  • Chapter 7: Make A Scene

No more deleting yourself from your own life!

You deserve to be seen and heard!

Chapter 7 is when we put it ALL together so that you show UP and speak UP, no matter if that means you’re going to ruffle some feathers.

How devoted are you to living YOUR LIFE? First of all, you won’t be able to answer that question if you are not 100% certain about who you are as a woman. What are your values? Where are your lines in the sand? What matters to you? What do you need in your life? Most importantly, what do you refuse to tolerate anymore?

Susan cautions women about deleting themselves from their own lives by hiding in the background, hoping not to be noticed. You don’t want to be the woman who is noticeably absent from your family photo album… or from the center stage of your life!

In this week’s episode of the MIND BODY BARE Podcast, Susan and I share stories of how we learned to NOT make a scene until we couldn’t hold it in any longer.

And how we are committed to showing up on behalf of all the women who came before us… our mothers and our grandmothers, to name a few. (Oh, you have to hear the story about how my grandmother made a scene when I was in 3rd grade and the boys were bullying me. I’m sure she’d be arrested today for the scene she made).

    YOU MATTER.

In chapter 6 we did a mind detox of all the thoughts that make us play small. Those thoughts are called “toxic” for a reason.

    Available on Amazon!

We hope that after listening to this episode you’ll feel inspired to make a scene in your own special way… and, FYI, making a scene doesn’t mean making a mess, it means standing your ground!

Click that podcast player above and start listening.

And then stay tuned because next week I introduce you to The Dignity Diet: How To End The Cycle of Cry-Eat-Repeat. It’s not a diet, it’s a whole new way of losing weight as a natural consequence of being a woman who loves and appreciates her body.

to help you start MAKING A SCENE right now.

  • Chapter 6: Mind Detox

    Let’s go in your mind!

Do you have “repeat offenders”? Those are the kind of thoughts that pop into your mind and wreak havoc… without your permission.

It’s what happens when you lose control of what your mind is allowed to think.

Because, as the thinker of your thoughts, YOU are in charge of what’s going on up there in your noggin. Trouble is, when we allow our minds to be in charge, well… there’s trouble. BIG trouble. Because some of those thoughts have had a lot of practice at bringing us down. They’re old and kinda smelly and when we’re not paying attention, they can really mess things up for us.

When a thought pops into my head that I don’t like, I like to channel my inner lawyer and yell, “I OBJECT!” Susan yells “NOT TODAY SATAN.” Either way, you never have to listen to what your mind is saying. And sometimes, it needs a swift kick in the ass.

In this week’s episode of the MIND BODY BARE Podcast, Susan and I go rummaging through your mind (and ours) to help you find those repeat offenders and kick them to the curb.

Why is this important? Because everything you have in your life started with a thought. And that thought grew into a belief that ultimately became your reality. Everything you see on the outside of your life is a reflection of what’s going on on the inside of your mind.

    THOUGHTS REALLY DO BECOME THINGS!

Left unattended, our minds can hurt us emotionally and physically and create outcomes we don’t even want.

This is arguably the most important chapter of BARE, because it goes to the heart of your peace of mind and whether you’re protecting that peace. So get ready to kick your lousy stinkin’ thoughts out the door, ’cause they ain’t welcome anymore!

  • Chapter 5: Closet Detox

    Let’s go in your closet!

Your closet reveals many things, such as: How you think about YOU.

How you think about YOUR BODY.

How you think about YOUR LIFE.

Whoa! All that from a closet?

I kid you not, there’s a whole lot to learn about yourself when you go into your closet and really see what’s going on in there. Why are you keeping those clothes? Why aren’t you wearing that dress? What’s up with your underwear drawer? Does it actually feel good to put that fabric against your body? Or do you think your body hasn’t earned the right to wear beautiful things?

We think our closets are a place where we can hide our secrets. But the simple act of hiding and having secrets takes a toll on our emotional well-being. I love when Susan says that our bodies don’t have to “earn” the right to look and feel amazing.

In this week’s episode of the MIND BODY BARE Podcast, Susan and I go deep into our closets, and yours, and explore all the ways we think we’re hiding the secrets we try not to think about when it comes to how we treat our bodies, how we dress our bodies, and how try so hard to hide them.

    ABUNDANCE OR SCARCITY

Did you know your closet can tell you whether you have an ABUNDANCE MENTALITY or a SCARCITY MENTALITY? (Knowing this alone can create massive shifts in your life. That is not hyperbole!)

Getting rid of the clothing you don’t wear is actually a sign of abundance mentality.

And if you’re thinking, “but it was so expensive,” or “I got such a good deal on it,” or “I might fit into it one day,” we have a cure for that too!

Bottom line: You deserve to feel taken care of when you walk into your closet and we’re going to show you exactly how to do that.

Do not underestimate the power of a good closet detox! This is what it looks like when we “go deep.”

  • Chapter 4: Sweat

    Ok, let’s move!

No really, move it GirlFriend. Because NOT moving is NOT an option.

In this week’s episode of the MIND BODY BARE Podcast, Susan and I get hot and sweaty. Not exactly. But we do talk about sweat and pee and how anything goes when it comes to moving your body.

We were surprised to learn from each other that neither Susan nor I had healthy role models when we were younger. There was no one to model for us what it looked like to move your body in a way that was good for both one’s mental and physical health. I used to beat myself up with exercise – the more punishing, the better. Susan, on the other hand, avoided sweat at all costs.

Excuse the blur! There were moments we were laughing so hard during the recording of Episode 4 it was difficult to capture a clear screenshot. I think this image captures us when Susan was telling her “pee story.”

Beware What Your Mind Tries To Tell You

Too often we confuse what our minds are telling us with what our bodies actually need. We may think we need to “rest,” but if your body is telling you otherwise, your body wins.

We hope you will feel inspired to listen to your body – you can be sure that it will let you know when it likes the way you’re moving it!

  • Chapter 3: Attentive Eating

    Ok, let’s eat!

In this Episode of the MBB podcast Susan and I talk about how we separate ourselves from our bodies when we come to the table to eat.

This is the chapter of the BARE book that gets most attention and we understand why. Our bodies have been a source of pain and struggle for so many of us who were raised by Diet Culture and were taught to believe that our worth was tied to the perceived value of our bodies.

This episode of the MIND BODY BARE podcast was a doozie, as I expected, because it brought up all the mind crack that both Susan and I had to overcome in order to get to that place of peace. We were raised by moms who, bless their hearts, were trapped in Diet Culture and unwittingly passed it onto us.

So many good stories to share with you.

Hello, my name is Lin Eleoff and I am the host of the MIND BODY BARE Podcast, featuring Susan Hyatt, author of BARE, a seven-part process for helping women take care of their emotional and physical health. We call it a book-club style podcast because each week we examine a chapter from the book. There’s also a free download each week to help you implement the BARE process. Ready for a shot of Vitamin P?

Chapter 2 of the BARE book centers around adding more pleasure into your life.

So many of our clients put Pleasure on the back burner of their lives. That has to stop because we cannot live meaningful lives without Vitamin P!

Susan Hyatt says, without pleasure, we simply cannot be the women we are meant to be!

Want to lose weight? Add some Vitamin P into your life.

Want to build a business. Get some Vitamin P!

Want more out of your life? Yep, get thee more PLEASURE.

Sound too simple? Like, “Yeah, yeah, I’ve heard this before.”

My dear friend, if that’s you? Goin’ all “yeah, yeah” on yourself? This is why your life isn’t the way you expected it to be. Too many “yeah yeahs” will zap the life out of you. Listen UP, GirlFriend!

    We’ve got to Woman UP.

  • Chapter 1: Environmental Detox

If you want to change anything in your life, and we mean anything, you’d better take a look at everything around you, and we mean everything.

I love taking my clients through the BARE process because it is 100% aligned with my coaching philosophy, which is this: If you want to change anything in your life, you’ve got to be willing to put in the deep emotional work required to make that change last.

Skip over Chapter 1 of the BARE book at your peril.

Susan Hyatt, author of BARE, the book on which this podcast is based, says women tend to want to skip ahead to the chapter called “Attentive Eating” because they want to find out if there’s a “quick fix” that will help them lose weight.

We’ll get to the Attentive Eating chapter in a couple of episodes but before we do that, you need to hear this: so much of your behavior is influenced by your surroundings and if you’re like most women, you’re completely (and not-so-blissfully) unaware of it.

Our environment impacts our inner and outer worlds and it explains why we so often sabotage our very best efforts to change.

    Available on Amazon.

  • Ch. 0: Welcome To The MIND BODY BARE Podcast

Oh, and if you’re the kind of woman who loves supporting other women, please leave us a kind review in iTunes. Thank you!

If I could bottle the fun Susan Hyatt and I had putting this podcast together I would send it to you via same-day shipping so you could sprinkle some sparkly goodness all over yourself!

This is a screenshot from our first recording session. I was in Toronto visiting my mom who kept clanging pots and pans in her kitchen while asking me if I could “stop playing around on the computer.”

Because, ultimately? Girls just wanna have fun (thanks Cyndi) and by “fun” I mean… insisting on peace of mind for yourself, standing strong in your inherent worth, falling down in rip-roaring fits of laughter, eating good food, creating your own calming space, making a scene of all scenes, kissing people deeply, hugging your best friend, and making sure you have a never-ending supply of lip gloss (so important).

In other words, all the things that make you feel loved.

Because at the core of everything we say we want (a killer body, more money, a nice home, perfect children, a solid marriage), what we really want is to feel worthy of all the love in the world, especially our own.

Now, I don’t want you to get the idea that we’re going to get all touchy-feely-mushy on you. Although we don’t dishing a little sap, we’re more interested in delivering the truth of what it really takes to get your butt to Happy, a quaint little town just outside your comfort zone.

Susan and I share so many things in common, but this one is a biggie:  You’ve got to do the deep emotional work it takes to create lasting change in your life, whether it’s your body or your friendships or your business.

So we’re going to ask you to “get BARE.”

That means peeling back the unconscious layers of fear. And then, finding a way to take back the power you, like so many women, gave away all those years ago when you didn’t know any better.

Now that you (we) know better, we can do a whole lot better. And that’s what this podcast is going to focus on: helping you become the best, baddest, highest, biggest, most unstoppable and incomparable version of YOU.

    Are you in?

Click the podcast player below for a sneak peak of what’s ahead on the MIND BODY BARE Podcast. Episode/Chapter 1 drops Monday, January 27.
