Jonelle Melton was a social studies teacher at Red Bank Middle School, where her passion for history inspired and engaged her students.She had even attended President Barack Obama's inauguration in January 2009, and shared the experience with her students and colleagues.Tragically, in the months following this historical event, ​Jonelle Melton was tortured and murdered in her apartment.Her case remained unsolved for a number of years, demonstrating that it is not always the usual suspects who are responsible for a murder.
