Episode 152 hosts Madilyn Wolens, a Registered Nurse based in Brisbane, Australia.
Better known as 'The Functional Nurse' and Founder of 'The Functional Skin Studio', Madilyn joins us in our 3rd Chapter of 'The Injector Diaries' - an in depth conversations, stories and experiences from injectors around the globe. In this mini-series, each injector brings their own unique take on things and we'll showcase every level of injector, from newbies to masters and from all walks of life. We'll explore how and why they chose to inject, why they favour using certain products, look under the hoods of their clinics and businesses and aim to learn from and inspire our injector listeners.
Madilyn suffered with poor skin as a teenager and was inspired to work within the aesthetic space to help others with similar issues. But her experience of conventional treatments sparked an interest in a more holistic approach to skin care and she now leads a team including a naturopath, holistic facialist in addition to offering injectables herself.
In this episode, we discuss:
- Her motivations for getting into the industry
- Her personal skin battles
- Originally training in the beauty sector before becoming a registered nurse
- Her early injectable career and how she trained
- The transition from a free lance injector to opening her own clinic
- The challenges of owning a clinic
- The impact our internal health has on our skin
- Working alongside complementary practitioners
- Recognising her skill set, working within her scope of practice and referring cases to others
Every week we also ask our Injector Diaries guest:
- What's your favourite toxin and why
- What's your favourite filler and why
- What's your go-to cannula make and size?
- Aspiration, yes or no?
