  • JFD616: Carnival of Souls, Wolfpack, Dance with Death
Another week, another episode of Junk Food Dinner. And this week the boys go down a spooky path of undead ghouls, fascist football players and stripper murdering serial killers.  Up first, a young woman survives a car crash (or does she?) and takes a job as a church organist, but she begins having creepy visions and the feeling she is being stalked by a ghoul from beyond the grave in the black and white classic Carnival of Souls from 1962.  Then, a young man moves to a new town and joins the high school football team only to find that his teammates have adopted some fascist techniques to deal with undesirable students and win games in Wolfpack from 1987.  And finally, a reporter goes undercover as a stripper in order to get a scoop on the serial killer that has been praying on exotic dancers in Dance with Death from 1992. All this plus, Parker's TV gripes, Bill Perkins chat, streaming stats and figures, hot new blu-rays and so much more! • JFD615: The New Kids, Mortuary Academy, Office Killer
It's a journey for the ages this week, Junkies, as we explore the horrors of high school, college, and the workplace! Up first! It's Sean Cunningham's rarely discussed mid-80s rural Florida thriller The New Kids, (aka Striking Back) from 1985! It's that one where Lori Laughlin and the other kid beat the crap out of James Spader and those other dudes in a decrepit Santa Claus themed theme park. Remember? Next up! Everyone's favorite actors, Paul Bartel and Mary Woronov return to the screen with a Police Academy style send-up of the funeral home industry entitled Mortuary Academy (from 1988)! It's got a lot of puns, some on-screen rapping, and has been compared favorably to Hamburger the Motion Picture by at least one of the JFD hosts. Finally! Of course, it's 1997's Office Killer, from esteemed fine art photographer Cindy Sherman. How could we not review a movie where Carol Kane goes batso and attacks Molly Ringwald? All this plus Sean's surprise visitor, unwanted baseball chats, Easter candies and Easter regrets, medium skype factors, ruminations on an Armenian film classic, horror folks, the world's biggest Marvel zombie, why aren't they making Draculer for god's sake?, lighting as character, podcast jazz, cats pulling the plug, anti-work groups, nerd news and even more! • JFD614: Heroes of the East, Beverly Hills Cop 3, Censor
We've got three more picks from our Patreon friends this week. First, a Chinese fighter challenges all of Japan in the Shaw Brothers' Heroes of the East. Next, Axel Foley returns to California to follow a killer to an amusement park in Beverly Hills Cop 3. Finally, a British censor falls deep into the Video Nasties aisle in Censor. All this plus Gilbert Gottfried chat, Munsters Chat, Secret David Lynches?, New Patreons, Junk Mails, Kyle from Kentucky and so much more! Donloyd Here

  • JFD613: Suspense, Bambi Meets Godzilla/Thank You, Mask Man, Heat Vision & Jack
Spring has sprung, Junkies and what better way to celebrate the warmer weather than by slipping into some comfortable shorts! That's right, it's short films week once again here on JFD.  Up first, we're going old school. REALLY old school. As we take a look at one of the many short films by pioneering female filmmaker Lois Weber, Suspense from 1913. Written, directed and starring Weber, the groundbreaking short tells the tale of a home invasion and a husbands frantic race to save his wife.  Next, we get an animation two-fer as we look at the brief but memorable Bambi Meets Godzilla from 1969 as well as another cult cartoon short from the same era Thank You, Mask Man based on a comedy routine from Lenny Bruce.  And finally, we examine the pilot for TV show called Heat Vision & Jack, directed by Ben Stiller and starring Jack Black as a former astronaut who became super smart by flying to close to the sun. Also, his best friend (played by Owen Wilson) has been turned into a motorcycle. Together they have to outrun government agents and possibly aliens who are out to get them. All this plus Parker's adventures in legitimate theatre, Tom's Aussie recommendations, Hatless Jackson's Tuscon tips, roasting dead kung fu legends, questionable Gaspar Noe release dates and much more! • JFD612: JFD Turns 12 Years Old!
Hey, Junkies! We survived yet another year, once again?!! Well, that can mean only one thing: it's time for another JFD Anniversary show! As per our contractually-mandated "tradition", we'll spend this week reviewing the entire past year's worth of movies, instead of limiting ourselves to three measly "new" reviews. Tune in and be glued to your sets as your charming podcast friends chat and debate our top 5 favorite and bottom 5 least favorite movies of the past year! All this plus our blu's and news picks, the formative years of a young man, pre and post-grunge music chats featuring Obese Daryl and the Boys, vest to impress, absent parents, Duckman: a DVD Odyssey, a Horrorhound Cincinnati report, a trio of interesting picks from The Fallen One, Parker calls someone the FYE word, Oscarmania: Big Willy vs Rock, Kevin battles a demon inside of his Skype connection, a shout-out to our good friend K. Lorber and nothing else! Direct Donloyd Got a movie suggestion for the show, or better yet an opinion on next week's movies? Drop us a line at [email protected]. • JFD610: The Big Sleep, Nightmare Alley, The Big Clock
Grab a bottle of hooch, a pack of smokes, your finest suit and a gun because it's NOIRch, a special week in March where we look at three classic film noirs from the 1940's. Up first Humphrey Bogart is a private dick investigating blackmail, double crossing and murder among a wealthy family in The Big Sleep from 1946. Then, Tyrone Power is a carnival performer who dupes patrons into believing he has psychic powers. But when he gets greedy and tries to con a wealthy family out of their money, he quickly gets in over his head in Nightmare Alley from 1947. And finally Ray Milland works for a popular crime magazine, but when a young woman is murdered, his boss (Charles Laughton) assigns him to find the guy she was last with in The Big Clock from 1948. • JFD609: The Wild Bunch, Play Misty For Me, Arcade
Kevin's goofing off this week at his annual Bostonian Birthday Bash, so we reached out to the one and only (hatless) Jackson Stewart (of Beyond the Gates renown!) to fill in while we chat about three killer classics. Up first! It's Sam Peckinpah's classic revisionist western The Wild Bunch, from 1969! A band of outdated outlaws spill sweat and blood in equal parts into the Mexican desert, and boy has it never looked so danged gorgeous. But will grandpa-skeptic Parker Bowman dig these cowboys? Next up! Clint Eastwood stars and directs (for the first time!) with Play Misty For Me (from 1971)! A suspenseful psychosexual 70s thriller set up in the Big Sur region of Central California, some critics (on this podcast) have noted the bizarre haircuts of the leading actors as worth taking notice of. Finally! Of course, it's 1993's Arcade, because Parker's obsession with VR-based content continues, even when it's produced by Full Moon Pictures. All this plus cutting it up with the boys, vintage wallpapers, a podcaster's fatal fate, the return of Nightmare Fede, a vampiric inquiry, sun-bronzed beach boy (not beach bum) bonanzas, Don Siegel sidebars, bad VR, a check-in with the junkmailers, virtual Kevin, your winning numbers, nerd news and even more!
