Baby, this case is absolutely ridiculous. In June 1991, Charles Holden stopped at Hardee’s after work, grabbed a burger and some coffee, and decided to do one good deed: give a stranger a ride. That one little decision turned into complete chaos. The stranger attacked him, Charles barely escaped, and not long after that, his 70-year-old mother, Dorothy Donovan, was found brutally murdered inside her Delaware farmhouse. Now here’s the problem. Charles told police the SAME random man he had picked up earlier somehow ended up at his mother’s house. Girl. Be serious. The story sounded so crazy that police did not believe him, his own family started looking at him sideways, and the case sat unsolved for years. Then DNA stepped in and said, “Actually...Charles was telling the truth.” This week on One Bad Night, we’re getting into one of the wildest chance-encounter cases I have ever heard.
