  • Episode 28: 10 Mistakes Made in Conversation
Do you make these 10 common mistakes in a conversation?

Conversation is key! It is the way we form all of our relationships, whether it’s through text, on the phone, or belly to belly.

    Top 10 Mistakes

    Not Listening
Most people do not actively listen.
They just wait for their turn to talk
When you do this, you cannot possibly contribute to the conversation in the best ways
Stop being lazy and learn to actually listenYou will pick up on more potential paths in the conversation

    If someone says:
‘I went to the mall last weekend with a couple friends.’

    You could say:
‘What mall did you go to?’
    ‘So you love shopping?’
‘What all did you guys do at the mall?’
‘Did you see any great deals?’
‘What were you guys shopping for?’
    etc.

The person will delve deeper into the subject, giving you more info to work with and more paths to choose from.

If they say something like ‘Oh I don’t know’ at first, don’t give up
    Prod a little further
    Ask again
They do know, they just have to think a little more
As they start to open up the conversation becomes more interesting because it isn’t on autopilot anymore.

    Asking too many questions
If you ask too many questions, the conversation can feel like an interrogation.
Or like you don’t have much to contribute
    Mix questions with statements

Continuing the conversation above, you could skip the question and say:
‘Yeah it’s so great to get away with your friends for the weekend. We just went shopping for an event at the end of the month.’
‘Nice. We always go to Greenwood Mall when we can, you should check it out!’

Conversation can then flow from there
You can talk about the different malls you go to, your event at the end of the month, etc.

    Tightening Up
When in a new conversation or when the usual topics are exhausted
An awkward silence or mood might appear.
You may become nervous or worried not knowing exactly why

You can always talk about current eventsNews
Water cooler topics: shows and cultural news (latest episode of ____)
    Choose something from your surroundings.Aquarium
    That girls cool Halloween costume
    The music playlist
Great way to start new conversations
Assume RapportIf you feel nervous or weird about meeting someone for the first time
Imagine how you would feel when you meet one of your best friends
Pretend that your new acquaintance is one of your bf’s.
Don’t overdo it with touchiness right away
But if you do this, you will greet new people in a positive emotional state.
You will begin talking with a smile and a relaxed attitude
It may sound loopy but it really works.

    Poor Delivery
One of most important parts of a conversation
Not what you say, but how you say it.
A change in these habits can make a big difference
Since voice and body language are vital parts of communication

    Things to think about:
Slowing downWhen you get excited it’s easier to talk faster and faster.
    Try to slow down
It makes it easier for people to listen and to actually get your point across
Speaking upDon’t be afraid to talk as loud as you need to for people to hear you.
    Speak clearly. Don’t mumble
Speak with emotionNo one listens if you speak with a monotone voice.
Let your feelings be reflected in your voice.
Use pausesSmall pauses between thoughts or sentences creates a bit of tension and anticipation.
People will start listening more attentively
Improve your body languageMakes delivery much more effective

    Hogging the Spotlight
Everyone involved in a conversation should get their time in the spotlight
Don’t interrupt someone to divert attention back to yourself
Don’t hijack their story about skiing before it’s finished to share your best skiing story.
Find a balance between listening and talking

    Having to be right
Avoid arguing and having to be right about everything
A lot of times, conversations aren’t really a discussion.
Its more of a way to keep the good mood going
No one will be impressed if you ‘win’ every conversation
Sit back, relax and just keep the good feelings going

Talking about weird or negative topics
If you are just getting to know someone, it’s best to avoid certain topicsTalking about your bad health or relationships
    your crappy job or boss
    serial killers
technical lingo that only you and some other guy understands
or anything that sucks the positive energy out of the conversation
You may also want to save religion and politics for conversations with your friends.

    Being boring
Don’t prattle on about your new car for 10 minutes oblivious to your surroundings
Always be prepared to drop a subject when you start to bore people.
Or when everyone is getting bored and the topic tis running out of steam

One good way to have something interesting to say is simply to lead an interesting life.
    Focus on the positive stuff
Don’t whine about your circumstances. People don’t want to hear it.
Talk about your last trip somewhere, some funny story that happened last week, your plans for the upcoming holiday, your new business or blog, or something funny and exciting.

Another way is to just be genuinely interesting
“You can make more friends in two months by becoming really interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you. Which is just another way to say that they way to make friends is to be one.” Dale Carnegie

Knowing a little about many things or at least being open to talk about them instead of trying to steer the conversation back to your favorite subject is a nice quality
Open up a bitDon’t cling desperately to one topic
    If you can avoid this
You will come across as a person who can talk about many things with ease.
This quality is something that is appreciated in conversation
It makes you feel like you can connect to that person easily

    Not Reciprocating
Open up and say what you think, share how you feel.
If someone shares an experience, open up too and share one with them
Don’t just stand there nodding and answering with short sentences.
If someone invests emotionally into a conversation, they want you to as well.

You can’t always wait for the other party to make the first move.
Be proactive and be the first one to open up and invest in the conversation
One way is to replace questions with statements.
    It makes you less passive.

    Not Contributing Much
You may feel that you don’t have much to contribute, but try anyways
Be interested in what others say
    Ask questions
    Make relating statements

    Open your eyes.
Develop your observational skillsPick up on interesting things in your surroundings
iDevelop your personal knowledge bankBy expanding your view of interesting things in the world.
Read newspapers and keep an eye on new water cooler topics
Work on your body language, assume rapport

    Wrapping up

Don’t do it all at once
Pick out the 3 most important things that you feel needs improving.
Work on them everyday for 3-4 weeks.
Notice the difference and keep at it
Soon you will form new habits for your conversations

    Time:
This is going to take time and consistency before anyone starts giving a shit
If you do this for 2-3 months then fall off, youre never going to see the results that are possiblemake this a 5 year goal, I mean its fun because youre just being yourself and learning how to do cool shit around that
People normally start doing this and want to see the money, connections and leverage immediately, this is a game of patience and tinkering with what people gravitate to, if you try to rush the process to get to the money, ppl will see that and they won’t care
For those who are like whats the point? (After 2-3 years we currently m are $500 a fb post compared to what we make monthly) Think on that next time you think on giving up another thing that didnt happen overnight

  • Episode 25: Mindsets That Make You Magnetic
6 Most important mindsets that will make you magnetic
“Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.” Gandhi

These mindsets will help you become a more charismatic person.

No matter what, I will be okay
The most fundamental mindset to Charisma
So many people live their life wrapped in a mental loop of ‘what if questions’
What if I speak up and my boss doesn’t like my idea?
What if I ask her on a date and she says no?
All of these what if questions stop people from expressing who they truly are!!!
We must defeat these ‘what if’ questions, and realize that everything will always be okay.
The repercussions for worst case scenarios are not so bad!
If your boss doesn’t like the idea, move on.Bravery to put your idea into the world
Your idea could change the world
This skill comes from knowing: No matter what I will be okay.
Enables you to act with freedom that most people never experience.Everyone else is too stuck in the loop of fear and rejection
You can and should take risks in expressing yourselfIdeas
    how you feel
    asking people
    cracking jokes
    speaking your mind
Others will see that you are immune to social pressure and that you express who you are.
They will gravitate toward you, because that is a strength that most people want to have themselves.
If you ever find yourself stuck, not knowing if you should speak up, come back to this belief because it is so critical.

I care more about my character than my reputation

Character is more important than how people perceive you
You realize that the way that you are matters more than the way that people think that you are
So many people spend their lives managing the opinions of other people
‘Will they think this, if I do that’ ‘Even if I say the truth they still won’t believe me’
If you focus on doing the right thing:worrying about your own character,
and then letting people form opinions about you,
what happens is that people see that you are not overly invested in controlling how they feel
‘Wait a sec. if they don’t care about how I feel, I can trust them to be genuine and honest
    It’s paradoxical
SO, if you focus on your character and stop investing so much effort into controlling peoples opinions, what tends to happen is that you feel freedom to be who you are
People will also have better opinions of you once you act this way

BTW we are always here for you guys for honest opinions

You have impeccable honesty and integrity

This is the one that is least emphasized and needs to be talked about much more
Every time you tell a lie, even a small lie,‘I’m on my way’ but you are still showering
You are building a reputation with yourself
Your reputation with yourself is that you sometimes say things that aren’t true
Even if no one else finds out, you still know this
This devastates your ability to speak with conviction, which is critical to charisma
The ability to look someone in the eye and say that you believe 100% what is coming out of your mouth. You fully stand behind what you say
When you lie sometimes, you hurt your ability to speak with conviction all the time.
It may come through in little gestures, a flinch, eye contact, a waver of voice, etc. The lie will break through
    Cut that shit out today.
There will be a penalty to pay
If you have started building a life that is created of small lies built over time, walking back and exposing the truth can hurt.
There are rare situations that you do not need to expose a truth
Someone dying doesn’t need to know that you don’t believe in god.
If you don’t tell the truth you are crushing your self esteem and ability to form genuine relationships in your life

You do not need to convince anyone of anything.

    Not caring vs. persuasion
The idea behind how to be more persuasive: make your asks more persuasive. Increase the odds that someone wants to do the things that you want them to do.
BUT, the idea is not that you repeat that same cycle over and over, badgering them
You never need anyone to do anything, you are simply asking them
Where people run into trouble is when they have relationships in their life where they feel they absolutely need to get someone to work a certain way
Then you enter into neediness aka. Trying to convince
You have gone back and forth over the same issue many times
Your charisma is destroyed because you need something from that person
The charismatic person simply asks, and if the answer is yes: great.
can I deal with this in a way that is acceptable to me
or do I need to weed this person or situation out.
If the answer is no, ask yourself:
    This can be very hard.
If someone is not treating you the way you like to be treated, do not engage in this cycle of trying to force them to be different
Accept that the relationship will remain the way it is, or filter them out of your life
Once you start filtering these peripheral relationships, the people who do not push you, people who look at new opportunities with a discouraging eye
When you filter them out, you make room for the type of people who are going to lift you up.

Start communicating your purpose more proactively

A lot of people spend a lot of their lives engaged in small talk
Wind up with the same answer.Job title, vacation, blah blah
Charasmatic people have a purpose that they are fired up by
They won’t shove it down your throat, but when it comes up in conversation they will tell you what their purpose is
Start telling people your purpose, and before you know it people will help you achieve it.
This incredible thing happens, but only because they repeatedly put it out there
Other humans hear, they are inspired by the message, they are inspired by the desire, then they help
Make sure to put your purpose into the world

You need to start going first

Be the first person to extend praise in a group of people who aren’t comfortable doing that
First person in a group of strangers who cracks a joke
First person to say something vulnerable
You are leading the group in ways that they can connect more. This signifies leadership and bravery to other people.
You are doing what others are nervous to do.
When you do that you will naturally become the type of person that others want to be around
Whole group dynamics can shift. Everyone will get vulnerable, everyone will tell a joke. All of a sudden you are connecting in ways that were not previously possible
Be the person who takes the social risk
No matter what happens, it will be okay

As you start to incorporate these mindsets into your life, they will start to make a tremendous difference. Build the mindsets with surface level ideas such as body language and eye contact.

  • Episode 24: Confidence
    Confidence

“To establish true self-confidence, we must concentrate on our successes and forget about the failures and the negatives in our lives.” — Denis Waitley

Nobody is born with high or low self-confidence. Confidence is a feeling that people develop and work on over time. For most people, confidence is something that comes and goes.

    ME:
    Very confident in High school
Lost a lot of confidence in college
    Had to gain it back
CONFIDENCE COMES AND GOES. You must constantly work on your confidence.

Think in terms of a cycle
Top of cycleFocused on successes, accomplishments
    Feel confident and strong
    BottomFocused on failures
May feel low self-confidence and defeat
Realize that confidence is like a muscle: the more you work on it, the easier it will become for you to use and maintain

We see this cycle constantly in NM. The ups and downs. Highs and Lows
NM: getting people to drink your koolaid
No one wants to drink your koolaid = confidence hit
This is why we are constantly focused on self development
It’s a tough industry. You must be strong and work on your confidence.

    What is Self Confidence?
Feeling when strutting into an interview, knowing that you will impress
A person feels confident when they believe they can successfully do something byApplying their judgement, knowledge and prior life experiences

How does SC impact your life?
    Boosts our self-esteem
    Diminishes stress
    Pushes us to act
Makes us feel good about ourselves

People who lack self-confidence can find it difficult to become successful.
People are reluctant to back a person who isnervous,
    fumbling and
    overly apologetic
People are persuaded by people whospeak clearly,
    hold their head high,
    answer questions assuredly,
and readily admit when they do not know something.

Confident Behavior vs. Low Confidence behavior

    Confident Behavior
Doing what you believe to be right, even if criticized or mocked
Being willing to take risks and go the extra mile to achieve better things
Admitting your mistakes, and learning from them
Waiting for others to congratulate you on your accomplishments
    Accepting compliments graciously.

    Low-Confidence behavior
Governing behavior based on what other people think
Staying in your comfort zone, fearing failure, and avoiding taking risks
Working hard to cover up mistakes and hoping that you can fix the problem before anyone notices
Talking about your accomplishments to as many people as possible
    Dismissing compliments offhandedly.

The examples show that low confidence can be self destructive, and it often manifests as negativity.

    What contributes toward SC?

    self-efficacy and self-esteem

Self Efficacy: a belief that you have the innate ability to achieve your goals, overcome challenges and succeed.

We gain a sense of self-efficacy when:
    we see ourselves mastering skills
And achieving goals that matter in those skill areas.
This is the confidence that, if we learn to work hard in a particular area, we’ll succeed.
This type of confidence leads people to accept difficult challenges
Persist in the face of setbacks

This overlaps with the idea of self-esteem.
Self-Esteem: Person’s evaluation on their self worth and value
Confidence and SE have a direct correlation
When you believe in yourself, your talents, capabilities, worth and potential - both your SE and SC increases.
When your SE increasesYou believe you are worthy of the life you dream of and the success you desire.
    You will become more confident
    Easily accept your failures
Give yourself the credit you deserve
    Accept new challenges
    Become happier
This has a relationship with happinessPeople who feel good about themselves are significantly happier than those who lack self worth.
When SC increases, SE and happiness do the same.

    Building Self Confidence

    There is no quick fix
The things that you do to build confidence will help build your success
    Have focus and determination.

“One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation.” — Arthur Ashe

    Step 1: Preparing your journey

Look at what you have already achievedList the ten best things you’ve achieved.
Spend a few minutes each week looking at these achievements to see success that you have already had

Think about your strengthsTake a look at who you are
    Personality tests
What would your friends consider to be your strengths and weaknesses

Think about what is important to you and where you want to goSetting and achieving goals is the key to this
Real confidence comes from achieving goals
Set goals that exploit your strengths, minimize weaknesses, realize your opportunities, and control the threats you face

Start managing your mindDefeat negative self-talk: can destroy your confidence
Create strong mental images of what you’ll feel and experience as you achieve your major goals

Commit yourself to successPromise yourself that you are committed to your journey and that you will do everything in your power to achieve it
If doubts start to surfaceWrite them down and challenge them calmly and rationally
    Manage these doubts appropriately

Use appearance to your advantage2 equally qualified candidates at a job interview
App 1: doesn’t shake hand, slouches, no eye contact, looks messy
App 2: Firm handshake, sits up straight, looks you in the eye, wears nice suitWho would you choose?
It’s proven: people who feel good about the way they look feel greater SC and SE
Use your appearance and body language to make yourself feel more confident in any situation.

    Step 2: Setting Out

Start to move toward your goal ever so slowly
Do the right things and celebrate the small wins

Build the knowledge that you need to succeedLook at your goals and identify skills needed to achieve them
Look at how you can aqcuire these skills confidently and well (don’t accept half-ass)
Look for a program or course that full equips you to achieve wha you want to achieve

Accelerate towards successOnce you have completed some learning, you will have plenty of success to celebrate
    Start stretching yourself.
Make your goals bigger, and the challenges tougher.
Increase the size of your commitment

Self-confidence is not always easy to achieve or maintain
but it’s something that everyone deserves to experience.
There are many reasons why confidence is essential in our personal and professional lives,
but most importantly, it plays an integral role in our happiness.

  • Episode 23: What They Don't Tell You About Entrepreneurship
What they don’t tell you about entrepreneurship

When people look at a successful entrepreneur
    - they see the cars, money, houses, success etc etc
    - but what they don’t see is all the shit they went through to get there
    - Living broke as hell starting out
    - Spending everything you have on getting started
    - Cutting out friends and family who are negative
    - Skipping on family vacations and trips
    - Truly sacrificing for right now in hopes that it all pays off with no
    guarantee
    - People look and think its all gravy and easy but have no clue what they go through to make it happen consistently

Theres a metaphor that I found pretty interesting from Dan Lok
“That man (or woman) is riding on a lion he is so brave, meanwhile the man is wondering How the hell did I even get on this lion and how do I prevent myself from being eaten alive”

    Ppl see entrepreneurs
    - Hustling
    - bring customers in
    - building social media
    - making things happen
    - trying to manage everything before having a mental breakdown or going broke

All of this can lead to feelings of
    - anxiety
    - self doubt
    - worthlessness
    - suicidal

People always see the glory but don’t see what goes on behind then scenes, but fortunately theres a large community of fellow entrepreneurs that support each other through these crazy times

Entrepreneursip is the ability to endure pain for a long period of time

No matter how much money you make the problems will always be there, they’ll just have a few more zeros attached to it

One problem solved will be immediately replaced by another problem, which is the name of the game, entrepreneurs are simply problem solvers
    - marketplace
    - business

    Talk about personal events:
    - starting Indiana creatives
    - starting hempworx
    - working for aether
    - trying wholesaling

Don’t focus on the glorys of this life, the material things of what you want, it’ll stress you out

Instead focus on how to get pass this phase that your in and how to overcome everything that youre faced with (personal and business)

They may seem like disadvantages now but they’ll be your advantages over everyone else but you leveled up and figured it out

Families and friends are some of the worst people in entrepreneurship

Families can be mentally draining because thats who youre doing this for
    - they want you to go get a secure job and settle
    - saying youre wasting your time
    - you should give up
    - you don’t spend time with us anymore
    - they don’t understand what

Everyone loves to complain during the hard times of building a business but everyone loves to be there when it pays off, they want to ride in the new cars, dinner at the new house, get on that Christmas list, ask for jobs or some money, its sad

Then once you get to a certain level they start saying stuff like..
    - you work to much
    - money isn’t everything
    - why not just enjoy life, you make more than enough

Because theres millions of other people who deserve this lifestyle as well, and its our calling to help these people and give back so they can experience what we have along with their families

In the beginning you may just start to make a living but after you get to that level it comes much deeper than financials, you feel like its your duty to help society as a whole, thats how you really leave a mark on the world

The rewards from come in forms of messages, and the way people talk about you, impacting peoples lives

Lunch with the Garzas is our way of giving back to the people, we don’t make any money directly off of this platform, we do it out of love, we do it for the amazing messages we receive from people

    Favorite quote:
Live like most people won’t so you can live life like most people can’t

Work when most people don’t want to so you don’t have to work when most people have too

  • Episode 22: Money Blocks
    Money Blocks
Money blocks have roots deep in our subconscious that go undetected for many years until you realize that you’ve hit a financial ceiling.

What are money blocks?A money block: is anything that holds you back from making the money that you want.

It’s really a protective mechanism to save us from some perceived harm.

Money blocks are with you for life.
This is why you have to be vigilant and constantly work on them.
Your money blocks have been growing roots and hanging around for years.
It’s stuff you have taken on unconsciously from conditionings of your parents, teachers and society.
Conditioned beliefs are things that you haven’t been given the chance to logically process or form a belief around for yourself.
THEY ARE NOT YOUR OWN BELIEFS
They attach themselves to your subconscious and drastically impact your reality.

    How does the subconscious work?
Subconscious doesn’t have the ability to analyze and evaluate.
It takes on what it sees and hears as truth.
This is why you need to be careful of surrounding yourself with negativity.
    It’s all about energy
We are all just one big mass of flowing energy
Interactions in the world are an exchange of energy, including money.
Money blocks get in the way of this free flowing energy.
    Unblock the chi.

How do you know if you have money blocks?

    You do. Because everyone does.

Sometimes it’s a completely hidden story that sabotages you in sneaky ways.
For example, lots of people don’t think they have a money block.
Instead, they just tell themselves that they:
    aren’t good at business
or that they aren’t meant to be rich.

It’s way too easy to think that you don’t make enough money for something outside of yourself:
    Clients being broke
    The economy
    Mercury Retrograde
    Any other random excuse

Don’t get me wrong, There are external factors that can affect your money. But believing that you can’t do anything about those factors is all in your mind.

For example – take the really common “I have to work hard to make money” one.
    If you have this block:
actively sabotage yourself to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Resist delegating so you have to do everything yourself
Procrastinate so you have to pull all-nighters to finish your work.

But when you catch yourself doing these destructive behaviors, you can stop in the moment and remember that it’s just your money blocks. You can control how you act in those situations.

    Popular money blocks
    1. Believing you don’t deserve money
Grew up believing abundance was something that happened to other people
You might not think that you are good enough to get rich.
Look stupid if you gain money and lose it all.
This issue happens to people who have attained a little success. They are afraid of change and do not strive for more.
    2. Negative assumptions about money
If you have a negative association with money and wealth, what are the chances of you getting money?Slim to none.
If you do happen to get money, you won’t be able to keep it because you do not want to be a bad person subconsciously

Popular belief system: if you love what you do, and you love helping others, then you shouldn’t profit from it.

Belief system reframed: You should love what you do so much that it’s the only way to make money.

Most of the time these neg associations are coming from society, parents, School, friends. Most of these statements come from the 95%.

They are the 95% and this is their belief system. If you want to get to the 5% you cannot afford to have these negative associations.

Most of the time that people say things like, ‘Money is not important’ it is a defensive statement. It usually means that they don’t have any, or they don’t know how to get some.
You cannot have money if this is your belief system.
    3. You want everyone to like you
Overly sensitive to others opinions, perceptions, criticism, gossip and outright attacks.
When you have money people will attack you for no reason because they have perceptions about what you are about. Don’t take it personally.
    4. Cues from your environment
Does your home or work environment subconsciously tune your mind into a vibration of lack rather than abundance?
Common blocks of this type include small change carelessly lying around, poorly organized receipts, items that remind you of your hardest times.
    5. Blindness to signs
You may be used to tuning out or discrediting gut instincts
This can cause you to miss signs from the universe that are trying to point you toward wealth.
    6. Excessively giving mindset
Being generous is great, but to manifest abundance you need to be both a giver and receiver
Are you asking the universe to help you and then refusing what it brings?
Your worth isn’t only defined by what you can provide for others
It’s healthy, positive and your right to want things for yourself as well.
    7. Lack of specificity
Even if you think you’ve set a clear intention in your law of attraction work, many people don’t realize that their subconscious has pushed them to set very vague goals that are hard to visualize and hard to attain.
Don’t be afraid to set your mind on a specific amount of money and a specific timespan.
    Specificity brings results.
    8. Low expectations
A mind full of doubts or low expectations will not be able to harness the energy required for a wealthy life.
    9. Fear of success
Your subconscious may be terrified of getting what it wants

    Discovering your own money blocks:

To release money blocks, you have to find clarity on what they are.
Once you can personally identify the origins then you can work toward letting go of them.
    1. What are your money blocks?
    Pen & Paper
“What thoughts do I have around my ability/ decision to make more money?”
    Write all beliefs and thoughts.
Once you are clear of what’s going on inside your head, surrender the thoughts
Let them go and open yourself.
Be willing to allow more money into your life
    2. Programming your mind for financial abundance
Financial affirmations’I deserve wealth, and I am moving towards a life of abundance.’
Negative to Positive `Write down every negative message you have ever heart about money, whether it’s from family, society, religion or culture.
Next to each belief write a corresponding positive belief, and focus on those.
Money is the root of all evil = I am a good person, no matter how much or little money I have
    Identify your anxieties surrounding success
    I worry I still won’t be happy
I worry I am not responsible enough to have a lot of money
Write down the anxieties that you have about success
Write down contradictions to these anxieties and repeat the positive statements everyday.
Strengthen your intuition10 minutes meditation per day can help you listen to your own intuition.
    Reading books & applying them
    3. Take the right action
    Pounce on opportunities.
If what you are doing now isn’t working, what other action could you take?

    Other options:
    Tapping
    Reiki
    Chakra balancing
    Hypnosis

    In conclusion:

We stop ourselves from excelling financially because of blocks and false beliefs.

This quote speaks to me. This is how we should think of money.

‘Money is the amplifier of who you are. If you are a bad person, the money amplifies it. If you are a great person, the money amplifies it.’

RMEMBER: There are only 3 things about money that you need to know:
    How to make it
    How to keep it
    How to multiply it

Most people can’t even figure out the first one!!!
    It is very simple.
Change your false & negative beliefs about money, and you can then begin to learn the process of how to make it, keep it and multiply it.

  • Episode 20: Facebook Algorithm 2018
    Facebook Algorithm 2018
    What is an algorithm?
The facebook algorithm is a set of calculations used to decide what content we see.
Chronological feeds are gone, you get what you are given.

Why does Facebook continue to change the algorithm?
Businesses & brands were doing great, but so was ‘Fake News’
Fake News: intentionally untrue articles, that aim to ruffle feathers, or pander people, in order to get large amounts of shares.
Facebook was being riddled with fake news & becoming known for it, which caused it’s reputation to take a beating.
The 2018 updates have been dedicated totaking action against fake news
    regain trust
reaffirm FB as a platform for community and meaningful social interaction.

“Time Spent is not a goal by itself. We want the time people spend on Facebook to encourage meaningful social interactions” - Mark Zuckerber, November 1st 2017

Unfortunately, business owners have taken a hit during these changes. Facebook has started serving their content a lot less, favoring personal content from users.

Business owners have encountered large drops in traffic.

    The News Feed
Facebook’s news feed and how it’s ordered and presented is based on four things:
    Inventory
    Signals
    Predictions
    Score

    Inventory:
This is how Facebook refers to all the available content on Facebook, whether it’s posts fromfriends
    family
    groups that you are in
    pages that you have liked

    Signals:
These are what Facebook uses to help choose which content goes out.
It includes a list of criteria. We’ve listed all the ones we know here:Who posted the content
    When was it posted
    What time is it now
Technology (what type of phone, how strong is the internet connection)
    Content type
    Average time spent on content
    How informative the post is
    Completeness of a profile
These last signals are stated to be ‘Meaningful Interaction’ and they will be prioritized:Comments and likes on a person’s status or photo
Engagement with publisher content posted by friends
    Shares on messenger
Replies to comments on a video

Note: Facebook gives more weight to conversations between people than they will to those between a page and a person.

    Predictions:
This is where fb uses your profile and previous behaviors to decide what to show you.
They attempt to work out how likely you are to like or interact with content, keeping stuff they think you won’t engage with out of your timeline.

    Score:
This refers to a value assigned to a piece of content that will determine it’s relevancy to the user
The higher the score, the more likely it will appear in the feed.
Content will get different scores for individual people.

    EXAMPLES:
    HIGH SCORE:
A friend posts an article as their status with their thoughts on the article.
Catches interest of your other friends: like, react, comment, debate.
Dad send you the link to the same article.
Facebook sees all of your friends sharing, talking about it, and sending it through messenger.
Facebook thinks this is something you will interact with.
Friends post appears at the top of your feed all day
    Eventually you comment.

    LOW SCORE:
A page you haven’t interacted with in five years posts. They do not have all of their info filled out, they do not have a profile picture.
    No one comments or likes
Out of the 8k people who like the page, 10 people click on the link
Facebook is not going to give this a high score for you and it’s unlikely that you would see this post in your fee.

What does this mean for publishers and brands?
    Harder to reach people.
    Posts from pages will struggle.
Facebook doesn’t think pages are as likely to generate genuine engagement between people, which to be fair, is probably right.

Best Practices for the new algorithm

Shift from popularity and attention-driven content to content that creates substantial engagement.

    Publish High-Quality Content
Quality & relevance should always be on the forefront of your FB strategy.
If you are posting spammy content, or content that has nothing to do with your audience, your post will have little to no effect.

    Focus on Audience Needs
Share things that are meaningful to others. Only if they engage emotionally and personally will they feel the need to comment, share or interact with your content.
You need to have a deep understanding of your audienceTheir challenges
    Fears
    Motivations
    Anything that gets them involved.

    Post Interaction-Worthy Content
    QuestionsRecommendations & advice
    Sparks interesting discussions
Helps you understand your audience better
Timely, relevant topicsStuff that is going on right now.
If it’s on other’s minds, they are more likely to share their perspective and take part in conversation
Videos & other visual contentVisual is better than text.
Video takes the crown in terms of engagement.
Personal StoriesYou aren’t just a brand, but also a person
Facebook aims to be about personal connection
    Be personal.
Interact with followers like you would with your friends to make a meaningful impact.

    Take Part
Reply to comments, take to followers.
Keep conversation going to push your posts in the news feeds

    Live Video
One of the most effective content types
Averages 6 times more interactions than regular video clips.
One of the concrete mentions for content that will continue to perform well under the new algorithm.

“At a recent social media conference, it was clear that brands that rely on Facebook for their digital marketing have 3 options:
Increase their fb ad spend budget to promote posts (not something many businesses can do)
Keep FB in the mix but also incorporate other platforms
Utilize facebook live, which now has a higher organic reach than other types of non-paid posts”
    Rebecca Kowalewicz, Clearbridge Branding Agency

Encourage Audience to Follow your page or profile
Even if organic reach is harder to achieve, people who follow your page will continue to see your content.
    Especially ‘See First’
Actively ask followers to follow your page.

    Create Groups
Groups are used by more than 1 billion people worldwide.
Facebook is pushing their groups functionality.
They are formed around specific interests and generate a lot of conversation.

    Analyze and benchmark your performance
Post at the same time that your followers are online.Increases the chance of them seeing it
Figure out what your audience loves, and post more of that.

    Avoid Engagement Bait
This is not meaningful interaction & it can result in demotion of page posts!!

    What is engagement bait?
Vote Baiting“Vote on your 2018 goals”
Photo with 4 options: Be more fit, find love, get promotion, move cities.
React Baiting“Like this if you’re an Aries or LOVE this if you’re a Leo to find true love!!
Share Baiting“Share with 10 friends for a chance to win a new convertible!”
Tag baiting“Who is the mystery girl?! Tag friends who look like her, if enough people comment, I get to keep this painting!”
Comment Baiting“Comment YES if you love rock as much as I do!

    2018 Priorities for News
Trusted Sources: showing more posts from publishers the community finds trustworthy
Informative Content: Prioritizing news that people have told us they find informative
Local News: Making it easier for people to see news that is relevant to their local community

    7. You become a person of actions, not just words
As an entrepreneur you cannot just talk for the hell of it
In fact, things won’t happen unless you make actions
You have to keep your word and follow through or you won’t be an entrepreneur for that long
In the beginning you cant afford the experts or employees so everything is on you! Embrace it!

    8. Quickly realize how many amazing people really are out there
You meed tons of other like minded people who are dedicated to bettering themselves and their skills
These people are always more than willing to help another fellow entrepreneur out, this community is focused on progressing and answers instead of being stagnant and focusing on problems (which could be you current circle)
This will bring you more opportunities than you could imagine
