  • JFD Rewind #8 - Rewindin' thru the Years
It's time for JFD Rewind Episode Number Eight! As we perfunctorily/redundantly explain at the head of each of these annual compilation clip shows, your charming Junk Food Dinner hosts are unwilling and/or unable to perform their regular duties in this very hectic holiday time period. However, as has been explained prior, this inability to produce a new weekly show does not preclude us from our obligation to deliver some form of audio content to the feed. So it's come to this again: yet another?!?!! Junk Food Dinner clip show. As we're fond of both the elements of surprise and laziness, we'll forgo the usual descriptors here as to what the actual contents of this cut-and-pasted effort truly are. If you're the sort of curious cat who'd actually donloyd this thing, you'll listen along with us and discover what made the cut for this year's compilation. And if not, you could still pretend you did and probably fool us. That said, we jammed some true JFD treasures into this year's edition, just because we love y'all so much. If y'all love what ya hear, sign up for our Patreon thing to throw us a few bones (in exchange for some boners). All this plus witty banter between friends, ghosts of podcast friendship, beast mode Kevin, zero Nerd Newsies, no week's DVD & blu-ray releases, partial confidentiality, continued lack of overt police involvement, synchronized robot voices, overlong musical interludes, rogue boners, wanton sneezes, spooky belches, sinister gleeks and too much more! Direct Donloyd Here Got a movie suggestion for the show, want to give your opinion on a movie we talked about or just want to tell us we suck? Drop us a line at [email protected]. Or leave us a voicemail: 347-746-JUNK (5865). Also, if you like the show, please take a minute and subscribe and/or comment on us on iTunes, Stitcher, Blubrry or Podfeed.net. We'd love to see some of your love on Patreon - it's super easy and fun to sign up for the extra bonus content. We'll relitigate the cola wars for your love and support.

  • JFD598: The GLO Friends Save Christmas, Siskel & Ebert Holiday Gift Guide (1987), Dave Foley's The True Meaning Of Christmas Specials
We're getting into the holiday spirit this week by slipping into some comfortable shorts, but not just any shorts, Christmas-themed shorts! That's right, this week we have three short-length watches to help get you ready for Christmas!  Up first we have an animated TV special from 1985 about a group of illuminated insects and one clumsy moose who have to save Santa Claus from an evil witch and her talking scarf in The GLO Friends Save Christmas.  Next, America's most famous film critics run down all the videos and gizmos you should have gotten from Christmas (but probably didn't) in 1987 in the Siskel & Ebert Holiday Gift Guide.  And finally, the star of Kids In The Hall and News Radio, Dave Foley, tries to make the ultimate holiday special but realizes it's harder than it looks in The True Meaning Of Christmas Specials from 2002.  All this plus what kind of holiday pornos has Kevin been watching, Christmas cookie and eggnog chat, a tribute to the queen of the goths, the Thora Birch update, step-dad Vinny revelations and so much more. • JFD597: Murder at the Vanities, SLC Punk, Skinned Deep
Backstage beauties, mormon punkers, and retro redneck rampages - this week's episode has truly got it all! Up first! It's 1934's grandma musical Murder at the Vanities, perhaps one of the first films to combine the allure of sexy ladies and scary violences. And how sexy they are! But will that be enough to appeal to Kevin and Parker's inner grandpa? Next up! Those wacky mormons sure do know how to party, huh? It's your college roommate's favorite punkrock coming-of-age flick, SLC Punk (from 1998). Sure, the beer is weak, but these punksters are wicked as heck. Finally! Of course, it's 2004's Skinned Deep, the Texas Chainsaw clone you never knew you wanted (and maybe you don't). It combines retro-retroism, extreme gore, and fisheye-lensed redneck interiors laced with Super Nintendos. Sound appealing? All this plus our baby boy Bowman's all grown up, Crazy 4 Swayze chats, the Pincinnati Newsflash, the straight-edgers go batso, Sean's mormon roommates, what can we learn from Earth Crisis?, the rules and regulations of amusement machines, no funny raggamuffins, nerd news and even more! • JFD595: Lucifer Rising, Playboy's Roller Disco & Pajama Party, Next Floor
Hope everyone's having a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend, Junkies. The boys ate too much so now they have to take off their pants and slip into so comfortable shorts. Short films, that is!  Up first, legendary underground short filmmaker Kenneth Anger brings us his occult, psychedelic opus Lucifer Rising from 1972/1980. Featuring music by infamous Manson Family murderer Bobby Beausoleil and starring Marianne Faithfull, Chris Jagger and Jimmy Page this Satanic-themed trip has become quite notorious for its visual style and troubled history.  Then, in 1979 ABC aired an hour long prime-time special entitled Playboy's Roller Disco & Pajama Party. Hosted by Family Feud's Richard Dawson, the special featured live performances by The Chuck Mangione Quartet and The Village People as well as cameos by Jim Brown, James Caan, Ruth Buzzi and of course, a whole lot of Playboy Playmates.  Finally, we take a look at a 2008 short film by filmmaker Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Blade Runner 2049) about a group of rich people eating a ridiculous meal and falling through several floors of a high rise building in Next Floor. All this plus Thanksgiving meal ideas, Sean's financial issues, Goof Lumps, new footage of The Stuff found, multiple cuts of Phantom of the Mall, the guy from American Werewolf sings "Makin' It" and so much more. • JFD594: Altered States, Hard Core Logo, Breakdown
We're handing over the reigns again to our beloved Patreon Pals this week, and they've selected a trio of wild cult flicks for us to watch and discuss! Up first! It's 1980's Altered States, Ken Russell's psychedelic freak-out flick starring a young John Hurt and multi-eyed goat. Listen for our third eyes opening about halfway through the review. (appreciate the pick, Zach!) Next up! Those wacky Canadians sure do know how to make a mockumentary, eh? It's Quentin Tarantino's favorite punk canucksploitation travelogue, Hard Core Logo (from 1996). Sure, the title is god-awful, but the movie must be better, right? (thanks for picking it, Randy!) Finally! Of course, it's 1997's Breakdown, the wife-snatching Kurt Russell nailbiter with the killer RV/truck crash sequence. How in the world we never review this until now is beyond us. (we see you, Brendon!) All this plus a shirt-rippin' good time at the Warhammer table, printed puritanical propaganda, a nose full of meat, shout outs to Hollywood Chinese & John Tarzan, a burp or two, Kevin Mossman's never-ending Horror-themed Restaurants tour, no funny raggamuffins, nerd news and even more! • JFD591: Eyes of a Stranger, Fatal Exposure, Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Happy Halloween, Junkies! It's the final week of Schlocktober and we've got the perfect mix of movie chats and funny goofs to spice up your holiday. As demanded by YOU, the listener: it's Slasher Week! And we're joined by friend of the show JUSTIN! Up first! It's 1981's Eyes of a Stranger, the Miami-set slasher that features SFX from an young-ish Tom Savini and silent terrors from a young Jennifer Jason Leigh. But how many translucent masks does it really contain? Donloyd and find out. Next up! Those wacky folks who brought you The Wonderful World of Disney and Faces of Death II (really!) bring us the highly-erotic and super-gory Fatal Exposure (from 1989). This film is considered essential viewing for fans of nipple torture, face melting, and portrait photography. Plus, it's got a hunky soap opera guy playing Jack the Ripper's great-great-grandson or something like that! Finally! Of course, it's 1994's Wes Craven's New Nightmare, the movie that ruined Freddy Krueger for one of your three hosts. But which of the hosts?! The best way to find out is to listen (the worst way is reading tea leaves). All this plus Kevin's in beast mode, fictional belltowers, Sean runs down his weekly viewing, the official assessments of quality for Dune and Halloween Kills, videostore names, amateur-grade podcast host skills (at best), minor Gonzo background chatter, Parker's affection for Fred Durst films turns out to be steeped in irony, the dangers of being within earshot of a rotary telephone, no funny raggamuffins, nerd news and even more!
