The Jets were officially eliminated from postseason contention on Sunday, but there are still two games left in the 2017 season. The team had a surprisingly busy Monday just a day after the elimination.
The Jets made a roster move, waiving wide receiver Jeremy Kerley. Kerley's second stint in green and white lasted less than a year and included only 22 receptions. After missing four games with a suspension, the Jets decided they did not need him against the Saints as they chose to keep the receiver inactive. Now they have decided they do not need him going forward.
Todd Bowles also made a pair of announcements leading to questions about the availability of two big name defensive linemen for the rest of the season. Leonard Williams is in the concussion protocol. Meanwhile, Muhammad Wilkerson was back in the team facility on Monday, but Bowles would not commit to a return to the lineup this weekend.
We discuss all of this on today's podcast.

The Jets will be home for the postseason. There is now no doubt. Heading into Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, the Playoffs were a long shot, but there was at least a slight chance. That is now gone. New York was officially eliminated in a 31-19 loss to the Saints. For the seventh straight season, there will be no Playoffs for the Jets.
On today's podcast we talk about the game. In many weeks the quarterback gets too much credit when the team wins and takes too much blame when the team loses. This is not one of those weeks. Bryce Petty was not up to the task of starting for the Jets as the team was unable to come through in a winnable game.
In addition to talking about the game, we also provide some thoughts on another season without Playoffs. The Jets have now missed the postseason seven straight times. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel.
We also have to address the crazy finish to yesterday's game in Pittsburgh.

The Jets are in New Orleans this weekend for a late season game against the Saints. New York is technically fighting for its Playoff life. The Jets remain mathematically alive in the AFC postseason chase, even if they are on the verge of elimination. The Saints are right in the thick of things in the NFC Playoff race so this is a very important game for New Orleans.
On today's podcast we preview this Week 15 game. As always, we pick one key player, one key matchup, and one key to victory on both sides of the ball. This game will be no easy task for the Jets. The Superdome is one of the most difficult road venues in the sport. They will need to play a big game to have a chance. Tune in to hear some of the things they need to do.

Last Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos dropped the Jets to 5-8 and likely ended any postseason hopes the team might have. While the Jets remain mathematically alive, the odds of making the Playoffs are remote. The team will still play hard and try to win, but the focus of the final three weeks is now about focusing on 2018 and beyond.
On today's podcast we take a look at some of the key players to evaluate over the last three games of the season. Which players are finally getting a chance to show what they can do? Which players need a strong finish to earn a new contract? Which rookies can put themselves into a discussion for bigger roles next season? Our friend Michael from Gang Green Nation joins our show for our weekly discussion.

We are mixing things up a bit this week. Instead of doing our normal Thursday mailbag podcast, we are bumping it up to Wednesday. Thank you to everybody who submitted questions. We couldn't do it without you. Sorry to those of you whose questions we missed. We couldn't get to everybody. Feel free to send your question again next week.
Today we look at how Todd Bowles should be evaluated over the last three games of the season, what changes might be in store for the offense with Bryce Petty playing quarterback, how much a new center might upgrade the offensive line, whether the Jets could trade Brian Winters in the offseason, whether Muhammad Wilkerson is still needed, and whether the Jets should look at big name coaches if any hit the market this offseason even if they are happy with Todd Bowles' 2017 performance.

In some ways, the Jets stepped into a new era on Monday. Quarterback Josh McCown was officially ruled out for the season with a broken hand, which means Bryce Petty becomes the starter.
This especially turns the spotlight on offensive coordinator John Morton. Morton has had a nice honeymoon with the Jets in his first season. Given very low expectations before the season, Morton has guided an offense that has looked competent for the most part.
One year of competent offense with a veteran quarterback is not what makes the career of offensive coordinators, though. What makes (or breaks) careers is the ability to develop a young quarterback. Morton's test begins this Sunday, and it likely will continue into next season with the likely upcoming drafting of a quarterback. That is the topic of today's podcast.

Coming off an exciting win over the Chiefs, hopes were high the Jets could keep the momentum going in Week 14. The Denver Broncos entered this game playing terrible football. Unfortunately, a game against the Jets was just what the doctor ordered for Denver. The Broncos defeated New York 23-0 in Sunday's Week 14 game dropping the Jets to 5-8 and likely putting the finishing touches on their Playoff hopes.
Despite how things looked on paper, there were plenty of reasons to be concerned about this matchup going in. The Jets failed to execute on a number of early plays and things just snowballed from there. We will talk about all of this on today's podcast along with the struggles of key players, namely Morris Claiborne and the offensive line.
We will also talk about where the Jets go from here. There might not be much of a decision to make as Josh McCown broke his hand, which might mean the end of his season. Even in a world where that didn't happen, it probably would be time to get some younger players experience. We will discuss this on today's show.

The Jets head to Denver this Sunday to take on the struggling Broncos. At 5-7, New York is on the outer fringes of the Playoff race. A loss would likely end any realistic postseason path for the team.
The Broncos are not playing very good football right now, but that does not necessarily mean this game will be easy for the Jets. Few road games are. If you stack up the rosters side by side, it certainly does not look like the Jets are head and shoulders ahead of Denver in terms of talent. Denver is also traditionally a difficult road venue for numerous reasons, including altitude.
With all of this in mind, we preview the game on today's podcast. What are the keys for the Jets if they want to come out of this game 6-7? Find out by tuning in.

After Sunday's win over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Jets find themselves 5-7 heading into a Week 14 road game against the Denver Broncos. At 5-7, the team finds itself in the postseason race but needed a lot to happen in a little time.
Many people stated before the year that the 2017 season was not really about wins and losses for the Jets. Some of these people were fans, but even prominent members of the organization said something to this effect. Success this year was really about player development.
The Jets brought in a fairly large rookie class. Some of the class has received extensive playing time. Others are seeing playing time go up as the season turns to its final month. On today's podcast Michael from Gang Green Nation joins us once again to take stock of where this rookie class is three quarters of the way through the season.

Yesterday was a victory Monday for the Jets. They are coming off a 38-31 win over the Kansas City Chiefs to get their season back on track. The Jets had lost five of six heading into that game. While New York's record is only 5-7, that is still good enough to be in the Playoff hunt in the AFC.
Todd Bowles spoke to the media on Monday. Like past Jets head coaches Herman Edwards and Rex Ryan, a Bowles press conference is usually not appointment watching. They are usually uneventful with little useful information provided. I am not knocking Bowles when I say that. Plenty of successful coaches in this league have boring press conferences.
This one was a little different, though. Bowles actually shared some interesting information about the game on Sunday and some of his decisions. If you listened closely enough, you could learn some things about why things happened and what things mean going forward. That is the topic of today's podcast.
