  • High-Profile Attorneys Represent Court Clerk Accused of Jury Tampering in Alex Murdaugh Trial
Rebecca "Becky" Hill, the court clerk accused of tampering with the jury in the Alex Murdaugh double murder trial, has hired two high-profile attorneys, including State Rep Justin Bamberg and former assistant US attorney Will Lewis, to represent her. The allegations against Hill, detailed in a motion by Alex Murdaugh's defense team seeking a new trial, claim that she interfered with the jury due to a desire for fame and a book deal. The motion accuses Hill of misconduct, including one-on-one conversations with jurors, delaying cigarette breaks for smokers, and providing jurors with reporters' business cards. If these allegations are proven true, it could potentially lead to a new trial for Murdaugh. An evidentiary hearing is expected to take place to examine the evidence. As of now, Hill does not face any criminal charges.

  • Reading Of Alex Murdaugh Motion For New Trial Part 2
Rebecca Hill, an elected clerk of the court, now stands accused of egregious misconduct during a high-profile trial. Could the pursuit of fame have compromised justice? The renowned "Murder In the Morning" podcast dives deep, unearthing shocking details.

In a recent episode of the popular podcast "Murder In the Morning", hosts Tony Brueski and Stacy Cole pulled back the curtain on a scandal that's shaken the very foundation of the legal system. As they unraveled the web of allegations against Rebecca Hill, the implications for the trial in question - and the justice system at large - became disturbingly clear.

"When the jury began deliberating that evening, Ms. Hill told them this shouldn't take us long," Brueski recollected. Hill's subtle coercion of the jury, hinting at a hastened deliberation process, raised immediate red flags for the hosts. "It's almost kind of a veiled threat," Brueski commented, likening it to a passive-aggressive tactic to pressure the jury.

Moreover, Hill's authoritative stance didn't just end there. Throughout the six-week trial, the smokers in the jury had the liberty to take their regular smoke breaks. However, Hill, in a sudden turn, declared they couldn't until a decision was reached. Cole reacted with disbelief, comparing it to telling a child they cannot leave the table without finishing dinner.

Yet, the discussion reached its pinnacle when Brueski revealed Hill's actions that extended beyond the courtroom. She seemed to be grooming the jury for fame post-trial, even going so far as to distribute reporters' business cards. One juror, described as Juror #578, took these insinuations to heart, appearing on "Good Morning America" shortly after the verdict was declared.

"Ms. Hill told jurors that after the trial they would be famous and predict that the media would request interviews with them," Cole stated. The promise of media attention clearly had an effect, evident from the unusually formal attire of the previously mentioned juror. The anticipation of a spotlight may have unconsciously biased the juror's deliberations.

Stacy Cole further delved into the post-verdict scenario, noting Hill's persistent efforts to keep the spotlight burning. Following the verdict, Hill not only convinced the jurors to speak en masse to a network news show but also accompanied them. "She got her book deal," Cole revealed with a tinge of sarcasm. Hill's book, "Behind the Doors of Justice", although dubbed a "book deal", was independently published.

In an intriguing segment of their discussion, the podcast hosts touched upon Hill's attempts to gain both financially and in terms of publicity from a documentary. A film crew, scheduled to record at the Colton County Courthouse, had their contract unexpectedly revised by Hill post her interview. Tony Brueski detailed the addendum, which bizarrely demanded promotional airtime for her book and a fee from the crew. "She's trying to negotiate... in a very 'I've never done this before in my life' way," Brueski observed.

However, the most damning piece of evidence might just be Hill's own book. Brueski mentioned that the court now possesses ample evidence, including juror affidavits, their interviews, and details from Hill's publication. The revelations point toward a significant possibility of misconduct, which, if proven, may lead to a retrial.

Towards the end of their conversation, both hosts indulged in a bit of speculative fun, guessing when the next trial might be. "I'm gonna go with fall of 2024," wagered Brueski, while Cole optimistically predicted spring, particularly March of the same year.

Cole wrapped up the episode with a somber reflection, "These processes are not fast at all... there's a lot of motions that need to be filed... but who knows?"

In the wake of this episode, the true weight of the allegations against Rebecca Hill has resonated with many. The justice system is built on trust, and when individuals in positions of power show signs of compromising that trust, the ramifications are profound. As Tony Brueski and Stacy Cole highlighted, the pursuit of personal gains and fame can pose a real threat to the core tenets of justice.

As followers of the trial and podcast listeners await further developments, one thing remains certain: transparency and integrity are paramount, and they must be upheld even in the face of scandal.

  • Reading Of Alex Murdaugh Motion for New Trial Part 1
Recent episodes of the riveting podcast "Murder in the Morning" with Tony Brueski and Stacy Cole have delved deep into the shocking developments surrounding the Alec Murdaugh case. With claims of jury tampering, concealed evidence, and a trial filled with twists and turns, the latest revelations may just turn the entire case on its head.

The Alec Murdaugh Scandal: Behind the Curtains of Justice

In the aftermath of the six-week trial that concluded on March 2nd, 2023, the Murdaugh case seemed relatively straightforward. Yet, recent episodes of "Murder in the Morning" reveal a web of deceit that casts shadows on the integrity of the judicial process. Hosts Tony Brueski and Stacy Cole shared damning evidence that suggests potential misconduct and bias in the courtroom.

"The defense began its case on Friday, February 17th, 2023," Brueski stated, highlighting the timeline of events. Curiously, the court was not held on February 20th, due to President's Day, and that's when things began to get murky. "After returning from the holiday, Ms. Hill began to enter the jury rooms often," Brueski continued, emphasizing the odd behavior of a key player in the trial.

Stacy Cole, in her signature analytical style, commented on the alleged influence of Ms. Hill on the jury, "As the defense began its case, Ms. Hill told jurors, y'all are gonna hear things that will throw you off. Don't let this distract you or mislead you." This, she mentioned, was confirmed by an affidavit from Holly Miller, a juror. Furthermore, the relationship between Ms. Hill and juror number 286, the new jury foreperson, raised eyebrows. The two were reportedly having private conversations, the content of which was never shared with other jurors.

One of the most chilling comments made by Brueski revolved around Alec Murdaugh's testimony: "Right before Alec went to take the stand, she goes to the jurors and says not to be fooled by the evidence Mr. Murtaugh's attorneys presented," a move that he called "fucking damning." This stark revelation was followed by another, where Ms. Hill allegedly instructed jurors to meticulously observe Murdaugh, indirectly implying his guilt.

But what was perhaps the most shocking twist of all was the discovery of a Facebook post. Ms. Hill claimed to have seen a post by Tim Stone, ex-husband of juror number 785, stating his ex-wife's alleged verdict intentions. "She could not produce a copy," said Cole, adding that a supposed apology post followed it. Yet, after investigations, it was found that the real Tim Stone never made such a post. The genuine post was made by an unrelated individual also named Tim Stone, leading to a grave misidentification.

The hosts didn't shy away from criticizing the evident misconduct in the trial. "He may be guilty as shit, but you can't run a trial like this. Not in America," Brueski passionately voiced, emphasizing the sanctity of the judicial process. Cole concurred, underscoring the importance of principles in the justice system, "Despite all the things that go wrong in our legal system... if we know for a fact that someone is tainting this and purposely trying to change verdicts, it needs to be redone."

The sheer gravity of the allegations has led many to question the validity of the entire trial, and whether Alec Murdaugh was indeed served justice. As the hosts of "Murder in the Morning" concluded their discussion, listeners were left with more questions than answers. Brueski aptly summed it up, "This is about the rule of law and how we function and what we say is right and what is wrong."

As this legal rollercoaster continues to unfold, listeners eagerly await the next episode, where Brueski and Cole will undoubtedly delve deeper into the shadowy corners of this perplexing case. Whatever the outcome, the revelations have firmly positioned the Murdaugh case in the annals of America's most controversial trials.

  • Lori Vallow Daybell's Legal Team Appeals for Idaho Supreme Court Review
Following the life imprisonment sentence handed down in July, Lori Vallow Daybell's defense is not standing down. Her attorney, Jim Archibald, recently filed an appeal, imploring the Idaho Supreme Court to reevaluate her case, the guilty verdict, and the pronounced sentence.

Lori Vallow Daybell was handed a life imprisonment verdict, without the possibility of parole, for the heinous act of killing her two children, 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan. The charges further expanded to a conspiracy plot to murder Tammy Daybell, the previous wife of her fifth husband.

Detailed in the notice of appeal presented on Thursday, Archibald delineated 16 significant issues he believes warrant the Supreme Court's attention:

The pivotal question of whether District Judge Steven Boyce made an error in pronouncing Daybell fit for trial, despite her spending a considerable 10 months in a mental institution.
The contentious decision of Judge Boyce to decline Archibald’s appeal to send Daybell back to the mental institution for further evaluation, instead of proceeding to trial.
Archibald also raises concerns about Daybell's constitutional rights to a speedy trial potentially being violated, particularly due to the prosecutor's numerous requests for postponements.
Another point of contention is whether Judge Boyce erred in permitting the presentation of evidence from the ongoing Arizona case. This case concerns the alleged crimes surrounding the death of Charles Vallow, Daybell's fourth husband, and the purported attempted murder of Brandon Boudreaux, previously married into Daybell's family.
The appeal also questions the discretion of Judge Boyce regarding Daybell’s sentence—three consecutive life terms without parole.
The court's decision ordering Daybell to pay a whopping $165,018 in fines and court charges, despite her evident indigence and dependence on public defense, is also under scrutiny.
Furthermore, Archibald has tabled a request for the appointment of appellate public defenders to oversee the appeal segment of Daybell's case.

It is customary for felony convictions, particularly those involving murder charges, to be appealed. Such appeals must be presented within 42 days of the sentencing. Preparations are now underway for the Supreme Court to receive a transcript of Daybell's trial. Archibald, being meticulous in his pursuit of justice for his client, is also in the process of acquiring transcripts from Daybell’s previous competency evaluations, the preliminary hearings leading up to the trial, and the sentencing proceedings.

However, this appellate process is notorious for its lengthy duration, often spanning several years. In the upcoming phase, the Idaho attorney general will assign a representative for the prosecution. This attorney, in tandem with the defense's appellate lawyer, will draft written briefs. It is also anticipated that both parties will present oral arguments before the state Supreme Court finalizes its judgment.

There's a potential hiccup in Daybell's appellate case trajectory. The state of Arizona is gearing up to extradite her, pressing charges of conspiracy to commit Charles Vallow’s murder and the alleged attempt on Brandon Boudreaux’s life. Barely a month has passed since Daybell's confinement in the Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center. Meanwhile, the trial of Chad Daybell, Lori's husband, is on the horizon, set to commence on April 1 in Ada County.

While the wheels of justice are in motion, this case serves as a reminder of the intricate dance between the justice system, victims' rights, and the accused's rights. The outcome of this appeal, especially given its high-profile nature, will be closely watched by many across the state and the nation.

  • What Was The Clerk Of Court In Murdaugh Trial Thinking?
Alex Murdaugh, a once-reputed South Carolina lawyer, recently convicted for the murders of his wife and son, is vying to have his conviction overturned. New legal documents submitted by his defense team suggest that there was jury tampering orchestrated by the local clerk of court.

Murdaugh, aged 55, was handed two life sentences this March following the tragic 2021 killings of his wife, Maggie, 52, and son, Paul, 22. But the tale took a twist as his attorneys swiftly filed an appeal against his convictions. At the heart of this appeal lies the accusation directed at Rebecca Hill, the Colleton County Clerk of Court. The defense attorneys, Richard Harpootlian and James Griffin, have put forth allegations stating that Hill manipulated the jury. She's accused of casting doubt on Murdaugh's testimony, pressing them for a swift guilty verdict, and purportedly providing misleading details to the trial judge, especially when she aimed to dismiss a juror perceived as sympathetic to the defense.

Digging deeper into the allegations, the defense attorneys assert that Hill's repeated references to Murdaugh were designed to paint him as guilty. They have also raised concerns about her motives. They claim, "Ms. Hill did these things to secure for herself a book deal and media appearances that would not happen in the event of a mistrial. She betrayed her oath of office for personal gains." This accusation gains traction given that Hill released a book titled Behind the Doors of Justice: The Murdaugh Murders in late July.

In Murdaugh’s trial, the jury took less than three hours to pronounce him guilty of the heinous crime, where he shot his wife and son at their South Carolina estate. Several jurors subsequently came forward to discuss the evidence that influenced their decision. Amie Williams, one of the jurors, mentioned on the Today show, "The witness testimony was compelling, and the kennel video was a pivotal piece of evidence." The video she referred to confirmed that Murdaugh was at the dog kennels when the murders took place, contradicting his prior claims.

Another juror, Gwen Generette, shared her disbelief when Murdaugh took the stand. For her, hearing his voice confirmed that he was the person in the dog kennel footage, which tragically was filmed by his son Paul shortly before his death. This video played a significant role in the prosecution's strategy, given Murdaugh's initial denial of his presence at the crime scene.

The gruesome details reveal that Paul was shot at close range, while Maggie faced multiple shots from an AR-style rifle, with a telling shot in the back. Amidst the overwhelming evidence, Murdaugh later confessed on the stand to lying about his whereabouts during the crime, expressing deep remorse.

Juror Craig Moyer, recalling the deliberations on Good Morning America, said initially nine out of the twelve jury members were convinced of Murdaugh’s guilt. Upon further analysis of the case's evidence, the remaining three jurors concurred, resulting in a unanimous guilty verdict. This decision is now being contested by Murdaugh’s legal team.

Reacting to the recent developments, Murdaugh’s attorneys communicated to PEOPLE, “The serious allegations in the petition filed today speak for themselves but we believe they explain a number of peculiarities in the six-week trial.” They further reiterated, “Alex Murdaugh maintained and still maintains his innocence of the murder of Maggie and Paul and he believes the truth will ultimately prevail."

With these recent allegations of jury tampering, the Murdaugh case adds another layer of complexity and intrigue, keeping the nation closely watching.

  • California Equestrian Arrested for Attempting to Hire Hitmen to Kill Estranged Husband
California equestrian, Tatyana Remley, is currently behind bars after allegedly attempting multiple times to hire hitmen to kill her estranged husband, Mark Remley. According to a statement from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, Remley is charged with solicitation of murder and two weapons charges. She is currently being held without bail at the Las Colinas Detention Facility in Santee, California, and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

     The Investigation

The Sheriff's Department launched an investigation into Remley’s suspicious activities following a house fire at the ranch owned by the couple in Del Mar, California. Mark Remley claimed to The Coast News that Tatyana intentionally set fire to their home after he allegedly discovered her plan to kill him in early July. However, in the divorce papers filed in July, Tatyana stated that she and a friend were present at the time of the fire but were unaware of its origin.

Mark also claimed that Tatyana offered a mutual friend $2 million to kill him. However, the friend declined the offer and informed Mark, who then reported the incident to the police, instigating a sting operation. The Sheriff’s office confirmed that they summoned an arson unit to the fire scene, and Tatyana was initially arrested for alleged "firearms-related offenses" after officers discovered three firearms and ammunition on her. Following this, an investigation into her alleged murder-for-hire plot commenced after receiving information about her intentions.

     The Sting Operation

A month after the initial investigation began, Tatyana met with an undercover officer, believing him to be a hitman. According to the Sheriff's Department, "She provided detailed information on how she wanted her husband killed and his body disposed." Additionally, Tatyana brought three firearms and US currency as a down payment for the murder. The meetup and subsequent arrest occurred at a local Starbucks, as reported by The Coast News.

     A History of Turmoil

The Coast News has extensively reported on the Remleys' high-profile business failures. In 2012, the couple ran a short-lived equestrian acrobatics show, which they discontinued after only four shows and over $100,000 of investments. They claimed the show was canceled due to poor ticket sales. However, this decision left dozens of performers unpaid and stranded, along with their horses. Some crew members stated that they had uprooted their lives to travel across the country and join the production, initially planned as a five-city tour.

The Remleys married in 2011, and their relationship has reportedly been tumultuous in recent years, marked by numerous separations and reconciliations.

     Upcoming Court Appearance

Tatyana Remley's next court appearance is scheduled for October 16. As she awaits her day in court, the shocking allegations against her have left the community stunned, raising questions about the extent of the troubles between the Remleys and what led to this drastic turn of events.

     Conclusion

The arrest of Tatyana Remley for allegedly attempting to hire hitmen to murder her estranged husband has sent shockwaves through the community. With a history of business failures, a tumultuous relationship, and now charges of solicitation of murder and weapons offenses, the saga of the Remleys' relationship seems far from over. As Tatyana prepares for her upcoming court appearance, many questions remain unanswered about what led to this dark chapter in their lives.

  • Buster Murdaugh Fears 'Real' Killer May Be Coming For Him
The murder of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh in 2021 has been a tale that grasped the attention of the nation. The tragic deaths at their hunting estate in South Carolina Lowcountry were not only widely publicized but have been the topic of many television specials and documentaries. The most recent, “Fall of the House of Murdaugh,” released on Fox Nation, has now stirred the pot by featuring an interview with Buster Murdaugh, the son and brother of the deceased.

In a startling revelation, Buster Murdaugh declared that despite his father, Alex Murdaugh, being convicted for the murders, he believes in his father’s innocence. This was Buster’s first interview, although he did testify during his father’s trial. The three-part documentary relied heavily on the broadcast of the trial, video evidence from the investigation, and family photos and videos. During the interview, Buster remained stoic until the end, when he discussed the fond memories of his mother, which he clings to for strength. “Holding onto that is what I do to see me through,” he expressed.

Buster detailed his close relationship with his mother and shared that his brother, Paul, was closer to their father. Despite the convictions and the tumultuous media storm, he described his parents’ relationship as loving. When asked by host Martha MacCallum if he thinks it's possible his father is guilty, he adamantly stated, “No,” adding, “because I think that I hold a very unique perspective that nobody else in that courtroom ever held. And I know the love that I have witnessed.”

Alex Murdaugh’s defense, and now his son, have criticized the police for rushing to judgment due to pressure to name a suspect. “I think it’s one of those things where you have to do something,” Buster said. “And I think that it was — and that’s the option and the route that they decided to go with. There are always two sides of the story.” Despite this, it took more than a year for Alex Murdaugh to be charged in the case. Buster argues that many questions remain unanswered and that the real killer is still at large, which makes him fear for his safety. He hypothesizes that the murderer was seeking revenge on Paul Murdaugh for the 2019 boat crash that led to the death of friend Mallory Beach.

Alex Murdaugh, who was sentenced to two life terms and is currently held in an undisclosed prison in South Carolina, had contacted Buster soon after discovering the bodies of his wife and son. Recounting the painful memory, Buster shared, “I walked inside and I saw him, and it was utter silence. It was a — it was a big embrace. He immediately broke down crying. I started crying, and that was what that was. I mean, it’s difficult to relive these — these — these tough circumstances.”

Throughout the trial, Alex Murdaugh maintained his innocence. An excerpt from his journal, read during the documentary, revealed his mental state during the trial, “I am ready” and proclaimed his innocence. He confessed he could not erase the images of his dead wife and son from his mind. In another entry after his conviction, he mentioned his intention to hold his “head high, shoulders back,” refusing to give satisfaction to those who hate him by appearing defeated.

The documentary featured other prominent figures, including defense attorneys Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin, lead prosecutor Creighton Waters, Attorney General Alan Wilson, and the prosecution’s forensic expert Kenneth Kinsey. Yet, despite all the evidence and testimonies, Buster Murdaugh remains convinced of his father’s innocence, while Alex Murdaugh tries to survive his life sentences, holding onto the belief that he would not have been convicted if he hadn’t lied about not being at the dog kennels that night. The truth remains a mystery, leaving a family torn apart and a nation engrossed in the drama of the fall of the House of Murdaugh.

  • 140: Unimaginable Loss: Murder-Suicide Follows Tragic Drowning of Daughter
In a deeply tragic turn of events, two parents and their two children were found dead in their home in Allen, Texas, in what appears to be a murder-suicide. This incident occurred just a few weeks after the family's 4-year-old daughter, Lyian Sherwani, tragically drowned in a swimming pool. Allen Police were called to the residence after a neighbor, who was locked out of the house for two hours, was unable to reach anyone inside and became concerned for their welfare.

The Islamic Association of Allen announced in a newsletter that a prayer vigil would be held for the Sherwani family, identified as Farman Sherwani, his wife Layla Sherwani, and their sons Shaheen, 12, and Mateen, 2. The newsletter expressed deep sadness, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of 4 family members.” A member of the association also told NBC News, “Waking up to the news of losing a four-member family all of a sudden is not something anyone can be prepared for.”

Allen Police Sgt. Jonathan Maness confirmed to PEOPLE that the drowning of the girl is believed to be a factor in the incident, but was unable to confirm the shooter at this time. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are committed to conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.

Neighbors were shocked and saddened by the news. Jacqueline Soto, a neighbor, told Fox 4 News that the family member who couldn't gain access to the home was a grandmother. "She was just really distraught," said Soto. Another neighbor told NBC News, "It was just really sad and really hard. I think all of us kind of just felt for the family as we were watching them mourn in the front yard.”

The tragic drowning of Lyian Sherwani just three weeks prior to this incident has left the community reeling. The loss of a child is incredibly painful, and it is believed to have played a role in the subsequent tragedy that befell the Sherwani family.

This series of events underscores the importance of mental health support for those grieving the loss of a loved one. It is crucial that individuals experiencing such trauma receive adequate support to help them navigate through their grief and pain.

As the investigation continues, the community is coming together to support one another and remember the Sherwani family. The Islamic Association of Allen, along with friends, neighbors, and the wider community, are mourning the loss of this family and seeking to understand how such a tragedy could occur.

In conclusion, the tragic deaths of the Sherwani family highlight the importance of providing support to those experiencing grief and trauma. It is a stark reminder that we must come together as a community to support one another in times of need. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and it is hoped that it will provide some answers to the many questions surrounding this deeply sad and unfortunate series of events.
