The Jets got back into the win column on Sunday. New York defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 38-31 at MetLife Stadium. The Jets are now 5-7. The Playoffs still seem like a longshot, but hopes at least remain alive. When you hear the names Josh McCown and Alex Smith as the starting quarterbacks, I am not sure a shootout is the most likely outcome. That was what we got. Today's podcast looks back at a wild game in the Meadowlands.
This game showed us the difference between the 2016 Jets and the 2017 Jets. After a quick start for Kansas City, the Jets settled into the game. This one did not get away from them the way so many games did a year ago. With the offense locked in, the Jets made it a game.
There was one way this team resembled last year's squad, poor pass defense. Ultimately, the Jets overcame it and won the game by avoiding the killer mistakes that have plagued their fourth quarters all season. In this game, the Chiefs would make the big errors.
We talk about it all on today's show.

It is difficult to believe that we are now in the final month of the season. The NFL season just flies. It doesn't feel long ago that the Jets were kicking off with the Buffalo Bills to get 2017 underway. Now we are in December. In the home stretch of the season, the Jets have a date with the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
On today's podcast we preview the game. The Jets enter this game struggling, but so do the Chiefs. Through the first month plus of the NFL season, Kansas City looked like the top team in the NFL. Things have changed quite a bit. Like the Jets, the Chiefs have lost five of their six games. That includes a brutal loss to the Giants in their last trip to MetLife Stadium two weeks ago.
On today's show, we find a key player, a key matchup, and a key to victory on both sides of the ball for the Jets this week.

Thursday is usually mailbag day on the podcast. Once again we do our best to answer your questions. Thank you once again to those who submitted questions. If we did not get to yours, please feel free to submit them again next week.
On today's show we examine whether Mike Maccagnan deserves to get a fourth season as Jets general manager, which quarterback prospect in the 2018 NFL Draft might be the best fit for the Jets, whether Baker Mayfield is a prospect the Jets should trade up to get, whether Bilal Powell should return in 2018, and how surprised we should be about Robby Anderson's stellar sophomore season.

The Jets are heading into the home stretch of the 2017 season. After a surprising start, the team has fallen back to earth. While they remain mathematically alive, it now looks as though a Playoff berth will be difficult to attain. There are probably too many teams to jump and too little time to do it. While we will continue to hope for the best, it might make sense to focus on the future.
On today's podcast, we look at what some areas of the team can tell us about the future. There are four spots on the roster that could be big needs by the end of the season or might not be so big. That will be determined in part by the way certain players perform over the last five weeks. Can the Jets trust those players? Who are these players? We talk about it on today's show.

The Jets fell to 4-7 on Sunday in their 35-28 loss to the Carolina Panthers. It was an ugly loss full of miscues at key moments. Brace yourself because we go back to the game on today's podcast for another look.
Joining us is Michael from Gang Green Nation. There were a few positives in this game to discuss. For those of you who want to hear about silver linings, we look to Robby Anderson and Leonard Williams.
The story of the game sadly was miscues by the Jets. They happened in big numbers. Josh McCown, Jordan Jenkins, Mike Pennel, and the punt coverage team were among the culprits. We break down the big mistakes that cost the Jets another winnable game.

The Jets fell to 4-6 on Sunday in a 35-27 loss to the Carolina Panthers. The team did not get the boost it was hoping for coming out of the bye. Instead what the Jets got was a fifth loss in six games.
On today's podcast we break down what went wrong. There is plenty of blame to go around. Josh McCown again played poor situational football. Austin Seferian-Jenkins left plays on the field. The offensive line broke down at a key moment. So did the punt coverage team. The defense got some praise from others observers, but the unit won't get any on today's podcast. The unit benefited from an erratic Cam Newton. One small silver lining was that the worst thing in the game had nothing to do with the Jets. It was the television announcing. We have some things to say about that.
In one of the few positive developments from the game, a young player for the Jets continues to show progress so we take a few minutes to celebrate Robby Anderson.
Ultimately, though, the Jets let another game get away in frustrating fashion. What does this mean for the big picture. You will have to tune in to hear our take.

The Jets are back in action this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. They had two weeks to think about what went wrong in an ugly Week 10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Jets remain in the AFC Playoff race for the moment, but they need to start winning games to stay there. This was a struggling team heading into the bye, having lost four of five games.
They do not get an easy task coming out of the bye. The 7-3 Panthers are coming in for a visit. Carolina is having a nice bounceback season after a disappointing 2016. They probably deserve to be road favorites in this game.
On today's podcast we preview the game. Which players need to step up, and what needs to happen for the Jets to pull an upset in this game? As we do every week, we pick one key player, one key matchup, and one key to victory on both offense and defense for the Jets.

Our mailbag podcasts usually come on Thursday, but tomorrow is obviously Thanksgiving so we are mixing it up a bit. This week's mailbag has been moved up to Wednesday. Thank you once again to those of you who submitted questions. If yours did not make it in, please ask it again next week.
There is a quarterback theme to this week's mail. We look at how the Jets should handle the free agent market at the position in the offseason, which signal callers should have their interest in the Draft, and the extent to which there are red flags around Oklahoma quarterback prospect Baker Mayfield. We also take a look at the reasons the quality of play in the NFL is so low, where the Jets might end up picking in the Draft, and whether the Jets should have interest in acquiring a couple of players who just became available.
I hope everybody has a very Happy Thanksgiving.

The bye is a good chance to take stock of where the Jets are. How do the key moves the team made in the offseason look ten weeks into the season? On today's podcast, we take a look.
Michael of Gang Green Nation joins us to offer a look at some of the moves Mike Maccagnan made during the offseason that worked out and those that have not. In our discussion, we take a look at Demario Davis, Morris Claiborne, Kelvin Beachum, and Ben Ijalana in particular. Which of these moves have worked out well for the Jets? Which would they want to have back? How do these players figure into the future of the team? How much of that will be determined by what happens over the final six weeks of the 2017 season? These are questions we seek to answer on today's show.
