Ken Marslew suffered the unthinkable. Receiving the news that his 18 year old son, Michael had been shot in the head at point blank range during a robbery became the catalyst for Ken to launch Enough Is Enough, an anti-violence organisation that today works with victims and offenders to achieve what so often the criminal justice system fails to.
Understandably, Ken wanted to do what any father would... he wanted to kill the killers, bring back the death penalty, or take matters into his own hands. In the end Ken chose to kill killers with kindness - in a sense.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who struggles to fathom how a father might ever get past the pain, anguish and hatred towards his son's killers. That he could ever afford them compassion over revenge and 'an eye for an eye'.
This conversation with Ken was so raw and honest as he spoke of how he moved through the (much warranted) desire to see his son's murderers come to the same fate (and play a part in that happening), yet here we are today as Ken breaks the cycle of 'treating trauma with trauma' and offers a new and much more effective solution.
