“There is a growing body of literature that supports the idea that decision making involves not only cognition, but also emotion and intuition.”
Today I'm combining my own experiences when trying to make decisions with scientific research on the head, the heart and the gut. I find this topic so so fascinating, yes I am a science nerd and proud of it, but using science to better understand ourselves and how we interact with the world will never get old to me. I also chat about love in all its wonderful forms after being inspired by Natasha Lunn!
Here are the journal prompts I spoke about. I'd defo recommend if you're feeling overwhelmed or confused about what to do next!
- how does my heart feel? what is it telling me?
- what is my gut telling me? what emotions are there?
- what’s on my mind right now? what is my brain saying?
- how do I want to go forward knowing what I know now?
Things mentioned in this episode:
- The Awakened Brain by Lisa Miller (incredible!!)
- the matcha diaries podcast (here)
- Happy Place podcast (here)
- Research paper "Head, Heart, and Gut in Decision Making" (here)
- Natasha Lunn on love and friendship on All The Small Things Podcast (here)
