A real trailblazer for women’s running, she won the first ever Olympic women’s marathon in Los Angeles in 1984 just 17 days after having knee surgery!

A true running legend she also founded the ‘Beach to Beacon 10k’ and triumphed in the Boston and Chicago marathons.
