Guest Bio – Kaytlyn Gerbin:
Kaytlyn is a trail and ultrarunner living just outside of Seattle, Washington. Since running her first 50k in 2014, she's been a top 10 finisher at Western States 3 years in a row placing as high as 2nd, she was top 10 in the Trail World Championships in 2018, and holds course records in races from 50k to 100 mile including the Bear 100. Earlier this year, she won the 6-day Coastal Challenge in Costa Rica and bested her 2nd place finish last year to win this year's edition of the Transgrancanaria. When she's not racing, she's exploring the mountains off-trail by ski touring, mountaineering, and using her love of ultra-endurance to knock out long objectives in the mountains. Last summer, she and her partner became the fist all-female team to complete the Rainier Infinity Loop in Washington.
She also holds a PhD in Bioengineering, and works as a research scientist at a non-profit research institute in Seattle.
