  • JFD588: The Snow Woman, Baba Yaga, Witching and Bitching
It's Witch week, junkies, so break out those broomsticks and get spooked with these three international tales of witchcraft. Up first! It's 1968's The Snow Woman, from Japan. This classic folklore tale is most notable for inspiring Parker's favorite Pokemons. But how many witches does it really contains? Donloyd and find out. Next up! Those wacky Italians bring us the highly-erotic and super-funky Baba Yaga (from 1973). This film is considered essential viewing for fans of early 70s Italian interior design, Lesbian witchcraft, and boobs. Plus, we got a voicemail about it this week! Finally! Of course, it's 2013's Witching and Bitching, from Spain's Álex de la Iglesia. It's got a unique blend of action, witches, and terrible CGI, all of which is chatted about in a friendly manner. All this plus which witches are wickedest?, what's Sean been watchin'?, Parker's Marvel Movie Mania, which Boris Karloff documentary was essential in-theater viewing for our fearless Kevin?, theatrical vomit-play, obscure perversions on the Home Box Office, meatless wonders, unfathomable Fathom events, a truly great Mank pun, dramatic/interpretive legalese, funny ragamuffins, nerd news and even more! • JFD586: JFDTV 2021
Once again, we switch things up a bit, take a break from movies and instead resurrect the ghost of MTV past by watching a bunch of old music videos!  Up first, Kevin picks a handful of music videos featuring things such as stop-motion rock 'n roll dinosaurs, glowing-eyed choir boys who can fly, Rudy Ray Moore, Schlitzy and so much more! Then, Parker mixes some pop-punk nostalgia with some spooky videos to get in the Halloween mood featuring donkey love, food fights, spider-walking and of course, The Crypt Keeper.  And finally, Sean takes us in a different direction picking several musical clips from European TV shows featuring Tron suits, Iggy Pop, robot dancers, Grace Jones and creepy jesters.  (If you'd like to watch these videos with us, check out the previous blog posts for video versions of these segments!)  All this plus Sean's YouTube troubles, Parker's Madonna binge, Kevin's continued adventures at the drive-in, Elvira talk, Lost Boys news, the Puffnstff blu-ray and so much more. • JFD585: Hot Stuff, Crime Wave, Tough Guys Don't Dance
The results are in! We've got the official thoughts and criticisms and witticisms regarding the THREE weird movies our everlasting friends from the Dom Deluise Patreon Club have picked for us this month. And you'll never believe which tough guys are in 'em!! Up first! It's 1979's Hot Stuff, which is neither a sex comedy nor an official sequel from the Smoky and the Bandit franchise. But it might be a spiritual sequel, and it's definitely got Dom Deluise (the actor, not the Patreon tier). Listen along as we explore Dom's only (notable) directorial effort, in which he, Jerry Reed and Suzanne Pleshette serve and protect the community by flipping old wares in and old wares-house. With fat jokes! (thanks Ricky O!) Next up! We've done Sam Raimi's 1985 film Crime Wave, so of course we're reviewing John Paizs's 1985 film Crime Wave aka The Big Crimewave (from 1985). This confusingly-titled and confusingly-realized debut feature from the Canadian auter concerns the screenplay-writing escapades of an old-timey film fan as well as some on-and-off-screen crimes. With surrealist photography! (thanks Eddie!) Finally! Of course, it's 1987's Tough Guys Don't Dance, that soapishly operatic cuckolding drama from true-life shit-head Norman Mailer. Ryan O'Neal stars in this Provincetown classic that contains everyone's favorite dramatic line readings. With baby Penn Jillette! (thanks Matt from Arizona!) All this plus the death of a clown, Kevin's adventures at HorrorHound Cincinnati, a reluctance for early Pumpkin Pie consumption, the great skeleton shortage of 2021, Halloween pancakes, ass-slappin' on goofballs, Dom Deluise appreciation, your exciting new magazine subscription, nerd news and even more! Recorded live-to-tape on National Ants on a Log Day, 2021!! Direct Donloyd Here Got a movie suggestion for the show, or better yet an opinion on next week's movies? • JFD582: Man Bites Dog, Antfarm Dickhole, The Act of Killing
Holy smokes! It's that time of year again?! And we're ACTUALLY DOING IT THIS TIME?!!@ You got that right, pal. Buckle up, we're ghoul-summering this week! This year's Ghoul Summer made possible by the DuPont Chemical Corporation and listeners like you. You and DuPont: there's a lot of good chemistry between us! BUY A GHOUL SUMMER SHIRT HERE! Up first! It's 1992's Man Bites Dog, a black & white Belgian pseudo-documentary/comedy ... from the Criterion Collection? Did we get that right? Well, since it's comedically pseudo-documenting the horrific day-to-day exploits of a serial killer, it definitely counts! Laugh along with us until we recoil in disgust. Next up! There's only ONE filmmaker that Parker Bowman is willing to pledge lifelong Ghoul Summer allegiance, but until now he's been officially banned from selecting one of that filmmaker's finest films. That filmmaker, of course, is Bill Zebub, and the film is Antfarm Dickhole (from 2011), and since the guy who banned Parker from picking it is now a ghost, all bets are off. Will we be charmed by these ants or these dickholes? Finally! Of course, it's 2012's The Act of Killing, that documentary where the real-world perpertrators of the Indonesian genocide recreate their heinous crimes decades later for the delight of a pervese British man. Also on Criterion!! All this plus a ghoul winter proposal, a lightning round of topics, the high price of 'Hired Stud, Will Travel', Parker's extracuricular ghouldom, multiple Toms, funky triple-x, repeat business, the sadness of Kevin, anteater effects, chemical mishaps, podcasting crossovers, a t-shirt for the ages, Peter Pan: Dick Magnet, here comes Parker with the giggles again, taro-flavored ultra-milk, all of the segments played exactly one time, ethical quandries, nerd news and even more! Recorded live-to-tape on National Can Opener Day, 2021!! Direct Donloyd Here Got a movie suggestion for the show, or better yet an opinion on next week's movies? Drop us a line at [email protected].
