Several reports from the last week indicated that Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is still on the Carolina Panthers podcast. Charlotte Observer Panthers beat reporter Jonathan Alexander appeared on 'The Roar' podcast last week talking about the Panthers bringing in a veteran quarterback, saying that "when it’s all said and done, is going to be either Jimmy Garoppolo or Baker Mayfield.”

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport offered a similar sentiment Friday afternoon on 'The Pat McAfee Show", saying "to me the Carolina Panthers seem to be the most likely spot for Baker Mayfield."

How likely is it that Baker Mayfield is a Panther by draft night? Is it an inevitably?

Signs of dysfunction within the Panthers organization continue to pop up. ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay appeared on 'The Ryen Russillo' podcast last week stating that "the Carolina Panthers would be the last team I'd want my son to be drafted."

In that McShay pointed to the uncertainty of head coach Matt Rhule's future. But it also appears that Rhule might not be upset if he's ousted following the 2022 season. McShay added, "I've been told that Matt Rhule won't be crying when both sides part ways."

If Carolina and Rhule are likely headed towards a breakup why is Rhule still here? How much is Panthers owner David Tepper to blame? How will this impact the franchise moving forward?

Plus, Stephon Gilmore signed a two-year, $23 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts. Should the Panthers have done that deal over the Jackson signing? Was it possible to retain both for the price that they each signed for?

The Weekly Friday Mailbag returns for another week on Locked On Panthers. This week's questions include whether the Panthers should trade back and target Western Kentucky quarterback in the mid-to-late rounds of the draft, if the Panthers should skip out on drafting or signing a quarterback this offseason altogether, targeting Kyler Murray, and more.

According to the NFL Networks Mike Giardi and his league sources, the Panthers have talked to numerous teams about moving back from 6 since the team doesn't have another pick until #137. According to Giardi's sources, picking a QB in the top 10 might be too much but picking one in the mid-first is more palatable and gets them more draft capital. Is this the right approach for the Panthers?

Cleveland Browns quarterback, a potential trade target for the Panthers if they don't draft one, was in the news again on Wednesday. Mayfield discussed on YNK Podcast how he feels disrespected by the Browns following the team's trade for Deshaun Watson. Does Mayfield have a point or is this a sign of his immaturity? Julian weighs the pros and cons of a potential trade for the former number one overall pick.

Good Morning Football co-host Peter Schrager appeared on the Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday stating that "there is a lot of heat around Matt Corral right now...he could potentially be the 6th pick to Carolina". Should Corral be the pick if the Panthers stay at six to select a quarterback?

The Carolina Panthers have a decision to make with the sixth overall pick that could dictate what direction the Matt Rhule era goes. Julian Council believes that there are two options for the Panthers at 6: draft a left tackle or trade back. Are those the best two options for the Panthers or would they be better off drafting a quarterback with that pick?

After two years in the NFL, it's time to take a look back at the Panthers first draft class under Matt Rhule. Which players have disappointed? Which players have shown to be worth more than their initial draft position? Is Jeremy Chinn already the best second-round pick in franchise history?

Quarterbacks Matt Corral, Malik Willis, and Desmond Ridder are all visiting the Panthers today for their top-30 visits. Who is the best prospect of the three? Plus, the Panthers welcomed in a player who could possibly improve their punt/kick return game.

After whiffing on several proven quarterbacks, the Carolina Panthers best option to find a franchise quarterback appears to be in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft. The only issue: this class is considered to be weaker than those of the past few years. Considering Panthers head coach Matt Rhule is in a win or else situation and none of the prospects are viewed as a Top 10 player in the draft, how real is the Panthers interest in acquiring a quarterback at sixth overall?

The Carolina Panthers began their Top 30 visits ahead of the draft on Monday. Local product Sam Howell and Western Kentucky signal-caller Bailey Zappe met with the team on Monday with Malik Willis, Kenny Pickett, Matt Corral, and Desmond Ridder all set to meet with the Panthers in the next two days. Can any of these prospects wow the Panthers enough to be selected at six?

Plus, Albert Breer in his latest MMQB column and appearance on the Rich Eisen Show provided some insight on the Panthers interest in the lone viable veteran options, Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo.

The NFL Draft is 17 days away! Through a series of poor trades, the Carolina Panthers have without a Day 2 pick in the draft. Could trading back be the best option for the team as it opens to door to address both the need at quarterback and at left tackle?

If the Panthers do indeed decide to trade back, would that re-open up the veteran quarterback option for the team? Is it more likely that the Panthers look at a veteran quarterback if they stay at six or move back?

An update on David Tepper's ongoing spat with Rock Hill, York County, and the state of South Carolina, regarding the Panthers training facility and headquarters.

The Weekly Friday Mailbag returns for another week on Locked On Panthers. This week's questions include whether the Panthers would be better off going best player available at sixth overall or drafting on positional need; Charles Cross or Malik Willis; and if Sam Darnold can be a respectable quarterback in 2022. Plus, a question on whether Matt Rhule's job should actually be on the line heading into 2022.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold joined Barstool's "Bussin' with the Boys" podcast hosted by Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan and former NFL linebacker, Will Compton. On the show, when asked if he's concerned about the Panthers taking a quarterback with the sixth overall pick, Darnold said that he knows that he's a good quarterback in the league and has proved it. Is Darnold delusional or is there a larger point being made?

Darnold also had thoughts on criticism that he's dealt with from the New York Jets and Panthers fan bases. Are fans justified in their criticism or have they gone overboard?

ESPN NFL Draft analysts Matt Miller and Jordan Reid believe that the Panthers will select Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett with the sixth pick. Their justification, like others, is that Pickett is the most "NFL-ready" in the current class. Julian explains why the Panthers selecting Pickett for that reasoning is short-sighted and would be doing the franchise a disservice.

Plus, Panthers secondary coach Steve Wilks has joined former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores lawsuit against the NFL, teams, alleging racism in hiring practices.

The countdown to the 2022 NFL Draft in Las Vegas continues. 22 days out there still remains a level of mystery about what the Panthers are going to do with the sixth pick. Is Carolina's decision the most interesting choice of the entire NFL Draft?

Since the arrival of head coach Matt Rhule, the Panthers have used both of its first-round picks on a defensive player. Could that trend continue this year? Is it worth going with the best player available even if that means bypassing a quarterback or left tackle?

Update on the ongoing drama between David Tepper, Rock Hill, York County and the state of South Carolina as all parties hope to reach a resolution on the development and construction of the Panthers practice facility and headquarters.
