A strong website is an absolute MUST for a luxury business in 2021. We find that we are having similar conversations all over the country as we talk face-to-face with retailers, both big and small, so we've brought Thomas Cossuto on the podcast to explain the common misconceptions and questions regarding why a website makes sense in 2021. Tommy has attended well over 35 jewelry trade shows around the country, and has helped hundreds of retailers understand how to improve their business.
Marketing isn't always about making the sale. Gaining brand awareness, creating a community, and promoting meaningful interaction with your brand using social media and web presence are often better received than constant sales pushes, and they can actually result in more sales over a period of time. In this episode, we're doing one of our favorite things -- talking about our favorite brands' social accounts and websites and why they're so successful at what they do. We'll share a few of our favorite profiles and discuss the ways they're bringing in clients and encouraging more than a sale.
The fervor of Black Friday hasn't died away, but each year it has increasingly moved online as people shop from their phones in their pajamas, coffee in hand in the comfort of their own homes. As shopping shifts to the internet, is your store prepared to handle the increase in virtual traffic and the delivery and fulfillment? How can you use specific selling tactics to push certain inventory? How many staff should you have to handle the in-person and virtual traffic? In other words, are you READY? If you don't have all the details hammered out around what your store should be doing to prep for Black Friday, join Matt and Elizabeth to chat about starting off the holiday shopping rush right and set yourself up for your most successful weekend ever.
Landing pages are the lighthouses to your store in an ocean of options. They bring in website traffic, tell customers a little bit about you and what you offer, and provide directions on ways to go next. If you already have a website, they're a pretty easy and inexpensive way to bring in new leads. But do they really work, and is it worth the effort to invest in establishing and maintaining landing pages? What are the most important parts of landing pages, and are there any cases where they could be detrimental to your business? Find out all you ever needed to know about landing pages in this week's episode!
The social media space is ever changing, and can be confusing when viewed from a distance. Every business now-a-days has a Facebook and an Instagram, but have you ever considered how you use your Twitter? Or building your presence on Reddit? What about leveraging long form content from Twitch into mid length content on Youtube, or ultra short content on TikTok. Mike and Gasper break down Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Youtube, WhatsApp, Tumblr, Reddit, LinkedIn, SnapChat, Pinterest, Meetup, Twitch, Discord, and Zoom and suggest some ways small businesses might leverage their unique voices on each.
This week Mike interviews Sebastian Velasquez from INOX Men's Jewelry. INOX is best known as THE men's jewelry line, creating iconic bangles, bracelets, and rings for over fifteen years. Sebastian shared his view on men's fashion and where he thinks the industry is heading, information he is uniquely privy. Additionally, the pair discuss the unique trust and dynamic between vendors and retailers, something that is rarely spoken about but is extremely important for the continued success of the jewelry industry. You wont want to miss this one!

Punchmark and The Smithee Group recently traveled to Las Vegas for JCK, the largest jewelry show in North America. While there, we attended the inaugural year of the JCK Podcast Zone, and recorded a few conversations on the future of the jewelry industry. The first was with Denise Purtzer from ClearSale about the state of online fraud and how to prevent it, as well as some of the most common techniques fraudsters employ. The second was with Emmae and Matt from The Smithee Group to talk about their booth at JCK which aims to educate jewelers about the future of technology, as well as potential e-commerce and shopping uses for them. These were recorded live at the JCK show, and some of the audio has more background noise than we typically permit. We appreciate your understanding!
