This is the time of year where NFL fans are assessing their team's Draft class. What do these new players mean for each team in the league?
The Jets added a class of six players. The team addressed the defensive line in the first round. Edge rusher and tackle were the third round picks. A tight end was added in the fourth round. A linebacker was selected in the fifth round, and a cornerback was the pick in round number six.
On today's podcast we look at what changes the Draft will bring for the Jets. We will discuss four in particular. These changes come in all sizes, large and small. Some changes will be immediate while others will be longer term deals. We will discuss the pass rush, special teams, run blocking, and the future of the offensive line.

The 2019 NFL Draft is now over. We spend months looking forward to it, and then it comes and goes in three days. The Jets selected six new players for 2019 and beyond between Thursday and Saturday.
The team ended up making one pick in the first, fourth, fifth, and sixth rounds along with a pair of third rounders. The class includes Quinnen Williams, Jachai Polite, Chuma Edoga, Trevon Wesco, Blake Cashman, and Blessuan Austin.
On today's podcast we will talk about what the Jets did over the weekend. Which moves look promising? Which ones seem like head scratchers. We will not know for sure how good these picks actually are until years from now, but we can offer some initial views on what the Jets did.

The first round of the 2019 NFL Draft is now in the books. The newest member of the New York Jets is Quinnen Williams, the defensive lineman from Alabama. The team kept the third overall pick and went with Williams over Josh Allen and other prospects.
Today's podcast is dedicated to discussing the pick. I think the selection of Williams was a pretty sound move. It was going to be difficult for the Jets to botch this pick outright. There were few directions the team could have gone that would have left me with no hope for this selection. Williams on paper looks like a very solid pick.
On the show I discuss some of the objections to the selection, and why I don't agree with those objections. I will also talk about how Williams fits in with the team and expectations for the coming year along with thoughts on the first round for some of the other teams.

The fun begins tonight. The 2019 NFL Draft begins. The first round is Thursday night. The next two rounds come on Friday. The final four rounds are on Saturday.
The Jets enter the evening with the third overall pick. Rumors are swirling. Will the Jets trade the pick? There is buzz about a potential deal with Washington among other teams. Will the Jets keep the pick? They might. Who will they select? The chalk pick would be one from the Nick Bosa, Josh Allen, Quinnen Williams trio. Buzz is starting to grow that the Jets might go against the chalk and pick Ed Oliver from Houston.
On today's podcast we go over the possibilities for the evening.

The 2019 NFL Draft is now just one day away from getting started. Tomorrow night we find out what the Jets will do with the third overall pick after months of speculation. To celebrate the arrival of the Draft, today we have a podcast mailbag. Thanks to everybody who submitted questions for this week's mailbag. The mailbag show would not work without you.
Today we look at whether the Draft really needs to be three days long, whether the Chiefs overpaid in the Frank Clark trade, how important past starting experience is for quarterback prospects, whether the Jets will have a focus on the offensive line in this year's NFL Draft, how concerned fans should be about the team's passing defense, whether Ziggy Ansah should be a Jets target, and whether the team should package Robby Anderson with a third round pick to get back into the second round.

The NFL Draft is just two days away from starting. We have made it through the long offseason to this premium event. The Jets will have a chance to add some premium young talent.
Joining us on the podcast today to discuss the team's options is frequent guest Dave-Te' Thomas. Dave-Te' is personally one of my favorite guests to have on the show.
If you are not familiar with him, he has been scouting professional football for decades. He puts together exceptionally detailed profiles on the prospects. If you want to know what a prospect's favorite class in third grade was, Dave-Te' could probably tell you.
On today's show we discuss the Jets' options with their third pick, their chances of trading down, prospects to watch at center, wide receiver, and tight end, and some other sleepers.

After a long wait, Draft day is almost here. The 2018 season ended close to four months ago. In that time we have seen the Jets hire a new coach and try to restock their roster in free agency. Now comes the annual opportunity to add premium young talent.
Joining our podcast today to discuss the NFL Draft is Conner Rogers. Connor writes for Bleacher Report and co-hosts the Stick to Football podcast. He is one of the sharpest minds out there when it comes to the Draft and the Jets. We will discuss what the Jets should do with the third overall pick, their options in the event of a trade down, where they might go with their pair of third round picks, and some potential late round sleepers to watch.

It is finally almost here. The 2019 NFL Draft starts in six days.
Whether the Jets keep the third pick or trade down, the team's eventual pick will likely be viewed as either filling a need or the best player available (ideally both). This is how these picks tend to be evaluated.
For a long time I have felt like this thinking was too simplistic. I think there are considerations that go beyond these two concepts. In addition, I think there are complex elements that go into what constitutes the best player available and a team's most pressing need.
Are we talking about the best player today, or the guy who will grow into the best player eventually? Are we talking about the position that is a need because it has the lowest quality players, or a cornerstone position lacking impact talent? These are some of the considerations teams have to make before turning in their cards.
On today's podcast I offer my thoughts on what teams should think about in their Draft rooms.

One week from today is the start of the 2019 NFL Draft. To celebrate this milestone, today we have a podcast mailbag. Thanks once again to everybody who submitted questions for the show. It isn't an exaggeration to say we couldn't do it without you. How would one do a mailbag show without mailbag questions? Apologies if your question went unanswered.
Today we look at how much of an advantage the Jets' light travel schedule will be in 2019, whether the cost of giving up a Draft pick AND giving a big contract for somebody like like Frank Clark is too steep, whether the Jets are a Playoff team if they have a 2017 Saints type Draft, whether it will be time to discuss a contract extension for Jamal Adams after the season, and whether the Jets should have interest in trading for Josh Norman.

We are now approaching the one week mark in the countdown to the 2019 NFL Draft. The Jets and the rest of the NFL will be on the clock soon.
Sometimes the Draft offers us a window to a team's views on its current players. Two years ago many believed the Jets would give the disappointing Calvin Pryor one more chance. That didn't happen, however, as the team used its first two picks on Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye. Pryor was traded before the start of the next season. The Jets' feelings on him clearly played into the team's Draft strategy.
On today's podcast we discuss some of the players on the roster who could impact what the Jets do in the 2019 NFL Draft. If they like some of the current players better or worse than we think, it could affect what the team does next week.
