The NFL Draft is fast approaching. It gets started a week from Thursday. The Jets own the third overall pick, but they are a candidate to potentially trade back.
I have made no secret of the fact that I am a big fan of the three players the team is likely to pick if it keeps the third overall pick. A trade down does remain a possibility, though. A trade down could potentially help the Jets stack their figurative cupboard with young talent. But I am admittedly not a fan of some of the prospects they might take after moving down.
The NFL Draft remains an unpredictable event. We do our best to study the prospects, but we can never be totally certain in our assessments. Like everybody else, some prospects I have liked in the past have been total busts while some I have disliked turned out great.
On yesterday's podcast I offered some things about the top prospects that worried me. On today's show we flip things around. I tell you about prospects I don't like from this year's Draft class and offer reasons for potential optimism.

It is Draft season. The annual event will take place next week. It is a chance for the Jets and the other teams in the league to restock their rosters.
The Jets currently own one of the premium assets in the Draft. As a result of their 4-12 record last year, they have been awarded the third overall pick, which will either allow them to pick an elite prospect or acquire other selections as part of a trade down.
At the moment it sounds like the Jets will end up with one of three players if they keep the pick. A surprise is never off the table on Draft day, but it certainly sounds like either Nick Bosa, Josh Allen, or Quinnen Williams will end up a member of the Jets barring a trade down. These prospects are very highly regarded.
On today's podcast we play devil's advocate with these top picks. While these are premium prospects, there is no such thing as a perfect prospects. Which part of their games are somewhat concerning? We will discuss.

The focus is now on the 2019 NFL Draft, which now begins in less than two weeks. The final stages of free agency continue, though. The Jets made a small addition on Thursday by adding Ty Montgomery. The former Packers and Ravens running back will serve as Le'Veon Bell's backup. I will tell you why I think he is a solid fit on today's podcast.
The main focus remains the Draft, though. Joining us is Tony Pauline, who runs the Draft Analyst website. ;'Tony has been covering the NFL Draft for a long time. On today's show he takes us through what we can expect to see Arizona and San Francisco do in front of the Jets. Then we talk about where the Jets might be going with the third pick and some of the things to watch as the 2019 Draft progresses.

We are only two weeks from the start of the 2019 NFL Draft. This year's event might not have the same degree of anticipation as last year's Draft since the Jets will not be selecting a quarterback in the first round, but it remains an opportunity for the team to add to its young base of talent. To celebrate the two week mark from the Draft, we will have a podcast mailbag today. Thanks to everybody who submitted questions. We couldn't do it without you. Feel free to resend unanswered questions next week.
Today we look at what an ideal trade back could look like for the Jets, the potential for selecting a wide receiver prospect in the third round, whether head coaches are now nothing more than glorified coordinators, whether anybody will be interested in trading up for one of the top defensive players in the class, whether it is a good idea to trade up into the second round, and the Quinnen Williams vs. Josh Allen debate.

The NFL Draft is now just over two weeks away. Joining the podcast today is Trevor Sikkema. Trevor is associated with The Draft Network. If you are not familiar with that website, you should definitely check it out. It provides a ton of great content from knowledgeable voices. It has quickly become one of my go to sources for Draft analysis.
On the show today Trevor offers his take on the edge rusher class. One of the biggest objections I hear about a potential trade down for the Jets from the third overall pick is that they will squander their opportunity to add an elite edge guy. I ask Trevor how big the drop off is from the top edge guys to those in the second tier. We also discuss the top offensive linemen in this class along with the depth at wide receiver and tight end. Trevor also tells us why this year's cornerback class might be underrated.

The NFL Draft has implications for numerous people. Prospects see their lifelong dreams fulfilled. Players already on the roster also are impacted by the Draft. Sometimes a rookie comes in and makes their jobs easier. We discussed this on yesterday's podcast.
On today's podcast we go in the other direction. Some members of the Jets might be impacted negatively by this month's Draft, especially if the team selects somebody who plays their position. The impact might be a loss of playing time. It might impact future contract negotiations. It might even result in the loss of a roster spot. We will look at some of the players who might hope the Jets stay away from prospects at their position.

The 2019 NFL Draft is fast approaching. In just a few weeks, the Jets will be on the clock with the third overall pick (or a different pick in the event there is a trade).
At the end of each year's Draft, there are always articles about winners and losers. Some of those articles provide immediate analysis about which teams did the best and the worst. Other articles discuss winners and losers on a specific team. Which players saw their replacements drafted, and which didn't.
I think there is another class of winners on a team, players whose jobs were made easier by a pick. On today's podcast we will discuss potential Draft winners for the Jets. If the team selects a player at a certain position these are the players who could ultimately benefit.

The Jets have their new uniforms. The team unveiled them last night at an event hosted by comedian J.B. Smoove. The new uniforms do indeed follow the design that leaked on the internet Wednesday. The team has three jerseys, home green, away white, and alternate black. On today's podcast I offer my views on the uniform. After being unimpressed by the pictures that leaked, I thought the uniforms looked better in live action.
Most of today's podcast is centered on the Draft. One listener recently sent a mailbag question asking me whether Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson could be a viable option for the Jets if the team traded out of the third pick. So on today's show I offer thoughts on some of the top prospects available in this year's class. I don't get to everybody today, but I do mention many of the top prospects.
I think there are two outcomes for the Jets. If the team keeps the third pick, there should only be three options. If the team trades down, there are many more options. There also are some players I would avoid.

Happy new uniform day! The Jets are scheduled to unveil their new uniforms tonight. There was a rumored leak yesterday. Was this an actual leak or a fake? We will have to wait and see.
While we wait it is a podcast mailbag day. Thanks to everybody who submitted podcast mailbag questions. The show couldn't happen without you. Apologies if your question went unanswered. Feel free to resend for the next mailbag.
On today's show we talk about the new uniform leak, whether the new pieces the Jets signed actually fit, which regions of the country produce the best football players, a young player who can step up on defense and take a starting role, which style of back the Jets should pick to complement Le'Veon Bell, the best overtime system the league could adapt, which Jets great from the past could help the current team most, my Stanley Cup pick, and which color would be the best if team had to give up green.

We continue to move closer to the 2019 NFL Draft. It is scheduled to begin in just over three weeks. The Jets currently own the third overall pick.
On today's podcast I empty my notebook. There is no large, overarching theme. I merely share some scattered thoughts I have about the Jets and professional football at large. The team re-signed Frankie Luvu yesterday. The Alliance of American Football suspended operations near the end of its first season, likely ending things for the league for good. I offer a few thoughts on these developments.
I also share my views on why one specific player will likely make or break this year's free agent class for the Jets and a couple of signings I like better now than I did the day they were made. Finally I tell you why I don't like the idea of packaging the team's pair of third round picks to move into the second round and why I don't hate Arizona's outside the box thinking at quarterback.
