This podcast is all about believing you can do anything.
Lindsay tells one very powerful story about what you are capable of, if you just believe you are.
It's inspiring and motivating and it makes us look at the limits we may be putting on ourselves, that aren't really there.
Lindsay talks about how she truly believes you can do anything you want to do, if you just believe you can do it, and align your language and behaviors to support it.
This story comes from an interview where Tom Bilyeu is talking to Trevor Moawad.
Trevor has worked with some of the world's top athletes and he wrote a book called "It takes what it takes," where he talks about so many lessons he's learned coaching athletes and what it takes to come back from setbacks and win. He is a very savvy coach and has such an interesting approach…
So much of it starts with letting go. Past failures, past losses-let them go. The past isn't predictive of the future.
Here's the story:
This guy was failing out of high school and really struggling and promised his mom he would take the SAT. He doesn't expect anything - he's fully failing out of school. He's being raised by a single mom in the midwest and has zero expectations, he just promised her.
Get's his score back and he gets a 1480 out of 1600.
His mother thought he cheated and she was like I tried to cheat but I couldn't.
They are both stunned. He realizes he's smart and going into his senior year.
He starts to go to class and he doesn't hang out with the people
His teachers treat him differently - like maybe we didn't give this kid a chance.
Twelve years after his success and gets a letter in the mail - turns out the SAT board will perioidly review their test taking procedures and the policies.
He was one of 13 people who got sent the wrong SAT score.
His actual score was a 740 out of 1600.
He says… people think my whole life changed when I got the 1480, but really my whole life changed when I started acting like a 1480 and not a 740.
What does a 1480 do? He goes to class.
Your language is powerful and your behaviors are SO powerful.
What you do, not how you feel about your past is going to determine who you are in the future.
***********
*Trevor has this great quote in his book that says…
"Average is a choice. Greatness is a choice. There is no magic. Only decisions."
*Isn't that so empowering? Like it's a TON of pressure but it's also freeing!!
*It's all about our decisions and our behaviors and our daily habits.
*Podcast coming soon by the way about habits!
*It's about our habits, our behaviors, what we do everyday. It's the discipline and the mentality.
*We are motivated by fear by incentive or this drive to be great.
*How you think affects how you feel and how you feel affects how you behave.
*Sustain the great habits and get rid of the bad habits.
*Wake up and do the right things. You can only think about one thing at a time. We have to squash the distractions.
*It's not magic. Tell yourself - "I'm going to get up early or stay late if it needs it. I'm going to stay positive, and keep making the right decisions forward."
CHEERS! To believing you can do anything you want to do!
Today's podcast is all about getting a great workout - in a short amount of time.
Whether you are in a serious time crunch or just realllllly don't feel like doing it… I'm explaining why research shows that you can still really make strides towards your goals in just 15 minutes.
I'm giving you lots of ideas of what to do in 15 minutes that is going to exhaust you, AND help your body increase fat burn and energy expenditure for hours after exercise.
Momentum is everything, especially with fitness, so we know that more we show up on the regular, the better we will feel and the healthier we will be. Even if you just have a few minutes, just showing up and putting in the work keeps you in the groove of it and you can actually burn fat and increase muscle in these quick sessions too.
We're talking about killer SHORT workouts today… let's go!
Here are some ways Lindsay talks about getting a great workout in a short amount of time…
-HIIT - high intensity interval training (and it doesn't have to be high impact)
-Run stairs!
-Run at an incline on a treadmill
-Do traditional weight lifting exercises using heavy weights
-Take an online express class
-Get outside! Run fast, run hills, do stepups on a bench
*It should be hard! You should sweat!*
Some tips:
-Don't take many breaks
-Push to exhaust the muscles (or yourself!)
-Consistency is key! A bunch of short workouts consistently is better for you than a few long workouts.
-Take online classes to keep you moving quickly
-It helps with your mental toughness
And it's so good for your mental health!! It can help reduce anxiety, depression and get you out of a bad mood!
CHEERS! To moving your body everyday!! (even if it's just 15 minutes)
Quick heads up- this podcast is going to have a few light curse words but we promise you it's worth it and essential in describing this hack.
Lindsay talks about how she's started doing this quick breathing hack to let irritating things go or stop worrying about something and focus on the good stuff.
Ready for it?
Take a huge deep breath in through the nose, and out through the nose and say, "inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit" (or the bad shit) depending on what we are dealing with.
Lindsay talks about how one of the changes she's made in the last 5 or so years that's made the biggest impact on her life is deciding not to care about things that don't matter anymore. Letting things go is so freeing but it's not always as easy to do in real time.
So let's use this hack to do it. Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.
This episode is all about getting dressed efficiently and feel great about what you're wearing!
Lindsay talks about how she spent so many years destroying her closet when she got ready, and having an outfit crisis right before an event, or wearing something uncomfortable all day, or taking way too long to get dressed. She's finally gotten a groove down to where she finally gets dressed efficiently and feels good in what she's wearing.
It's so freeing and saves so much time and stress. You won't be dashing to the mall right before an event or have a mini breakdown because you have nothing wear.
Lindsay is sharing her best tips for getting dressed efficiently and always loving what you're wearing!!
We're talking about things like… purging your closet so it's filled with things you are excited to wear and organizing it for function not fashion. We're getting into how to only buy things you love and stop overbuying. Buy less and spend more on things you love. Layout your clothes the night before and give yourself two options to work with.
Today is a very practical and fun podcast all about getting dressed efficiently and in clothing that you feel great in.
Here are some of the tips that Lindsay covers:
-Purge your closet.
-Organize your closet for function, not fashion.
(Like maybe you put complete sweat suits together rather than putting the pants part with your pants)
And get slim hangers!!
-Don't overbuy- just buy things you love.
-Buy less, spend more on quality and things you know you will like for a long time.
-Know what you like! Rather than browsing all the time, if you know what looks good on you and the style you like, look for those, search for those, keep up with those brands. Saves time and money and you actually wear what you buy.
-If you don't wear it right away, return it before it's been too long.
-Layout 2 options for the next day the night before.
-Look at your calendar and make notes of any outfits you might want to buy for special events. Then you have it top of mind ahead of time to look online or in person. So you aren't dashing out the night before!
-Don't worry so much about what you're wearing! You have more fun if you don't obsess over it.

In this episode, Lindsay talks about SLEEP!!! And how she was compromising sleep so much but just won't do it anymore.
She thinks that improving the quality of your sleep will improve your life in so many ways.
She's sharing all he things she's learned about what happens in the body during sleep. Like… your brain sorts the days information. Hormones flood your body. Your nervous system chills out. Your cortisol levels lower. Your muscles relax!!
Here are some of the topics that Lindsay covers:
Sleep efficiency - Have a routine and try to stick to it. Even on weekends modify a bit - maybe you don't wake up so early but similar. The consistency of sleep is so important.
️ Get sunlight during the day!
Daily rhythms are set by light!!! Thirty minutes is ideal!! Sitting by a window isn't enough.
🏼 Get up and move your body! Exercise or stretching or walking is key. And it helps to tire out the body! Studies show working out first thing in the morning is best for sleep. They spend more time in the deepest sleep and more efficient sleep cycles.
Experts say that most people who have problems going to sleep are doing something during the day that is causing it and not realizing it.
It's not just about what you do at night that affects your sleep.
No tech an hour before bed. It can be so hard but we just have to setup new, better habits.
⚡️Make sleep a priority!! Try to limit those times when you compromise sleep for other things.
Stop eating 3 hours before bed. If you eat right before bed… your body still has to keep working!! Try to eat earlier so your body can stop functioning by the time you get into bed. The factory is still open if you're digesting food!
🤩 Blue light glasses at night if you are going to do tech. It's been shown to really help you sleep better. Light messes with your sleep! There are also sleep glasses if you want to take it one step further.
️ Limit your stress!!! The main reason we have trouble going to sleep is because of stress!! We have to work hard to reduce our stress! We have to be so aware of it and realize that lowering stress and prioritizing sleep is just so important.

Along with nutrition and exercise, good sleep is one of the pillars of health. You simply cannot achieve optimal health without taking care of your sleep.
In this episode, we're talking about being very intentional about the time we spend on our phone and the relationship we have with it.
Lindsay's been researching what experts call "digital minimalism" and how we can apply it to our lives so we are less phone obsessed and using it primarily in ways that add to our lives and gives us returns on the small number of things that we really care about and get to where we're ok missing the out on the rest.
We are using our phones for things that add valuable to our lives, and not mindlessly scrolling.
In a time when there is no avoiding it, we have to be smart about it and use your tech to work for you, not against you.
Lindsay is sharing lots of tips that experts give on how to stop being distracted all day by the pinging of your phone and why we've almost completely eliminated down-time and why it's so important to get back.
We're working on breaking our addiction to our phones today friends!
A few key points from this podcast:
-Like most things Lindsay thinks the answer lies in the middle... it's all about moderation.
-Goal: "I know what I'm all about and I know what I want to do with my time. I know what's important to me. I put tech to work strategically to help the things I really care about- and then everything else that's out there I just ignore."
-Physiology researcher named Sophie Leroy found that- -If you're focused on something hard- and you switch over to check on an email or text- there's some residue that's left from that switch over- you aren't as sharp as you were before that.-So you're basically dumber. Even if it's for one minute. There's a residue that takes awhile to clear out. It's like you're not as sharp.-The way a lot of us work is that we are constantly doing these quick checks- and it can make us feel productive - but we are losing quality of our performance. We don't even realize this!-This is why we have to prioritize these long stretches. We are avoiding that lowering of our capacity.
-We aren't having a haphazard approach.
-Text messages pinging you all day. I have my team email instead of text me- and I control when I check emails.
-We can't be our best with the constant distraction
-We have to practice- self control and be intentional about how we spend our time.
-We have almost no down time- no time with just our thoughts. Which is solitude.
-Cal talks about solitude deprivation. Freedom from input from other minds. It's crucial if you're going to thrive as a human. It was unavoidable 10 years ago- if you have to wait in line etc- but for the first time in human history- we have a super computer in our pocket- so all solitude is removed from our lives.
-We need to build that time back into our lives.
-Social media- constant checking- like a constant companion - constantly looking at the phone - hasn't always been this way. It's now normal to look at your phone all day. It's been re engineered!! It's not about posting and looking at your friends posts - now it's likes and comments- and we get social approval!! They added this because it changed it so now we check it all the time. We look at it at every possible down time moment.
-How do we train ourselves to change this? It's not going to change without actual effort. Go without your phone when you work out or something - even if it's 20 mins a day. You're breaking the cycle.
-Be more productive!!
-Keep your primary life priorities in mind and use your phone for just things that bring you closer to that
-We need solo time
-Cal Newport - Digital minimalism
-Stop mini checks
-Less inventions because nobody is looking around solving -problems
-It's affecting our life more than we think- on the daily and in the big picture
-Social media can brings a few harms- the are designed to be addictive
-Leaves us feeling inadequate
-Too much stimulation- like taking a slot machine home from Vegas we aren't wired for this
-Gives us so much anxiety!! And can make you feel miserable
-Large portions of your day are fragmented and it permanently reduces you capacity for concentration- and we can't achieve those really great things this way
-Pick things daily that you do without phone
-How to help our kids who are growing up with it
-You can get so much more done with intense concentration
-You can then unplug at night and not constantly work or check emails
-Consider how much happier we could be with less phone time
It's a part of life, we are doing to deal with people who suck. Some are blissfully unaware of the impact that they have on those around them and others seem to get satisfaction from coming at other people or irritating them or judging them or otherwise creating chaos. Either way, they suck! They are creating unnecessary conflict, making things more complicated than they need to be and often causing so much stress and pain that could have completely been avoided.
But as we know- we can't always control what happens to us, but we can decide how we define it and how we react to it.
So today, we're talking about training ourselves to be ready for interactions with people who suck and dealing with it in a calm and compassionate way. It's not easy to do - but it's essential if we are going to keep our stress levels low and protect our headspace.
It's a very practical and positive episode about how to deal with people who suck.
Lindsay gets into how to not let these negative interactions weigh so heavily that you end up thinking most people suck. Most people are awesome- we just let the interactions of those who suck weigh more heavily because they are more upsetting. Today, we're focusing on how to deal with it in a positive and compassionate way.
Lindsay explains how compassion is a sensitivity to suffering.
With these key points:
It's often hard to see the beautiful people sometimes- because it's not forced upon you as much and it's not as aggressive. Like if someone at the grocery store smiles at you and says they love our shoes- that's so nice. And then 5 minutes later if someone screams at you in the parking lot and throws you a gesture- you remember that so much more because it was so much more impactful and LOUD. But it's one person. Lindsay is talking about how we can change how we think about that one person, how we react to that one person, and how it shouldn't make us think or say that everyone is f-ed up.
We run into good people all the time - even just eye contact and a smile.
We are oddly attracted to negativity. Like- do we need to go to war here? When really it's an online troll … really sad and sick people that have not found their path. The haven't found any happiness, any fulfillment, any growth. They are stifled or rotten in some way so they are lashing out at the world.
Then you run into one of those people and you say… ah people suck!!
That's the initial response but what we really want to do is have compassion for them.
And it's NOT EASY.
But here's what Lindsay has learned in researching this - we need to have as little stress in our life as possible. So we have to prepare for people who suck and decide ahead of time how we are going to deal with it.
Lindsay breaks it down this way, depending on if it's someone in your life that you see all the time, or a random interaction with a stranger.. here are some things to consider.
Some ways to practically manage it.
A few other highlights from this episode:
PLAN to have compassion when someone sucks in your life. It's the key to less stress and a strong, positive mindset that can't be torn down.
This podcast is all about eating for health and for a long life.
Healthy eating and diet can be complicated and overwhelming and sometimes it's just hard to know what's the best choice. There are so many different diet plans and philosophies… let's make it simple!
Lindsay is sharing one strategy that works really well for her that she wish she would have known about years ago.
Figuring out what foods make you feel good, and focusing on eating lots of great stuff, rather than restricting.
Once you figure out the healthy foods that you like best, let's figure how to prep them and have them easy to grab so when you're hungry, you fill up on the healthiest stuff.
Then, there's plenty of room for other foods that are more indulgent and those special super delicious meals.
Lindsay is breaking down a really awesome and simple way to approach healthy eating.
Here are some of the points that Lindsay covers in this podcast:
It really all comes down to veggies
And for me lean proteins and fruits
Put veggies in your food
Make nice big salads
Eat at home more so you can control what's in it
Steam, roast and saute veggies
Slow cooker
Green drinks - juice your own
Spiralized veggies so they act like noodles
Have them chopped and ready to eat!!
Have lots of fruits too like berries and apples
Find healthy pick-up places close to you and look at the menu ahead of time so you have your go-to places.
Fill up on greens!
Eat the other stuff- but not as much of it
