Locked On Avalanche - Daily Podcast On The Colorado Avalanche

The score might look like the Avalanche had this game in their grip, but that would not be entirely true. Yes, the Avs got out to a hot start taking a 3-0 lead. Things were looking great. But there was a noticeable relaxation on the part of the Avs and St. Louis, to their credit, did not quit and battled back. The Avs turned things on when they had to and behind their superstar Nathan MacKinnon's hat trick, took a 2-0 series lead with a 6-3 win.

Now the series heads to St. Louis where a much more confident Blues team despite the loss will be waiting and he Avs will likely have to do it without Nazem Kadri who leveled a brutal head shot that got him removed from the game. The series ain't over yet! Tune in and subscribe!

The Colorado Avalanche took care of business in Game 1. But now that is history. All the focus now turns to Game 2 as the Avs wants to take this series by the throat when it heads back to St. Louis. Several of the Avalanche players stated the increased capacity in the arena no doubt helped the team so expect even more of that Wednesday night.

Bowen Byram has been out several weeks due to injury and COVID related issues. He has been back at practice and is healthy and ready to go. But will Jared Bednar find a place for him in the lineup? We will find out soon! Tune in and subscribe!

This is exactly how the Colorado Avalanche wanted to start their run for a Stanley Cup, with a statement win over the St. Louis Blues. St. Louis kept it close with some great goaltending by Jordan Binnington, but when you throw 50 shots on net, good things usually happen. Nathan MacKinnon took over in the third and if not for a Gabriel Landeskog tip in would have had a hat trick all to himself in the third period alone. Speaking of Landeskog, he found himself with a goal, two assists and a fight when he stood up for teammate Mikko Rantanen, giving him the old Gordie Howe hat trick. All in all, a great start to the Avs postseason. Tune in and subscribe!

Conor McGahey was gracious enough to take time out of his busy schedule and talk with me about all things Avalanche. How the Avs have gotten to the spot they are in now ( a #1 seed and the Presidents' Trophy). Just how important it was to obtain that Trophy. How have Alex Newhook and Bowen Byram looked in the flesh? Can we expect more from Nathan MacKinnon this post season compared to last when he was a beast? Who at Altitude is the most giddy in looking forward to these playoffs?

The Colorado Avalanche did everything but score in the first period against the Los Angeles Kings and even found themselves down 1-0 at the end of the period. But, in typical Avalanche fashion, Colorado went on a rampage in the second, scoring all five goals en route to a 5-1 win and closing out their season as the best team in the NHL and claiming the Presidents Trophy. Now the real work begins as the playoffs, something the Avs have been bounced from the last three seasons, begin against a familiar foe in the St. Louis Blues on Monday. Tune in and subscribe!

The Colorado Avalanche could have claimed the President's Trophy if things went a certain way last night. Vegas needed to lose. They made it clear they had no intention on doing so and put all the pressure on the Avs. Colorado in return had no problem handling the Los Angeles Kings and are now one win away from claiming the President's Trophy. If the Colorado Avalanche have a lead heading into the third period, you can pretty much chalk up a win. Last night was the exception as the Avs, up 2-0, saw their lead dwindle away to the San Jose Sharks who put up three unanswered goals to win it, 3-2. With the Vegas Golden Knights beating Minnesota in OT and thus extending their lead over the Avs, does Colorado have enough time to catch up to Vegas? Tune in and subscribe!

Yes this is a Colorado Avalanche podcast, but when things like what happened with Tom Wilson and the Rangers happens, it needs to be talked about. Tom Wilson needs to be stopped and the NHL has shown they are doing nothing to stop him.

With the regular season winding down I thought it would be a good time to check in with some of the bigger NHL Awards and where any Colorado Avalanche players stand in winning them. The Avs should represent well come award time. Tune in and subscribe!

Not the way they drew it up, the the Colorado Avalanche needed a comeback win against the San Jose Sharks in OT to get the extra point and come within two points of Vegas who lost to the Wild. The Avalanche kept shooting themselves in the foot and San Jose kept taking advantage of bad turnovers. The Avs seemed to be running out of time, but goals by Gab Landeskog and Nazem Kadri got the game tied before winning it in OT less than a minute in to the extra time.

Let's talk about this game as well as more COVID issues for the Avs, Alex Newhook is so close to joining the team on the ice and looking at this weeks schedules for the Avs and the Knights
