Podcast Excerpt: In the smallest particle of matter is mirrored the infinitely great. The atom (with its ever busy group of electrons) is a minute replica of our solar system. The little worlds and the gigantic ones are copies of the whole.
We, too, are an embodiment of the universe. All human beings have elements and characteristics corresponding to the higher and lower orders of every created thing. Material science tells us that the human body contains a portion of all the elements in the sun, the earth, and the air.
It is a fact that we are reservoirs: dynamos of tremendous, concentrated, creative, latent energy. That which moves the world of people and things is within you. You have a gold mine awaiting development. You are a giant of power if you only knew it.

Listen to episode 1146 of the Inspirational Living podcast: How to See the Beauty in Life. Edited and adapted from The Realisation of Life by Rabindranath Tagore, published in 1916.
Inspirational Podcast Excerpt:The Upanishads have said that all things are created and sustained by an infinite joy. To realize this principle of creation, we have to start with a division — the division into the beautiful and the non-beautiful. The apprehension of beauty has to come to us with a vigorous blow to awaken our consciousness from its primitive lethargy, and it attains its goal by the urgency of the contrast.
At first, we detach beauty from its surroundings. We hold it apart from the rest. But in the end, we realize its harmony with all. Then the recognition of beauty in things great and small become easy, and we see it more in the unassuming harmony of common objects than in things startling in their singularity.

Listen to episode 1145 of the Inspirational Living podcast: The Importance of Poetry in Life. Edited and adapted from Life's Enthusiasms by David Starr Jordan.
Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: Poetry is truth expressed in the fewest possible words, in words which are inevitable, in words which could not be changed without weakening the meaning or throwing discord into the melody. To choose the right word and to discard all others, this is the chief factor in good writing.
To learn good poetry by heart is to acquire help toward doing this instinctively, automatically as other habits are acquired. In the affairs of life, then, no form of good manners, no habit of usage, is more valuable than the habit of good English.
My message today is an appeal to enthusiasm in the things of life, a call to do things because you love them, to love things because you do them, to keep the eyes open, the heart warm and the pulses swift, as you move across the field of life.

Podcast Excerpt: In all the world, there are only two kinds of people — those who know, and those who do not know; and this knowledge is the thing which matters. What religion a person holds, to what race you belong — these things are not important. The really important thing is this knowledge — the knowledge of God's plan for us. For God has a plan, and that plan is evolution.
Once you have seen the truth of this, and really know it, you cannot help working for it, and making yourself one with it — because it is so glorious, so beautiful. And because you know it, you are on God's side, standing for good and resisting evil, working for evolution and not for selfishness.
There are Six Points of Conduct which are specially required for those who are dedicated to the evolution of themselves and others:

Listen to episode 1144 of the Inspirational Living podcast: The Philosophy of Long Life. Edited and adapted from The Philosophy of Long Life by Jean Finot.
Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: The world is led, not only by ideas, but above all by words. It is sometimes only necessary to give a thing a pleasant or a repulsive name, and our mind will be at once penetrated with the significance thus lent to it. The word becomes idea, thought, and conviction — the covering of the object thus identifying itself with the object itself.
If the vanishing of our body (instead of being called death or disappearance) had been conceived as a resurrection, a sort of return to the immortality of nature, it would rather evoke a delicious shiver at the mystery of the afterlife, instead of the horrors of nothingness.

Inspirational Podcast Excerpt:Your ability to take a new hold on life depends upon your ability to break with the thoughts of the past and acquire a new outlook on the present and future. Taking a new hold, then, is simply a matter of gaining the right perspective of time. If the past continues to be something to you, then the unpleasant events of the past will continue to live. Their hold on you will prevent your taking a new hold on life.

Listen to episode 1143 of the Inspirational Living Podcast: Inspiring Thoughts on Your Immortal Life, edited & adapted from Theodore Parker's Unitarian sermon on immortality.
Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: Immortality is what philosophers call an ontological fact; it belongs essentially to our being, just as the eye is a physiological fact and belongs to our body. To my mind this is the great proof of immortality: the fact that it is written in human nature; written there so plain that the no nation has failed to find it, to know it; written just as much as form is written on the circle. It comes to our consciousness as naturally as the notions of time and space. We feel it as a desire; we feel it as a fact.
To suppose that this universal desire has no corresponding gratification is to deny reality. I feel the longing after immortality, a desire essential to my nature, deep as the foundation of my being; I find the same desire in all people—though some may try to hide or dismiss it.

Listen to episode 1142 of the Inspirational Living podcast: Advice to Young Artists. Edited and adapted from an Oscar Wilde lecture to art students.
Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: Today, I do not desire to give you any abstract definition of beauty. For we who are working in art cannot accept any theory of beauty in exchange for beauty itself, and, rather than desiring to isolate it in a formula appealing to the intellect, we, on the contrary, seek to materialize it in a form that gives joy to the soul through the senses. We want to create art, not to define it. The definition should follow the work: the work should not adapt itself to the definition.
Nothing, indeed, is more dangerous to the young artist than any conception of ideal beauty: for you will be constantly led by it either into weak prettiness or lifeless abstraction: whereas to touch the ideal at all, you must not strip it of vitality. You must find it in life and re-create it in art.

Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: NEVER say that you wish your situation were different! Never wish you had some other person's life, troubles, or worries. Accept your own as a working basis, the life that is best for you.
Then go ahead and change whatever displeases you. Remember that you are the maker and molder of your own destiny. You do not recall the fact, but you brought about the present conditions of your destiny in your former lives.

Listen to episode 1141 of the Inspirational Living podcast: Living a Life Driven by Your Ideals. Edited and adapted from How to Fight the Battles of Life by Carl Hilty.
Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: True idealism is not the deceiving of oneself about reality, or the intentional ignoring of reality, or the hiding from reality, or the creating for oneself a world of unreality. Idealism, on the contrary, is reached by a deeper interpretation of the world, by victory over it, and especially by victory over oneself. For we, too, are an integral part of the world and we cannot conquer the whole unless, first of all, we conquer our own part of it, by strength of principles and force of habit.
