Citibank Taiwan underwent a significant transformation as it concluded its consumer banking operations, resulting in the closure of 44 bank stores and the removal of 66 ATMs across the country on August 11th. However, the bank's corporate services will continue to operate without interruption.

Last December, Taiwan's financial regulatory body approved the acquisition of Citigroup's consumer banking business by DBS Bank, as part of Citigroup's broader strategic withdrawal from consumer banking across several regions, including Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Mexico.

DBS Bank is now poised to become the largest foreign bank in Taiwan, following the successful takeover of Citibank's assets and customer base in the country. The transition also impacts existing Citibank credit card holders, who will see a shift in ownership while maintaining their accumulated credit card rewards, cash back, miles, and points. These benefits, held by approximately 2.76 million cardholders, will remain intact even after the transfer to DBS Bank.

For individuals holding accounts with Citibank, DBS has already initiated the process of transitioning to the new banking landscape. Activation can be completed conveniently through the DBS Digibank app or at physical DBS locations.
