  • JFD391: Cape Fear, The Lift, Death Note
It's a Cranksgiving miracle! The JFD boys are back with a trio of original films. And they'll be back next week to discuss their remakes! First, Robert Mitchum serves up some southern-style revenge against a man who testified against him in 1962's "Cape Fear." Next, Dick Mass (lol) brings us a terrifying tale of a homicidal elevator, that leaves us asking- "who are the REAL elevators?" in "The Lift" from 1983. Finally, a Japanese kid is given the gift of a notebook that murders anyone who's name is written in it in 2006's "Death Note." All this plus Fury Road chat, DVDs, Nerd News, Justice League chat, Voicemails, is Wayne part of the family? and so much more! • JFD390: Used Cars, Class of 1999, Attack the Gas Station
It's our monthly Patreon donor picks show as we take a look at three movies picked by those special folks who are brave enough to put their money where their mouth is! Up first, Kurt Russell and Gerrit Graham are two sleazy used car salesman who have to pull some wild stunts to move automobiles after their owner (Jack Warden) dies and the owner of a rival car lot (also Jack Warden) tries to put them out of business in Used Cars from 1980 directed by Robert Zemeckis. Next, in the grim future of 1999, gangs have taken over schools all over the country so a government opportunist played by Stacy Keach decides to try and whip the students into shape with the aid of cyborg killing machines programmed to be teachers (including Pam Grier) in Class of 1999 from 1990 directed by Mark L. Lester. And finally, a gang of hoodlums take the employees of a gas station hostage and run the pumps and cause trouble over the course of a night in the 1999 Korean action comedy Attack the Gas Station. All this plus witty banter between friends, did Earthquake see 9/11? Killer Queen chat, a retro Junk Mail voicemail, our world famous weekly Nerd News and Blu-ray Picks, continued lack of overt police involvement, and a whole lot more! • JFD389: Troma's War, Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D, Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV
It's a traumatic Trovember theme show! Three (tragically theatrically-toxic) tales of tape-tangling terror tear through our tastebuds this time as we try to temper the troublingly tempting tastelessness of their tremendously twisted tableaus! Tackle a trinity of Troma triumphs with your boys! First up! Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz weave a tale (sadly) as old as time - a tale of mortal conflict between sworn enemies - this is, of course, Troma's War from 1988. A moralistic fable with allusions to fierce critques of Reagan's America, it provided the basis for many teenage political commentators marijuana-baked parking-lot ramblings for months to come. Lots of machine gun fire. Next! It's 1990's Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D., which is about a New York cop who (hilariously!) transforms into a were-Asian at night, allowing him to fight crime most effectively behind a Kabuki mask. You know, it was back in the day when these kinds of things could fly. It's also got a penis puppet monster! Finally, we talk about the only Toxic Avenger movie ever made, Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV, from 2000! Starring Corey Feldman, this vehicle for the ol' Feldster may not have been given its proper due on original release. But with such a surge of interest in The CF in the current zeitgeist, could now finally be the time people start discussing the importance of this film? Is this something we'll even talk about? All this plus witty banter between reunited podcats, Disney's Marvel Presents: Thor Ragnachats, Takashi Miike's 100th film, a Vietname shake-up, a Mexican shake-down, our weekly news and Blu-ray Picks, funny Skype business, no audible mention of police involvement, all-wet sneezes, super-mega belches, rides which can be given to others, regular armpit farts, no benefits of notcasting, all your trailer needs in one place, lowfat vegetable gleeks and a whole lot more! • JFD388: Pet Sematary, Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace, Night Flier
We're back like a cat buried in an old cemetery! Well, except for Kevin, who has become a Luchador, so Mike from VRTL Pros is filling in for him. This week, we visit 3 randomly picked movies based on Stephen King books. Mostly. First, a man buries his cat in an Indian Burial Ground because his elderly drunk neighbor tells him to in "Pet Sematary." Sometimes, is dead better? Next, Job returns to a Blade Runner-esque future to conquer the virtual world in "Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace." Finally, a Weekly World News reporter investigates a string of airport-based murders that may have been committed by a vampire in "Night Flier." Spoiler: It's obviously a vampire. All this, plus Wrestle Chat, Corn Gorn Chat, Elvira Chat, Nerd News, I'll Give you a Ride, DVDs, Utility Infielders for the Boston Red Sox and so much more! • JFD387: The Manitou, Strange Invaders, Night of the Demons 2
With Halloween a mere few days away, JFD gets some tricks and treats from our Patreon pals as we look at three spooky flicks to get you in the spirit of the season. Up first, Susan Strasberg plays a woman with an unusual growth on the back of her neck but when doctors discover it's an evil Native American midget growing in her body, it's up to her psychic friend (played by Tony Curtis) to save her (and the world) in The Manitou from 1977. Next, a Columbia University professor travels to a small midwestern town looking for his ex-wife who has disappeared but discovers a secret alien conspiracy. He teams up with a tabloid journalist (Nancy Allen) and a mental patient (Michael Lerner) to stop the evil saucer men in in Strange Invaders from 1983. And finally, a group of horny Catholic school kids make another trip to Hull House to throw a Halloween bash but the demon spirit of Angela still haunts the premises in Night of the Demons 2 from 1994 directed by Australia's gift that keeps on giving, Brian Trenchard-Smith. All this plus witty banter between friends, Halloween candy chat, fireworks chat, an in depth look at The Snowman and Tyler Perry's Boo 2! A Madea Halloween, our world famous weekly Nerd News and Blu-ray Picks, continued lack of overt police involvement, and a whole lot more! • JFD386: The Exorcist, Exorcist II: The Heretic, The Exorcist III
Can grampa movies really be scary? We're finding out this week with our Exorcist theme show. And as an old man in a convenience store might tell you, this is one of them Oscar-winnin' horror movies! And it's got some sequels of variable quality that are also discussed, all together with extra special guest Mark Freado live from the Big Apple New York City! First up! William Friedken's seminal horror film The Exorcist from 1973, scared the crap out of a lot of people on its initial release, but can this tale of a young girl possessed by Satan still shock and offend? Even if it can't, we've got jokes about pea soup! Next! It's 1977's Exorcist II: The Heretic, and the less said about it, the better. It does a star Linda Blair, though! Finally, there aren't any more Exorcist movies to talk about after we discuss The Exorcist III, from 1990! Brad Dourif shows up in this movie based on a non-Exorcist book (Legion), that was written and then directed by ol' Blatty, the author of the original Exorcist book, which was then transformed into an Exorcist movie. Confused? Listen and we'll sort you out. All this plus witty banter between reunited podcats, Mike Dikk vaping in the corner, lots of movie stuff happenin', just fartin' around on the Internet, sick Hock' upgrades, rating callers on that Boob Scale, Wayne is a piece of shit with no meaning in life, shouldn't a horror channel be a no-brainer?, our favorite theatrical splash zones, pinky-out prestige horror films, our weekly news and Blu-ray Picks, no mention of police involvement, all-wet sneezes, super-mega belches, sideways armpit farts, the retold benefits of podcasting, unbrominated vegetable gleeks and a whole lot more! • JFD385.5: An Exercise in Exorcism
What an excellent day for an exorcism! It would bring us together. The Power of Christ compels you to listen along as we attempt to review three films that may or may not carry with them some kind of "death curse." Will we succeed in reviewing these movies, or will some terrible fate befell us? You'll be able to tell pretty easily from the runtime on this episode! All this plus witty banter between reunited podcats, we give the MoviePass people a little piece of our mind, movies we don't wanna pay for, Harry Hole, Parker Bowman will pay for Boo the Madea Movie, the toe-tapping triumph of Tomorrow, unbrominated vegetable gleeks and a whole lot more! Six Six Six! The Number of the Beast! Schlocktober continues with The Omen week! And we welcome our new anti-christ! First, a man adopts an orphan who may be the son of Satan, on account of all the mysterious murders in Richard Donner's "The Omen." Next, the anti-christ enrolls in military academy and learns a lot of dates and facts and stuff in "Damien: the Omen II." And anti-climatically, Damien, played by Sam Neill, is a business owner who is afraid that Jesus will kill him in "The Final Conflict." All this plus Nerd News, creeps, DVDs, Sean watched every movie, more Psycho chat, Jim Bakker, Mother!, Blade Runner Chat, and so much more! • JFD384: Psycho, Psycho II, Psycho III
It's the greatest time of year; Schlocktober is upon us and we kick off this year's festivities by bringing on Jackson Stewart, director of Beyond the Gates, to discuss 3 flicks about Norman Bates and his mommy issues. Up first, we examine the original black and white Alfred Hitchcock  classic, where Janet Leigh checks into an off-the-beaten-path motel after stealing $40,000 from her job only to fall victim to the motel's proprietor Norman Bates, played by Anthony Perkins. This bonafide masterpiece ushered  in a new era of slashers. Get ready for the shower scene, kids, it's Psycho from 1960. Next, 23 years later, after Hitchcock had died, Universal revived the series exploring the further misadventures of Norman Bates after he is released from prison and returns to his infamous motel only to have his murderous urges return in Psycho II from 1983. And finally, Anthony Perkins expands his role, now acting as director and star of Psycho III from 1986. This time Norman is back to his old tricks after a drifter played by Jeff Fahey comes to work at the Bates Motel and young women start to end up dead. All this plus witty banter between friends, more Mother! chat, is Parker becoming a grandpa?, Psycho songs, our world famous weekly Nerd News and Blu-ray Picks, continued lack of overt police involvement, and a whole lot more! • JFD383: Lady in a Cage, Midnight Cowboy, Cemetery Man
Crawl on up outta the water, creepy Patreon pals! It's our slimy Dom Deluise patreon donors show! This week we're delivering you three reviews of wild cult flicks chosen exclusively by our $10 a month donors! If you don't know about that jazz yet be sure to check out our world-famous Patreon Page. It'll be the one good thing you can feel good about this year. First up! Our man Paul M's got an unexpectly rough sixties flick to send our way. It's the proto-home-invasion thriller Lady in a Cage from 1964, starring Olivia de Havilland and a young James Caan. When a rich, lonesome housewife is stuck in her in-home elevator system, all bets are off and just about any drunk dude could show up to steal her wine. Look out for creepy facemasks! Next! It's 1969's coming-to-the-city, coming-of-age, coming-in-a-movie-theater-seat classic Midnight Cowboy, and it's really wild we haven't covered this one yet. Jon Voight plays a male gigolo cowboy, guided through the mean streets of New York by Dustin Hoffman. You know, something we can all relate to. Thanks to Elise for picking this classic! Finally, there aren't any monster fishmen to be found in 1994's Cemetery Man, although that might be the only creepy plot device not to surface in this weirdo flick. Michele Soavi's surreal graveyard-set Italian horror flick blends several surprise elements into a single spookshow - including floating severed heads! And if you don't like it, well, it's all listener Brandon's fault! All this plus witty banter between reunited podcats, reaching out to that ASMR community, Matthew Sweetman shampoos our hair, Sean Byron or Sean Bronson?, our main man in Austin Ricky, Sloppy Seconds Chat (a new segment), Unspiking television networks, how in the world did we all accept that Manswers was a real TV show?, just how gross are the creeps in the cult film community?, Parker's ever-increasing maturity level, the secret history of Punchliners, our weekly news and Blu-ray Picks, the unfortunate specter of police involvement, all-wet sneezes, super-mega belches, sideways armpit farts, the retold benefits of podcasting, unbrominated vegetable gleeks and a whole lot more!
