Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com.
The Pittsburgh Steelers saw Joey Porter Jr. return to practice Tuesday, but he didn't commit to playing or if there would be a new contract. Could he be closer to a new deal with the team? Or are he and the Steelers too far apart in the contract negotiations? Christopher Carter and Nick Farabaugh discuss what's going on with Porter and Omar Khan, and if an extension will happen before the start of the regular season. Watch to see what Porter said after practice about the contract negotiations. Also, Chris and Nick show what Jaquan Brisker and Porter both said about the secondary's chemistry despite not practicing together or playing together much in training campa and thre preseason. How will Porter, Brisker, Jalen Ramsey, DeShon Elliott, and Jamel Dean play together when the season gets started? And Cam Heyward has praises for the young defensive linemen on the team like Yahya Black, Gabriel Rubio, Derrick Harmon and Kevin Jobbity Jr.

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Alan Saunders.
The Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan addressed how the team's moves to build the offensive line are still on track. Christopher Carter and Alan Saunders discuss what Khan said about the need to trade away Broderick Jones and how the Steelers want to build an offensive line of versatile blockers. Does Khan still have the right plan with Max Iheanachor, Troy Fautanu, Mason McCormick and Zach Frazier at the core? And can Spencer Anderson be the guy they use as an extra offensive tackle? Also, Chris and Alan discuss how the Steelers have handled their current situations with Elandon Robert and Joey Porter Jr. Are the Steelers not planning to bring back Roberts despite how good he looked in the preseason? And is Khan misreading what is needed to get a contract negotiation done so that Porter can be the Steelers' top cornerback?

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast.
The Pittsburgh Steelers revealed their 53-man roster, and Christopher Carter sees some important holes at offensive tackle and safety that still need to be filled. Though the Steelers kept four quarterbacks in Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard and Drew Allar, what other moves could they have done to have a more complete roster? Also, who were the most surprising players kept by the Steelers? Gabriel Rubio, Eli Heidenreich, Robert Spears-Jennings and all of the Steelers' 2026 draft picks made the team along with obvious names like Max Iheanachor and Germie Bernard. Also, what is to be made of the Steelers' trades of Broderick Jones to the Dallas Cowboys and Kaleb Johnson to the Green Bay Packers? While they are correcting past mistakes, this time they aren't mistakes from Kevin Colbert, but of Omar Khan.

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast.
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their preserason finale 28-27 Thursday night, but Christopher Carter is focused on how their young quarterbacks performed. Did Will Howard and Drew Allar show the kind of progress that was needed for young developmental quarterbacks in Mike McCarthy's QB school? Chris breaks down the parts of the field Allar worked that impressed. Also, Chris gives his review of the offensive line. Max Iheanachor made his debut, but allowed his first sack. Meanwhile, Gennings Dunker also struggled in pass protection, while Dylan Cook nor Broderick Jones looked like they were ready to be starters. Will the offensive line be ready for the regular season? Finally, Chris goes over his winners from the game, where he praises Kaden Wetjen for his first punt return touchdown.

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast.
The Pittsburgh Steelers play the Buffalo Bills Thursday night in a preseason finale. Christopher Carter gives his top five players with the most to prove in what could be the last chance for several players to prove themselves to the team before cuts are made for the 53-man roster. Is more pressure on Will Howard than Drew Allar? Are both Roman Wilson and Kaden Wetjen on the chopping block? Could Broderick Jones be a cut candidate? Chris explores all the top players he thinks need to show up for Mike McCarthy's staff to prioritize them in their roster assembly. Also, Chris shows his in-depth conversation with Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen about how Patrick Graham's defense gets aggressive. Chris points out how Graham wants to use Queen, Nick Herbig, Alex Highsmith and T.J. Watt in more linebacker-heavy formations to pressure quarterbacks and create chaos for the defense to confuse and disrupt offenses. Finally, Chris calls out the Steelers' offensive line as a group who still has a lot to prove if they're going to be a key driver for the Steelers' chances this season. The run game hasn't materialized for Jaylen Warren or Rico Dowdle yet in training camp or the preseason, and that could be a problem for Mike McCarthy, Aaron Rodgers, and the balanced attack that would make the Steelers' offense more complete.

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com.
The Pittsburgh Steelers still haven't gotten Michael Pittman Jr. back to being fully healthy after his injury. Could that hold back his chemistry with Aaron Rodgers and the offense? Christopher Carter and Nick Farabaugh discuss what's wrong with Pittman, and whether the lack of a connection with Rodgers in training camp could carry over to the Steelers' regular season. Could the WR2 Omar Khan got to help free up DK Metcalf from double teams not have the desired impact to start the season? Also, Broderick Jones admitted that the Steelers' flipping sides around this year has caused him some issues in getting his fundamentals back after he returned from injury. Chris and Nick discuss the impact of Mike McCarthy and James Campen's plans for the offensive line and whether the flipping of Troy Fautanu and Mason McCormick because of the Max Iheanachor pick is backfiring on the plans of the offensive line? Finally, Chris and Nick discuss something Ben Roethlisberger suggested on his own podcast. Should the Steelers cut Mason Rudolph and send him to the practice squad in order to keep both Will Howard and Drew Allar? And could Kaden Wetjen lose his roster spot if he's not the best return man?

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast.
The Pittsburgh Steelers still haven't signed Joey Porter Jr. to a contract extension and time is running out. Christopher Carter and Alan Saunders explain why they think Omar Khan needs to stop playing around and sign the team's top cornerback. Has Porter asked for too much money? Are the Steeelrs getting in the way with too low of offers to keep Porter? Chris and Alan discuss who might be the more reasonable side in this standoff that Mike McCarthy called 'an impasse' that leaves Porter's future with the team in doubt. The Steelers also got back Jalen Ramsey and Max Iheanachor from injury and both look ready for action. But will Ramsey be able to play the key slot cornerback role McCarthy's coaching staff has set up for him? And can rookie offensive tackle Iheanachor catch up in time for him to be ready to take over the starting job at right tackle? And after a former NFL scout suggested Roman Wilson should be cut, Chris and Alan discuss what to do with Wilson even if Germie Bernad continues to impress and wins the WR3 job.

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast.
The Pittsburgh Steelers still have their WR3 battle going after training camp, but Christopher Carter sees Germie Bernard with a clear lead over Roman Wilson. But what has Bernard done to make himself the better fit for Mike McCarthy's offense? And what can Wilson show that could still make him an offensive threat? Chris also dives in on whether Wilson might get a shot on special teams after the Steelers saw Kaden Wetjen almost lose a fumble in their preseason loss to the New York Jets. Also, Chris takes you into his conversation with defensive coordinator Patrick Graham about Nick Herbig and how the Steelers plan to use the edge rusher in several different ways to blitz the quarterback? Herbig's explosiveness is a tool that Graham's defensive plans seek to weaponize against offenses with his three outisde linebacker formations. Finally, Chris goes over what he hasn't seen enough from the Steelers' offensive line, and how McCarthy responded to a question about them when asked about Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle.

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast.
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the New York Jets 17-0 Friday night while both their young quarterbacks Will Howard and Drew Allar struggled. Christopher Carter breaks down what went wrong for the two young quarterbacks as Howard threw two bad interceptions and proved he has plenty of work to do to grow as a backup quarterback. Allar also struggled to be consistent, and missed on several opportunities while dealing with pressure. Chris also points out where other players like Broderick Jones and the offensive line as well as Roman Wilson needed to be better for the offense. Also, which Steelers defenders stood out as they shut down the Jets' run game?
