Special Prizes for Grand Trail Hikers
Living in the city can be very convenient… with all the shops and restaurants… and good public transportation (公共交通), like frequent (頻繁) buses and MRT trains.
But it can be nice to escape the bustle of the city…
And go into the countryside sometimes.
That's why lots of people go hiking (健行).
And lucky for people who like hiking, Taiwan has some amazing trails
The Taipei City government is encouraging people to get out and take on these trails.
It is promoting (推廣) an event called the 'Grand Hike'.
And the Grand Hike has 12 different trails…
…at a total of 92 kilometers!
But, don't worry, you don't have to walk the entire 92 kilometers in one go.
You have a whole year to do it!
The Taipei City Government is giving a special prize to those that take a photo of themselves at a location (地點) on each of the 12 trails from now up until December 31st.
And you get additional prizes if you use an app called Walk Notes to track your journey.
Some of the locations include Qixing Mountain, the highest peak (峰) in Taipei.
There's also the Camphor Tree Walkway on the Zhangshu Trail in Taipei's Wenshan District.
The government said it wants to help people improve their fitness.
I sure could do with more exercise!

Chimps Use Insects as Band Aids
Ouch! I fell over and I've cut myself.
Oh great… now it's bleeding (流血).
What should I do?
Here, I have a band aid (OK繃), put this over your cut to stop it from bleeding.
Oh, thank you! Band aids are definitely a useful invention (發明) to help people when they are injured (受傷).
Not just people…
What do you mean?
Chimpanzees have invented band aids, too!
Chimpanzees? How?
By using insects. Chimpanzees (黑猩猩) in Gabon, a country in Africa, have been spotted catching insects and directly applying them to wounds.
And they don't just do it to themselves, they do it to other chimps, too!
Scientists there first saw it happen in 2019, when they caught a mother looking at her son's injured foot.
The mother caught an insect, squeezed it in her mouth, and then put it on her son's foot!
The scientists have recorded similar incidents (相同的情況) many times since.
They're not sure what kind of insects chimps prefer to use, but they think it's probably a flying one.
Other animals heal themselves when they are hurt by eating plants and things like that.
But it's rare to see one animal tending to the wounds of another.
I guess insects are less disgusting…and more useful than I thought!
