these problems Sheryl asks?

Sandra tells us of being sexually molested by Chris a young teenager who she offered to help at school and was sent by her teacher outside alone with the young man. Sandra writes, “At about six years old, the man who brought his truck to school to do a shop class outside and had a helper Chris a teenager who you offered to help find his missing tool and your teacher Miss Kennedy told you to go outside with him. While I pointed to a shelf with the tool high above he grabbed me and forced me hard onto his lap and I froze. Reaching up my dress he shoved my panties aside and forced his finger inside me. I drifted away until a strange pleasant sensation brought me back…I broke free. I ran back and stood in front of the classroom door shaking with terror. I mustn’t tell anyone or they will get angry with me and Miss Kennedy will get in trouble: it will all be my fault. They wouldn’t believe me anyway: and would only get mad at me for making up stories.” How many children have these experiences suffer and are afraid to talk up and release their confusion and pain. Too many we now know and we must find ways to prevent these events from damaging our children and hold perpetrators accountable.

Sheryl goes on to say that so many children are unable to tell of these happenings and in many former shows authors have revealed how prevalent this problem is in our society. As many as two out of four children will be sexually molested. We must help children to develop the skills to resist if possible these aggressions, and tell someone they trust after the incident, or they will carry a heavy burden that can lead them into many addictions as they try to move past the shame and hurt of such painful events. Parents and teachers should not allow children to be left alone or encouraged to go in cars have sleep- overs even with relatives, as most often perpetrators are people known to the victims.

As a young adult Sandra joined the Peace Corps in the turbulent 70’s immersing yourself in the culture of South America as a result of meeting a young man Graham around that time and after Graham finished his Peace Corps assignment in Colombia he proposed to Sandra. In spite of being phobic about marriage she accepted. Sandra was working on teacher credentials but jobs were scarce. Disillusioned with the states Graham accepted a staff position with Peace Corp Colombia and Sandra dropped out of school glad to get away from her mother and the problems of her dysfunctional family life.

Sandra tells us that In the streets of Bogota on the crowded sidewalks there was much poverty and countless beggars and children begging who lived on the streets. They were called gamines and were abandoned by their parents to fend for themselves. In a way she was reminded of her own lonely childhood. The group went on to Medellin, the City of Eternal Spring which was similar in climate and vegetation to Hawaii, but much older with stately colonial architecture. I didn’t resemble the Colombians and so I was an outsider. Sandra began to change her appearance to fit in and learn Spanish and began teaching English, learning Spanish in the process. Assimilation in any culture is a necessary prerequisite for success and happiness. Graham was immersed in supervising the volunteers in his program. Cultural schisms seemed to widen the gulf between Graham and me diminishing our empathy and connection with one another We drifted apart as I tumbled into depression struggling to find purpose and a sense of belonging.

It became obvious here that her difficulty to assume a sense of belonging was rooted in the many disappointments and abuses by parents sexual abuse and a loss of trust in her childhood. No relationship could survive the upsets by her earlier challenging childhood experiences.

After divorcing Graham Sandra returned to the states where it didn’t take long for her to fall prey to a man who in short order imprisoned her in a life of restriction pain and suffering. Sandra like so many souls only wanted to be loved. She wrote, “ As a child all she wanted to hear from her mommy was a hug, a soft look, or some other indication that you were loved and lovable, despite all the mistakes you thought you made. So it seems perception of failure low self-esteem and confidence are the seeds that allow someone to fall prey to terrible relationships and friendships. You didn’t believe you were worthy of anything better.

After coming back from Colombia and having a sexual relationship with Juanita someone she met in the Peace Corps, and coming out to her parents, although her mother was accepting, her father behaved quite differently. Rejected by him again Sandra took an “est” seminar on sex, as many people at that time were looking for ways to improve their lives and the reception to gays and lesbians was quite chilly then. Even twenty plus years later when Ellen De Generes announced she was a lesbian, she faced dropped sponsor and network rejection. Struggling to comprehend the unusual circumstances of her life added to Sandra’s emotional stress and mounting financial issues were another issue. After a car crash, she was sure it was all happening because she was just evil She contacted Dr. Kubler Ross at her retreat center and the famous doctor told her she did not believe in such things as demon possession as they were not real in her experience. Frustrated Sandra moved to San Diego still thinking her “est” training program could lead to world transformation. Dr. Elizabeth Kubler Ross was a leader in the formation of the hospice movement and a believer that life survived physical death.

Sandra writes, “Then she met Solar who had had paranormal experiences and was directed to drive into the backcountry to spot UFO’s. Solar told her we are not the only conscious life in the universe and he himself came from a far-away place to fulfill his mission on Earth. He had a system called The Program which he would teach Sandra. Solar pursued Sandra relentlessly and her family were unimpressed with him but his validation of her interests offered nurturing to her blighted self-esteem. Sandra desperately needed a way to fulfill the mission of spreading the word that people had to change in order to save the earth. After having sex with Solar she thought she might not be a lesbian although for thousands of years in some parts of the world, bisexuality was recognized, but was not accepted in Sandra’s own awareness. Solar did not work and was at Sandra’s condo often. The shift from the condo to the house on Mohawk Street was swift and total. in a neighborhood in the Mesa just outside San Diego Sandra would learn that Solar had chosen a location similar to his history and family not far from his mother. In short order she was isolated from her former friends family and life and told by Solar that in pursuit of reaching a higher level of spiritual awareness she was not supposed to leave the house or talk to anyone. So began the years of abuse and hurtful living that engulfed her.

Sheryl says Solar sounds like he suffered from Narcissistic Personality Disorder or similar disorder where a lack of empathy makes them almost inhuman and which can be hazardous to the health of their victims and can even cause the abused person to lose touch with reality, contract an illness, or die.

The only way Sandra was eventually able to get help was when Solar ran out of money and Sandra and another woman and child Peggy and the Boy her son, returned to Sandra’s grandma’s house to live. Sandra’s grandmother and family became aware of the abusive lifestyle she was living, under the domination of Solar, a very sick disturbed man. Sandra’s parents called the police and had her committed so she could escape a life of depravation and abuse. She went back to Solar after being released from the mental facility and was beaten lost a tooth and for some unknown reason finally was ready to escape her lifestyle. Solar finally let her go back to her Gramma’s house. After her family got involved and “the Boy” Peggy’s son, was put into the foster care system and her family also got involved, Solar realized there were too many people aware of what he was doing and he let them go. He had fraudulently been taking another of the group’s money for disability which was a criminal offense. The authorities were aware of his mind control tactics and abuses. Sandy was lucky to have a family mother father brothers and grandmother who were able to help her and support her through undoing the years of neglect and abuse.

When asked about some places she had traveled to that fed her desire to break out of the sad restricted life of her family and their problems she says that she seized the opportunity to take a friend up on his offer to accompany him and others on a road trip into the interior of Mexico when she was attending community college. She writes, “The goal was Cozumel for its pristine waters good for snorkeling and diving. Our first stop was in Mazatlan, a small village at the time. We healed to Guadalajara and dropped to see Tula outside of Mexico City. The magnificent statues atop their stone structures planted seeds of wonder inside me kindling questions about this ancient and vanished culture. In Mexico City we visited the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. Where had the people who lived here come from and where had they gone? At the same time I watched as the astronauts of the Apollo landed on the moon.”

She goes on to write, “At around this time my parents were divorcing and my father moved out of the house. Soon I was introduced to marijuana and left my art classes to find relief from the negative emotions growing inside me. Furious with my parents for their behavior and for not trying to work things out I also hated the idea of leaving our beloved ranch and yet knew that was imminent. At about this time I accidentally crossed paths with a friend who invited me to a barbecue and met Graham a handsome stranger who was heading to Colombia South America to work in the Agricultural Program to avoid being drafted into the Viet Nam war. We discovered a shared love for horses country life and a desire to help the oppressed of the world. Graham wanted experience on a dairy farm and my father agreed to let him work there. While he worked on the ranch Graham and I fell in love. Graham left for Colombia for his two year Peace Corp assignment and my mother brother and I moved from the ranch into suburbia. I then lost two important men in my life. My father had stopped speaking with me and Graham left for South America.. So abandonment and loss of love were big issues that continually plagued Sandra.

Sandra tells us about many interesting happening during her assignment for the Peace Corps in Bogota after visiting the ruins in another nearby town with wondrous full size carved statues and where she spoke with roommates Gwyn Carlota and Leann of actually going through Ecuador to Machu Picchu in Peru where there were incredible ruins. What do the people of those places say about the ruins? The people in the villages believe the carvings were connected to aliens. The people in La Florida another town talk of UFO’s all the time. People lined up around someone’s house where they saw a guacha or spirit light. It’s a spirit that shows up somewhere It can appear in a glass of water or look like a dancing light in a room. They figure it is an angelic spirit bringing miracles and healing powers. They often ask for miracles from these visions of light.

Other supernatural or events that happened to Sandra included a day in Pasto which was Colombia’s last stop along the dirt road ascending the Andes into ancient Incan territory. Sandra and her friends passed a gravedigger and he had an urn with a man’s head on a frog’s body and Sandra just figured it must be an archaeological relic and purchased it. With just enough light to see by, she entered her room and placed the urn on its pedestal. Before going to bed she blew out her candle and turned toward her window and her heart stopped. Staring back at Sandra was a white glowing face. Sandra told her friend Gwyn who she also called Spook because she embraced the supernatural.

Another time on a trip to a remote undeveloped region we stopped to have a cigarette and a campesino dressed in white clothing approached us and walked up to me and said, “Soon you will find what you are looking for,” He took a few steps and stopped in front of Gwyn and I watched him turn and start walking the way he had come. After about ten steps he vanished. What? He had just disappeared. Gwyn said that maybe he was an angel. I looked up and down the road desperate to find him but I never did. In Sheryl’s book “Life Is No Coincidence” Sheryl has many stories of people who have met people in challenging times who come to help and then cannot be found when you go to look for them. When Sheryl’s Mother was in Intensive Care after a car accident caused her to have a heart attack, a young man who told Sheryl his name was Timothy came in and said he would help her mother. After leaving Intensive Care to another part of the hospital on a slow but steady downhill decline, she had a feeding tube down her nose and suddenly Timothy entered the room and Sheryl ran to him and said, “Timothy, My mother is not doing well like when you were taking care of her. Timothy walked to her bedside and said, “You don’t need that feeding tube you can eat on your own.” The next morning when Sheryl returned to her mother’s room the feeding tube was gone and she was eating some jello. Sheryl ran to the office to find Timothy to thank him for helping my mother again but no one named Timothy was on staff in that part of the hospital. Since that time Sheryl has met many Timothy’s, often at times when she needed help or new insights into a situation. It seems there are angels all around us and helpers from Spirit. We are truly never alone.

Another interesting story is the picture you were shown of Jesus with water stains running down from his eyes. Sandra’s Colombian friend told her she had seen the picture shedding real tears. Sandra lacked an explanation for her experience being taught that paranormal and psychic phenomena were psychological delusions trickery or just plain evil.

Sheryl says that for the first part of her life she was a skeptic even though as a child she had seen faces of light in her bedroom window and felt hands on her as she was in bed so she always slept under the covers to avoid that. But being taught that we only have one life she failed to grasp the spiritual or energetic components of metaphysics that we don’t die and life is eternal until she began to have many experiences proving that “Consciousness survives physical death” and we do actually continue to live beyond this three dimensional life process. As a medium and energy healer she knows beyond the shadow of a doubt that we are surrounded by loved ones higher vibrational beings souls angels guides and myriads of life forces.

Juanita a university professor and former volunteer from the Peace Corp helped Sandra with her visa which had elapsed. She told Sandra of a book Visited Ganymede written in Spanish by a Peruvian named Yosip Ibrahim about space beings who claimed he Earth was going to undergo major changes and enc in the year 2000 and they took him on a space ship to the planet Ganymede where they all live under the surface and are much more advanced than us. She told me he planned to return to the states to share this information Sandra laughed and said she hoped to stay in Colombia for a long time and when the final words escaped an eerie silence filled the room and she noticed an electric bluish white energy forming to her left…it seemed to be like two pillars of light take shape and I heard a voice speak in my head: You need to return home and share with your family and others that life as you know it on Planet Earth will end if humans do not change the way they are living…Humans are creating the devastation we speak of that threatens your planet.

The culture of the times while Sandra was at San Diego State University exposed her to sex and drugs. With the development of oral contraceptives the pill was all the rage liberating sexuality for women at a time when STD’s were not an issue. We rocked out to Janis Joplin Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison our own drug use unphased by the fact that these icons had all fatally overdosed. Mescaline and LSD became my favorite psychedelics and Sandra used marijuana frequently. The peace and freedom movement of the sixties and seventies spawned experimentation with music sex and drugs. Sandra worked a full time job by day attended university at night and escaped through sex and drugs on the weekend.

A question emerged for Sandra after working for the Bienestar nutritional educational and recreational programs for the impoverished malnourished children and their families . She witnessed the suffering of the shanty town residents and wanted to know why they faced a destiny of limited opportunities and inequality because of their race or social status.

Sandra tells the story of the grandmother taking care of her grandchildren because the parents had abandoned them. And Sandra writes, “My eyes adjusted to the haze as I stood upon the hard packed floor and inhaled the cool smell of damp earth—a welcome relief from the arid sun. The youngest child so gravely malnourished he needed hospitalization and there was not enough beds to accommodate the starving children in this neighborhood. She and the children were doing fine, she told me, and said, “God willing,” they would live to see another day. She was happy to be alive a peaceful soul struggling only with the strands of cloth she was mending, a rag more than a tattered shirt. They would “get by,” she said. And I knew they would, because she said so. She was a magnificent being who threw my perspective an awesome curve. Love and faith were the important qualities to survive any challenge.”

Sandra might like readers to take away with them after reading her story of love loss adventure and journeys into different lifestyles that it is important to be aware that in a relationship where someone separates you from family friend work and controls communication there is a problem. This is taken from the book “Thought Reform and the Psychology of Totalism—A Study of Brainwashing in China.” Specifically, Solar controlled all forms of communication allowed Sandra and the others to listen to anything or anyone but him, or to communicate with each other. We were required to tell him every thought dream or action on a daily basis. We were under constant threat of beatings and worse to separate us from negative entities. Solar made us believe he was chosen by Source to help us return to spirituality. We all believed that Solar did what was best for us out of Love and for a Higher Purpose of helping save Humankind from imminent destructions. The betrayals included lying to families, authorities, and created separation from our former lives. We were constantly made to feel shame. It is very important to protect your own ideas values self worth and avoid involvement with anyone who tries to make you feel unworthy and unloved for any reason. Ask for help in getting out of relationships with any person like this from a cult or a psychopath sociopath or person with Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Tarra Judson Stariell has shown her very revealing story a clear profile of how childhood trauma emotionally distant parents drugs sex and lack of self-esteem can be a powerful prerequisite for falling into a cult lifestyle or an involvement with a psychopath sociopath or narcissistic personality disorder individual any of which will lead to the dissolution of mind body heart and soul.

In summarizing today’s episode of ‘Healing From Within” it is the hope of both Tarra and Sheryl that we shine light on a very dark life style that oppresses many women here and in other parts of the world. In the name of spirituality or religion, some groups might enslave and abuse women and children. Some people may not have families to bail them out of the bondage they find themselves in, but, for anyone who has allowed themselves to be victimized, for anyone who has doubted their value and from anyone wanting to protect their children from such vulnerabilities, we suggest that our schools and judicial systems, our religious organizations, and medical institutions talk out about these practices and liberate people who are held in life threatening living conditions. We must learn to talk up and teach our children to talk up at any sign of abuse and ask for help until someone, or some agency or family, surfaces to end the abuse.

Tarra and I would have you know that whatever trauma or suffering you have known, there is always hope and guidance if we begin to trust our own right and divine destiny of love and happiness which is our birthright. We can live through much, sometimes in order to find our greatest truth, that life is really worth living and change is always there in the right time.

  • NEGATIVE EMOTIONS ALL EMOTIONS HAVE MUCH TO TEACH US

Welcome to “Healing From Within” with your host Sheryl Glick author of The Living Spirit: Answers for Healing and Infinite love and Sheryl’s newly released book, completing the trilogy, A New Life Awaits: Spirit Guided Insights to Share Global Awakening which shares stories of spiritual awakening spiritual communication healing energies miracles and ways to understand life in both it’s physical and emotional context. We learn our challenges are not merely economic political or societal but a deep disconnect from our true being and soul wisdom. Sheryl is delighted to welcome Randy Taran founder and CEO of Project Happiness and author of her newest book Emotional Advantage which provides insights into the lessons negative emotions have to offer so you may take control of your emotional life for transformation and progress.

As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware, Sheryl and her guests share intimate stories and insights into our dual nature of physical and energetic life and explore areas of self-awareness, self-realization and self -investigation as we learn to master our emotions and move from fear trauma or misconceptions opinions or beliefs that hold us back from realigning to higher vibrations or emotions of happiness and joy. It is in understanding the true nature of who we are and where we come from that we begin to make better decisions and choices for creating lives of personal growth prosperity and happiness.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within Randy Taran will share ideas and techniques that may guide you to the emotional advantage of being aware, skillful and resilient no matter what situation you face. As a producer of an award -winning documentary on the nature of happiness working with George Lucas Richard Gere and neuroscientist, Richard Davidson and also working as a board member of the Dalai Lama Foundation Randy shares thoughts on happiness habits, preventive wellness and emotional resilience.

Randy’s book is called Emotional Advantage: Embracing All Your Feelings to Create a Life You Love. Randy tells us what made her start to think differently about her emotions, and goes on to say that she had been focusing on happiness in the institute she had established and received many questions on how to deal with the flip side or reverse of happiness which are the negative emotions like sadness sorrow fear and anger. Randy and Sheryl discuss the question: what if instead of hijacking our mind and traumatizing us or putting us in a state of self-doubt or resistance, we could use the messages of these events and emotions to create new perceptions and opportunities to live a more fulfilled life journey? It turns out we can learn how fear moves us to courage, how guilt can clarify our values, and how anger can help us create healthy boundaries.

Randy shares the kind of research she has focused on as her findings are based on neuroscience and how can we use this knowledge to support and happiness.

First Randy says that she is not a researcher—her specialty is curating the best of what’s out there from the psychology neuroscience and mindfulness and translating it into actionable tips and challenges that we all can actually use in everyday life. The science tells us that” we can change our brains” and rewire the pathways to higher awareness and functioning and that’s good and well and this book tells you how.

Everyone at birth is given a spectrum of emotions. Randy find the emotion that was hardest to write about she would have to say was shame that was challenging—it’s something we don’t talk about much –its deep in the dungeon of our minds. Fear, sadness, anger were runner ups and the thing is they all can help guide us to our best lives if we know how to work with them.

Sheryl says that she has been fortunate to have been wired as part of her intuitive healing and mediumship skills to help people and to be consistent and wholesome in her responses to people…Sometimes when she gets angry when people act inappropriately she forgets she is only human and deep feelings make her uncomfortable in her spiritual body, but have not often acted that way towards others. Still Sheryl feels sadness at the pain others inflect on others. As a medium and empath she has felt the shame fear sorrow anger as well as the joy and love of her clients. One day in a reading Sheryl saw a doll like Raggedy Ann fall down and was so weak she couldn’t get up and the client told Sheryl that doll represented her for she was sexually abused by her father as a child and she couldn’t understand why he would hurt her that way. She felt shame for something her troubled father did and Sheryl immediately told her she was not a victim but a hero as she survived, and she should not think of it any longer, as he was the problem and needed help. The past is gone and only a memory but if we think about it in the present moment, we are reliving the horror or sadness. Sheryl is not sure why people who are hurt by others feel shame but sometimes they do and if affects them in many negative ways till they can realize the truth. Sheryl says she has probably never felt shame for she knows every experience we have is programed into our soul life journey and how we handle it to the best of our ability is the only reason some of these most difficult experiences happen. If we learn to allow accept and surrender to the challenge nothing can really hurt us and we can resolve most issues with greater love and compassion for ourselves and others. It takes awareness and practice.

In Randy’s opinion the most common way people deal with difficult feelings is in two ways—wither they let it ALL out, (explode, wail) or keep it all in (stuff the emotions, take things out on yourself instead of others)—denial is pretty popular too. But the thing is, when we suppress what we’re feeling those feelings become monsters. When we see them, and accept them ( hey ,nobody’s perfect—we’re not supposed to be) we get to work with their information and architect a life we love.

Sheryl says that the word “Perfection” is such a source of conflict for most people. Some children have assumed it is their job to make everyone happy and if they don’t succeed at that, which of course is impossible, they have failed themselves and have not been able to live up to the expectations of parents teachers colleagues and so on. In Sheryl’s book The Living Spirit in regard to this mistruth Sheryl wrote, “Recognizing another avenue for finding happiness is possible when we finally admit, “Not only are we not perfect, no one is perfect.” We must continue to learn what makes us tick, and what makes others react as they do, but should acknowledge that we can only change ourselves and our outdated thinking by realizing we are responsible for our own actions. The choice to accept others and ourselves with our frailties and sometimes negative behaviors can be hard, yet it is necessary in order to have times when we feel we are on cloud 9.”

Randy shares some of the authors or healers who have inspired her during the creation of Emotional Advantage. Oh so many: brene brown Kristin Neff, Dan Siegel, Rick Hanson Richie Davidson, Tal Ben Shahar even Rumi, Marcus Aurelius too, who writes, “The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”

Randy has incorporated experiences that have happened to her and your loved ones into her book. That inspired parts of the book certainly—It’s why she started this whole journey in the first place, but Randy could not have written it if she myself wasn’t looking for answers. What she learned is that making friends with your so- called negative emotions, the shadow side gives you more awareness hence more choices and leads to a sense of well- being peace and gratitude for being free of engaging any negative feeling for too long. Know it and then release it allowing for more positive events and feelings to surface.

Living in Silicon Valley, Randy has seen all the stress people go through at work and in study influenced her interest in mental and emotional wellbeing. It’s here for sure and everywhere. It’s in the air we breathe our addictions to our devices the pressure to be seen as perfect. Four out of ten people in the US self-report as lonely; it’s an epidemic. The WHO has declared depression the greatest cause of disability, even ahead of heart disease, and that’s globally. One in five people say they deal with anxiety even kids. This is a wake -up call for all of us.

Sheryl says In her new book A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening she recognizes that it is not the political economic societal or religious issues that are the real problem we are facing worldwide. It is a spiritual disconnect from our natural loving state of being to Universal Source and to the goodness and compassion that is being stifled by the outside world. Looking “within” to the true source of the eternal circle of life is the way past harmful negative emotions and events and the path to peace which is simply knowing who you are as eternal spiritual beings having a physical life for the purpose of refining your magnificent soul potential and energy no matter what life challenges you face.

In Randy’s opinion the genre of emotions is so special. We have an inner compass inside of ourselves and we’ve forgotten how to use it. And in a culture that values appearance over authenticity, we often ignore the clues our emotions are giving us to help us navigate. It’s easier when life is good but complex in times like these. We need to be able to work with how we are feeling, and that does not mean stuffing it away and pretending that it’s all good. We need emotional literacy to have emotional intelligence and most people have no clue what their emotions are trying to communicate.

Sheryl responds, “Reiki energy healing sessions help a person to connect to this internal guidance system and wisdom and perceive new thoughts that can enable them to start to make changes in their health plan and relationships. Feeling your essence experientially is the best way to know what is best for you.”

The one thing Randy thinks readers generally don’t know about emotional intelligence and will be surprised to learn is that we all like good emotions like happiness and desire, but what we don’t realize is that even the toughest emotions are sending messages to alert, protect and fuel us forward. The good news is that this can be accessed if you know how. Randy loves the quote by Jon-Kabat – Zinn, “ You can’t stop the waves but you can learn how to surf.”

One of the most astounding things Randy learned about feelings when writing is that we don’t have to live on alert that our emotions will “take over our lives. When we welcome or embrace all feeling and listen to them, they have the power to bring us back to our strongest selves, capable of not only self-love but to having wonderful relationships with others and above all aligned to our true nature of goodness kindness and compassion.

Randy has incorporated many of the tenets of Project Happiness into this Emotional Advantage. Yes, she has incorporated many of the tenets from Project Happiness. Mindful Monday, Gratituesday, Wellness Wednesday Thoughtful Thursday, Freedom Friday, Social Saturday, Soul Sunday these actually reshape –the neural pathways of our brain, but it goes further delving into the science of tougher emotions, and challenging the reader to USE the wisdom of ALL emotions—yes, even sadness anxiety anger and fear to inform our awareness and choices. The result: we are not a victim of circumstances regain the power to create a life we love.

Sheryl often says to people…. “No one takes your personal power away unless you allow it and if people act badly it is their problem not yours.”

Without giving too much away, what vital resources are you giving your readers. Every chapter has tips and strategies both reflection and challenge questions to meet where you are and inspire you towards creating your better life. Let me say one thing—this book is not about being happy all the time: A—that is not possible and B—it’s the fastest way to become Unhappy! Happiness is not the absence of obstacles: it’s an inner reservoir that helps us handle whatever comes our way.

Sheryl asks Randy: in a culture that tells us to push down our emotions and worries in order to work harder, how important to you is it that people are able to deal with difficult feelings without becoming overwhelmed? Randy tells us it is important when people get overwhelmed, they either fight go into flight or get paralyzed and freeze. Our emotions are telling us to recalibrate, when to course correct, and when to take a break. The idea of crushing it, killing it and dominating leaves no room for self-awareness and self- care—it’s antiquated—people may rally in the short run, but we’re seeing more anxiety burnout depression and suicide and a declining life expectancy rate than any society before us. With self-compassion, people are more resilient, more productive and simply have better lives.

Randy tells us that literary success to her means giving people proven tools to take charge of their emotions and their lives. Her dream is that this book reaches people everywhere especially people who need a little boost and it will not only shift their lives but the lives of those around them. The message is clear; pure grit is not enough. With self-compassion, people are more resilient, more productive and simply have better lives.

Sheryl thanks Randy Taran author of Emotional Advantage for providing a powerful way to discover how useful emotions can be in guiding us towards a healthy and productive life.

In summarizing today’s episode we have come to see all our emotions as necessary and useful for helping us be aware of who we are and what we truly need to live our best lives resonating with love and connecting to our inner intuitive wisdom for being at peace. We have discovered that we often have hidden our feelings and may have experienced guilt or regret and may find that those times were the pathway to becoming more aware and aligned to life. We have also discovered how we have the personal power to grow beyond the negative emotions and conquer fear and limitations to make choices that ultimately bring us to a higher state of knowing and loving this challenging physical life experience.

As Randy wrote, in this journey of demystifying our emotions we have learned that there is a reason for every emotion to exist. Each plays a role in guiding us back to our true nature. The world preaches separation, lack, competition and conflict. We are born in wholeness, innate peace, and full awareness. We can choose to believe we are not enough, or we can cut through the illusion to connect to the fullness of who we truly are. Each person has the capacity –no exceptions.”

Randy and Sheryl would encourage you to simply feel more deeply as in this time in a spiritual evolution there is much trauma and drama being created and we can grow more aware of the gift of life and Spirit if we embrace our feelings and find the opportunity for personal growth in all that we must experience to finally realize we are spiritual beings having a physical life and all is well.

  • EMERGING CREATIVITY FOR THE JOURNEY OF SELF-REALIZATION

Welcome to “Healing From Within” with host Sheryl Glick author of The Living Spirit Answers for Healing and Infinite Love which shares stories of spiritual awakening spiritual communication, healing energies miracles and discovering and using intuition to navigate the journey of a physical life. Today I welcome G. Brian Benson author of Habits For Success which shares ways to create a foundation of happiness balance and fulfillment through the discoveries of inner awareness.

As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware Sheryl and her guests share intimate experiences and insights into the metaphysical aspects of life which reveal much about our energetic or spiritual needs and our mind- based, ego reality, or the physical world. When we learn to respect and merge both sources of wisdom we can actually find out much more about ourselves, others, and the world and begin to process all our amazing spiritual gifts to live a more balanced joyful purposeful and healthier lifestyle.

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” G. Brian Benson an award winning author radio host filmmaker and speaker shares the value of trusting intuition and his own personal journey of self-growth learning to live an authentic and fulfilling life. Brian is a 4XIronman triathlete and cross country bicyclist who knows the value of hard work and never giving up on dreams.

When Brian is asked to think back to childhood and remember a person place or event that left an impression on him and may have shown him or others the path he would take in life or the values that they would perhaps hold dear Brian immediately says his mother always told him that he always just wanted to help people. Brian also shares that he worked in his father’s golf shop and golf range business and while so many men would have loved to be in that place, especially Sheryl tells Brian, her husband who lives and breathes golf and would have loved being in that place. But Brian knew he had to find other ways to awaken his interests and find how to communicate his enthusiasm for learning to move past restrictions and the comfort zone to expand into the fullness of living.

When asked what it means to be a man of heart and to allow your genuine nature to shine Brian says he feels like it means to live an authentic life and he has found happiness and fulfillment in writing speaking producing and acting. He is accomplishing things that he would never have thought or dreamed possible. It wasn’t until he left his job that he really began to see how alive he could feel simply by being himself and following his intuitive heart instincts.

It may be said that many people innately know how they should be living their lives, but often common sense is not always common practice. It seems fear is what holds most of us back.

Sheryl says that is obviously fear and the need to follow the expectations of others: our parents teachers loved ones and not wanting to disappoint others or be a failure in some sense that can hold us back. It is indeed also our societal training and programming that dampens the spirit of curiosity and imagination and demands facts figures and stability as the most commanding force for our decisions. In addition the fear of Change for many people holds them back from trying new ways to go forward and explore life. Actually change is inevitable and necessary for our search of true self and remembering who we are as Spiritual Beings having a physical life.

Brian wrote and this is absolutely how the awakening process begins for most of us….”There comes a time in all of our lives when it becomes more painful for us to stay mired in our old habits than to step outside our comfort zone and risk the unknown as we journey towards finding our true voice. Your true voice is the language of authentic fulfillment joy and happiness. While speaking your true voice, creativity flows fears subside and peace of mind prevails. I truly want everyone to find his or her true voice.”

Sheryl says, “It took Brian over forty years to find his spiritual voice and for her a little longer than that,” but we eventually overcome stifling conditions to hear the internal beat and to overcome that inner voice that says we are not enough. It is the ultimate internal battle of overcoming feelings of unworthiness. It’s ok to have fear and be scared. Fear can be a good thing and lead to resilience as you push past the restrictions that hold you back from doing the inner work that will free you from many past habits or misconceptions to allow you to find acceptance of self, others, life, and simply flow with life letting go of resistance from past thoughts and realities you were given as a child by those who thought they were protecting you from the dangers of life.

Brian tells us about his awakening process and how he felt and how he decided to act on those feelings.

Brian wrote, “In my heart I think I always knew that I wasn’t going to be working at the golf center for the rest of my life. I felt an intuitive tug pulling at me early on during my eleven year tenure of running the facility. It was the same tug that I bravely followed into triathlon racing during college, but this same tug wasn’t quite strong enough or more likely, I didn’t have the courage to listen to it. But now it pulsed stronger than ever and wouldn’t allow me to stay complacent in something that wasn’t my true calling. That didn’t make the initial conversation about wanting to leave the business with my father any easier…..When I finally did gather the courage, it went much better than I could ever have imagined. My father revealed if he had it to do all over again he would have become a gold club professional instead of an independent insurance agent because he loved to teach and help others with their golf game.

Brian discusses the importance of building a foundation and balance in life which are important keys in moving towards your most creative and authentic life. The word foundation means the basis or groundwork of anything. When we think of a foundation we typically think of a building and the foundation is the strength of supporting the entire structure and protecting the building from external damaging forces such as storm earthquakes and strong winds. Well the foundation of a person applies to us as well. Forces like judgment low self-esteem fear untruths inaction jealously resistance apathy and imbalance may undermine our success. We must seek ways to build self-confidence empathy self-esteem and greater love for ourselves.

Balance can be thought of as mental steadiness or emotional stability: habit of calm behavior, judgment, etc and a state of equilibrium or equal distribution of weight… It is important to have balance because we have more energy—Because we have eliminated many of the things that aren’t really that important.

Things flow smoother for us—Living in balance makes it possible to be fully alive and to live by making choices in the moment.

We make decisions because we want to not because we have to and we try to be proactive rather than reactive. We are able to be our true selves—We can focus on what it is we want to do not what it is we have to do. WE have a solid foundation and stay focused moving forward to our goals and dreams.

Sheryl says that in regard to balance and building your own solid foundation regardless of others in your life who may try to hold you back because of their unresolved fears you find inner strength to move forward.

In her book The Living Spirit Sheryl wrote, “ Highly conscious human beings now and in the future are the templates for the evolution of humanity and for the creation of a finer state of harmony and balance. It will be in the sharing of our dynamic beautiful inspiring thoughts and in rethinking and reprogramming any limiting thoughts that the shift will move many of us to a more productive level of purer thought and action. With great self-awareness and Cosmic awareness come a greater responsibility to share and exchange these ideas with those who will listen. Awareness of existing energies emotions and the motivations for our behaviors help us to balance our own energies.”

Our intuition becomes clearer/louder. The greatest thing about being in balance Sheryl feels is that we are able to live from our heart and listen to our intuition or soul guidance.

Brian offered a lovely quote in his book “If we disconnect from our heart we disconnect from our life source” (Author Sonia Choquette)

Brian shares a description of intuition and how it is the key element in advancing our understanding of spiritual and physical life so we may see the reality and move away from any illusion or misinformation that stifles our creativity. Intuition is a direct perception of truth fact independent of any reasoning process. It is a keen and quick insight.

Intuition can be communicated in many different ways:

    1. A Feeling of Restlessness when you feel it’s time to make a change to explore new challenges.
    2. You May Notice a Recurrence of Thoughts and Opportunities that keep presenting themselves to you like synchronicity messages that will not stop till you pay attention
    3. You Have a Sense of Peace and Confidence Even When Your Decision Doesn’t Seem Rational..When your intuition speaks you feel confident and clear as opposed to when your ego speaks and presents uncertainty and fear.
    4. Dreams and Visions Pay attention to your dreams. They can offer a roadmap for change.
    5. A Gut Feeling This feeling can hit you when you meet someone or have an important decision to make. It may come to you in the form of a peaceful or excited feeling or as a sinking uneasy feeling that is sign something is off. It is important to pay attention and honor both signals as they help you move towards a goal or avoid something that may not be right for you.
    6. You May Become Ill— When you ignore your intuition and its repeated attempt of communication you may create stress or bring illness into your life. Physical signs like anxiety and sickness can edge into your life because you are ignoring your intuitive signs that you need to change something.
    7. You May Feel Inspired and Have a Sense of Knowing You may feel excited and inspired and desire to make things change or happen that helps you energetically proceed forward.

There are many reasons people don’t use their gift of intuition. One of the main ones is that they haven’t been taught how to use it. Growing up most of us were not taught to feed our mind our ego and our thoughts instead of our heart. We only became comfortable in using and believing our five senses. It’s time to add a sixth sense—intuitions.

It may take time to become more aware of this inner guidance and the benefits for following it as fear of breaking free from old habits is still very strong but those old habits inhibit us from fully shining and reaching our full potential and its never too late to trust your inner guidance.

Overcoming lack of trust is an important step towards paying attention to inner guidance but there are ways to improve your intuition and improve trust in yourself.

There are Ways to Improve Intuition Meditation During meditation we are able to give our brains a rest from the busy life and schedule that most of us lead, which in turn helps us to feel more rested balanced and centered

Lead a healthy lifestyle. Eat better and eat less. Exercise Proper hydration Getting enough sleep. These are all great places to start.

Strive for life balance Practice maintaining an open-minded playful experimental nonjudgmental attitude. Daydream, doodle brainstorm and write down words and phrases that come to you when problem solving.

Look at eliminating negativity from your life. Yoga is wonderful to build strength and flexibility and to slow down and quiet our bodies. This slows down our mind as well.

Rhythmic Exercises Walking running swimming tai chi and yoga. Allowing your mind to rest helps intuition come through.

Brian shows us how do we begin to step out of our comfort zone and what exactly is a comfort zone?

A comfort zone is a situation or position in which a person feels secure comfortable or in control. A comfort zone may be defined as anything that keeps our anxiety in check. Or a behavioral space where your activities and behaviors fit a routine and pattern that minimizes stress and risk. It seems it is a a way of securing a sense of security and familiarity so when we leave our comfort zone we’re opening ourselves up to the possibility of stress and anxiety because we aren’t sure of what will happen next. A hint of anxiety can be helpful and push us to take some risks get more done and continually better ourselves. Healthy stress is a catalyst for growth motivation and optimal performance.

Helpful Hints for Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

    • It’s ok to start by taking small steps.
    • Try to reframe your fear into excitement. It’s a way to view what you are doing in a positive light instead of a potential negative light. Realize that whatever could go wrong isn’t as important as what could go right and be beneficial in your growing awareness of your own talents and goals.
    • Remember why you are stepping out of your comfort zone. When you focus on your reason it may give you a boost of courage energy and focus. Remember why you are taking the risk and how much it means to you to extend yourself beyond any fear.
    • Mix things up. Hang out in new locations. Visit a new restaurant. Wear something different Begin to stretch yourself out of your daily routine.

Sheryl always tell her clients who come to me for energy healing sessions and intuitive readings that there is no failure, only opportunities for new experiences and to develop the soul’s reason for having a physical life at all and that is to experience feelings emotions on all sides of the spectrum so we can remember who we are as spiritual beings having a physical life and begin to really create the best version of ourselves. Brian have a chapter “It’s Ok to Fail.” and he shares with us that concept.

The definition of fail is to fall short of success or achievement in something expected attempted desired or approved. But failure is good in that it teaches us so much. Without failure we wouldn’t be the people we are meant to become. It is an important part of building the foundation of success. Think of it as a means to the end. Just keep trying and with each attempt encourage yourself to appreciate your efforts resiliency and patience for if you are on the right path in your spiritual life plan eventually you will achieve your goals. Brian says It’s ok to fail. In fact it’s recommended.

And allowing yourself to feel vulnerable is a big step in connecting with important issues and people. The word vulnerable means being open to moral attack criticism temptation etc. or being capable of or susceptible to being wounded or hurt. Many people will do everything in their power to avoid allowing themselves to feel at the deep level or express their personal truth if they feel they will be citied or harmed in any way economically socially spiritually or face loss of anything they hold dear. While being vulnerable isn’t easy Brian deems it to be well worth the effort. When we begin to see those who open themselves up it gives others permission to do the same and allows love to expand accept yourself and life as it is and to empower your ability to create and express yourselves in ways that illuminate your life to truth and wellbeing.

Sheryl feels that Brian’s explanations through the use of words that explore our human thinking such as vulnerability, creativity, failure, intuition, balance, foundation, service, intentions, and so on, all explore the nature of your inner life or soul being so you may have a framework of guidelines to help you explore and expand your own emotions leading to more acceptance and appreciation for your life, and creating a space of peace goodness and kindness within, so you may face the challenges of your life in a more positive way.

Brian may simply want you to know that anything and everything is possible when you finally know who you are and begin to move past the fears and limitations of your childhood training and explore your own path to enjoy life on your own terms as you give out to the world the happiness and light you will find in this process of awakening transforming and living in truth. Brian offers in a clear understandable process solutions to age old questions that often have eluded many people and delayed their progress towards healing and living in joy and peace.

In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within we have seen how G Brian Benson walked away from a safe and secure lifestyle to pursue his dreams and spiritual goals taking a chance on life and himself and ultimately finding his personal power to find joy in aspects of life that others may not have thought important. Listening to his heart and following his mind or spiritual connection to all of life he was able to find and walk his life path to his destiny which was to be a free soul supporting his discoveries of what is valuable to him and indeed to all of us. It is the ability to move past fear and limitation and discover the fire or passion within that allows us to handle our challenges in appropriate and successful ways doing the best we can in all areas of our lives. Changing fear to joy happiness and well being is an immense accomplishment that demands consistent effort self investigation of emotions and learning to love yourself and others as they are.

As Brian explored the word “Gratitude” which is the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful he wrote, “Our attitude is the lens which we see the world….try and give thanks for all that comes your way, the good and the bad. You may ask , ”Why would I want to give thanks for something bad that happened?” Well, we are here to learn and grow, and the greatest learning opportunities usually occur during trying experiences. Be thankful for them and the new hopefully wiser you who come out of a tough situations. The trying times will eventually pass and you will be better prepared the next time around or better yet, you can help someone else going through a tough time with your experience.”

Brian and I would have you begin to explore your feelings and let go of past control instincts to allow life to unfold and to flow with it instead of resisting out of fears your deepest and most creative loving instincts. Embrace yourself and life, Live each day with curiosity and hope and find ways to laugh smile enjoy all the beauty within yourself and in the World. Make life what you envision and create it as you walk the path of your life each day.

  • HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE DEAL WITH “DISRUPTION” IN UNIQUE WAYS

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” host Sheryl Glick author of The Living Spirit: Answers for Healing and Infinite Love which share stories of spiritual awakening communication healing energies miracles and ways to use intuition and inner guidance to navigate the world making better choices and decisions welcomes, once again, John Vespasian author of Undisrupted helps us develop a sound plan and strategy to determine if life is running smoothly, always filled with success and happiness, or are we sometimes faced with disruptions and periods of chaos, where we need strategies to help make the best choices for success.

To listen to other interviews with John go to the radio page of www.sherylglick.com and to May 2019 to listen to John discuss his last book “Sequentiality”

As listeners of “Healing From Within” have come to expect over the years Sheryl and her guests seek new ways to understand our human and energetic duality so we may merge the best of mind body and soul to improve the human condition, ourselves, world, and make choices to further health prosperity happiness and the best version of ourselves no matter what the challenge is.

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we will begin to discover the keys to dealing with disruption and times of crisis, as John Vespasian shows us to rely on what we already know and employ skills and assets gathered in the past that we know and trust. We will see that life tends to punish lack of preparedness harshly, and also discover when disruption happens we may not have time to think or look for answers. We must be ready with a few good strategies. John will share stories of dynamic people like Savva Mamontov and Albert Schweitzer and others who were unprepared and therefore, unable to prevent disruption from destroying their own lives.

John helps prepare readers for challenges we may face at some point in our lives. John wrote, “Individuals who thought themselves blessed by fortune will unexpectedly suffer road accidents, get fired from their job, go bankrupt and lose their health, get divorced or get sued in court by friends, business partners or third parties, others will lose their savings in catastrophic investments. Lack of preparedness is dangerous very dangerous. I do not recommend it to anybody. You can be wiped out by factors that are not even mentioned in books about success. Those books will tell you what to do to get ahead in life, but that is not enough. You need to know as well how to deal with disruptions. I cannot emphasize enough the necessity of having sound workable strategies for dealing with disruptions or better still averting them. It’s a life or death question”.

John goes on to tell us the interesting story of industrialist Savva Mamontac and how he could have prevented disruption from destroying his very accomplished life. This book was actually conceived while John was reading the biography of Davva Mamontov (1841-1918). He is not well known outside Russia but he was one of the most successful industrialists in the late nineteenth century. Mamontov studied in St Petersburg and Moscow and then devoted most of his life to working as a railroad executive. His family was well established in business and he inherited the talent and personal contacts of his father. By the time he was twenty nine in 1869 Mamontov was supervising railroad projects in Siberia and Ukraine—building train connections to remote regions of the Russian Empire.

He enjoyed a harmonious personal life married to Elizabeth Sapoznikova for a life time. By 1883 he was in his forties possessed a large home in Moscow and a home the countryside. Yet neither his education nor his experience had prepared him for dealing with major disruptions. The problems started when Mamontov undertook to create companies outside his field of expertise. Now a days you will see entrepreneurs start additional companies in order to expand their reach.

Sheryl says that she is reminded of President Trump who was a land developer and real estate specialist who in the 1990’s got involved in building casino’s and lost over a billion dollars which they have been talking about on the news the past few days. It is possible he over reached and was not prepared at that time for the disruption to his life but he did survive it.

Getting back to Mamontov who was aware from newspaper stories that US steel magnates such as Andrew Carnegie were busy with steel manufacturing. The idea caught his attention. Since his railroad lines in Siberia and Ukraine were generating positive cash flow he thought of reinvesting his profits in steel manufacturing for wagons and locomotives. Yet Mamontov overlooked an important aspect that when you expand your reach few individual possess such a wide variety of skills to succeed in a new environment or area of work.

Sheryl says… I have learned even when you are well invested and prepared in any area like teaching acting or managing, consulting , it usually takes about fifteen years to become completely competent and proficient in all aspects of that line of work.

Mamontov knew how to finance build and operate railroads but this did not qualify him to run any business on earth. It is a frequent occurrence that entrepreneurs will suffer losses when they enter fields they know little about. Mamontov began to diversify his business interests in 1883 reviewing blueprints for steel mills. Five years later his dream turned into a nightmare. He faced problems he didn’t know how to solve. His whole life was disrupted and his whole future at stake. He became highly emotional got his priorities wrong and made huge mistakes. Andrew Carnegie the best American steel executive had been conscious of his limits and he never attempted to run companies outside his area of expertise.

Mamontov did something incredibly stupid. He started to cover his losses in steel manufacturing by using funds from the railroad to buy time. Shareholders and bondholders filed criminal charges against him accusing him of embezzlement and accounting fraud. His reputation was destroyed overnight. These kinds of errors people commit when they are faced with a huge disruption in their lives. We must have a sound strategy for dealing with disruption. As a result of his ineffective behavior and unpreparedness to handle the challenges of his business losses he spent the last 18 years of his life in abject poverty. Wel look at other individuals who devised strategies for reducing risks and vulnerability.

Some of the keys to dealing with disruption and times of crisis are explored. We see that life tends to punish lack of preparedness harshly and learn when disruption happens we may not have time to think or look for an answer we must be ready with a few good strategies.

The most basic technique for dealing with disruptions….Know what you know: Know what you don’t know…and stay away from the latter. Sounds simple but it is difficult to implement because it’s counterproductive. It is opposed to human nature and opposed to what most people do in times of crisis.

Ingredients of a lifestyle that keeps disruptions at bay:

Accepting the drawbacks of simplicity and speed

Discard ideas that are keeping you weak and vulnerable

Progress will be smoother if you don’t force the machine

Surprising decisions will stir up opposition, so what?

When your best option is to turn your life upside down

A resilient lifestyle and its favorable consequences

.Beware that not all knowledge is created equal

A relentless focus on existing opportunities

Productiveness as a way of life: the underlying philosophy

Solid structures and solid routines keep disruptions away

Less vulnerability, fewer disruptions: an illustration

Accepting the drawbacks of simplicity and speed

Discard ideas that are keeping you weak and vulnerable

John tells the story of a scientist Vladimir Kovalewsky who committed suicide after making impressive contributions in the field of palaeontology. He is the archetype of individuals who succumb to disruption. He almost got it right and failed because he made the same mistake millions of people make when they get in trouble. He considered wrongly that disruptions were giving him extra strength knowledge and skills that were pushing him to undertake projects that he knew very little about and were pushing him to improve.

Like other people portrayed in this book Kovalevsky was ambitious dedicated and hard working. So why did he fail in his battle against disruption. Let’s look at what happened. His language skills wee uncommon so he traveled Germany and France after graduating from St Petersburg University in Russia. His language skills were uncommon and after tutoring the daughter of exiled Russian Revolutionary Alexander Herzen’s daughter the returned to Russia where he had a disruption. He couldn’t find a well paying job.

He decided to contact Darwin and offer to translate his book The Origins of Species by Means of Natural Selection which he had become fascinated with. While translating this 500 page book he met Sophia who was 18 at the time and they shared interest in new scientific ideas. Kovalevsky grew more interested in the theory of evolution and regarded it as the key to understanding the whole universe. They soon married.

He made an amazing discovery that miniature mammals had dealt successfully with disruptions in a way that nature does: by embracing existing conditions they had grown in size but in response to disruptions they had only enhanced pre-existing traits. Similarly business breakthroughs are the result of a company’s determination to strengthen its key capacities.

To his detriment Kovalevsky failed to grasp the implication of his discovery. He did not understand that human beings must rely on existing strengths if they are to surmount disruptions. He failed to use his strengths in his life. The more he improvised the more disruption affected his life.

Sometimes someone like Kovalevsky will choose to leave a career as he did leaving law to become a paleontologist. Such disruptions can end well and should be embraced wholeheartedly if acted from a position of strength from accumulated skills suitable for the field to be entered.

It does not matter whether disruptions are unforeseen or self-created. The reason a person may choose to disrupt their lives is not hard to understand. If you love a particular line of work it will pay off because you will be acquiring knowledge fast. Kovalevsky’s transition was relatively smooth—relying on existing strengths—his knowledge of languages, familiarity with Darwin’s ideas and the savings accumulated from his translation work.

The insight here is: Nature will typically deal with disruptions by enhancing existing strengths NOT by random moves or Improvisation which rarely works

Vespasian discusses the Labor Theory of value which he believes keeps individuals passive and hoping for change and improvement of their economic conditions by simply investing more time and effort in their work practices. They expect someone will receive the full value of their work and have rewards for their efforts. However the Labor Theory suggested by Carl Marx and others is wrong. In real life the amount of labor spent does not determine the value of products and services. The value of products and services is determined by markets-or how much customers in a particular location are willing to pay at that time for the products and services. So it is important to put your efforts into creating services and products that are important to the general population at the time.

John Vespasian author of Undisrupted once again through the historical stories of famous people help us discover ways to value change and improve our decision making process based on knowledge and clarity of mind heart and body so we can be better prepared to avoid human error and improve our destiny.

In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have begun to discover one of the keys to dealing with disruption and times of crisis as we rely on what we already know and employ skills and assets gathered in the past that we know and trust. We see that life tends to punish lack of preparedness harshly and also discover when disruption happens we may not have time to think or look for answers. We must be ready with a few good strategies. John has shared amazing stories of dynamic people like Savva Mamontov and Albert Schweitzer and others who were unprepared and unable to prevent disruption from destroying their own lives but also given us the tools to reassess when a self made disruption or one that happens on its own may be approached with greater awareness of how to make it work for our greatest good.we may not have time to think or look for an answer we must be ready with a few good strategies.

We discovered the most basic technique for dealing with disruptions….Know what you know: Know what you don’t know…and stay away from the latter. Sounds simple but it is difficult to implement because it’s counterproductive. It is opposed to human nature and opposed to what most people do in times of crisis.

Among lessons learned to deal with any disruption were accepting the drawbacks of simplicity and speed, discarding ideas that are keeping you weak and vulnerable, progress will be smoother if you don’t force the machine, surprising decisions may stir up opposition, so what?, when your best option is to turn your life upside down, and a resilient lifestyle has favorable consequences. We must beware that not all knowledge is created equal as we concentrate on a relentless focus on existing opportunities. We know that productiveness is a way of life and solid structures and solid routines keep disruptions away, as does creating an environment of less vulnerability so we will experience fewer disruptions.

John and I would have you maneuver disruptions in your life accepting them as opportunities for you to further know your own talents and interests and continue to grow beyond fear and limitation as you employ the skills of self-awareness and master you emotions for defining life in all its miraculous wonderment. The key of course is preparedness and good decision making skills.

Julie shares with us remembrances of her childhood and her mother who was also a medium so she helped her embrace and understand her spiritual gifts as a clairvoyant seer and someone closely aligned to the Spiritual Realm?

Julie explains the cover and back of her new book Book of Diaries was clearly shown to her by spirit and as we know there are many layers to the Universal plan and what Spirit hopes we can accomplish in our physical lives. their help is appreciated by those who are aware of the many dimensions and life forces that are with all of us.

Sheryl tells Julie and Bill that is so interesting because when she and her editor were looking at designs for the cover of her first book Life Is No Coincidence The Life and Afterlife Connection she was shown three samples and didn’t particularly like any of them. Coincidentally when sitting in her kitchen she looked up on the wall and saw the delicate and lovely pastel drawing that had been given to her by a medium and spiritual artist while at a workshop in Toronto Canada. The drawing was of a woman’s face which looked so much like Sheryl’s mother who had passed the year before and Sheryl heard while looking at the drawing, “Here is the cover for your book.” She simply faxed the drawing to the publisher and finds joy every time she sees the cover of that book as it was also given to her by Spirit.

The layout of the book was also received in messages. We were told to put excerpts of the messages in front of the work and the entire message in the back of the book. We were supposed to start with how the world began, and then move onto stories of disciples and prophets, and then Jesus story. Later we were to put what God expects of mankind today, and then a few prophecies added at the end before the messages. The last half of the book is the entire messages in order of dates received.

The story of God’s creation is told by your communication with Abraham. You write, “I am Abraham and come in truth of soul created in Heaven within the Holy of Holies. I sit within the throne of God(the inner circle) The Heavens were in dimensions of thought (in Gods mind,) a Oneness within the Creator It’s revolution of space exists not in time or space. It is a beingness of the All ( of all that exists) a love pure and divine. A source that is beyond the Heavens.

A lesson on the Light: It cannot be seen by the physical sight of man ( it is not a physical light but spiritual Light) It is seen by the soul which, in man’s terms is the subconscious state of being, transformed to the super-conscious state of man. Our souls are raised up from a mundane existence to a higher state not just temporarily depending on the situation, but normally in a higher state which takes looking within continually, and change from within, and not dependent upon religious beliefs and affiliations.

From Apostle Matthew..The Timeless Spirit comes from God and splits off as soul that descends through denser matter, called time until it reaches earth as human form. Time can into existence as an expression.

The universe lived out its spiritual life, creating layers of dimensions of time (created its own worlds within worlds) Worlds within worlds, that declared wars within wars to have dominion over its kingdoms (the evolution of the fall of mankind becomes dominant.) This set forth the veils of darkness spiritual blindness, separated the soul from the Spirit of God. The truth of our Father God Holy Spirit was not spoken of, we forgot where they came from, forgot the Spirit of love, forgot God. It was shadowed for a will called “Self.” Instead of God’s Will, self-will ruled the world and drew forces of darkness to themselves because of their self will and likeness to darkness.

As a medium seer clairvoyant messenger of God and Spirit myself Sheryl says it has not always been easy for people to hear that we are all able to connect to this higher realm of life and intelligence and to have intuitive messages to guide us and let us know we are not alone.

JD writes why she thinks so many are resistant to this truth. JD wrote, “God’s prophets were scorned and laughed at from the beginning, and His prophets still are today. What is a prophet? One who carries God’s messages to man. Some believe that anyone hearing or seeing anything that can’t be seen by our earthly vision are possessed or influenced by darkness, or we are told that “We have the Bible, we don’t need an visions or messages. This has been my experience (Sheryl’s experience also). The Jewish people had their own belief systems and anything outside of that was considered blasphemy. I cannot persuade you, the religious, that this is not only possible today, but that God is indeed giving out the Spirit to many, generously, and that the veils have been lifted.”

JD and Bill have received messages about The Lost Books of the Essences and the Lost Books of the Apostles” that were hidden from man and not previously available for our viewing. The Essences the group Jesus belonged to were a mystical group of the Jewish people more in alignment with personal development and adherence to God’s order of nature man and spirit personally experiences.

The Essences were prevalent in the life of Jesus and later, in the lives of the apostles. Not much was written about the Essences in our present Bible history but Julie received many messages about them. The apostle Matthew heard Jesus speak and say. “Each day that we awaken to see the sunrise, give thanks to God for the blessings for awakening.” Jesus words were a deliverance of love hope and strength for all. Matthew says his heart was touched by His words but that presence of love I knew I had felt that before. It was when we were both youngsters in Jerusalem. Then He was just a boy standing on top of a wheelbarrow preaching to a crowd of people in the town square. Listening to Him this day took me back to the very moment in time when I was touched in heart by that same presence of love.

Sheryl says “The first time I felt Jesus near to me in meditation He was crying and I began to cry also. He said in my inner thoughts as I felt him at my right side.” You do the work I did. I have cried for many ills done by unknowing souls,” Jesus said, just as you and your group members also cry for the injustice and insensitivity of many.”

Julie writes, “Our Lord Jesus was a man that felt the needs in people. He wept not for Himself but for the Father God. Through His Son Jesus His God’s presence was not just felt but heard. You see it is no easy to tell the story of the Messiah my Lord Jesus for I and my fellow apostles were of the flesh. How does one conceive the presence of God in totality, in complete beingness…..we entertained doubt and fear for ourselves. This was not the way of our Lord Jesus. Yet, our Lord Jesus was there to lift us into the Light.”

Julie and Bill tell us of some of the spiritual speakers, some prophecy, and some of God’s Universal Laws. You speak of Abraham who prophesized the coming of Christ and the reawaking of the Holy spirit with the soul of mankind. You say his journey and path in the earth world was one of many heightened levels of his soul. His childhood was shadowed with darkness of influence of his family and neighbors, but his soul told him that there was more to living life than killing or swearing at his brothers and sisters. (the people around him who were family and neighbors kingship strangers did these things that he saw as a child.)

Sheryl shares with Julie and Bill that her childhood was hard as well. As an empathy Sheryl could feel the anxiety fear and anger of the adults around and also their joy and happiness and often knew it not to be the best of times or intentions. So Sheryl was either laughing or crying and trying to find the joy of her soul and reconcile it with the actual suffering she saw and felt around me in so many situations.

Julie goes on to describe how Abraham saw suffering and wrote, “ My eyes have seen, in this earth, suffering, a sickness that cannot find its way. Little children (speaking of people who were lost in Spirit) I have seen, looking for their mothers to find only the unknown of life. A sadness overshadowed them in search for its safety from darkness.

Sheryl goes on to say she knows these words as part of her own soul life and other sensitive gifted spiritual children who search for kindness and love from the elders or adults in their lives and these sensitive children often fear they will be left alone unloved and uncared for.

In the story of Moses we also find words that ring true to our loving hearts. Moses said, “To see the Creator your eyes cannot be shadowed with the mist of want or need for oneself. To supper in the taste of wine to pleasure (drinking and such) takes on its own likeness of pleasure and needs of flesh. I my child have been on that path of experience to find only emptiness, no comfort of heart only passion….Even Moses’ less than godly walk at times, in experiences in life, was used to help others because he knew that path before being called to the greater good of God’s path and could empathize with them instead of judging them.

Sheryl says, “I was a sensitive child aware of more than my body but frightened by what I saw around me in the way people acted. I had to have many experiences, jobs, travel and learn about the world and suffering, before I began my work as a spiritual light worker medium or messenger and had to transform the fear so I could fill my inner being with peace and faith to help others connect to their soul Spirit and know God. So each path is right for that soul and we should forgive even the most lost of souls as they too reflect the divine Spirit of God, and must find their way back home. Moses shared that this path was a journey spiritual as well as physical.

From the very beginning of Sheryl’s studies with Reiki Energy healing she often sensed or wished herself to sit at the right side of the throne in Heaven. And Julie wrote that Moses said to her “In these Commandments know that you will have experienced them to know them in that you will be a healer sitting on My right side on thy Kingdom in Heaven ( a healer of man’s heart) In the nights of darkness when things aren’t going well accept not it’s darkness….don’t allow negativity into your thoughts. Know in heart and in the Spirit you are One with Me in the I Am. When Sheryl was writing her second book The Living Spirit one of her mentors told her to use the title “I Am.” But Sheryl felt it might be seen as arrogant to do that. Now I see he knew that my journey of faith and healing was my path to return to God.

Julie and Bill discovered some surprises from stories never told in the bible. We heard from King David who talked of some of the mistakes he made. Also we were told that Moses received a book from the Essences that gave him instructions of the Christ to be born. The cover of that book had a circle and a triangle and a Cross within it. Also you tell of the false story of Mary Magdalene called a prostitute. It was described to us that when she was a young child she went into a town with her parents and somehow was raped and the rumor spread that she was a prostitute. Lies gossip and untruths unfortunately are written in many people’s hearts and minds and even historical renderings.

The common theme is God wants us to find out from whence we come and find our way back to Him. I believe God wants mankind to begin to move forward spiritually to bring us back to Him. He wants to raise us up a level as Jesus did for the believers of His time. With all the world strife and problems, God wants us to stop and reevaluate our lives and change. We must change so that we can find out from whence we come. As earth changes, war on own soil and world economic collapse, it will become chaotic. He is giving the Word now to set apart his true believers. There will be a SPILT with religion and the Spirit-driven believers.

The split with religion and the Spirit-driven believers will show Spirit driven believers that the messages that He and his chosen bring mankind the message that He is here to help them evolve spiritually and to realize “from whence they come” so they can return to His Heavenly Realm. The messages and prophecies God is giving now are to enlighten humanity and bring their souls up spiritually: to meet their own Spirit who awaits the reunion of the Spirit and soul in Heaven. We, individually while in Heaven before we were born wanted to experience life apart from God, and He allowed it by creating earth, the solar system and the universe for us to be co-creators. This is the life we all lead now, a life apart from God but not completely separate from him. Only by realizing this and by making changes within ourselves will we be reunited with our Spirit here on earth and beyond. We do this on earth by raising our soul up to meet our Spirit. A lifetime of inside work, within ourselves, follows.

Most have a religious idea of how things are in God’s world but these are earthbound ideas that have mostly left the Spirit out of the equation. God sent Jesus to tell us of this. but mankind has converted it into religions that leave the Spirit dangling. Tell a Christ believing person that you see Angels Jesus, let alone Moses the apostles prophets from past times and you will receive a less than loving response from most. Their ideas of God are exactly that: ideas of God, instead of a relationship with Lord God Jesus Chris in the Spirit. Most religions are fear based: speaking of the rapture that leaves their fellow human beings, to get what they deserve: left here on earth to be killed or tortured. They look down on those that have no understanding of Spirit who need to be prayed for. Jesus said to have mercy on these people and pray for them instead of preaching and ridiculing them. Be an example of Love.

There were twelve messages from Jesus. Some of them include Jesus wanted mankind to know that God is in the heart and that we must prepare our heart to lead our mind. He speaks of religion and that it sometimes gets in the way of the Spirit. There is so much in his messages that it would be difficult to just grab today.

Is this a religious book we ask Julie and Bill. They answer, “Yes and no.” While we speak of the religious prophets and messages from God we also teach an understanding of the Universe in three dimensional terms of time space and motion. We think of time as past present and future. We also speak of ourselves as having physical mental and spiritual life. Abraham wants us to see the world about us that can be seen as having three dimensions of human awareness that are states of consciousness:

    1. the conscious mind, also known as the personality self-consciousness or physical awareness
    2. the subconscious mind also known as the mind of the soul, the reservoir of feelings thoughts urges and memories of our being
    3. the super conscious mind also known as the Spirit and Higher Self (God)

As Abraham further states. That even before the Universe was created by the Creator God the divine essence of Spirit existed in even higher dimensions. As Abraham says: “Love is the key to the Life Force, the heart and the Spirit of the soul

The Book of Diaries can be of help to people. People can begin to understand that we all seek the truth of being— Beingness not only seeking, but it is about BEING in God moment by moment, present in God.

A lesson on the Light: It cannot be seen by the physical sight of man (not physical light but spiritual Light seen by seers in the Spirit.) It is seen by the soul which, in man’s terms is the subconscious state of being transformed to the subconscious state of man. )( Our souls are raised up from a mundane existence of earth to a higher state of Spirit which takes looking within and making correction of our character flaws continuously.)

Imagine that the apostles and people of Jesus’ time were really heartbroken when Jesus was nailed to the cross. Well, one of the apostles was camping out and hiding from the Jewish hierarch, Jesus appeared before him and he thought his mind was playing tricks on him. But, Jesus spoke with him and basically told him to go about doing God’s will. And passing on the message of hope There were other apostles that also had experiences after Jesus was resurrected. Sheryl says , “ By resurrected it was I believe Jesus Etheric double or spiritual energy body that the apostles saw or Jesus in Spirit or afterlife. Many people may be confused by the term Resurrection and think he was in his physical body. Jesus taught of life after life or eternal life in Spirit with the Divine source of Creation known in religion as God Universal Source or Energy.

Readers might like to take away with them after reading Book of Diaries Messages from Heaven that ”Time is a blessing my child that the Lord God created to allow the birth of Christ to manifest within the soul of mankind. As time moves forward, mankind is to manifest the Christ within, more people more deeply to be Christed and perform Jesus work as he did when on earth: we are only at the dawning of this manifestation.

Sheryl’s says…It is Jesus’ statement long ago, “ What I do you shall do and more.” And from Moses These are His words to the people. “The very same words spoken by many a prophet of the Lord I say unto you: The seat of all truth lies with faith and love (faith that God will prevail and our love for all mankind.) If ye say to your neighbor I am your friend that ye can trust and have faith in, I will not let you down. I say unto you: Your trust and faith you put in no man but in the Lord. Our neighbor is liken to us (they are) but a soul in journey to know itself and from whence it comes. We must be that which we say we are ( our word must be our bond.) That tells us of our journey to God. (If we are honest with ourselves and others, we are on the right path to God here on earth.)

Julie Cross and William Johnson authors of Book of Diaries share informative interesting and truthful loving messages from the ancient teachers spiritual leaders and prophets helping us to understand human development in relation to the beginning establishment of the earliest Patriarch religions and also a spiritual intellectual heart based search for the Super conscious ways in order to know the many dimensions and realities of the Creative Divine God Force. We learn so much more about the Universe and our continuing search for soul life and a return to higher life from this book.

In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” it has been a pleasure for me to speak with messengers and higher vibrational thinkers who align to Spirit and fill their hearts and days in love peace and well being and accomplishing their unique soul mission to share the light from within to those who also wish to serve learn and explore in this life journey ways to know ourselves in all aspects of eternal life and purpose and just BE as in the BEING. We have heard wondrous words from beloved historical figures such as Abraham Moses Jesus Archangel Michael Luke Samuel and have discovered more about the mystical group of healers The Essences in hopes of finding our own pathway forward in light and love.

Julie wrote from a message from Samuel a disciple of Jesus, “Many things were not written by the early Romans who started the Catholic faith. We do not endorse any religion, as these messages explain later that religion has become like those religious church systems of man during Jesus’ Word. In over two thousand years, man has, again, distorted or lost the meaning of what God intended. These words from God, that I scribe only, are to correct the record that He desires mankind to listen and heed. He demands nothing for Himself, God only want our heart, not the heady loftiness found in religious circles.”

Julie William and I would have you move past the fearful language and judgments in the written words of many of the religious institutions which hope to know God and to begin to find within your heart and soul what lies within you: a personal eternal deep abiding connection to Universal Creative Source Energy the Divine or God and to finally know that suffering, as well as joy, well being, love and happiness, are your choice…Choose well!

  • FREEDOM IS YOUR BIRTHRIGHT

Welcome to Healing From Within with your host Sheryl Glick Reiki Master Teacher and author of Life Is No Coincidence: The Life and Afterlife Connection and The Living Spirit and her recently released part of the trilogy A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global which share stories of spiritual awakening spiritual communication healing energies miracles and ways to known your intuition or sixth sense for navigating a physical life and finding peace prosperity and happiness. I am delighted to welcome Dr. Dravon James author of Freedom Is Your Birthright which shares ways to find peace each and every day no matter the situation and tips for the holidays which often add extra stress.

As listeners of Healing From Within have come to expect over the years my guests and I share intimate experiences and insights on energy and the combination of forces of life that define our potential to succeed in both the physical and spiritual aspects of living for we are much more than we appear to be and it is only by embracing our soul essence, intuition and Self, that we can thrive in a changing environment and everyday challenges. The duality or separation in many aspects of life disappear as we become truly awakened united within our own life plan destiny and needs and in relationships with others helps us learn how to relinquish bitterness unhappiness and let go of resistance so we can shine through all the challenges of life. We know that separation is only an illusion there to remind us of who we really are.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within Dr. Dravon James author of Freedom Is Your Birthright will share ways to look at family tensions especially during holidays and find ways to relinquish fears and bitterness and find ways to remember what is important and what we wish to really celebrate. We will learn how to let go of resistance which only holds pain and resentment and no path forward to happiness and we will learn how to prioritize so we don’t deplete our energy and natural state of happiness and well being.

Dr. James gives a wonderful quote “Break the rules. Find your freedom. Live your life.” Unknown

Let the call go forth To all the corners of this spinning star Let the call of Freedom be heard We are free, we are God’s family That’s who we are We are brown, black, yellow, red and white We sing a song of freedom in our darkest night We let the flame of freedom be our guiding light Freedom, Freedom, Freedom — woh oh oh oh, Freedom We are every color We are every country We are every creed We are all God’s family Freedom, Freedom, Freedom — oh oh oh oh, Freedom

Lyrics from Freedom by Jack Barnard

Dravon then wrote how she feels about freedom of the soul, “Freedom is your birthright is the first stepping stone on this life long journey towards Every Day Peace. When you finish reading and completing the exercises in this tiny book you will have discovered that your freedom is a precious gift. You will no longer be comfortable with relinquishing your freedom to the trials and tribulations of daily life. You will become more aware of how exercising your freedom in every situation is more beneficial than giving way to, anger, sadness, bravado or any other form of ego activity. Every Day Peace is possible. We are designed to live every day at peace. It is the deviation from this natural design that has caused our emotional upset…off the chart stress levels and the upheaval in every other aspect of our lives. The deviation from a life of every day peace has left us no choice but to embrace an unnatural life of every day chaos. The journey that you have begun, with this first stepping stone, will lead you on the pathway to experiencing peace every day. Peace, defined as; wholeness, completeness, nothing missing, wholeness, nothing broken, totality.

Dravon tells us some ways she has discovered Freedom and gives us her definition of Freedom for everyone finds a different way to describe it.

“Know and believe that everything, before this moment in your life, in fact in the history of the world, has come with the purpose of reinforcing the truth of you. In its most basic form, the truth is that you are free. It is your birthright!

As I write this I am well aware that a casual observer would scoff at the idea that everything about my history reinforces my freedom. As an African American woman, to many, I represent 300 years of slave oppression and the uphill global battle for female equality. Still, regardless of pedigree, you, like me, were born to be free.

This right of freedom is not predicated on someone else’s belief, but is instead given to us as a gift for attending the party of life.

The word freedom means many different things to many people. If you want to have lively conversation bring up the subject of freedom at your next dinner engagement. The idea of freedom evokes passion in all of us. And while most of us would not jump at the opportunity to relinquish our freedom, sadly many of us live a life of self-imposed bondage.

When we speak of freedom we must differentiate between external and internal freedom. External freedom includes broad issues such as political and economic freedom and personal freedoms.

Personal freedom includes things as important as who you choose to marry, your occupation, where you live and smaller details such as what type of vehicle you drive or if you choose to drive at all, what type of clothing you wore today and what you will eat for lunch. Yes, laws and social norms can impact our external freedom; If you decide that you are not going to wear clothing to the office that choice may be met with a pink slip, but for the most part the list of external personal freedoms is extensive.

Internal freedom involves our approach to life. It’s a knowing and understanding that you and the creator of life are the only two who have ultimate control of your life experience. Internal freedom suggest that that you are responsible and have control over how you perceive, act, and react in every life situation.

For the most part, this book discusses internal freedom. But internal and external freedom are not mutually exclusive, they are forever entwined. You will discover that as you increase your conscious awareness and utilization of internal freedom that your external world will improve. It will rise to meet the high standards of your internal world.

Dravon offers an exercise called “Friends & Freedom and suggests that before getting started, name at least three people you know personally who seem to be most free and ask why they seem so free to you.

Sheryl says: People who are free trust themselves and their inner sense of Being…they do not rely on the outside world to validate them but do what they feel is in the best interest of their own personal development. They serve, they love they enjoy life and they play and work joyfully to do the best they can to participate in life and share each day with others.

Dravon says “Freedom is not Free.” As she writes this her mind immediately visits situations in which the body is not free, but please understand that the body is under submission to the physical world. And the physical world is ultimately under the influence of the unseen energies and beliefs that we hold to be true and unchanging. We must first become free in Truth — and then physicality has no choice but to submit to that freedom.

Dravon tells a story of The Art of Listening. She has a very close relation who was sentenced to life in prison. She uses the name Steven. (Frankly, I don’t know if Steven actually committed the crime for which he was sentenced. I never asked him and he never thought to discuss his guilt or innocence with me.) This was his second conviction. He had previously served ten years and during that time our contact was sporadic at best. When Steven was released we attempted to stay in touch, but the rigors of daily life and living in different time zones limited our conversations. He was only out a few years before he was arrested, with a sentence this time of twenty years to life. Needless to say, I was devastated because I knew that Steven had a good heart and, like so many of us, he was allowing fear to choose his path.

We talked a lot more during the early years of his second incarceration and I could hear the invisible tears in his voice, the unspoken plea for change, strength, and understanding in his words. He blamed the system, the country, the circumstances, and life in general. Everything he said was factual, but I knew that Steven was not allowing room for growth. He was not choosing for himself.

Steven was allowing fear to do all his thinking and consequently living the life that fear built instead of the life that freedom allowed. This time he served twenty-six years, but something had changed. As the years crept by, I began to notice that our conversations were different. I should more accurately say; his conversations were different because most of the time I was silent and just let him release. He talked about the same things but his focus had shifted I remember one particular conversation about a new inmate being killed for bumping into someone. This was not the first time Steven had recalled stories of violence. Previously he would have given me the gory blow-by-blow descriptions with vivid passion. If someone who didn’t know him overheard our conversation they would have thought his violently-charged zeal was the ranting of a hardened criminal.

But the art of listening often requires that we hear what is not being said. The earlier conversations, back then, were filled with fear. Fear was choosing his words and his outlook. I must admit that listening to the stories from miles away, tucked safely in my home, often caused me to shudder with fear. He didn’t spare any of the details, and I didn’t ask him to, but at the end of the telling of this specific tale, he said something that I will always remember. Steven said, “As I watched that grown man dying, it occurred to me that he was killed by his choices.”

I had never heard him speak from the perspective of freedom and choices. This was a powerful shift. From that juncture, he began to talk more and more about choosing what he wanted from life. Today, Steven is a free man with all the trials and struggles of trying to re-integrate into society. Still, he daily chooses thoughts, conversations and activities that reflect freedom; physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Sheryl says to Dravon that we are all aware of the political divide in our nation at the present time and all this talk of white privilege identity politics making certain groups victims and others oppressors, and the separation of people by gender race sexual preference economic status religion and so on and so on. Personally as a white Jewish woman I have never felt myself to be unable to do anything. Maybe being in the gifted class when I was younger and dealing with boys on an equal footing, I felt fairly comfortable with all people and as I got older and moved through many different work and social conditions I become at home within myself and physically grounded to my inner soul energy recognizing the importance of personal power and choices to deal with situations as they occurred. As a woman, as a Jewish woman I could have blamed others, but I always made choices to do my best and help myself and others to enjoy life. I taught I studied design and managed my own business and then managed a large furniture business. Finally having great mystical and spiritual encounters, I returned to teaching and then studied energy healing wrote several books about knowing we are more than the physical body and life and have a private Reiki healing practice, still always helping others to awaken to the “Freedom Within” and to the possibilities for success and happiness “In Truth” not only by the standards of others, I think what is going on in our Nation is the severe loss of Personal Freedom and the glorification of Group Think or Mind Wars that destroy our personal freedom. It makes me sad for you and I are sharing the true way to know our eternal life force and it is only when this is known that we will be able to end this destruction by groups that favor their own personal agendas.

Dr. James suggests we begin to do certain exercises to keep a level of balance and peace within. We might begin monitoring our own thoughts and conversations. Changing your internal and external conversations is a daily practice —emphasis on a word practice — and I still occasionally catch myself having conversations that enslave me to fear. But after years of practice I have become more sensitive to the effects of negative conversation. I can feel how negative conversations, internal and external, drag my mood downward and result in a mediocre day at best.

But I desire to have peace all day, every day, so when necessary, I have learned to quickly adjust my conversations. “…the tongue has the power of life & death…” Proverbs 18:21

Dravon shares how to handle dealing with people work or challenges that are uncomfortable for us.

Dravon writes, “Certain people and certain situations: Of course we would love to get along with everyone. Maybe you remember the popular television program, “Cheers.” I loved the theme song lyrics, “…sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name…” Friends and smiling faces make the journey so much more enjoyable, but be aware: when you are making the decision to live free, not everyone will be ready to get on board at the same time. People and situations that make you feel small and insignificant can sap your energy and before long you’re making decisions that represent bondage instead of freedom. Do what you love, love what you do: Early in my career as a pharmacist I relocated to a new town to live closer to some of my college friends. I loved being with them, we were young professionals, making serious money and having a great time, but there was one small detail (that turned out not to be a small detail at all). I didn’t like the work that I did.

Of course, I was grateful and felt fortunate, but the job made me feel small. I discussed my feeling with some of my close colleagues. They agreed that there were some areas for improvement but all in all I had a pretty good job.

I felt that it was the worst decision that I could have ever made. I was convinced that I was not operating in my purpose. Often, I felt physically ill before going to work. Instead of listening to that voice inside that was telling me to try something else, I questioned my work ethic. I scolded myself for not being more appreciative. I listened to everyone else’s assessment, but not my own. I let fear talk me into staying on the job. I reasoned that I had so much student loan debt that it would be foolish to walk away simply because I was unhappy.

Who was I to choose being happy over responsible? It was only after attending a corporate-sponsored weekend event that I discovered that there was nothing wrong with me. I was just wired differently from some of my friends and colleagues.

You can spend a lifetime letting circumstances and people convince you that you don’t deserve freedom or you can stand in the face of circumstances and people and declare that freedom is your birthright, and that you choose freedom.

Well, of course you want to know what I did with the job situation that made me feel small. It didn’t take me too long to see the obvious, “get another job.” I had to try different situations until I found the right fit for my personality and my gifts.”

Sheryl says that she has found that self-investigation and coming to appreciate or love yourself just as you are, makes it possible to deal with all people and situations in a healthier way. In her book The Living Spirit Sheryl wrote, “When following your spiritual path it is critical that you learn to avoid being vulnerable from damaged or toxic people and to emote greater loving feelings to help in their healing. These individuals operate on a low vibrational frequency, and many of them are quite comfortable doing so.

Perhaps they resonated with you at some point in your life, but as you seek your own truth and enlightenment they will keep you stagnant and rooted in old beliefs that you need to shed in order to move to the next level. They can also drain you of the positive energy and joy that is your natural state and God-given right.”

Freedom will take sacrifice, but it will be worth it.

“Freedom is nothing else but a chance to be better.” Albert Camus

Understanding the past present and future lead to greater freedom and peace. Dravon wrote, “The Past: Have you ever noticed how much time we spend thinking about the past? Past hurts, mistakes, regrets, missed opportunities. The past shapes way too many of our present-day decisions. It can rob us of our freedom and keep us chained to fear.

You may be thinking that not all past memories are bad. What about those good memories? How could they possibly get in the way of your freedom? But they can. Those good old days can enslave you and snatch today’s bountiful fruit right out of your hands. When you’re focused on the past you spend your time either running from it or trying to recreate it, both of which are wastes of precious time. One of the most productive ways to make great use of your freedom is to determine what you want to achieve with your life. Focus on what you want not what you don’t want.

“There can be no real freedom without the freedom to fail.” Eric Hoffer

Understanding the ego leads us to create greater happiness and joy in life for we know that with each perceived attack from an external source the ego grows in its effort to outwardly defend itself and its right to exist. This increased fighter energy attracts more stressful, argumentative, disagreeable people and circumstances into the individual’s space. In fact, the person will become hypersensitive to these energies. Their day, their week and consequently their life, if they don’t change in some areas, will result in an ill-at-ease environment, in a fight-or-be-killed tension.

Conversely, when the people who have claimed their birthright – their freedom – experience undesirable situations early in the start of their day, they are able to process the event quite differently. They are more apt to see that something appearing unfortunate has occurred. They can allow themselves to feel the anger, the sadness, the aggravation, or whatever emotions arise as a result of the event, without letting the emotion overtake their day — or even their hour. They know that nothing can remove their freedom. They are free to find peace even in the midst of unfortunate events. They understand that there are those days when you must search deeper to connect to joy, but that joy is ever-present. “

You are free to be, and to be at peace. But know this: the being at peace part requires a consciousness that may not be a part of conventional thinking. Fear and worry are the least intelligent responses to any type of unwanted circumstance that appears in your life. Once you begin to use worry and fear to help sort a solution to a so-called problem, it doubles your pain by adding more to fret over. If you came into a dark room, would you attempt to remedy the situation by closing the curtains?

e approach the holidays using all the ideas we have talked about today even when for example your new husband’s sulky teenage daughter is making it clear she doesn’t want to spend the holidays with you or you spend so much time preparing shopping and your gifts and attention are seemingly unappreciated?

There is an effective way and an ineffective way to handle these circumstances. Unfortunately, the ineffective way has become more accepted — even though it prolongs our discomfort. Resisting an unwanted circumstance does not remove it from your life. It actually does the polar opposite. It attracts more of the same. Resisting requires you to hold a firm mental image of it in your mind. It requires that you attach strong emotions to the mental image and that you speak about the unwanted circumstance as much as possible. Resisting provides all the energy needed to breathe life into the circumstance and thus prolongs its presence in your life.

Resistance, like ego, is seeking to protect you, but it is a juvenile approach to peace, in fact, drawing in more of the unwanted.

Mother Teresa once said that she would not attend an antiwar protest, but if there was a pro-peace event she would be interested. This statement is right in line with the correct way to approach those unwanted things that sometimes show up. We can acknowledge them and then put our focus, our energy on what we want to have in our lives. Instead of resisting what you do not want, choose to embrace what you do want

Dravon might like you to remember that In order to live free, you have to be willing to reject some commonly held notions. Here’s a big lie to let go of: multitasking is the mark of a highly effective person. It is not! Multitasking increases the feeling of anxiety.

Resist the temptation to rush, instead take a “one thing in this one moment,” approach to your day. “Be happy for this. This moment is your life.” Omar Khayyam

We want thank Dr. Dravon James author of Freedom Is Your Birthright for sharing in a very concise clear way much about our essential life force and combined physical and spiritual energy which allows us to know that Freedom is Our Birthright and to know we are spiritual beings having a physical life which is the key to living a more authentic positive healthy life journey.

In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have come to realize simple shifts may be chosen to encourage us to live and walk in a peaceful way understanding the needs of all people while encouraging our own personal self development and living the life we were born to live as souls enjoying the physical world. We also learn to remember the divinity within us and the freedom we may enjoy if we move past resistance of any kind, to embrace what calls us to action, for the improvement of ourselves families communities and indeed the world. We move past conventional thinking and what the world might expect of us, to find the truth “within” and to honor love and appreciate life and all living beings without expecting perfection. This state of being allows us to move past judgment blame or criticism and negative thinking which keeps us from our path to healing and love.

Remember life is a series of challenges and experiences that give us the opportunity to grow.

As Dr. Dravon James wrote, I really wanted to be an anomaly to the commonly held view: growth happens in the struggle. I wanted to be a good person, and I wanted to grow without any challenges, without adversity. I’m sure that you already know, that prayer was not answered, not in the way that I prayed it. Yes, I grew just like every other living thing on the planet. I grew through my challenges.

Dravon and I would have you know that the experiences or challenges that come into all of our lives is but a way to know ourselves and the world in a new way a better way than before the event and to continue to move forward with good will and clear intentions to grow in love and personal awareness of the joy of life…growing from the challenge not limited or restricted in any way but accepting and surrendering in forgiveness if need be and in love with life and Spirit.

  • DEPRESSION AND WAYS TO LIVE WITH IT

Welcome to “Healing From Within” with your host Sheryl Glick author of The Living Spirit Answers for Healing and Infinite Love which shares stories of spiritual awakening spiritual communication healing energies and miracles along with ways to discover your intuition and to use it for creating a healthy prosperous joyful life experience. Today Sheryl is delighted to welcome Alicemarie O’Neill author of The Formula 7 Steps for Healing From Depression which offers ways to recognize and manage the imbalance. seven steps for healing from depression and manic depression as well as bipolar disorder. All illness is simply an imbalance in the body mind or spirit and can be brought into alignment with our creative force of life for having a more positive life experience.

As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware Sheryl and her guests share intimate stories of metaphysical events or awareness of the fact we are more than our physical bodies and are indeed infinite soul beings gathering experiences in this three dimensional physical life to simply remember the magnificent potential we have to create extraordinary lives with our thoughts actions and a higher awareness or consciousness of Universal Energy that we are all derived from and connected to.

In today’s episode of “Healing From Within” Alicemarie O’Neill will help us realize that most humans are challenged by either an emotional physical or spiritual concern and it is not that we are completely creating that scenario with our fears and our intentions, but may have brought the challenge in along with our soul’s journey into this life. In becoming aware first and foremost we allow ourselves to begin to look for answers and solutions so we may move from fear and dysfunction to positivity happiness and help refine our soul essence. Depression is indeed a challenging and commanding issue to deal with and understanding the nuances and mood swings are imperative to really becoming aware of what you or a family member may be experiencing and feeling during different cycles.

When Alicemarie is asked to think back to her childhood and remember a person place or event that may have been meaningful to her she shares a poignant and difficult memory. Alicemarie’s younger brother was born with a hole in his heart and was one of the first children to undergo open heart surgery a very new process at that time. Alicemarie’s mother who she says was quite religious prayed and told God that if her son could live she would dress him in brown every day in honor of St. Frances who she had great love for. Indeed the boy survived for ten years and then developed leukemia and passed. Alicemarie and Sheryl chose to see the miracle that his mother’s prayers had created a miracle and he had ten years with them rather than see the loss. AS many of us know we all have a time to be here in life and then a time to be in life beyond and as spiritual beings are always creating and living in the energy of the Divine so nothing is lost just transmuted and changed to adapt to other forms of living.

Alicemarie and Sheryl go on to discuss suicides which are rising at an alarming rate in the US due to many factors including depression mental illness and the fast moving technological life style that is creating many disconnections from our gentler soul based reality. Examples of celebrities such Anthony Bourdain, Kate Spade, Robin Williams, Kurt Cobain, Alexander McQueen, as well as young people teenagers alert us to look at the conditions that made life unbearable for them and discover ways to help people who suffer from depression and a disconnect from themselves and others to find relief when possible.

Alicemarie shares with us that In college, her primary fields of study were criminology and sociology, and her degree included a minor in psychology. There, she discovered she was a natural counselor and began working as a mental health counselor. It was work she loved and did well, using her degree and unique spiritual sensitivities and experience to help others. In 1989, she began learning alternative forms of counseling that included astrology and embraced spiritual counseling. Highly personalized, these forms provided direction with healing. For the past twenty-five years, Alicemarie has been practicing as an astrologer and spiritual counselor. Sheryl as listeners know is an energy healing Reiki Master Teacher and medium who uses an understanding of ancient eastern alternative methods including the ancient forms of understanding that every living thing and planet has a vibration and energy and utilizing what is needed calms invigorates or causes other emotional states. Learning to feel and use energy wisely is the key to health prosperity and happiness.

Alicemarie shares her recovery and insights along the way. More than that, the real purpose of The Formula is to offer a proven healing approach to those who suffer depression or manic depression. Alicemarie hopes to encourage a conversation that explores the connection between depression or manic depression and awakening consciousness. In her experience, depression is sorely misunderstood while manic depression has become the “flavor of the day.” Yet neither is seen for what it truly is: a suffering of the spirit and a struggle to expand consciously. Alicemarie’s sincere desire is for her book to serve those dealing with depression or manic depression and she does that in a way that is most concise accurate and offers workable techniques. Those who would benefit the most from the tried-and true method she presents need only implement it to see results. As one who has been diagnosed with bipolar I disorder and suffered from repeated episodes of the illness, Alicemarie takes liberties sharing her experiences through the illness, as well as with the vital recovery process in her book. She speaks about the illness through her eyes and experience, knowing we all have different experiences with mood disorders. Some people cycle within days; others, seasonally. My cycles lasted more than a year in some cases. It is the recovery that’s important here.

Alicemarie offers seven steps for healing from depression and manic depression and or bipolar disorder. Like all suggestions some may benefit more than others as the situations and problems are always unique and of course we recommend you have medical assistance and group or individual therapy and also energy healing sessions..all work in tandem to find unique cures for our specialized reactions to life.

This is exactly what The Formula offers. These are the seven steps which must be realized and incorporated into your unique healing plan.

Step one is stabilization. Whether we use traditional medication, alternative supplements, therapy, or Eastern medical traditions, it is vital that we stabilize. If we are seeing a psychiatrist or medical doctor (or both), it is important to achieve the proper combination of medications. If we choose a naturopath or alternative therapist, we must make sure our supplements or therapies work for us. If we don’t stabilize, we won’t glean the real value of the other tools in Th e Formula. We can use mental alchemy, but it is much more difficult without stabilization. We can use meditation, but the motivation to do so comes with great difficulty. If we do not stabilize, we put ourselves in great danger. I have counseled many people with mental health issues or active mental illness. I have tried to work with clients who refuse medication. I find that those who stabilize with medication or supplements or a combination thereof are ready for the next step. Their focus is sharp, and their reasoning abilities are keen. Those who refuse medication continue to do the same things over and over again, and nothing works. The help is available, but we must have the courage to reach out and accept it.

Step two is empowered thinking. When we experience depression, we feel deflated, and our thoughts reflect this. How many times do our thoughts berate us? How often do our thoughts encourage us? Replacing discordant, inharmonious, negative thoughts with harmonious, encouraging, positive thoughts is empowering. This is the ancient art known as mental alchemy. Mental alchemy has been practiced successfully for thousands of years. Affirmations can be an aspect of this practice and are used to change thoughts from disabling to facilitating, from self-defeating to energizing. Inspiring affirmations assist us in transforming our thoughts. Mental alchemy calls for alchemical actions: that is, empowering thoughts made active. Counseling and therapy are included in this step, for they also work with our thoughts. Th ere are various forms of therapy that are interesting and successful. Talk therapy is the most common form of psychotherapy, but we will examine other forms as well. Counseling and therapy can be vital components of our healing journey and can be used long-term or for short periods, but they are not for everyone. The other tools set forth in this book provide a basis for making informed decisions about therapy.

Step three is mental and emotional exercises. This step provides enjoyable exercises that stretch and work the mind. Reading may seem like an easy task, but when the ability to focus and concentrate is limited by mania or depression, reading can be a major chore. After psychosis, having presence of mind seems to be a huge undertaking. We will examine ways to increase focus and concentration. These proven methods exercise the mind to reap major benefits.

Step four is the physical world. We address proper diet and exercise, grooming, and sleep. We open up to the natural world and its many healing attributes. We begin to take our place as part of this natural world, and we find healing practices throughout. When we feel like a part of something— in this case the world of nature—feelings of isolation and despair dissipate. We’ll examine just how this can come about.

Step five is routines and responsibilities. Although these can aid in our healing, they are oft en the first to be neglected when depression or maniagains a hold on us. They are also vital to recovery. Routines can take the form of rituals, which have a powerful and positive effect on the spirit. We are creatures of habit; whatever we do habitually will work to either our benefit or our detriment. We’ll look at these areas of life and make them positive, healing sources of pride. Accountability is also included in this step. We are accountable for our behavior. When we are ill—depressed or manic—we oft en do not connect with our behavior. It can feel distant, like we’re viewing someone else. Because we are oft en disconnected from our actions, we might not take responsibility for them, or we might diminish our own culpability. In this step, we examine our behavior. We work with accountability, recognizing its importance in our healing journey.

Step six is social contacts. These are our relationships with family and friends. Chances are, whenever we are depressed or manic, our families suffer right along with us. Oft en they want to help but feel powerless. Usually they do not understand our illness, and they cannot appreciate our torment. Family and friends learn to keep their distance from us when we are depressed or manic. These extreme moods frighten them. That which we do not understand oft en frightens us, and this is true for everyone. We also want distance from loved ones when we are depressed because being in a social setting can be exhausting. Socializing and any attempt at conversation can require great effort. We prefer our own company to that of others, yet we are uncomfortable with ourselves as well. Since we don’t have the inclination or the will to engage in conversation, we keep to ourselves. Making the effort to turn this around—just a wee bit at a time—is one of the most worthwhile activities we can undertake. It is important to remember that what is necessary is healing, and action is required. If we have a pet, we might neglect its care, depending on the depth of our illness. During deep depression, many of us still reach out to our dog or cat. Pets provide special relationships in our lives. They know only unconditional love. They don’t judge us, and we don’t need to give them long, detailed explanations of our behavior. Our animal companions are simply happy to see us each and every time we walk through the door. Because they are so sensitive to us, they give affection freely. They are little healers.

Step seven is mindfulness and meditation. This step is for our long term wellness and addresses both mind and spirit. It can begin at any stage of our recovery, but the sooner we move into the practices of mindfulness and meditation, the quicker we reap the marvelous benefits. The practice of mindfulness helps us be in the moment. With mania, we are oft en fixated on the future, and with depression, we are stuck in the past. Neither does us any good, for it is in the present, the here and now, that our recovery takes place. We also explore the various forms of meditation. Meditation is its own reward. It is the practice of quieting our minds. With time, meditation gives us peace of mind that has lasting effects. (It is the only practice I have found to soothe my busy mind, which is a huge endorsement of the practice.)

There are several different approaches for treatment-resistant depression, including brain stimulation therapies. Electroconvulsive therapy is the most widely known, and NIMH says it’s the most researched stimulation therapy with the longest use history. Other stimulation therapies include vagus nerve stimulation, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, magnetic seizure therapy, and deep brain stimulation. They are considered to be newer and more experimental methods. Other unconventional methods for treating depression include hallucinogenic, or “magic,” mushrooms. They were popular in the 1960s but outlawed in 1968. The psychoactive qualities of the mushrooms have a direct effect on consciousness. It is clear that the brain is highly complex. How we experience depression has individual characteristics. How we respond to treatment is uniquely personal, as well. Those who suffer from it share certain features of the disorder, but it’s important to be somewhat experimental with treatment options. Any approach to treating depression and manic depression needs to encompass several disciplines. In other words, it must be holistic: the whole person must be treated, from thought processes to personal care, and from adjusting thinking patterns to building mental muscle.

Alicemarie writes, “We live in exciting times. The energy both thrills and terrifies, and time races. Change is swift , and customs and traditions no longer dictate our behavior. Technology seems to be an Olympic event as more sophisticated gadgets hit store shelves in rapid succession. Time-honored institutions are transforming, while the enormous cost of education makes it less accessible than ever before. Communications are instantaneous as that etheric world, the Internet, clamors for our attention and challenges us just to keep up with its pace. A time such as this is not for the faint of heart. In the midst of all this change, we fi nd ourselves participants in and witnesses to the next step of human growth. We seem to be evolving as a species. The planet is evolving too, its trajectory probably attributable in some measure to our self-centered tenancy on Earth. We don’t have a choice in the nature of these changes. Our growth is one of expanding consciousness. It’s happening worldwide, and no one is immune. If we don’t become more self-aware, more consciously awake, we won’t survive the shift ing evolutionary winds. Our survival depends on expanding our consciousness beyond the limited perspectives we currently holding. We must survive the turbulence of personal breakdown much the way the world must survive the changes we are experiencing. This is what we are experiencing in the first decades of the twenty-first century. History contains myriad examples of groups who resisted change, and now it almost seems as if society is attempting to reverse course. The fringe seek to disrupt rather than problem-solve. Questions persist that are not yet taken seriously: Do we want to survive and thrive, or do we want to destroy ourselves?”

You might wonder what depression and manic depression have to do with all of this. Become aware that, as we evolve in consciousness, we see substantial increases in depression and manic depression. The numbers are climbing among all age groups, and as we grow older, our likelihood of experiencing depression increases. Studies show that many people who suffer from depression or manic depression are among our best and brightest. These sensitive, creative individuals have much to contribute, but society loses out on their gift s because they lose hope. These gifted people have a great deal to offer, but their illness can drive them to despair and self-destructive behavior.

Alicemarie’s interest in the indigenous cultures intrigued Sheryl as she has recognized that our connection to our Universal Ancestors and remembrance of our destiny as evolving spiritual/human beings is a complex reality and we must learn to balance our spirit with our bodies and the physical planet. Different cultures take varying approaches in dealing with mental illness. In indigenous cultures, the mentally ill are not ostracized as in Western culture. Rather, they are mentored and taught to use their creativity and sensitivity in service to others. Indigenous cultures have considered shaman as their spiritual leaders and healers for thousands of years. The shamanic tradition continues to this day in many areas of the world, including North America. The shamanic method in some cultures considers a person who suffers from mental illness to be in a spiritual rather than psychological condition. Those who develop mental disorders are those who are sensitive. Western culture views sensitivity as oversensitivity. Indigenous cultures don’t see sensitivity that way and, as a result, sensitive people don’t experience themselves as overly sensitive. In the West, “It’s the overload of the culture they’re in that is just wrecking them,” observes Dr. Somé. The frenetic pace, the bombardment of the senses, and the violent energy that characterizes Western culture can overwhelm sensitive people.”

People in the West feel uncomfortable with mental illness. We don’t understand it and don’t know how to deal with it, so we often shun those who suffer from illnesses or disorders of the mind. Yet how would we treat the depressed and manic-depressive differently if we saw their disorders as a part of the process of the evolution of consciousness (which is a spiritual occurrence)? How could we stigmatize those who are having a difficult time breaking through the boundaries of the old paradigm?

Where are you in terms of your attitude and especially your moods? This question can help you pinpoint the answer.

    • You have anxiety that makes you feel as if you’re drowning on dry land.
    • Your life circumstances seem hopeless.
    • It’s difficult to get out of bed in the morning, or alternatively, you have problems sleeping (you can’t fall asleep, or you regularly wake when you don’t want to).
    • Every activity feels like it is a major effort.
    • You have lost your energy and feel helpless.
    • You have lost interest in sexual activities.
    • Your appetite for food is either gone or insatiable.
    • You feel as if you are in a dark tunnel with no light in sight.
    • You have lost your joy in living.
    • You feel as if this will never end or your life will never improve.
    • You have an overall feeling of worthlessness.
    • You are using alcohol or street drugs to medicate or “even out” your mood.
    • You are contemplating ending it all.

If the majority of these characteristics apply to you, you are likely depressed. You might feel that you have tried plenty of treatments, medications, or both, and still find yourself in this place of desperation. The good news is that there’s real hope. You can be treated, and there’s a formula for recovery.

On the opposite side of that coin, the following characteristics can indicate a parallel mood disorder:

    • You feel euphoric.
    • You believe you have superior abilities even though you might have no training.
    • You are not sleeping, or you sleep little and fitfully.
    • Your speech is rapid, and you talk nonstop.
    • You have lost your appetite for food.
    • You are hypersexual.
    • You indiscriminately spend large amounts of money.
    • You are easily irritated.
    • You use alcohol or street drugs to slow down.

If the majority of these characteristics apply to you, you are likely manic. When a person exhibits characteristics of both depression and mania at different times, he or she is termed bipolar, or manic-depressive. Features of depression alone, without the mania, are termed unipolar. These are not only serious illnesses; they are spiritual maladies. And they can be effectively treated on both levels.

State of Mental Health in America. If you think you are unipolar or bipolar, you are not alone. Recent statistics from the National Alliance on Mental Illness2 provide a sobering picture of the state of mental health for American adults.

    They include:

    • 6.9 percent, or 16 million, live with major depression.
    • 2.6 percent, or 1.6 million, live with bipolar disorder (manic depression).
    • 18.1 percent, or 42 million, live with anxiety disorders, which are often experienced in tandem with major depression and bipolar disorder.
    • Approximately 8.4 million adults have co-occurring mental health and addiction disorders.
    • Approximately 26 percent of homeless adults in shelters live with serious mental illness. In addition, the U.S. Justice Department reports that 24 percent of state prisoners have had histories of a mental health condition.

In our Western culture, depression and manic depression are considered mental illnesses. They affect our behavior toward ourselves and others, and they make life difficult. We can be indecisive or make uncharacteristic choices. Our sense of ourselves is dark and pessimistic.

How to find the gift in the complexity of the challenge of depression.

Alicemarie writes, “Our minds and spirits are constructed of marvelous features. The mind enables existence and operational maneuvering through life; the spirit provides the incentive for living. In addition, the spirit gives us meaning while the mind provides reason and direction for that meaning. When they operate properly, we hum along in a united, healthy manner. When there is discord within or between them, nothing operates well. If one is affected, both are affected, for they are a team. Mind and spirit complement and rely on each other for success. It’s not necessary to have a particular belief system regarding spirit, for spirit operates whether or not we believe in it. Spirit provides the breath of life.”

Sheryl shares a thought that many are unable perhaps to realize: that it is working in a balanced way with our intuitive guidance soul essence that allows us to maneuver the world and find the best way to live in harmony and peace and a state of calm to monitor our energy so we are not overwhelmed by the needs of the outside world, but focus on self-investigation and the journey of the soul which is what life in a three dimensional world is really about.

Alicemarie also writes about individualist thoughts which can either be greatly rewarding or challenging depending on how we use them and wrote, “This group of thoughts expresses originality, independence, freedom, and inventiveness. These are the thoughts that question authority and rebel against unreasonable restrictions in our lives. Individualistic thoughts provide the impetus for change, embracing the new and innovative. They are higher expressions of intellectual thoughts. On the positive side, individualistic thoughts can give a person a magnetic personality, an adventurous spirit, and a highly intuitive mind. However, when individualistic thoughts become discordant or inharmonious, we can attract people who are less than pleasant into our lives. These might be friends or relatives who don’t act in our best interest, yet profess their loyalty and concern. We sabotage ourselves when individualistic thoughts conflict. We might see ourselves as isolated, alone, or misfits, becoming recluses or misunderstood loners. Or we can set ourselves apart from others and think we are superior. Whenever we see ourselves as exceptions rather than as parts of the whole, we set ourselves up for a fall. When we’re depressed, we feel completely alone. We isolate ourselves because we think we’re unfit company, and we don’t have the energy or inclination to be social. We might believe we’re the only ones in such pain and get caught in the victim mentality. By acting that way, we attract more of that energy to us.

Alicemarie and Sheryl discuss moving beyond the debilitating energies of shame and grief which are so prevalent in our society.

Sheryl would say, “ Shame grief suffering like any other negative feeling exists if you allow yourself to stay in that energy. There are so many emotions to feel and that is the purpose of a physical life for a soul to feel all of the emotions and to move through them like water flows from one level to another barely stopping unless blocked by an obstacle which inserts itself into the natural progression. By remembering the light and love as your true soul nature you can choose not to engage the shame others try to impose on you realizing that if you try your best you have already succeeded in conquering the fears that others try to bring you into. You can recognize those states but also you can choose to turn away from staying in that story choosing to create a new reality that brims with happiness and joy.

In Sheryl’s book The Living Spirit in reference to this she wrote, ‘We should aim to become a person who doesn’t find fault in others, moving past personal obstacles with courage, hope and faith to find peace. Be free of any influence of others that take that state of mind-peace away from you. Recognizing another avenue for finding happiness is possible when we finally admit, “Not only are we not perfect, no one is perfect.” We must continue to learn what makes us tick, and what makes others react as they do, but should acknowledge that we can only change ourselves and our outdated thinking by realizing we are responsible for our own actions. The choice to accept others and ourselves with our frailties and sometimes negative behaviors can be hard, yet it is necessary in order to have times when we feel like we are on cloud 9.”

Alicemarie mentions PTSD can be treated much like depression manic depression or bi-polar illness and it is a condition that has to do with any traumatizing event: abuse of any kind and not merely related to conditions affecting soldiers in war. Therapy comes in many forms. Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy, teaches strategies and tools for coping with mental illnesses. Among the types of psychotherapy is cognitive behavioral therapy, which the National Institutes of Health (NIH) describes in the following terms: Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a blend of two therapies: cognitive therapy (CT) and behavioral therapy. CT was developed by psychotherapist Aaron Beck, MD, in the 1960s. CT focuses on a person’s thoughts and beliefs and how they influence a person’s mood and actions, and aims to change a person’s thinking to be more adaptive and healthy. Behavioral therapy focuses on a person’s actions and aims to change unhealthy behavior patterns.

Cognitive behavioral therapy has shown effectiveness in dealing with mild to moderate depression, according to the NIH website. In addition to therapy, severe depression may require medications, and bipolar disorder calls for a mood stabilizer.

Other therapies include dialectical behavior therapy, interpersonal therapy, family-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and light therapy. Art therapy, animal-assisted therapy, and play therapy also can be used in tandem with traditional forms.

Group therapy can be especially beneficial. When we feel depressed, it’s comforting to know we aren’t alone. Good friendships might form as a result of group therapy. From these numerous options, the client and doctor can determine the proper therapeutic approach, whether that is a singular form or a combination.

When we are in a depressive episode or a relapse, our thoughts are tinged with darkness. Everything appears cloudy. We tend to obsess on defeatist thoughts over and over again. In a manic episode, our thoughts can be clear and optimistic—until they’re no longer clear or optimistic. In other words, mania advances from mild through moderate and heads into chaotic. At that point, our thoughts no longer agree with reality. The same can be said for depressive thoughts: They’re not in agreement with reality. In either condition, we have no awareness of it at the time. For this reason, mental alchemy is the perfect tool to improve the quality of our thoughts. Mental alchemy has the capacity to ground us. It pulls us back to Earth into our “right mind” and allows us to exercise some control over our reality. Mental alchemy becomes more potent as we exercise the mental and emotional muscle. Doing simple and familiar exercises can assist the alchemical process. These include reading, writing, journaling, painting, sculpting, knitting, sewing, crocheting, making pottery, listening to or playing music, and other ways of expressing our feelings. All of these activities engage and calm the mind. The creative process helps us move beyond ourselves. These activities improve mood and increase our vibration, lifting us out of the darkness and into the light.

The following questions can provide powerful and revealing answers and help to determine if you are in a cycle of depression and need immediate help.

    • How did I get to this place in my life? This opens a wealth of possibilities to examine in writing. In fact, this could be the beginning of a memoir.
    • When did my depression begin? Using recall, write out your recollections of what triggered the depression.
    • What did it feel like when I was not depressed? This question helps to jog the memory. Recalling a “me” when depression was not your mind-set will help you believe that you can feel that way again.
    • When did the mania turn into depression? For those with manic depression (bipolar disorder), this involves analysis and memory.
    • What areas of my life do I want to address in therapy? Creating lists and planning for future therapy sessions can be helpful.
    • What goals do I want to include in my life? This question helps initiate the process of opening to a more empowered state of mind. Setting goals achieves this.
    • What am I willing to release in order to heal? This question involves in-depth examination. The answers might be alcohol, street drugs, or toxic relationships, to name a few possibilities.
    • What do I think would most help me heal? This could include proper medications, therapy, support, financial assistance, and so on.
    • What makes me happy? Asking this can lead to memories of feeling hopeful and expansive.
    • What makes me laugh? This also prompts recollections of joy and pleasure.
    • What touches my heart? The answer could be anything: an animal companion, a new baby, or a walk by the sea at sunset.
    • What do I want to do when I’m healed? This is like standing on top of a mountain and looking down the road to the future. What can be seen there? What can I look forward to?

In the beginning, it’s best to write for ourselves so we can express exactly what’s on our mind without worrying that others will judge us. If we live with others, especially a spouse or partner, we must insist on a certain level of privacy. Depression always creates distance from others, so writing is one area in which this distance can be advantageous.

Alicemarie help family members caring for and having their own lives disrupted by the challenges of this mental disorder.

First you must understand what it is like and Alicemarie describes it this way:

“My medication was an antipsychotic, although I didn’t have a diagnosis yet other than “brief psychotic episode.” By the time I was finally diagnosed as bipolar and started on lithium, I had plunged into a devastating depression that lasted more than six months. I had known depression throughout my young life, but nothing could have prepared me for this shift from an expansive, sensual world full of life and magic during the mania, to a dark, narrow, suffocating world during the depression. The transition happened overnight. It was drastic, debilitating, and frightening. I had suicidal thoughts constantly, believing my life was over. Would I even be missed? I did not believe anyone would feel the loss, because all my thoughts were depressed thoughts. My mind filled with that netherworld of darkness and despair.”

We thank you Alicemarie O’Neil author of The Formula Seven Steps to End Depression and for clearly concisely describing the conditions of depression manic depression and bi-polar depression offering excellent approaches to working with a serious and prevalent health issue that affects all segments of our society.

In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within we have offered listeners a clearer view and personal examination of the various stages and reactions when dealing with depression bi-polar disorder or manic episodes which may be exhibited Alicemarie O’Neill has clearly explained ways to find the help and projects that may create healing situations and lessen the effects or stigma associated with an often misunderstood yet quite common life challenge “depression”. Like any challenge it offers possibilities to know yourself the physical world and Universal Source in new ways that help to create a life seeking love and to find ways to connect to others in a more refined compassionate fashion aiding the soul to merge both spiritual and physical aspects of life and in doing so discovering gratitude joy kindness within and an appreciation of life beyond any illness or hardship.

As Alice Marie O’Neil wrote, “We are as much a part of nature as the roses, birds, trees, and tides. Depression deceives us into thinking we are separate from the rest of life. Yet, when we feel our connection to all living things, we find our greatest healing. Feeling this connection raises our vibration, and raising it is the key to raising our awareness and consciousness. Heightened awareness helps dissolve despair. Darkness has no hold in the presence of light.”

Alice Marie and Sheryl would have you remember who you are as a spiritual being having a physical life and for you to try to embrace the hope we have for finding ways to live in peace harmony balance and general well-being, no matter the health challenge we may have: for in the end, the only reality is our ability to shift and change ourselves into our best version of acceptance and surrender to all, for then we are free of pain fear worry and illusion. Our true nature is always love positivity and hope for a good day.

Welcome to “Healing From Within” with Sheryl Glick author of The Living Spirit Answers to Healing and Infinite Wisdom which shares stories of spiritual awakening spiritual communication healing energies miracles and ways to discover and utilize your intuitive wisdom for helping live life to its fullness. I am delighted to welcome Lee Mc Cormick a former valued guest and author of The Heart Reconnection Guide Book co-authored with Mary Falkner and Joan Boyarsenko Will Paegel Gary Seidler and Holly Cook as an effort to identify healing processes that might be helpful in creating a new paradigm for working with addiction and other traumatic conditions that prevent people from moving forward in their lives.

As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware Sheryl and her guests share intimate experiences and insights into the “seen and unseen” world of energy and life as we seek to discover more about the human and divine conditions that may help us to improve the quality of life: moving past fear restriction and pain to joy health and positivity. We explore the dual nature of life the heart and ego based realities, and find ways to return to unity wholeness or oneness, as we recognize our potential to thrive, not merely survive, the challenges of a physical life.

In today’s episode of Healing From Within with Lee Mc Cormick author of The Heart Reconnection Guide Book we discuss the way to refocus on the truth that has been obscured from earlier times and culture by technological advancements social media and the loss of intuition and our inner guidance system within the heart which can reveal so much awareness helping us leave behind the chaos of the mind and discover a series of new perspectives, understandings, questions, practices and meditations all centered in the heart that moves us toward clarity emotional freedom and self-acceptance. It is a part of ourselves that needs to be remembered and utilized to maneuver manage and successfully enjoy a physical life experience.

Lee tells us about some of the people who worked on The Heart Reconnection Guidebook and how the idea for it to be written by so many talented spiritualists healers and psychologists was created.

It started with a group of friends sitting around a table in Santa Fe New Mexico– experts in addiction recovery health sciences and the wisdom and native traditions of healing sharing their concerns about the low success rate of traditional addiction therapy. The goal was to identify healing processes that we knew from experience were the most helpful and by combining efforts, develop a new program and perhaps a paradigm for working with people who had addiction. Our goal expanded to include people who have experienced trauma or are struggling with any other condition that keep them from moving forward in their lives. We wanted more people to succeed and experience the freedom and joy that we know is on the other side of the struggle.

Some of the contributors to this book include: Mary Faulkner a writer and therapist and author of 8 books on spirituality and healing. Mary is the cofounder of Integrative Life Center and certifies counselors and health care professionals in Integrative Hypnotherapy for Transforming Trauma and Healing the Heart.

Joan Borysenko PhD is a pioneer in the integration of mind, body, and spirit. She is a licensed psychologist with a doctorate in cell biology from Harvard Medical School and author of 16 books. She is a world renowned expert in mind/body connection.

Will Taegel PhD walks in two dimensions. One reflects his lifelong connection with the Indigenous Mind/Heart and the other his psychological and scientific research. He counts his shamanic training described in his book Walking With Bears as the most important of his life.

Holly Cook is a licensed professional counselor and mental health service provider with more than 30 years of experience as a therapist program administrator, and international trainer..

Gary Seidler is the consulting executive editor to Counselor magazine a peer-reviewed journal for professionals in the mental health and addiction fields.

Lee tells us of the way we have moved past our natural connection to nature and all things of energy and spirit to a scientific material way of viewing all life and what has been lost as a result. In earlier times we lived close to the land and experienced the interrelatedness of nature. We understood ourselves through relationship with our clan or tribe. In these early cultures there was no concept of an individual separate from the whole: we drew our identity from the community. Our heart was wired for connection, relationships, the importance of place and sacred presence. Although our conscious mind has forgotten this, our heart remembers.

Lee writes, “From our earliest beginnings human beings have had a spiritual impulse: it’s been referred to as the “God gene.” We seek truth and meaning qualities that are found in sacred territory….Before we shifted from a mystical understanding of existence to a scientific one we knew that the earth was a living being and that the Great Mystery was present in the forces of nature and in the heart and soul of people. Indigenous cultures have always understood disease to be the result of an imbalance relationship. Balance is not static and always changing and to adjust to the forces of nature are key to maintaining a respectful kinship with all of life. The shift toward a scientific mechanistic worldview occurred over the course of hundreds of years reaching it’s peak in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Western culture’s interpretation of the universe shifted from heart centered to mind centered and our more logical less feeling less intuitive side became dominant. The problem therefore lies in the inability to see the connectedness of all things.”

We begin to realize we must reawaken the Wisdom of the heart. The heart is the first organ in the body to function It‘s beating even before the brain is formed. The heart instructs the mind in the ways of balance and right relations and the challenge lies in believing your heart and following its wisdom when you have to go up against generations of conditioning to do that. An awakened heart wants you back in touch with yourself. It wants you to believe in you. We disconnect from our heart for many reasons but in essence there is one theme in common: I’m not good enough as I am.” That though undermines everything you try to do and though a lie in this disconnection you continue with self-defeating behavior. Healingbegins the moment you return to your heart and remember that not feeling good about yourself is the only thing that’s not good enough.A new relationship with yourself others and all living creatures and with the earth is in order. The old metaphor of the earth as spirited and mechanical has given way to the reawakened memory harmony balance relationship and connection.

When we reconnect to the wildness of our heart our unconditioned selves it takes us beyond misidentifications beyond the self-limiting beliefs we have bought into and beyond the behaviors that do not reflect our truth. A quote by Walt Whitman expresses this clearly: Re—examine all you have been told at school, at church, or in any book, dismiss what insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem.

Healing takes on additional significance when it “Holds Space” means opening your heart trusting your intuition, claiming your power, letting go of judgment and staying present during your process of self-inquiry. Holding your truth while you listen to someone else’s truth is an art that develops as you become firmly reconnected to your own heart.

Lee when asked to comment on the fact that our great nation is very divided now due to the political parties very different mindsets and viewpoints and the media’s representation often through opinion and affiliations to groups and ideology describes how we can begin to bring greater peace and harmony through this web of anger even hatred, that we are seeing at the present time.

The more attached we are to the outer world and culture, the more uncomfortable we become and the greater the dis—ease or discomfort we have, the more likely we are to seek refuge from the feelings of not enough—not good enough, not smart enough, not cool enough, not pretty, thin or strong enough. When we add that on top of the dysfunctional nature of our collective culture—the anger, injustice constant judgment, prejudice, crime abuse, rape sexual abuse abandonment, rage victims mentality and resentment—is there any wonder we seek out ways to medicate our experience in the world? We make the ways of the world more important than the spirit of God’s creation as authentic human beings. Remember society clings to its desperate need to be “right” and we cling to our stories of right to remain a member in good standing of our family and community. All that aside, we can reclaim a life lived from our heart place, and know ourselves as good enough, and therefore reclaim faith in ourselves and above all, rekindle our relationship with spirit.

Sheryl says as we become more comfortable within our physical body, our soul energy is able to refine and renew itself and we are then evolving individually and collectively.

In Sheryl’s book The Living Spirit she addressed this new energy transformation in the following way, “Highly conscious human beings now and in the future are the templates for the evolution of humanity and for the creation of a finer state of harmony and balance. It will be in the sharing of our dynamic, beautiful, inspiring thoughts and in rethinking and reprogramming any limiting thoughts, that the shift will move many of us to a more productive level of purer thought and action. With great self-awareness and Cosmic awareness come a greater responsibility to share and exchange these ideas with those who will listen. When a person becomes aware of existing energies, emotions and the motivations for their own behaviors, they then can finally understand how to balance their own energy whether of the heart and soul or physical ego based reality.” P 101

We can reclaim our wholeness. A quote by Rumi clearly expresses the truth and reality of who we are and what we are capable of, “The universe is not outside of you. Look inside yourself, everything that you want, you already are.”

Lee and the other authors share a thought, “For thousands of years Western Culture has encouraged us to renounce the world and turn our gaze toward heaven as the good qualities of human nature are often attributed to God and the worst characteristics attributed to human nature. Somehow earth and the physical body became the “enemy” and we were forced to make an impossible choice between our human nature and the divine. This divisive thinking creates a feeling of separation of mind and spirit a separation that does not exist in creation. Reconnecting with our heart helps us remember who we are and what we came here to do. Learning to have a mind that is open to everything and attached to nothing allows us the freedom of our spirit or soul to appreciate investigate the world and our inner life with truth and honesty.”

They go on to share that it has been estimated that 90 percent of our behavior comes from our subconscious mind, the largely unfiltered reservoir of beliefs attitudes and behaviors of those around us. Most of our subconscious programming is written from birth to age seven. When those around us are open-minded we are free to question everything and create our own picture of reality. However when early programming is delivered in an overly authoritarian fearful way, we hesitate and hold back.

When childhood experiences are painful or problematic our core beliefs can be distorted or negative. When we understand that are beliefs may be distorted it puts back power into our hands. We can choose to discard beliefs that do not serve us and replace it with those that do and move forward with belief in our innate goodness and completeness. That is what allows for healing on a multi dimensional level: body mind and spirit.

Unfortunately most of us have not gone through the socialization and early childhood experiences without losing a bit of the natural vitality of our spirit or soul and as such are all wounded victims of mistakes by those often who love us but who do not realize that their fears are being transferred to very sensitive and impressionable children.

The nature of our heart is love and love has no past present or future, it simply is As our heart creates new beliefs borne out of love and respect for life our personal truth rewrites the old programs and lies and allows our natural curiosity to return so we can react with new feeling and be in a healed state going forward.

Lee describes the Spirit Connection and how he and all of us are connected to this beautiful energy of life. Life is a fabric of energy and light. From the strands of our levels of awareness feeling thought perception memory and identity. All these aspect that make us human beings are constantly interacting. Spirit refers to the very essence of life the active consciousness that flows throughout everything in the universe. Everything in the universe is a form of energy influenced by all levels of consciousness. When we become overly reliant on the voices of our culture we may lose conscious connection and the small still voice within falls silent.

We are spirit living as human: we are not the experiences we have here. Often we cling to trying to be right so we can have a place in the world. We spin truth to fit the situation. However none of that changes the essence of who we are at the center. We are born of the light of creation and we live in this physical world in our physical form until our body dies and our spirit returns to the light. Our value in the eyes of the creative force never changes only our quality of life and experience in this world changes as we take on stories and identities and behaviors as definitions of self.

Life as a human being is as amazing as it is complicated. We are beings of light, yet we have our body mind and emotions to contend with. We can be hurt, we can experience pain, we can heal, and we can be immensely joyful. We can do great things, and we can lose our way. At those times we forget who we are and we stop trusting in ourselves. We are disconnected and disoriented. Our confusing behaviors signal subtly or glaringly that we need help. We need a road map that can reconnect us to our heart and lead us back to truth. The medicine wheel is such a map.

Lee and Sheryl discuss transformation as a lifelong ability and task. Lee says we have an inborn ability to transform ourselves. We can replace harsh judgment with discernment. We can choose to be open to new information in light of what we know to be true. We can suspend prejudgment pending further investigation rather than automatically rejecting new ideas or being overly influenced by them. Guided by our own heart our brain builds new neural pathways to hold our discoveries. It is therefore far wiser to be alert and watchful than naïve and fearful.

Lee goes on to say, “There is nothing wrong with worldly riches position success or the pursuit of these things: thinking that the world is bad is outdated thinking. However living excessively and sometimes exclusively from material consciousness leaves us out of balance and at risk of becoming deaf to the wisdom of our own true self.

We know that In order to engage in the Heart’s Journey we need to understand how to let go of illusion. Lee says that spiritual teachers from every tradition agree that awakening to the true self begins with the question, “Who am I?” To answer that question begins the journey letting go of beliefs and illusions we have wrapped ourselves in and depending on Spirit. No matter the challenges and troubles you’ve encountered they have brought you to this moment in time at the exact place exactly how you are with life lessons learned through experience.

What we might consider a great life comes about through an alchemy of self-reflection, choices and how well we mind and direct our attention and practice. When we live in fear and suffering our attention tends to be hooked by emotions related to our suffering, such as sadness anxiety anger and doubt and these feeling tend to become old familiar companions in life.

Energetically we develop an appetite for the frequency of emotions that are familiar to us. People who experience rage have created an appetite for the energy of rage not unlike a drug in its frequency and false sense of empowerment. We tend to recreate what has become familiar to us. Even when what we experienced was miserable, it still feels safe to us. This is a cause and effect scenario as our mind runs an old story that’s possibly triggered by a current experience. The way past living in this destructive energy or pattern begins by paying attention and asking yourself questions. Awareness of where what and why we are giving attention to any thought belief or attitude is a great gift we can give ourselves. By the practice of attention we will awaken to our personal truth and greater opportunities to create a life we love waking up to each morning.

Like Albert Einstein once said, “Logic will get you from Point A to Point B but imagination will get you everywhere. Our mind and all its calculations can take us only so far. Imagination lives in our heart where there is a world of limitless possibilities at our disposal. Yet we tend to think of imagination as make-believe and trivialize it. We forget that there’s more to the process: we create what we imagine. Imagination is one of the great unsung heroes of healing and living a vibrant life.

Sheryl says, “Perhaps imagination is the quality of the soul to remember and know infinite life and the possibilities to create what we imagine or think of and where we invest our energy hopes dreams and efforts. So imagination is a connection to Higher Self and to Universal Source. It is the most effective connection to BEING and living in harmony with truth.”

Sheryl thanks Lee Mc Cormick author of The Heart Reconnection Guide Book for sharing a way to go within the mysteries of ancient philosophy and yearnings to know life and engage in a healing journey to reconnect to the personal power within that brings us closer to the wisdom of Universal Energy and to knowing ways to love ourselves back to wholeness and to create our best lives.

In summarizing today’s episode of “Healing From Within” we have discovered that healing is about creating something new out of something old, or a new perception of ourselves through self-investigation and a new awareness of past patterns and behaviors that may have affected our health and decision making process and also the choices we have made. We once again recognize that change is the only constant in life and rather than resist it, we may learn to embrace all experiences as the opportunities for further self-love and living with passion and joy. Perhaps knowing that the Universe is on our side rather than thinking nature and life are against us will be the beginning of a transformation towards a positive position encouraging thought and action that will help us rewire our thinking to create more of what is loving and good within us. Conquering our fears and misconceptions are the first step toward breathing and opening our heart to full expression of the Creative force that lives within us and that wishes us to have the most successful joyful life journey.

As Lee wrote, “When we reach a certain stage in our lives and realize that we no longer want to sacrifice what is most unique to us, we become more curious about shadow and our sincere investigation begins. Investigation can result in incredible opportunities we hadn’t thought were possible before. This is our stepping into possibilities, new choices and a new relationship to life. As we learn the back-story of our beliefs and choices, we learn that we can undo the agreements and beliefs that do not fit our reality. This is something the shadow is particularly good at. Honesty and willingness to step up bring clarity as our awareness expands.” (Pg. 83)

Lee and I and the other authors that Lee worked with would have you begin to know that the upper world is the realm of the spirit people, the angels and the masters. This realm is beyond what we know as judgment fear and insecurity, it is where we can see the big picture and infinity. It is the state of being we create as we let go of illusion and fear to find peace.

  • A DRAMATIC RESURGENCE OF FEMININE POWER AS IT MUST BE

Welcome to Healing From Within with your host Sheryl Glick Reiki Master Energy Teacher medium and author of A New Life Awaits Spirit Guided Insights to Support Global Awakening which shares a new path forward for those opening to the truth of our divine and physical duality so we may improve health prosperity and happiness through awareness and higher consciousness. Sheryl is delighted to welcome Anaiya Sophia a mystic author and teacher of kundalini yoga and author of Fierce Feminine Rising a passionate step by sage in step guide to comfort your spiritual anguish and dispel the helplessness of not knowing what to do. As listeners of Healing From Within are well aware Sheryl and her guests and share intimate experiences and insights into the metaphysical view of life while discovering we are spiritual beings having a physical life journey in order to refine relationships as well as our awareness to know the possibilities available for us to create with our thoughts purposeful and dynamic happy healthy lives. Through experience we refine both our human and divine capabilities to love and develop greater love for all life.

In today’s episode of “Healing from Within” we will be encouraged to feel the call of the “Fierce Feminine” to embrace our sacred mission and allow ourselves to rebalance the powers that govern the planet as well as harmonize our minds. After millennia of suppression the Fierce Feminine or Dark Mother is making a dramatic resurgence to express universal outrage in order to set things right in their own lives and seek justice for those who can’t defend themselves. We will find that when we allow the justice of the Fierce Feminine to flow within us, we each become an active participant in creating needed change. We will discuss the collective spiritual uprising and discuss practices from Eastern tradition to heal from predatory relationships and gain access to ancient wisdom within the untapped portion of the female brain to deal with sorrow or anger.

We define fierce femininity and the qualities of fierce femininity The Fierce Feminine or Dark Mother is not a person but instead our universal individual and collective expressed outrage. She is rising collectively now, especially within women and has a unique and individual expression for each of us. We must allow her to authentically arise and acceptance of her truth is only given in authentic surrender. It requires to be in the moment as is humanly possible and to reach for new words and ways to transmit knowledge that comes from an unused part of the feminine brain which She calls “primordial wisdom. Primordial Wisdom does not require learning, only living. It is our inner compass for what lies ahead

Anaiya tells us she is using the seven forces of creation to lie the template upon. The seven forces are encoded into our psychospiritual bodies known as our chakra system. She is imbuing our centers of power with her own and birthing a new vocabulary that is laden with catalyzing codes that start to take shape and form and will eventually be spoken. From What she understands the Fierce Feminine’s mission is twofold. She intends to address and rebalance the powers that govern the planet making sure every inhabitant has the right to thrive and the equilibrium is maintained but also she will apply the same rigorous methods to fully balance and harmonize our minds. FINALLY we will not be the spectators of this massive global cleanup campaign but participants ourselves.

Perhaps the most powerful thing a woman can do is to understand there is an innate predator and killer in psyche. A psychic force that cannot be changed or rehabilitated. The challenge with all archetypal energies is to learn how to relate to them without being overtaken. For the feminine psyche, which always wants to connect and relate, this anti-life force is probably difficult to come to terms with.

It may also be important to understand that fairy tales are simple and pure expressions of the collective unconscious and offer a clear understanding of universal patterns in the human psyche. Just like a dream, a fairy tale is not to be taken literally. It depicts the dance and the dynamics between the masculine and the feminine, as they manifest in the collective as well as the individual Both dreams and fairy tales can be a roadmap to discern for the princess to get her prince and for the union of opposites and the sacred marriage of the masculine and feminine within one’s soul. Women must be wise and learn to avoid all forms of excessive and repetitive emotionally abusive behavior. The emotionally abusive person is often a pathological narcissist unwilling/unable to genuinely feel for anyone including themselves. Because they are disconnected from a nourishing center in their psyche, they always put themselves and their ego into the center of the lonely universe Their alienation from the Source forces the pathological narcissist to take more and more drastic measures. That often leaves a trail of blood and corpses sometimes symbolically sometimes literally. Remember the story of Bluebeard. The Fierce Feminine encourages women that she must not get lost in denials or pretending the problem doesn’t exist. When she sees, she knows and there is no turning back….Our willingness and strength to face the truth are activating positive masculine energies in us, which manifest our ability to sever the ties to abusive relationships.

We must think about what the world need most right now. We must understand the Dark Agenda otherwise known as the Matrix Control System. This includes corrupt governments the war-making industries, the overproducing, mind-numbing addiction feeding, heartlessness of our modern day society as well as the covert influences of anti-awakening that seem to since World War 1. From that time, the families, or rather the bloodlines, started to work together as a cartel to dominate the world economy and prevent the full realization of our spiritual and abundant nature. We are at a very dangerous moment in human history. The Fierce Feminine is giving us the last change to flush our the patriarchal contamination from our minds. The journey will be scary but supported and sacred activism is called for.

In order to reclaim your feminine power you might remember yourself as a child perhaps shy often alone and eager to please. And then remember trying to fit into a world of fence sitting watching viewers of wrong doing and knowing there was something more you needed to do and trying to feel the NO inside but not daring to scream it out.. Remember that fighting the good fight was not allowed. Then remember an event a divorce a mystical dream a loss of a parent and how the remembrance of I AM made a reappearance in your life and how your soul destiny was reignited and the values beliefs and dreams of the past faded into insignificance. Remember when you began to prepare for a possible new future for yourself and the planet.

Sheryl says she was guided to becoming a Reiki Master Teacher and medium and then began to write about the power of the soul to remember its potential to thrive heal and spread the truth of love and compassion by sharing what was “always within” but had been hidden by the fears of the physical world of competition and survival.

We began to understand we need to stand our ground Anaiya writes, “There is a sickness within humanity today, a deep suppression of our interconnectivity as the powers that be or Dark Agenda continually attempt to segregate separate and stagnate our natural tendencies to share and pass on our wisdom. We must get connected to the causes and concerns that break our hearts wide open. We can no longer waste time.”

Several main obstacles might stand in the way of accessing this power. Materialism and social media as well as wasting energy on mindless sex that is goal oriented or plugged into the pornographic world and other addictions that make us unable to see or care about what is going on around us are a distraction to our real purpose for having a physical life in the first place that is really supposed to help us refine our eternal soul energy and develop greater love and compassion for all living things.. WE need to look at poor choices and feelings of entitlement and scream out NO more!

Accountability integrity and honor are the qualities that smash the doctrines of the Dark Agenda enabling us to see there are right and wrong actions in the world and we must be willing to be one who steps into right living and right action

Sheryl shares an excerpt from her new book in the trilogy, A New Life Awaits that seems to support the idea we must draw on our past values and interests to achieve rightful living and Sheryl writes,” Now, we must continue to work with all aspects of our physical and spiritual lives, to heal and create a world that offers hope in the face of personal or collective hardships, that may make us forget our divinity and ability to live with dignity. If we begin to do what feels right from within, without judging issues as good or bad, only as experiences, we will free ourselves from the many illusions or ideologies that still hold us prisoners to fear and the limitations of our conditioned minds and lift these challenging times to new heights for advanced human evolution.

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing there is a field. I’ll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about.” -RUMI Page

Men can access a fierce feminine power. Wouldn’t the world be better if men and women can realize that we each have both energies male and female and merging them together creates the most successful blend of awareness to achieve miracles Perhaps, they could better use their energies and spiritual gifts in the physical world if they were aware of the actual reality of their being. Anaiya writes, “ This terrestrial human world is constantly invaded by the forces of the neighboring world, that is of the vital world, the subtler region beyond the Earth’s atmosphere and our five senses. This vital world is constantly penetrating the physical world and is much more subtle, It’s often quiets imperceptible except to a few rare individual. There are entities, beings, wills, and various types of individualities in that world who have all kinds of intentions and make use of every opportunity to either amuse themselves, if they are small beings, or to do harm and create disorder if they are beings with a greater capacity. We have tamed ourselves, kept ourselves small, and often ignored our pure knowledge for fear of being harmed, judged tortured shamed and killed because of it. No wonder it is so hard to trust in ourselves again. But that is exactly what must be done now.

Anaiya is asked what her cause is and what is the thing that most breaks her heart. She believes we are currently in a global dark night of the soul She thinks back to the 2018 movie Mary Magdalene where we get to see Mary truly standing as the embodiment of the first witness of the resurrection. In the biblical texts we are lead to believe this was a chance meeting by a grieving Mary who was sobbing outside Yeshua’s tomb. But that is not the story that lives in Anaiya’s heart. She believes Yeshua stated that it would be Mary that not only observed the transformation but absorbed it. Mary absorbed the passion of a human becoming Divine: Yeshua becoming Christ. And this is what the sense of the role of the feminine could be in the global dark night of the soul. We can be conscious and willing to soak up the despair of the world as an active witness and this can be the transforming catalyst that enables a global transfiguration. Anaiya sees this with Mary Magdalene, a woman willing and able to birth her beloved into Divinity with all the pain, suffering, ectasy and glory that goes with giving birth in physical form. However, for women now in this time and place it may not be a man but the world that must rise to its divine level of humanity.

There is the difference between a fierce feminine and a nasty woman. We must realize that by speaking the voice of the Fierce Feminine and striking at the nervous system of those holding old positions of power or false goodness we initiate things we never would have dreamt of before. The way to know if it is the power of the Feminine Divine or personal anger looking for a fight is when we speak and act it will have little to do with our own personal gain. It will be on behalf of others. It will be a clean energy and while protecting our own light we will feel in our hearts that we are doing the right thing. There will be an upsurge of courageous goodness. There is only truth. The Fierce Feminine is working in realms where physical brawling is a thing of the past. We will know without thought a swift and direct action voice or response emerges. We will most likely be met by resistance and angry accusations from those that we challenge…We must remember it’s not so much a person that opposes us, but a system deeply enmeshed and living alongside old values, old beliefs and old ideas.

    The Fierce Feminine is:

    Showing courage
    Seeking truth
Acting on behalf of the innocent and undefended
Responding effectively being willing to speak up and speak out
Protecting your Light and the Light of others
    Taking a stand
Being fully aware of the visible and invisible situation
Inwardly praying for true alignment and blessings for the situation
Walking away feeling you acted on Her Behalf
Feeling restored and recalibrated by your action.
What is not the Fierce Feminine?
    Displaying false bravado Telling Lies
Acting From self-interest and personal gain
    Reacting and causing a scene
Employing passive tactics to coerce, blame and attack.
    Attacking the Light of others
    Being defiant and stubborn
Losing awareness of the whole situation.
    Inwardly building more aggression
    Walking away
    Plotting another attack
Feeling restless and agitated by your actions

Anaiya might want readers to trust their intuition and surrender the masculine minds and its insistent need for proof logic and clear thinking instead delving into the animal nature of your being so you can explore and observe everything. Everything you need to know is within you. WE must trust our intuition and see things as they really are. As Anaiya says cultivating an awakening process must be treated with reverence and care. The great work of the Soul is to gather experience and to allow accept surrender to the natural universal plan of evolution.

We thank Anaiya Sophia author of Fierce Feminine Rising for offering much needed perspective advice and a bevy of tools for channeling the righteous energy and sacred rage of the Divine Feminine which when understood and practiced will be for the greater good of humanity. Read this book to learn about a power that has the chance to rebalance the powers that govern the planet as well as harmonize our minds.

In summarizing today’s episode of Healing From Within we have had a most unusual and unique view into the sacred world of our Feminine Rising ability to connect to the instincts and remembrances of our divine nature that helps us to see the natural world, the animal kingdom the flora and fauna, the rivers mountains forests and deserts and the delicate ways we interact and depend on each other. We have seen the matrix—the artificial world of control fear otherworldly experiences war and oppression which seeks to dim the beauty of life from our vision.

We have explored not to oppose the Dark Agenda but to bring ourselves and our world into balance with nature or physical life. The Dark Agenda that attempts to segregate, separate, and stagnate our natural tendencies to share and pass on our wisdom as well as a deep suppression of our interconnectivity which allows us to find our natural tendencies to share and pass on our wisdom when understood can be overcome and lead to restoring ourselves and our planet.

We have learned there is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path. We have seen the dark night of the soul that can emerge dues to a number of challenging events like a terminal health diagnosis, old age, a near-death experience, a physical accident, loss of a loved one, a home, a job, of religious faith any of which can lead you to know you can’t go on living the way you have been. And these events can lead to amazing transformations for the betterment of humanity as we see now in the many global challenges facing all humanity.

Anaiya and I would have you know that the trust that was lost possibly by childhood traumas or disappointments and any betrayal we may still think about, can we healed and help us to establish a more loving journey and way forward. As Anaiya shares a quote from Khalil Gibran that I enjoyed Gibran wrote…..”Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls: the most massive characters are seared with scars.” We remind you to know that experiences may not be judged good or bad- just experiences, and they are provided by your soul life plan and destiny to create an energy that grows and lives in an expanded way eternally.

  • YOGA, HOLISTIC DETOX TECHNIQUES FOR HEALTH AND WELL BEING AND MORE

Welcome to “Healing From Within.” I am your host Sheryl Glick author of The Living Spirit: Answers for Healing and Infinite Love which shares stories of awakening, spiritual communication, healing energies, miracles and ways to know intuition for higher awareness and consciousness. Today I welcome Swami Saradananda author of The Cleansing Power of Yoga which explains how removing stuck energy can have not just far-reaching physical benefits but also emotional and spiritual ones from increased clarity vitality and focus to a more interconnected relationship with the people and world around you

As listeners of “Healing From Within” are well aware Sheryl and her guests share intimate experiences and insights into increasing our understanding of both our physical and energetic life force so we may begin to create lives of balance, health, prosperity, improve ourselves and the human world condition.

In today’s episode of “Healing from Within” Swami Saradananda will share her life time study of eastern healing modalities and discuss the importance of yoga understanding Ayurveda medicine, dosha energies along with dietary and exercise programs, and meditation practices to realize our soul needs to refine, rebalance and restore our physical and energetic life force. As we discover yoga poses, visualizations, mudras, meditations and other specific cleansing exercises, explained step by step in this book we may enhance each of the five senses and our mind.

When asked to think back to her childhood or earlier life and remember a person place event that may have shown them or others around them the possible pathway or lifestyle they might live as an adult we often discover our life purpose. In Swami’s case she became interested in Eastern healing philosophy, techniques, yoga and the study of the chakra system to encourage a healthy life style. She remembers having polio as a child and her parents were told by the doctor she wouldn’t be able to walk, but her parents didn’t tell her, and she continued to improve, because that thought wasn’t imprinted on her mind. She thought and worked towards health, not sickness, which is exactly the right way. We have the responsibility to work with any health challenge and choosing positive approaches is a great way to succeed. Our thoughts determine much that comes into creation in our lives. Never buy into the expectations of others, but choose your own direction.

Swami remembers being in Florida in 1967 and when looking in the newspaper discovered a yoga class which she joined and there she met her spiritual teacher who she studied with for the next twenty years. Often when the time is right, the teacher or situation appears that opens our mind or connection to Universal energy and our etheric or soul destiny, and we find the skills, talent and desires of our heart to enhance our life journey.

Swami offers a specific way to utilize her book The Cleansing Power of Yoga and other spiritual books. Often, if you ask for help on a certain issue and then open the book randomly you will find helpful information or suggestions for that moment in time. The best way to read this book is to dip in regularly and try out whichever practices appeal to you, rather than feeling you need to read it from cover to cover. Chapters 1-6 focus on ways to cleanse the five senses and the mind offering ways to purify them literally, mentally, spiritually, and working on the chakra related sense. There are chapters on clarifying your vision as well as your third eye or inner way of seeing or knowing, enhancing your communication by unblocking your throat chakra, breathing more deeply to cleanse your respiratory system as well as your muladhara (root chakra) which controls your sense of smell, nourishing yourself based on plant foods that calm the mind and reduce the negative effects of a stressful lifestyle and of course strengthening your connection with others where life tends to “touch ” or inspire you at the heart chakra.

Swami describes Ayurvedic Constitutions which are necessary for understanding balance and physical health. Cleansing techniques are found in many therapeutic approaches such as reflexology and kinesiology, but in order to understand how yogic cleansing works, it is helpful to have a basic knowledge of how Ayurveda the best known traditional healing system of India which perceives the body and mind. Much of the basic philosophy is shared with yoga. Ayurveda is a medical system in which treatments are prescribed by a doctor and massage is given by therapists. Ayurveda recognizes three basic types of physical and mental make-up “These three constitutions known as doshas are composed of three energetic types; vata kapha pitta. Ayurveda medicine places great emphasis on keeping them in balance. Many factors internal and external can disturb the balance of one or more of the doshas. Cleansing yoga practices are a powerful way to counteract many negative influences on your constitution.

Swamu shows us how to set up a cleansing intention known as a Sankalpa and how this technique will begin to help us. A sample Sankalpa she gives to begin with is: This week I will do Neti each morning after brushing my teeth. Then I will do 3 rounds of Kapalabhati, 10 rounds of Alternate Nostril Breathing before sitting for 20 minutes for heart-cleansing meditation. Then I will write in my journal for 10 minutes.

Cleansing Throughout The Day is recommended and the following are some ways to help detox, declutter, and clear your mind.

Clear your desk kitchen and work space before leaving it.

Purify your air by ventilating rooms, changing air filters and using natural furnishings.

Raise indoor plants to cleanse the air and amplify the concentration of prana.

Select wisely from all the food, emotion and thought options available to you.

Eat more organic and locally grown foods. Remove one potentially negative item from your diet noticing the effects.

Decrease alcohol consummation if you drink and take steps to quit.

Try not to gossip or spread negative opinions and judgments.

Resolve to say what you mean in a non-hurtful a way as possible.

Try to be aware of emotions and ideas you tend to sweep under the carpet.

Enjoy a period of introspection in the evening and ask yourself how transparent your communications were during the day. When home alone do not turn on the TV or music: enjoy the purity of silence for at least an hour each day.

Notice how your thoughts and emotions are disturbed by violent conflict in the media. Take a regular yoga class and practice at home to increase the benefits of all the cleansing techniques in the book.

In order to care for ourselves we must take care of all parts of our bodies. Swami discusses how exercising the eyes helps to clear away the negative effects of daily stress strain ad environmental toxins such as intense artificial lights.

The first series of exercises increases circulation to the eyes and warms up the muscles around them.

    1. Up and down Open your eyes wide: imagine popping them out of your head keeping your head and neck up and look as high up as you can, then down. Repeat 10-15 times. Then close eyes and relax
    2. Right and Left. Raise your left arm thumb pointing up. Slowly move your hand to the left and follow with the eye. Then Change arms and do the right eyes.
    3. Diagonal Making gentle fists straightening elbow raise right arm thumb up and lower left thumb slightly out. Look up at your right and then diagonally at left arm and thumb. Change arms and repeat.

Practice Tips include the removal of glasses and contact lens, performing all the movements slowly and gently, trying to move just your eyes not your head and if your eyes start to water while practicing count it as an especially successful cleanse.

Bathing the Eyes…Cleaning the eyes is a useful antidote to the drying effects of central heating and air conditioning and spending hours at a screen which can cause tear ducts to become congested. Some ophthalmologists recommend a few drops of well dilute tearless baby shampoo to clear debris from the tear ducts and combat dry eyes and eyelid disorders like inflammation.

Rejuvenating eye compress of a little castor oil heated ghee or honey a face cloth and an old towel. Lie on a towel and place the dipped cloth over your closed eyes for 20 minutes.

Swami and Sheryl discuss how during these challenging modern times with communication issues complicated by social media and lack of purity of speech we must find ways to improve the quality of our spoken words and seeking Purity of Speech

Adhering to the truth—known as Satya in Sanskrit—is one of the basic tenets of yoga- is about making a conscious effort to speak the truth and make sure your words as well as your thoughts and deed are clean, authentic and respectful. This purifies the mind, strengthens inner resolve and attracts positive energy. Expressing feeling in a negative way-even if we don’t mean the words we say—tend to draw us away from this state of inner peace and activated distressing energy that flows to the heart and brow chakras and out into our environment. The way we speak creates vibrations that not only affect us, but everyone we come in contact with—so cultivating purity of speech encourages us to develop more harmonious relationships with the world around us.

    1. Begin by watching yourself for a few days just as you are.
    2. Set a practice intention or sankalpa, a positive statement that states exactly what you want to do.
    3. Now create an affirmation , a suggestion to repeat to help change your negative speech patterns into a more positive ones. Avoid phrases such as: try to, if possible, should and platitudes like, “be more peaceful.”
    4. Then just be a silent witness. Notice how with regular steady practice your language and speech patterns become more positive and compassionate.

Swami goes on to describe Voluntary Silence -Mouna is necessary for giving yourself some quiet time each day when you are not distracted by a noisy environment or goal oriented task. As you decrease the external noise you make, note the busyness of your internal environment. In the beginning thoughts may arise encouraging you to break your silence old worries, troubling emotions an urgent call you need to make. Do not allow yourself to become involved. Watch the thoughts as if they were bubbles, which soon pop or float away. Your anxieties will gradually lessen.

    Practice Tips

Try to observe a period of silence every day –an hour is ideal

Practice yoga poses or breathing exercises, walking or simple manual work during your periods of silence

Do not listen to music watch television or read engage in fast exercise or do anything that requires intellectual focus when silent

Try eating one meal a week in full silence-notice the positive effects on your digestion

Before speaking “edit” your words. Say only what is required and truthful

We know that the Breathe is a vital component of optimizing energy and enjoying life. Yoga puts especially great emphasis on purifying the respiratory system the body structure that begins with the nose and relates to your sense of smell. Breathing exercises can encourage stronger lungs, clearer skin and a calmer more transparent mind.

It seems important or advantageous to simplify our lives and make space for happiness, How can we begin to do that? You have a quote by the Buddha that says, “We are shaped by our thoughts, we become what we think.

You wrote, “When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.”When the mind becomes more firm and strong as you engage in the purifying practices you may notice that you have increased self-control, feel less distracted by the sensory world and are more aware of your inner self, which is peaceful vibrant and content.

Most people confuse the brain and mind. The brain is in your physical body, but your mind is more subtle, existing in what yogis refer to as the astral or energy body. Perhaps the best definition of the mind is a bundle of thoughts. However, your mind is a living thing that wants to stay alive and will strongly resist extinction.

Your mind is much more powerful than you realize and when it is scattered you lose energy, making it difficult to realize your true potential. You can clean your space to clear your mind. Decluttering your space and creating a cleaner space with plants and light or burning incense and smudging herbs is helpful.

Sheryl thanks Swami Saradananda for writing a most comprehensive book of practical exercises, beautiful pictures, and an understanding of energy healing Ayurveda

Medicine, yoga, and the ways to know our astral body and how to protect and enhance our natural energy systems for a healthy physical life experience.

In summarizing this episode of “Healing From Within” we have explored the world of energy or prana which surrounds and energizes the physical body, and which animates our physical life, though it is not a physical energy nor made up of physical elements. Prana flows through the subtle channel known as nadis and is referred to as meridians in acupuncture, and make up the subtle wiring system of your astral body. Any major place where major nadis cross is referred to as a chakra. We have learned in today’s discussion how to purify and help the main energy points or chakras with simple techniques, and a practice that can improve our physical emotional and spiritual lives.

Swami writes, “ Acting as the interface between your physical body and its etheric double the pranamaya kosha chakras can be thought of as multi-dimensional balls of radiant energy. As each chakra vibrates at a different rate, its cleaning takes a different form. ‘’ Our body and life force is interconnected to energy and to each other and learning about healing techniques is the key to knowing oneself in our miraculous and eternal form.”

Swami and I would have you care for yourself, body mind and spirit, and learn to love yourself and life, moving through challenges and concerns, by nourishing the body and mind, and finding peace, calmness, and love, which is indeed your birthright as a soul.
