  • EP89: The Hidden Trigger Behind Autoimmunity, Brain Fog, and Fatigue

    Support the Institute today. https://givenow.nova.edu/donations-for-me-cfs-research-2026

In today's episode, Haylie Pomroy is joined by Dr. Andrew Campbell, a specialist in complex chronic illness, toxic exposures, and immune dysfunction. Together, they examine the clinical science behind mycotoxin illness — how mold-derived toxins enter the body, why they are frequently missed or misdiagnosed, and how they may be driving some of the most prevalent and poorly understood chronic conditions of our time.

Dr. Campbell shares the evidence base connecting mycotoxins to neurological diseases including multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, ALS, and Parkinson's disease, as well as autoimmune disorders, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, autism, and reproductive health conditions. He explains the critical difference between urine and serum mycotoxin testing, clarifies what IgG and IgE antibodies actually indicate about current versus past exposure, and outlines a clinically validated approach to diagnosis and treatment through My Myco Lab.

He also addresses environmental sources of mycotoxin exposure, the first rule of toxicology in clinical practice, and why accurate testing is the foundation of any meaningful recovery pathway.

Dr. Andrew Campbell is a Medical Clinician, Director, Officer, Advisor, and Medical Consultant, also Editor-in-Chief of several journals and research studies, and was recently selected as Top Medical Consultant of the Year for 2020 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the healthcare profession. With over 45 years of professional experience as a renowned Medical Clinician, Dr. Campbell has certainly proven himself as an expert in the field of integrative health and traditional medicine. Dr. Campbell is a dynamic, results-driven leader who has demonstrated success by treating the most complex patients and having extensive experience with testing for molds and mycotoxins from environmental and toxic exposures. He is fluent in Arabic, Hungarian, French, Spanish and English. He has also effectively worked alongside medical professionals from other cultures in Central and South America, Western and Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.

  • EP88: The Labs That Give You Real Answers

    Support the Institute today. https://givenow.nova.edu/donations-for-me-cfs-research-2026

In this episode, Haylie Pomroy sits down with Dr. Angela Taylor to break down the labs that truly matter when it comes to understanding your health.

Many patients are told their labs are "normal," yet continue to experience fatigue, weight changes, thyroid symptoms, and chronic health issues. This conversation explores why standard testing may fall short—and how a more comprehensive, functional approach can provide real answers.

Together, they dive into thyroid panels beyond TSH, the importance of intracellular nutrient testing, and how imbalances in zinc, copper, iron, and key vitamins can impact metabolism and overall wellness.

They also discuss how infections, vitamin D levels, and environmental factors can influence lab markers—and why advocating for the right tests is essential.

If you've ever felt like your labs don't match how you feel, this episode of the Hope and Help For Fatigue and Chronic Illness podcast will give you the tools to better understand your body and take control of your health.

Dr. Angela Taylor is a doctor of clinical nutrition and board-certified in both clinical nutrition and functional medicine. In this episode, Haylie Pomroy speaks with Dr. Theoharis Theoharides about multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS). He explains the immunological responses occurring within the body, the symptoms and daily experiences reported by patients, and the connection between MCS and mast cell activation.

Dr. Theoharides also offers expert guidance on managing MCS, explains the diagnostic codes associated with mast cell activation, and emphasizes why blocking mast cells is critical to the healing process.

He further discusses how stress can trigger mast cell reactivation, the role of vitamin D3, and why measuring chemical exposures and mycotoxins does not always indicate the absence of ongoing immune reactivation.

Dr. Theoharis Theoharides is a Professor, Vice Chair of Clinical Immunology, and Director at the Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine-Clearwater, an Adjunct Professor of Immunology at Tufts School of Medicine, where he was a Professor of Pharmacology and Internal Medicine, and also the Director of Molecular Immunopharmacology & Drug Discovery, and Clinical Pharmacologist at the Massachusetts Drug Formulary Commission (1983-2022). He received his BA, MS, MPhil, PhD, and MD degrees and the Winternitz Price in Pathology from Yale University and received a Certificate in Global Leadership from Tufts Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a Fellowship at Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He trained in internal medicine at New England Medical Center, which awarded him the Oliver Smith Award, "recognizing excellence, compassion, and service." Dr. Theoharides has 485 publications (46,491 citations; h-index 106), placing him in the world's top 2% of most cited authors, and he was rated the worldwide expert on mast cells by Expertscape. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society, the Rare Diseases Hall of Fame, and the World Academy of Sciences.

    Support the Institute today. https://givenow.nova.edu/the-institute-for-neuro-immune-medicine-inim-2025

In this episode, Haylie Pomroy shares the mic with Dr. Nancy Klimas to discuss chronic illness diagnosis and management, examined through both the clinician's and the patient's perspectives. Together, they explore why patient advocacy and informed awareness of symptoms and triggers can play a critical role in the healing process.

Dr. Klimas shares what led her to focus on integrative medicine, why paying attention to the signals the body provides matters, and the importance of working with clinicians who actively advocate alongside their patients.

She also addresses why sleep is foundational in patient assessment, explains the role of dysautonomia and bioenergetics in chronic illness, and offers clinical insight into what occurs within the immune system during periods of sympathetic overdrive.

Dr. Nancy Klimas, a clinical immunologist by training, is the director of the Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine who has allotted her life to helping other people find cures for their complex illnesses that were once considered helpless. She works with her fellow medical experts in researching and analyzing the deeper causes of such diseases, particularly on the neuro-immunity side, to provide the best option suited for every single case or story they handle.
