July 10, 1981, Skidmore, Missouri. Ken Rex McElroy climbs into the cab of his pickup  with wife Trena after leaving the D & G Tavern. He starts the truck, and pauses to light a cigarette. Shots ring out from behind and in front of the truck, shattering glass while approximately sixty people watched. One hundred years ago, Labor Day 1921, silent movie star and comedian Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle is in San Francisco with his buddies for a weekend holiday. Partying ensued. Alcohol flowed. And women joined in the mayhem. But when the Labor Day holiday was over, a twenty-six-year-old starlet named Virginia Rappe is dead—seemingly suffering injuries while in Roscoe’s room at the St. Francis Hotel. On March 13, 1979, Wanda Weston murdered 73-year-old Inez Kelley at the Palmland Motel in Fort Myers, Florida. It was a senseless and brutal murder that happened all because Inez wouldn’t acknowledge the fact she’d borrowed a ball point pen from a 23-year-old housekeeper at the hotel-Juanita Maxwell. Hours later, the elderly Inez Kelly was found strangled to death, her skull crushed by a table lamp, a pillowcase over her head. When the body is discovered, bloody footprints led to the adjoining motel room.
