Oregon Football's Kayvon Thibodeaux, after off-season reports regarding concerns about his work ethic during games, was selected #5 overall by the New York Giants in the 2022 NFL Draft. As Oregon's 8th top-10 pick all time, Thibodeaux being the Ducks' third straight top 10 pick (Herbert, Sewell) is a good look for the Oregon Football program. He also might have found a great fit in New York with Don "Wink" Martindale as his defensive coordinator.

Oregon Football has landed another recruit early in the 2023 recruiting cycle, this time it's a pass-catcher. 4-star wideout Jurrion Dickey announced his commitment to the Ducks on Monday over USC, UCLA, Washington, and Penn State. Dickey becomes the 3rd commit that Dan Lanning and his staff have obtained in next year's class so far.

On this episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin looks at big headlines from Oregon Football and Men's Basketball. Dickey is an intriguing prospect as a wideout, and it's a good sign that Oregon was able to get him over the likes of prominent offensive minds like Lincoln Riley, Chip Kelly, James Franklin, and Kalen DeBoer. Oregon Football has added another transfer who will take the field this Fall for Dan Lanning and the Ducks. This time it's a ball carrier, the second RB they've added this offseason via the portal--Mar'Keise "Bucky" Irving from the Minnesota Golden Gophers. After losing 4 running backs from last year's roster, including CJ Verdell (NFL) and Travis Dye (USC) it's no surprise to see the staff going after this position. They've also added 4-star RB Jordan James in the Class of 22' who they flipped from Georgia.

Irving joins Byron Cardwell Jr., Sean Dollars, and Noah Whittington as one of the backs who figure to see major playing time in 2022 for Dan Lanning and the Ducks. With 3 years of eligibility remaining, he could potentially become a name Oregon fans are very familiar with in the future. After leading Minnesota in all-purpose yards in 2021 as a true freshman, Irving comes to Eugene in what has all of a sudden become a competitive battle for carries in Oregon's backfield.

After previously announcing he was going to return for a second season in Eugene, Oregon Basketball G De'Vion Harmon decided to transfer to Texas Tech. With the future of Will Richardson uncertain, Harmon's departure indicates it's possible he could return to Oregon for his fifth and final year of eligibility. With the addition of Colorado G Keesawn Barthelemy, as well as incoming 5-star PG Dior Johnson in the Class of 2022, the backcourt for next season seems to be chock full of talent for Dana Altman's squad.

Dan Lanning stressed the importance of Oregon Football's Spring Game when it comes to recruiting. The Ducks had a long list of potential future Ducks in Autzen on Saturday who were treated to their first taste of an Oregon crowd. Now that the game has passed, Lanning and co. return to the recruiting trail as they look to build out the Class of 2023 with several 5-star recruits in their sights.

Going into Oregon Football's Spring Game, there were players at every unit that Duck fans were excited to see. From Seven McGee transitioning to WR (from RB) to Trikweze Bridges and Bryan Addison's respective emergences in the secondary, there were plenty of headlines going in. One of the headlines going into Oregon Football's 2022 Spring Game was the status of the quarterback room after Auburn transfer Bo Nix came in during the offseason. Thus far in Spring Practice, we have seen the 3 quarterbacks (Bo Nix, Ty Thompson, and Jay Butterfield) take reps in a way that indicates there is not yet an official starting quarterback. After Saturday's game, what became pretty clear is something many have thought for a while: Bo Nix is the leader in the clubhouse to be the starting QB as Spring Football comes to a close.

On today's episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin takes a look at some of the players who stood out the most from this past Saturday in Autzen Stadium. Yesterday's show featured a discussion on 3 highlight-reel caliber players in WRs Seven McGee/Dont'e Thornton along with OLB DJ Johnson. Today, a look at how 4-star true freshman Jahlil Florence, UCLA transfer WR Chase Cota, and LB Jackson LaDuke showcased their talent to over 42,000 fans on a sunny afternoon in Eugene.

Though the game left fans with an overall feeling of positivity and hope, it was certainly far from perfect (as Dan Lanning has accurately noted). The tight ends have a lot of promise this season for the Ducks, but struggled with some drops on Saturday. 2nd-team All-Pac 12 kicker Camden Lewis missed a couple of field goals, but did show some potential improvement in the kickoff game.

Without an official word on Will Richardson and N'Faly Dante, Oregon Basketball recently found out one more returning piece. Rovaldo Soares, a first-year with the Ducks this past year after playing at the JUCO level, is coming back to Dana Altman's team for the 2022-23 season. He never found a consistent role this past season, but could still do so next year.

Oregon Football had its first Spring Game of the Dan Lanning era, featuring a strong showing of over 42,000 fans at Autzen stadium--the first Spring Game fans have seen since 2019. After a season in which the downfield passing game was limited with Anthony Brown at quarterback, Bo Nix completed a 70-yard pass to WR Seven McGee on the first play from scrimmage. In a game where many had questions about how the offense would look, we got insight on how Oregon's offense will operate under new OC Kenny Dillingham. Including, to the delight of some Duck fans, snapping the ball to the QB from under center.

Several players impressed with standout performances, most of them on the offensive side of the ball with plenty of explosive plays. Dont'e Thornton showed some traits to former Cal WR DeSean Jackson with two long touchdowns, going over 100 yards receiving on just 3 catches. Seven McGee, who has said he idolized RB/WR De'Anthony Thomas growing up, showed an explosive versatility that was reminiscent of one of Oregon Football's most explosive offensive players.

On the defensive side of the ball, Dan Lanning has stressed the improvement that still needs to be made, and that was evident on Saturday. Though some forced turnovers made for some highlight moments, the aforementioned explosive plays came at the defense's expense. Still, a couple players on that side of the ball stood out--most notably DJ Johnson (LB/DE) who showed a lot of promise.

Dan Lanning has stressed that Saturday, April 23rd is not just the Spring Game for Oregon Football--but rather a day-long showcase of Oregon athletics that factor into recruiting in a major way.
