  • JFD313: Communion
It's a California adventure as the JFD boiz meet up IRL in LA to watch lucha libre and eat fried chicken. Then there's a knock on the door. Who could that be? Holy shit! It's everybody's favorite Bay Area podcast bros Cory and Shelby from Illogical Contraption Radio! Now it's a fuckin' party! For our first and only movie this week, Shelby brings us the "true story" of Whitley Strieber (hammed up to perfection by Christopher Walken at his Walken-est), a writer who is haunted by his intimate encounter with creatures from another world in Communion from 1989. Plus we eat a bunch of snacks for Chow Yum Chat and crinkle the wrappers right into the mic! We have Siqq Piqqs for movies or books that got us believing in aliens! Ghost stories! Marriage proposals! Beard love! Cory-oke! And much more! LISTEN NOW: MP3 Direct Donloyd Got a movie suggestion for the show, want to give your opinion on a movie we talked about or just want to tell us we suck? • JFD312: Sexandroide, Destroyer, Dream a Little Dream 2
It's the eve of a Cinco de Junk Food in-person cross-podcasting meet-up extravaganza, and excitements are running high. The only things that could stoke the flames of our cult movie related ferver even higher is a calendar-mandated exploration of this week's three weird-ass flicks. Join us this week to hear three men at the edge of their movie watching limits. First up! Mutilation, sex, and Tina Turner collide in the softcore s&m French sleaze fest Sexandroide from 1987! Recently released by Massacre Video, this is the film that caused some to cry aloud that Ghoul Spring had arrived. Up next! Psycho homages (and homages to just about everything else) abound in this hybrid women-in-prison/action/slasher/thriller from 1988 - it could only be Destroyer! It's one of those things where someone's trying to make a movie in a jail, but those people are getting killed off by an ex-con who survived an electrocution there years earlier. Starring football player turned muscle-bound genre actor Lyle Alzado, this is probably where Wes Craven stole parts of Shocker from! Finally! The sequel they said shouldn't happen. Dream A Little Dream 2 from 1995. It's six years later. It still has two Cory's. Parker picked it. All this plus witty banter between friends, party pre-planning, Junk Mails from Down Under, Sean's Wind Tunnel Experiment, Cory's Musical Slashfic Continued, The Sweetest Man Alive, alzheimer's mishaps, there's a ghost inside Sean's soundboard and nobody can exterminate it, nipple tortures, prison scandals, half-assed Lynchianisms, Nerd News & DVD Picks, continued lack of overt police involvement, sneezes, belches, gleeks and a whole lot more! • JFD311: Double Agent 73 (Audio Commentary)
Hey, Junkies! We're reviewing our 900th movie this week. Where does the time go, eh? The movie was chosen by you guys. And you chose Doris Wishman's Double Agent 73 (1974)... because you're perverts. WARNING: This is not a normal episode of JFD. We're doing a full audio commentary for the movie, so if this is your first time with JFD, try a different episode. Also, it makes sense to get a copy of the movie to watch along with us, otherwise when we say stuff like, "Would ya look at those hooters!" you won't know what hooters we're talking about. • JFD310: The All American Hustler, Dead Kids, It's Called Murder, Baby
This week, Kevin's out, so in his place we welcome Joe Rubin from cult film preservation and releasing company Vinegar Syndrome to discuss three flicks currently available on their streaming service Exploitation.tv.  Up first, is an early underground porno film, with very little known about it, The All American Hustler from 1972. This flick features some early 70's L.A., cropped-in sex scenes, depression and heroin use. Next, we take a look at Dead Kids (AKA Strange Behavior) from 1981. As the title would imply, this horror mystery involves slews of youngers in a small Midwestern town getting snuffed out, but who's doing it and why? And finally, we explore It's Called Murder, Baby (AKA Dixie Ray Hollywood Star in it's X-rated form) from 1983. This sexy, low-budget comedy thriller mixes early 80's exploitation with 50's noir. All this plus witty banter between friends, a behind the scenes look at the acquiring and preservation of lost exploitation movies, a voicemail from The South, depressed boners, L.A. geography, continued lack of police involvement  and a whole lot more! • JFD309: Santa Sangre, Jerkbeast, Malibu Beach
It's the episode with everything. So many things. All of the surprises. You're going to go wild for this episode. We guarantee it. First up! Severed arms, acid-bath castrations, transgendered luchadores, cocaine & dwarves collide in 1989's Santa Sangre from legendary freak-out king Alejandro Jodorowsky! Part art film, part giallo, and all weirdness, it's called "Jodorowsky's most accessible film", which is really saying something, right? We definitely spoil the crap out of the ending, so go ahead and watch this one before the show. Up next! Loud-mouthed public access monster Jerkbeast gets his own self-titled movie from 2005. Tour our beautiful nation with the Jerkbeast himself as loud things are yelled and hardcore punk music is played. It's a movie, sort of. Finally! We hit the beach with the spoiled brats of Malibu in director Robert J. Rosenthal's largely forgotten laid-back seaside hang-out picture, Malibu Beach from 1978. It's like a Van Nuys Boulevard (another Crown International Picture) set slightly west. Who could forget that Dugan? All this plus witty banter between friends, taking it to the d-box, Harrison Ford hot-takes, a certain man of sweetness, supermodel horrors, porn piracy politics, Sean drops a surprise, parker's relaxation preference, Nerd News & DVD Picks, continued lack of overt police involvement, sneezes, belches, gleeks and a whole lot more! • JFD308: Fitzcarraldo, Buckaroo Banzai, Freddy Got Fingered
We're back, Junkies! We're celebrating our 6th anniversary this week with a doozy of an episode. Instead of Nerd News and DVDs, we're running down our Top and Bottom 5 movies we've done this year. What movies did we like best? And what Ghoul Summer movies did we hate the most? Find out. Then, we hit the movies. First up, Klaus Kinski is a crazed German who wants to bring the opera to Peruvian natives in "Fitzcarraldo" from 1982. Werner Herzog tells this true-life tale of a dude who dragged a boat over a mountain by actually dragging a boat over a mountain. Next, Peter Weller is a scientist and a rock n roller in "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension." This is probably JFD's most requested movie of all time. Finally, Tom Green writes, directs and stars in a tale of following your dreams and playing with horse peens in 2001's "Freddy Got Fingered." All this, plus voicemails, Memphis Maniacs, crummy computers, visits from Wayne, Batman vs Superman Chat and so much more! • JFD307: Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown
It's our third and final Director's Week of March as we talk about the ultra violent and ultra stylized first three films of Quentin Tarantino. Up first, six blue-collar criminals plan and execute a jewel heist but when things go wrong, they quickly realize one of them is a cop in Reservoir Dogs from 1992. Tarantino directs a stellar cast including Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Steve Buscemi, Michael Madsen and Chris Penn. Next, the film you couldn't escape in the mid-90's, Pulp Fiction. Tarantino's iconic character study of the lives of criminals and low-lifes inspired a whole generation of filmmakers and film watchers. Another incredible cast including John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Uma Thurman and Ving Rhames. Finally, Tarantino adapt's Elmore Leonard's Rum Punch into a gritty ode to blaxploitation films with Jackie Brown from 1997. Starring the always fantastic Pam Grier as the title character who suckers both gangsters and cops to score a half a million bucks and avoid jail time. As you'd expect, another top notch cast featuring Samuel L. Jackson, Robert De Niro, Robert Forster, Michael Keaton and Bridget Fonda. All this plus witty banter between friends, the wacky world of seeing Crispin Glover live, horror convention chat, should kids be allowed in R-rated movies?, the death of Dr. Giggles, brain chat, Nerd News and Blu-Ray Picks, continued lack of police involvement (unless we're slicing off their ears) and a whole lot more! • JFD306: Blue Velvet, The Straight Story, Mulholland Drive
Well, strap on your nitrous oxide mask and prepare to zoom in on a slow motion match lighting. It's our second director theme show of the month as Sean brings us three of his favorite David Lynch films! The only thing that could be more exciting is the fact we're joined by Jason "Razor Babes" Frisbie of Pool Party Radio fame! First up! Kyle MacLachlan and Laura Dern are innocent small town kids who uncover the sick and twisted underbelly of suburban American, epitomized by Dennis Hopper and his gang of drug-dealing, sexually-abusing thugs (including Jack Nance, Brad Dourif, and Dean Stockwell). Featuring a great performance from Isabella Rosalini and classic soundtrack tracks from Roy Orbison and Bobby Vinton, it's David Lynch's landmark 1986 neo-noir, Blue Velvet! Up next! You may not have realized that David Lynch directed a heart-warming G-rated true-story family drama for Disney in 1999, but he sure did and it's definitely called The Straight Story. It stars Richard Farnsworth and Sissy Spacek. These are all true facts, we promise. But is it worth watching, or would we ride a lawn mower across state boundaries to escape it? Finally! Mulholland Drive (1999)? That's where I was going! All this plus witty banter between friends, off-color humor, our gateways to Lynchdom, secret 8mm tapes, Parker Bowman's curse against David Bowie, Skype Noise Strikes Back, VVitch Chats, dead armadillos, teenager Johnny Dingle, Nerd News & DVD Picks, continued lack of overt police involvement, sneezes, belches, gleeks and a whole lot more! • JFD305: Slacker, Dazed & Confused, Before Sunrise
Hey, junkies. We're kicking off the first part of a series where each one of your hosts gets his own show to talk up his favorite director. This week is Parker's favorite director: Richard Linklater. We're going chronologically and first up is his first movie: "Slacker" from 1991. The experimental film follows bohemian eccentric Austin, Texas natives as they walk. And talk. And ... that's about it. Next, is "Dazed and Confused," probably Linklater's most well-known film. The movie's got an all-star cast (Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey, Milla Jovovich, Parker Posey, etc.) who play teens who walk. And talk. And get very very high. Finally, Ethan Hawke is an American on vacation who meets Julie Delpy, a French lady, and they spend a night together in Vienna in "Before Sunrise." All this, plus Nerd News, DVDs, Dorm Chat, Poster Chat, Cool Guy News, Face to Face Chat, and tons of super more stuff.
