Grains lean higher except soybeans on Thursday.  Corn sees follow through buying after bounced off key support Wednesday but the market is also having trouble getting above resistance on the charts looking for fresh bullish news.  Soybeans fall on disappointing weekly exports.  Will the funds stay short in the grain markets heading into the growing season?  Cattle see a recovery rally but can the market see further buying amid HPAI headlines?  And hogs continue attract fund buying and June on back are hitting new contract highs but strong demand is also supportive.  Jeff Hoogendoorn, Professional Ag Marketing, has more.

Cattle again try to bounce early but rallies are hard to sustain as new HPAI headlines continue to circulate.  Uncertainty has caused fund selling so the hope is the market can find the answers it needs to stablize.  Plus, cash cattle news has been better than expected and the futures are at a discount so hopefully that will help.  Hogs are consolidating after a fresh round of contract highs in June and deferred Wednesday on strong demand and higher cash with tighter than expected supplies.  Grains continue to chop looking for fresh news, but do the funds want to be so short heading into the planting season.  Scott Varilek, Kooima Kooima Varilek, has answers.

Grains stage a nice rally on Wednesday with fund short covering and corrective buying plus the pullback in the U.S. dollar index was also supportive.  News that Russian authorities have halted grain exports on ships belonging to Aston, one of the biggest local grain trading houses, in an effort to expand a quality probe propped up prices. More HPAI cases, now in an Ohio dairy, also caused more fund long liquidation in cattle.  While not as volatile, the milk markets have slowly ground lower on HPAI news but saw a big selloff prior to the outbreak on slower demand.  Bryan Doherty, Total Farm Marketing, has more.

Grains are mixed early with wheat putting in weather premium and trying to pull corn with it.  Soybeans have struggled after a poor technical close Tuesday and with lower soybean meal on concerns about lower feed demand with HPAI.  Cattle see fund selling return with continued uncertainty about HPAI, while hogs are benefitting from the news on improved demand and higher cash and cutouts reflect that.  Kent Beadle, Paradigm Futures, has details.

Grains end lower on Tuesday with continued consolidation and risk off selling from outside markets.  The dollar was up with concerns about interest rates staying higher for longer and the stock indicies were also lower on that and the escalation of the conflict between Isreal and Iran.  Weather in the U.S. and Brazil, with some recent rains and more in the forecast, also seemed to be a bearish factor.  As well as winter wheat ratings being well above a year ago.  Cattle recovered after the Monday meltdown on a human case of HPAI but how much can it recover?  And hogs consolidated after June made new contract highs.  Vince Boddicker, Farmer Trading Company, has analysis.

A risk off day in grain and cattle futures with fund selling on news of a case of HPAI detected in a human associated with an infected Texas dairy herd.  Grain also sell off on USDA report hangover, beneficial precipitation in the central U.S. and ideas of improved winter wheat conditons in the first Crop Progress Report.  Hogs saw a bounce on the long side of spreads being unwould with cattle and despite a bearish Hogs and Pigs Report from USDA.  Dave Chatterton, Strategic Farm Marketing, has analysis.

Grains leaning lower with USDA Report hangover with the reality sinking in and the market questioning where the 6.4 million acre loss to principle crops came from.  Plus, the first USDA crop condition report is likely to show a much better wheat crop than a year ago especially with many of those areas receiving recent precip.  Cattle are mostly lower with HPAI continuing to spread in the dairy herd. Hogs opened lower in reaction to the Hogs and Pigs Report but has bounced on the long side of spreads with cattle.  Allison Thompson, The Money Farm, has more.

Corn ends higher after bullish numbers in the USDA Reports including the 90 million acre corn estimate.  So where do prices go from here?  Soybeans end slightly lower as acreage was in line with trade guesses but quarterly stocks were above the mark by around 20 million bushels.  Wheat ended with winter wheat classes higher, spring wheat lower.  Cattle futures recovered the last day of the month despite some lower cash. The futures discount is likely supportive but is all the bearish news from the Cattle on Feed Report and HPAI news worked it?  Garrett Toay, AgTrader Talk, shares his thoughts.
