Amy Packard Checketts grew up Mormon in the San Franscisco Bay Area. She is very passionate about mental health and is currently in grad school getting a masters degree in social work. Kristi Hyde (@kristithereader) is a woman who loves to read, values intuition, and is rooted in love. She spent 30 years as an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints until her faith journey brought her out of the church. While recent efforts in religious studies have focused on why many Americans seem to be leaving religion entirely, much less is understood about why many others choose to remain committed to their faith--especially when they hold many of the same social values, doubts, or divergent opinions that others cite for leaving. Within a Latter-day Saint context especially, very little research has been done to explore the experiences of those navigating the complexities of competing ethical affordances while remaining committed to their faith.

Born in Murray, UT as one of five kids, Dr. Nicholas K. Howland was raised in the LDS church. After receiving his Doctorate of Medicine at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, he now practices in Draper, UT as a board-certified plastic surgeon.

He specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery and aesthetic services, developing personalized surgical and nonsurgical treatment plans to help patients achieve their aesthetic and medical goals. He is one of the few (if not, only) plastic surgeon(s) in the SLC area to treat patients who identify as transgender.

A proficient Russian speaker, Dr. Howland's global perspective was broadened by a two-year church mission in St. Petersburg, Russia, prior to his collegiate studies. Outside the operating room, he cherishes time with his two children, whether it's at the lake or in the mountains. His hobbies include playing the piano, golfing, water and snow skiing, and he enjoys the intellectual challenge of the New York Times crossword puzzles.

Emma is a Minnesota based licensed therapist, author, and LGBTQ activist. She graduated from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota with a master's degree in marriage and family therapy and holds a B.A. in sociology with a minor in anthropology.

Haleigh Howland is a writer, musician, and survivor whose work centers on transformation and reclaiming self after trauma. Her upcoming memoir explores her experience of surviving an abusive relationship in her teens and the years of rebuilding that followed. Through honest storytelling, she examines what it means to find identity, strength, and voice after silence.

Haleigh is also the lead singer of Blood Moon Majesty, a rock project that blends raw emotion with mythic and dark feminine themes. Beyond her creative work, she’s building a space for others to explore healing and self-expression through story, music, and community. Recently featured on Writers Island, Haleigh continues to share her journey of turning pain into purpose and art.
