The reason for this is that Samantha’s daughter Oonagh was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was just 19 months old and their story has had a positive outcome so far, but this may have been entirely different if it was not for the support of Neuroblastoma UK, who the family are supporting with this raffle and looking to raise significant funds to help the organisations amazing work.

Producer James - who makes this show - has an iTunes Top 50 Business podcast of his own called Building The Business and on this episode Natasha shares what it has been like to be in the media spotlight for 20 years. As she shares, it was not all plain sailing. Having signed a £1,500,000 record contract at the age of just 16, Natasha was thrust into a world that was a whirlwind of touring, studios, countries… and emotions. After becoming pregnant with her first child she suffered terrible post-natal depression, but back in the early noughties there wasn’t much talk about the mental health of successful 20 year old pop stars.

013 Natasha Meets: Joe Thompson

In today’s show Natasha meets former professional footballer and two-time cancer survivor Joe Thompson. Joe is a former professional footballer.

Having been signed at the age of nine by Manchester United, he spent six years there before being released at age 16.  He soon bounced back to forge a career in the Football League, playing for top flight clubs Tranmere Rovers, Rochdale and Bury.   

Devastatingly at 23 Joe was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer, which he received treatment for and went into remission. Joe returned to football playing for Rochdale but cancer returned for a second time.

Shortly after, Joe retired from the game he loved stating: “With the intense treatment my body has had to endure over the last six years, it is no longer able to perform to the demands of the professional game.”
