Taiwan Lighthouse Becomes National Heritage

A lighthouse more than 100 years old is now officially part of Taiwan's history.

A lighthouse (燈塔) is a high building with a very powerful light at the top.

Lighthouses are mostly built close to the sea.

The strong light helps ships know where land is.

Or they help ships stay away from danger like sharp rocks and reefs (礁石).

The lighthouse on Pengjia Islet has been doing this for 113 years!

And it will be declared a part of Taiwan's national cultural heritage.

彭佳嶼燈塔通過文化部的審議，將升格為國定古蹟。

The lighthouse was built in 1909.

It is a white tower that's about 26 meters tall.

The lighthouse is on Pengjia Islet, which is a small piece of land north of Keelung.

It has been a part of important times in Taiwan's history.

If you look closely, you can see marks on the lighthouse made when it was bombed by airplanes in World War II.

彭佳嶼燈塔經歷超過百年的歷史，在第二次世界大戰時曾遭盟軍轟炸，塔頂還看得到當時掃射的痕跡。

Four people take turns to stay at the lighthouse a month at a time through the year.

To get there, they have to take a boat for three hours.

And they must bring with them all the things they need for a month.

But the lighthouse is not open for outside visitors.

Giant Strawberry Sets World Record

Strawberries are a popular (受歡迎的) fruit.

Some people like to eat fresh strawberries.

And we often see them on birthday cakes.

But one strawberry is so heavy, that it might break the cake!

The giant strawberry was grown by a farmer in Israel.

It was 18 centimeters long.

And it weighed 289 grams.

That means this one strawberry was as heavy as three apples…

Or more than 40 grapes!

The strawberry covered a person's hand.

Many news reports are calling the strawberry a "mammoth" (龐大的、巨無霸).

The farmer, Chahi Ariel, says he grew the strawberry last year.

He says at that time, Israel was unusually cold.

The cold weather made the strawberry ripen more slowly.

And that gave it more time to grow heavier.

Chahi Ariel說去年有一段異常寒冷的天氣，造成草莓成熟的速度放慢，讓它持續增重，才成為了這顆巨無霸草莓。

When the strawberry was ready, Chahi Ariel picked it and put it in the freezer.

He wanted to keep the strawberry and wait for the Guinness World Records to see if it could make a new record.

And it did!

The Guinness World Records announced it was officially the world's heaviest strawberry.

The last heaviest strawberry was one grown in 2015 by a man in Japan.

That berry weighed 250 grams.

Tom Holland's "Uncharted" Tops US Box Office

Tom Holland isn't playing his most famous character (角色) in his latest movie.

But the film still opened strong at the US box office (票房).

Holland's latest movie, "Uncharted," is an action-adventure which was inspired by a video game of the same name.

The movie sees Tom Holland playing a character named Nathan Drake, who works with Victor Sullivan, played by Mark Wahlberg.

湯姆霍蘭德在"秘境探險"中飾演年輕版的冒險家，展開全新的尋寶冒險故事。

Both Drake and Sullivan are trying to find a fortune which had been amassed (積聚、藏) by the Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan.

Movie critics didn't seem too impressed with "Uncharted", but movie goers don't appear to feel the same way.

It is expected to earn $51 million over the long President's Day Weekend holiday in the U.S.
