Brent Lacey, MD, is a gastroenterologist with a passion for financial management and career coaching. He was able to pay off all of his student loans before finishing fellowship, and he got a big head start on his retirement savings.
He felt God calling him to start teaching financial management classes so he created a Financial Discipleship Ministry at his church and developed a personal finance curriculum for his hospital. He then became certified through Ramsey Solutions as a Master Financial Coach and has been coaching and teaching these principles to people at all stages of their careers ever since. He has a podcast and blog called Scope of Practice which aims to help his audience gain the knowledge we need to run our businesses successfully and manage our personal finances with expertise.
We discuss strategies for effective practice management. We start with staff management, from hiring to training to workplace culture to firing. This is even relevant for physicians who are employed, so may not have as much control, but still set the tone for the office and he gives ways to influence the office management. For a deeper dive, check out his blog and podcast on ScopeOfPractice.com and his free e-book on practice management. He can be found at thescopeofpractice.com/
